We loved the TCL Chinese Theatre. The place is hug...
We loved the TCL Chinese Theatre. The place is huge and has a nice ambiance. There are lots of parking spaces and it is also accessible to everyone. We would love to visit again.

Out of town people love to compare foot/hands prints of celebrities
Great place to take the family or friends who are in town.
When it's open. Closed at the moment because of the Corona virus
It is sad because of Covid how much is closed down. You can walk the streets and look at the Hollywood stars but it is extremely dirty. The homeless and druggies have taken over. I wouldn't go back.
Coming back to this Boulevard after 15 years has brought me back the memories. I used to live in Los Angeles in the 80s and here was my free times to come and hang out with friends. It was Now busier than before, streets were now full of tourists from around the World to come here for witnessing the life of Hollywood. The shops still open and welcome the new customers who would spend the money on foods and other memorable things. Good to be back here again .
Wow, wow, wow! Gorgeous inside and outside! So much history. And by far the best quality sound and picture we've even been to! Wished we lived here so we could make seeing films at the Chinese Theater a common occurrence. Definitely take the time to go downstairs to the restrooms; I can only imagine movie stars sitting at all the mirrors fixing their make-up back in the day. And, a large popcorn and a large drink combo is only 15 bucks; that's the same price we pay in our much less important theater back home. Would definitely recommend!
THE CHINESE THEATRE
Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument (LAHCM) #55 and Movie Palace
Formerly known as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the TCL Chinese Theatre was built by Sid Grauman and Charles E. Toberman in 1927 and was one of 3 themed "movie palaces" that the duo built on Hollywood Boulevard during a Golden Era of Los Angeles architecture. Grauman's Chinese Theatre was designed by the architecture firm Meyer & Holler, the firm that also designed Grauman's Egyptian Theatre and The Hollywood Athletic Club.
Boring. And too many people ask for money by CD and cosplay!!
A must see theatre for those new to L.A. and want to go sightseeing. Watching a movie in the theatre is like waiting for a play to start with the curtains and giant stage. Ceiling has cool designs, and chairs can lean back (if no one behind).
You cannot go to Hollywood with a visit to the Chinese theater, go inside its worth the admission to take a look. This attraction is one of the most interesting places to visit in Hollywood. I liked it.
I didn't see a movie here but I seen the footprints in The cement. it was cool
Cool place. Interesting to see all the foot and handprints, some quite old.
I've always wanted to experience the famous theater. Wonderful experience
Kodak Theatre is a good spot to take picture with Hollywood sign in the background. It is LA, so parking is crazy on weekends and holidays.
Had so much fun, stepping into the past and the present. The site is well maintained with staff on hand to answer questions. Great experience!!!
Been here a couple times, the last time with my son in 2011, when he was 5 years old. It wasn't as crowded as the summer, but still crazy. Nice to see all the hand or foot prints of the stars, but we don't stay in this area for long. There is so much to see on the boulevard.
Fantastic theater, good sound and great views from all seats
Just like the Walk of Fame, this is one of the most popular tourist Hotspots in the Hollywood, if not California. Located on the Hollywood Boulevard, by the Walk of Fame, there's no reason for not to stop over for photos. Even if you don't take the tour inside, exploring the footprints and handprints on the ground is already good enough to keep you busy. Yes, the place is crowded, if you go early (before 9am), there is almost no crowd, you can have more relaxing time for photos.
Historical and sacred theater. Lady a few seats over put her nasty bare feet on the seat in front of her, no respect or class. Great theater, the seats are newer and tilt back great. Imax worth it. Get validated at the info office!
It's my favorite place in Hollywood. I live about 3/4 of a mile from it. Extremely cool outside but the inside is even better. It's a pleasure to watch a movie there despite the price. If you are going to see a movie just remember the patrons are a little louder than average moviegoers, Endgame was like a party in there.
Surprisingly empty when we went. Almost had the theater to ourselves. Imax theater is definitely worth going to
I've grown up in Hollywood all my life, and my father and I would walk there all the time. The theater is one of the greatest attraction in LA along with the walk of Fame....Also don't forget the wax museum, Ripley's,and Guinness museum......Enjoy........You'll love it......Kay Geezy......
Historic place with lots of famous peoples hand, foot prints
We didn t go inside but didn t care to due to the exterior. It wasn t well maintained and looked dirty with trash around. Security there isn t very friendly.
If wanting to have this place to yourself get here before 10am and it's lovely. Great to see all the famous hand prints and names. Feel like you're a part of movie history
This is a popular tourist attraction. This is where tourists come to visit Hollywood walk of fame. Theater is a place for Movie premiers. You will several people wearing costumes and entertaining tourists. Nice place to walk around and experience Hollywood Blvd.
The theater isn't as grand on the outside as you imagine it because the city has crowded it in. Still amazing, but a shame.
Take the tour before browsing around outside, it was $14 for an adult. The guides are super and have a great wealth of knowledge. The props are few but interesting. They are not properly cared for or protected enough in my opinion, which is truly a shame.
The theater is really something to behold. Words cannot describe it. After the tour, spend time fitting your feet and hands outside. Lots of fun.
