I love this restaurant. It's become our hot-spot for kid-free date nights. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and super helpful to describe anything iyn the menu. The food is a little different - lots of tastes I wouldn't think to put together (their swine Mac n cheese is good!). I love trying different beers/Ciders on tap from local breweries too.

Fantastic atmosphere, and the food is even better. The meatless wonder sandwich and chicken and waffles are favorite specialty items. Their specialty drinks and beer selection is also great.

Had a very pleasant experience. I had a sandwich I believe the tavern 109 club with fries and it was excellent, the service was perfect with no awkward interruptions during our meal and we weren't rushed.

My husband and I had dinner at the 109 a couple nights ago. We had the smoked whitefish dip - excellent - as an appetizer. The hubs ordered the mustard crusted whitefish dinner and I had the lobster mac and cheese. He loved his dinner, mine had too much heat from the chili's so I had it wrapped to take home for someone else to enjoy. I was disappointed but decided to have dessert. Berry crisp with vanilla ice cream and it was fantastic. My husband had a piece of the peanut butter pie wrapped to take home and loved it. Service was good and one lady who helped us offered to remove the mac/cheese from our bill but we felt it wasn't necessary. Nice place.

First time there and the food was excellent! As Arnold said "will be back "! Nice building and handicap accessible . I think that they have a new cook. The food was good before but it is much better now!

Great place to dine in. I've been here a couple of times and the food is cooked great and it has a nice ambiance. The detailing on the burgers is very unique, my bacon was crisp with a sweet taste and I never had anything like it before. The fish and chips were so good and it was a great portion size. Come here, you won't be disappointed!

My first impression entering was poor. The hostess didn't come over for a moment and then took a phone call and made a reservation before helping me. The high tables in the bar area are squeezed together and the path to the restroom only allows for one person to walk in either direction at a time. The beer selection was fine, and I did enjoy my beer. The server did not visit our table often but when she did she was very nice. The apple pumpkin bisque sounded delicious but looked unappetizing and was only edible because I was hungry. It came with a plastic packet of dry and flavorless oyster crackers, which I hadn't expected at a nice restaurant. The bird and blue chicken sandwich was better but still not as good as it had sounded. I was also disappointed by the fried apple twist pie, except for the ice cream. The food that stood out was the truffle salt and Parmesan fries. They were amazing. The flavors and the ratio of crunch to chewiness was perfect. I recommend against going if you need timely service. If I was not in any hurry again, I think I would try Tavern 109 again and order something different with the fries.

I was really looking forward to trying this place. 2 stars only because I liked the atmosphere, the wine and beer list and my time with friends for my roommate s birthday. I got raw and tasteless salmon, soggy vegetables, and a very bad attitude from the chef/manager/idk because she never told me. When I told her I didn t like her dish and wanted something else she told me she would try to re-cook everything on my plate (which was not salavage-able in any way). When I said I d prefer a different meal she refused to take off the overpriced salmon from my check because then there wouldn t be enough for the rest of the night. Not sure what this means or how it answers the question?? Maybe she was offended that I didn t like her food, but the same problem happened to my other friend: it was just a terribly made meal. I surely hope nobody else ordered it. Sorry, not going back because they didn t make it right! Treat your customers better or they won t recommend you!

They take reservations which is awesome. The service was so so, but the food was great. Wouldn t recommend if you don t have a lot of time as it took a while for food and the check, but otherwise a good experience.

This is my first ever review. It s our anniversary and we came in for dinner. There were two empty tables. One at the entrance to the kitchen and one in the bar. We asked for the one in the bar because.... well I didn t want to sit on top of the kitchen for my anniversary. And I told the hostess that. We were told no that we couldn t have the table in the bar area because there weren t any empty tables in the bar. Apparently we look like folks that are not able to tell the difference between an empty table and an occupied table. I even asked the hostess if the table in the bar was reserved. She said no it wasn t but we couldn t sit there. So.... Tavern 109 folks how do you explain that???

Love this place! The drinks are awesome. They are always switching up the drink menu. Great beers! The food is outstanding. The staff is super friendly. We love coming here for dinner or even just stopping in to have a drink. Great atmosphere. Very clean. Great for date night!

Nice quality creative food. Really enjoyed the Ginger Carrot Curry soup. My Swine and Mac entree (pulled pork mixed with mac and cheese) was very tasty and there was enough that I took some home to fill an omelet for breakfast the next day. My gf' club sandwich was very good too. The fries (Parmesan?) were a nice step up from the same ol', same ol' as well.

Standard pub fare with some surprisingly sophisticated offerings! The carrot ginger curry soup was spicy and fantastic, and the meatless wonder was indeed wonderful. I also had a fig margarita that should be served by the pitcher! So good! It was a little tight (tables were very close it seemed), but our service was friendly and fast given it was a game day in Lansing...

Food is decent but i would say overpriced, the staff is great, nice but not in your face. The atmosphere and the decorations are also nice. Went there for lunch and it was a peaceful quiet. Has an interesting menu, but all the really good looking stuff has the price to match. I got the chili mac and it was surprisingly good.

Having been here for the opening five years ago, we've continued to come back even after some mediocre service. However, our latest visit will certainly be our last.

Upon being seated, we did not have enough silverware for our whole party. We only received it after asking specifically for more, and that was after our meal was delivered. We were also only brought three plates for a table of four with our appetizer, and had to ask twice for a fourth plate. We had to ask multiple times for more ketchup as well, which quickly became tiresome.

At the end of our meal, again we were brought two mints for a table of four, and even received a neighboring table's receipt and credit card! Luckily the other table was honest and eager to trade our receipt and credit card for theirs. Yes, the two were switched between our tables which is not only infuriating, but potentially dangerous.

Finally, if a restaurant is going to have coloring pages for children, it's helpful to have the same page for all the children at the table. Providing two different pages inevitably causes arguments. Furthermore, providing a pink page full of material possessions and beauty items, as well as a focus on shopping and consumerism to my daughter is completely unacceptable on multiple levels. In fact, that may have been enough to lose my business altogether. The page with animals that my son received would have been perfectly acceptable for them both, as well as any other child in your establishment.
