Brilliant collection and lovely temporary exhibitions. Impressive works on display. Nice location by the river.
Brilliant collection and lovely temporary exhibitions. Impressive works on display. Nice location by the river.
soryy. the previous reciew was for the tate britain. get bus 87 or 88 from parliament square. the stop is a few yards from the entrance. the tate modern is at the millenium bridge which is equally easy to get to. the impressionists are at the tate Britain
Aftermath exhibition beyond description. One of the most unsettling, moving, memorable exhibitions I have seen here.
I went here to see the Hockney exhibition and it was great!
Always has great exhibitions, love coming here whenever I visit London!
2019: This visit l decided to challenge myself as an artist, especially with visiting a place l know so well.. Or do l?
Today l wanted to go beyond the art on display and see the whole building as a work of art, looking through gaps, looking up, looking down, looking sideways and looking beyond.
Here l am creating a portrait of the Tate, exploring unknown spaces, capturing space in between a busy exhibition, a wall, a corner free from objects. Places l am cut off from, spaces that are private, unaccessible, a sense of restrictions, barriers, cctv, security watching my every move.
What is the Tate beyond being the Guardian of protecting, showing and caring for art collections. The recent photographs is an attempt to capture, express, explore my journey that the Tate took me on.

2018: Can't get enough, always something challenging and stimulating.
When l first came to Tate Britain, it was called Tate gallery. I was 19yrs old in the early 80's and encountered Francis Bacon. It was a disturbing experience as l had never seen art like it so had to leave the exhibition. Of corse as one gets older and discovers more of art and artists, Bacon became an interest.
My feelings are you have to experience what art is for you, so l tend not single out artists , this place is a gem, it has filled me with wonder, intrigue, excitement and fear.
We are all on a journey in life, artists captures a moment of someone else's life experiences, be open, be critical, enjoy or hate, the gallery welcomes you with open arms and it's free!
A truly remarkable collection, perfectly curated, great location and facilities. Entry is free. A reminder of the civic wealth that we all need to support. Highly recommended.
Went to an exhibition but in spite of the timed ticket it was far to busy.it didn't help with the heating being on either.
Wonderful place for a date. Excellent curatorship and installations. Thank you so much for this institution !!
Not too busy, with a good collection of Turner paintings. The exhibits change, and the floor map doesn't necessarily reflect that.
It's a another FREE museum! This place is overflowing with some of the best art in the world! I whole heartedly recommend going here and spending the day enriching yourself.
Compulsory visit, total experience, to be tried personally and therefore indescribable, before leaving leave 5 Pound ....
We are crazy about pre-raphaelites! So it's fabulous. Always so nice to go to Tate Britain
Regular exhibitions of quality art. A bit out of the way though.
A leaser of the museums in London I suppose. It is not for tourists on a tight schedule - for that, there is always the National Gallery, the British Museum and the V&A. Being less popular, you get to have so much for space to wander and explore. Quite a large section is free but some sections are restricted to paying guests and members. All exhibits references the British art scene through the centuries.
Free admission but in many exhibitions you have to pay. And as the name says "modern" you have to like nonsense.
Very good Van Gogh Exhibition xx but far too crowded to fully enjoy
A truly wonderful collection of British and international art - and all for free, if you're short of funds!
Very productive overall as meeting point. Impressionist disappointing.
With many stuning and free exhibiitions it's a must see. That said, it doesn't have the same chill vibe as Tate Modern. There's lots to see, but it is a little touristy. Even when it's very busy, the cafe have odd hours, stopping to serve food after 3pm which I find bizarre considering it's still rammed. The whole place shuts at 6, which is very early. So I would recommend take a couple of hours and go earlier. Between Tate Britain and the V&A, the V&A has more interesting exhibitions generally.
It's quite good. It has some good paintings on it. I noticed many landscapes and animals on the pictures. Also some sexy ladies with long hair and pale skin. Oh, and a cool room dedicated to a pal who used to make special effects for old adventure movies. Nice.