Come back to view a movie in the main theater. Doesn't matter what it is, you'll never forget it. You also get a free bag of popcorn with your tour receipt.
They have a small bar with drinks too.
The 5th largest IMAX screen in the world and laser projection in a beautiful and historic theater. I actually prefer to sit toward the back of the front section for optimal viewing, but middle of the second section back might be better for 3D IMAX.
This place was so much fun! We had a few hours to kill on our way to the airport at the end of a little California family vacation, and this was the perfect ending to our little adventure.
Great image quality and sound. Take middle row for the best experience.
Fun tourist trap. They do actually show movies here. (Shazam, currently.)
Worth the trip! No line when we were there. Get the Walk of Fame - not on the menu.
The IMAX is great. Having a screen rooms interior like this but an IMAX sound is tough and cool. Though pricing is quite high and during daytime it is purely overcrowded due to the location. You need to be an enthusiast to like the place.
Also: Staff is super nice.
This place is great. I went on a Thursday evening, had a nice 4d experience. The areas were all clean! I'll come here again :)
Fantastic!! The only theater where sitting towards the back is a good thing. All seats seem to be good seats (not just the center-middle). Screen size is astronomical. Sound is clear & intimate.
Nothing exceptional but more like a building built for a fantasy movie scene shots, the building is neither true Chinese architecture nor has the 'Wow' factor. Interesting and different.
When the link to purchase an IMAX ticket for a family that travelled 17+ hours ends up being stuck in an MX4D smaller theater, with no way to fix the issue, that's why I absolutely hated it. My 1 of 4 tickets purchased cost more than ALL of our concessions combined.
FIX THE LINK. After the movie, I was able to recreate the exact situation, attempt for IMAX, and forwarded to MX4D. To say I was Irate, is an outrageous understatement.
I will never be going to the TCL Chinese Theater again.
Nothing compares to being able to see and touch hands and footprints of your favorite stars. If you re a movie fan, this is the place for you! Weekday mornings are probably best if you want to avoid crowds.
Cool place Had fun I travel with my music i am a singer helped me with great song ideas i travel and i do make music
My wife and I visiting the iconic Chinese Theatre earlier this month on a 2 day trip to LA. I've known this theatre to feature the movie premieres of all the famous movies I've loved and simple had to see if for myself.
The main theatre is a 920 seat IMAX (3rd largest in the US). We bought tickets to see "The Walk" and were able to sit in the middle of the theatre with only about 20 people attending.
The experience was world class. I loved the various pictures, movie props, and costumes inside the lobby. The visual and audio presentation was top notch, and the movies was good too. I highly recommend watching a movie here if you ever have the time. A+
Wonderful experience, great place to see IMAX films.
Who knew you could still see movies here? The IMAX theater (main auditorium) is bursting with history and makes for a fun movie going experience for an extremely reasonable price.
Saw Joker here opening weekend in their IMAX theater. Ticket was around $21. Concessions were about an average movie theater price. Movie viewing experience was the best experience I ve ever had and I go to the movies verrrryyy often.
Cool place but get's overwhelming with human being's:)
Our Lyft driver told us about this place and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Honestly, it s one of those things you do to say you did it. But I wish the theatre tour was more of a behind the scenes tour and talked about the inspiration behind the look and feel of the theatre.
Definitely worth a visit, but like many places nearby, more for tourists than locals.
Very nice and old fashioned classic cinema. Big screen.
Love it.
Watched a couple movies here. Great visuals and audio in the IMAX Theatre. Would definitely love to go again.
Cool Place to visit as you've probably seen a few premiers here.
Cool tourist attraction. Didn't go inside. The hand and shoe prints outside are cool to look at if your on the Blvd.
Cool spot. I didn't go inside but was out front waiting on a tour. Lots of celebrities foot and handprints to look at.
They have 4D (3D), so you can see all the movies in MX4D. It cost $23.50
The Chinese theater itself is gorgeous, but the area around it especially at night is highly questionable. Lots of trash and odd individuals hanging around. Very touristy that's for sure.
Delightful little VIP tour(included in LA city GoPass) get the inside knowledge of one of the initial red carpet premiere theater.
Classic showcase theater! Incredible screen, sound and popcorn! IMAX screen for those special movies. Seating is old, so don't expect sofa chairs. There is a wonderful little spot to enjoy drinks upstairs if you want a plusher experience. Ask.
What an iconic landmark. The center is quite nice as well and it s quite fun to see all the celebrity hand print on the cement floor from different decades... I still remember when the big movie premiered here like Star Wars or grease
It was surprisingly empty, but sound quality was great and theatre condition was fair. Historic photos line the walls of actors who have had storied careers and staff was pleasant.
Historic gargantuan movie theater now with the hugest IMAX screen I've ever seen
I don't mind the crowd, but the street is dirty. The city gov should get rid off the vendors that are selling stuff in front of the Chinese theater. It's a shame!
We did the tour of the theater and it was amazing, there is a lot of history here and they still do open showings here too, the do premier showings too. The rich history of film and theater lives in these walls. Great time and just soaked in all the talent that place hands and feet on this ground.