The lesser-known cousin to the Tate Modern - this museum is definitely worth the stop-in. Tate Britain features pretty much only British artists, so you ll find some great collections here, like the JMW Turner collection here is STUNNING! This museum has quite a large body of work and it s housed in a truly beautiful setting. Free entry, as most museums in London are.
An incredible building to contain pieces of art and beautiful paintings
A great place to visit. The exhibits are always well thought out.
Is not as spectacular as expected. Special exhibition costs extra, which was not the case with many other museums.
Eclectic museum but very interesting to discover British art.
Clean, spacious, well-lit, lovely staff, and I prefer the more traditional forms of art displayed here.
Free Entry to Worlds Greatest Collection of Turners! What's not to like
This is a must see. There are a number of great museums here and this is one of them. The modern is also nice but very large
I love it here! The Tate Modern is interesting, but I prefer this iteration by far. I can't count how many times I've come back here to wander through the Turner Gallery specifically, which is enchanting, and showcases the many different periods of his art extremely well. The architecture of the building itself is also magnificent and is well worth a look.
Always a pleasure to visit the Tate. The exhibition William Blake interested me a lot but I must admit that more context and explanations of the topics treated would have been appreciable. Indeed, these very special religious themes sometimes call for very specific and less well-known situations. We would have liked to see plaques that were used to make these beautiful engravings.
Fantastic visit today. Really well displayed and excellent social distancing without feeling restricted. Cloakroom did not appear to be open but toilets are as is the bookshop. Do visit but you must book, even for the free visits.
A fantastic Art Gallery in a beautiful building next to the River Thames.
Wonderful exhibition of an Gogh and easy to navigate.
Quite different from the Tate Modern but just as good. There is lots to see and do. Obviously there's the art and sculpture but also activities for the kids and the Art Trolley is always fun and diverting for them.
Definitely worthy of a visit if you fancy art and happen to be in London. Exhibits are free except for some specific exhibitions.
Fantastic art and great space. Attended a LGBTQ++ festival here and it was just brilliant!
How can you not be amazed by such a wonderful space and diversity of art.
Fantastic variety of art work, from very modern sculpture to more traditional forms. A great time with friends or family to start interesting conversations or simply appreciate it together. Good for art students or artists to visit to More
Tate Modern seems to get more love and publicity, but I'd rather visit Tate Britain given the choice. A far greater selection of art, there's also something on display for everyone. The BP Walk Through British Art is incredible - great crash course.
So much art and cultural heritage to enjoy, for free!
Excellent Covid security measures and qualified personnel. Really varied and interesting exhibition
Great day out. Went for an exhibition through work and thoroughly enjoyed the time.
Tate Britain
Art gallery
Loved it. Not over crowded so it was possible to really enjoy the exhibits.
Went to Tate Britain to see Van Gogh exhibition. Wide range of food and drinks options in the cafeteria
Excellent Van Gogh exhibition. Almost overcrowded for the time slot but just about OK
It was a wonderful museum. There were many modern art and sculptures on display. I don't think it's a place to visit, but it's good for those who want to relax because they have time.
Tate has an amazing majestic hall right at is heart, and a beautiful seashell marble staircase at the entrance. Go for the architecture of you are not an art fan.
Never should have been on a Saturday, otherwise, super.
A good exhibition on Queer Art, though we were rushed through the last galleries due to them wanting us entirely out of the building a few minutes prior to their actual closing time. A shame, because the primary source descriptions of actual experience seemed compressed at this end, while stretches and suppositions line the notes in the first galleries.
pirmyausya turi whiskey ir apjuret ir pamashiti porridge imanoma nupirkti susidometi del paskutinu sugenerotu book mados ape buvo homosexualum ir meno istoriya
Small but worth it because of temporary exhibitions especially
So much set up work in progress it was a bit chaotic.
