Met with James Haley this morning about our house moisture problem. James not only did a fantastic inspection that was very thorough and he explained every detail to myself and my wife. James Haley should be considered an enormous asset to Tar Heel Basement Systems. I thank him for his time and friendliness.

Very professional & knowledgeable. The crew of Shawn, Ian, Trevor and Carlson were on time and finished the job earlier than expected. The crew cleaned up while they worked which was much appreciated. They tested the system several times while educating us on different what if scenarios. I highly recommend this company.
WOW First Class experience from start to finish. The instillation crew arrived on time each day. They explained what the plan was for each days work and showed us before and after pictures of what was done. Jaimz Tranthan, Foreman of the job along with William Roberson and Stephen Long were very professional and answered each and every question my wife and I came up with. Within 24 hours after the work was completed we could tell a difference in the air quality in our home. To be honest we were and still amazed. I would highly recommend Tar Heel Basement.
Matt Johnson is simply the best! He always goes over and above and never has to be asked. He is professional, courteous, quick and thorough. With Mike Smith, Matt Johnson and the wonderful office staff you can't lose. We have had countless problems fixed and made better than ever by Tarheel Basement systems. Thanks guys. You're the best !
Zack Mitchell and Ashanti were fantastic!! They were both so nice and we were very impressed with the quality of their work and efficiency. Our foundation is in a much more stable position than it was just two days ago!
Tar Heel Basement Systems has been great to work with. Our basement used to flood with even a tiny amount of rain. After spending hours pumping out water, we realized there had to be a better way.
Since our original pump installment, we've had a few issues due to the abnormally large amount of water that flows into our basement. Each time (three in total), Tar Heel Basement Systems has fixed these issues promptly and at no cost to us. They firmly stand behind their work and put customer satisfaction high on their priority list. They will ensure that water stays out of your basement.
We are completely pleased with the entire staff at Tarheel basement. Seth came out first was very helpful, never felt like he was pushing service on me just gave honest answer to what our basement needed. Scheduling was easy and really worked it into our schedule. I was blown away though with how clean and efficient Dale, Nathan and Robert were. they literally left our basement much cleaner than they found it. We couldn't be happier with our service and would recommend this company too everyone.
Tim Martin was super professional, straight to the point and thorough with answering our questions. Refreshing to have honest, helpful service provider who wants to help you!
The field inspector spent a lot of time making sure he understood my entire issue and then thoroughly explained how the company would fix it. Then the crew arrived promptly and finished my project in 1 day. Everyone was very pleasant, professional and Robert answered all of my questions. I feel very confident that my water problem has been solved.
Orville, Ken and Kyle were first class workers and Orville worked with me to explain what he was doing during the job installation. They all deserve a Five! Thank!
Tim Martin over at Tar Heel Basement Systems was here today to talk me through much needed repairs to my home. He is really a fun person to work with! He is knowledgeable and clear about the work needed and did not try to sell me things I don't need. I recommend talking with him about anything you need done to your home's basement, crawlspace, or foundations!
A highly satisfied customer here! Amazed at what these men can do. Great crew (Zach, Edward, and Brandon) who were professional every step of the way. They called ahead and arrived promptly. These were very conscientious, kind, and hardworking gentlemen. Their worksite was very neat considering what they had to come in and do. Our shrub bed brick borders were neatly stacked out of the way as they prepped the site. Just an overall superb job. Grateful THB customer in Cary, NC.
Bruce Carrington, Robert and Brian, did an outstanding job; courteous and friendly. When I had a questions or was just interested in their work progress Bruce was more than happy to show and explain the process to me. Bruce took pride in his work and company. The job was finished in less than two days! Great job!
The folks at Tar Heel Basement Systems do an outstanding job! Top Notch all the way. They were very professional, informative, and they finished the work as scheduled. I highly recommend them to anyone!!
It's been a little over a year since we had our basement sealed and we couldn't be happier. It's prevented mold and kept excess humidity in check that kept us from enjoying our newly renovated basement. It's absolutley worth the investment!
Tim Martin was very thorough and explained everything in detail and was very respectful and caring... I highly recommend this company and Tim Martin...Thank you, Tim Martin for showing me the condition of my crawl space with your pictures, I didn t realize it was that bad...
Just had a sump pump installed in our crawl, due to water issues in a heavy rain. John and James performed the work. Very courteous, explaind the work, before during and after. Hoping this solves the issue. Great customer service.
Getting our crawlspace fixed has been a long process but after meeting with several companies, we decided on Tar Heel Basement Systems and I'm glad we did. My wife and I couldn't be more impressed with job, James and John did in our crawlspace. It looks absolutely amazing. The guys were very nice and are clearly professionals at their trade.
Hired to wet-proof crawlspace in our 35 year old home that constantly had water collecting there. Workers were all timely, courteous, and knowledgeable of their tasks. Did a great job.
What a great company to work with! This is the second time we have worked with them and like the first time we are very happy with them. Zach, Nate, Erik and Brandon did a wonderful job, very courteous, and made sure we are satisfied and happy with their work. They left everything neat and clean. Lisa from their office was also very helpful, as was Chris who came to assess what needs to be done - Mr. & Mrs. Hodges
While this business was responsive up front, be aware they can turn out to be like every other contractor that stops caring about you once they take your money. We had a job done three months ago and up until that point they were responsive. The guys who did the work were courteous. That s where the positives stop. I have been trying to get reports and proof of work from them since August and the person I was working with stopped responding a month ago. Additionally, the company also asked if a family could come see my finished crawl space and offered a gift card for our trouble. Once the family came, this company again stopped responding and I haven t heard back in a month. Extremely frustrated because this wasn t a cheap job and I expected better of them.
After reading the amazing reviews for the crews at Tarheel Foundation Systems, I wondered how those testimonials could be possible, but Team JJM clearly demonstrated the dedication to make such descriptions possible. The work area was well kept throughout the job. The team was open to all of our concerns and took the time to fully answer our questions. Most surprising to us was how quiet they were as they worked and the precision and efficiency of their workmanship.
We now have a neat and clean crawl space and the air quality of our home is more comfortable. We look forward to watching the system perform through seasonal changes.
Brian Reich kept Taarheel's appointment with us. He conducted a most thorough inspection of our basement and listened to our concerns carefully. When he returned Brian presented our options clearly, explaining each one. We found him to be friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable concerning his work. We look forward to working with him and Tarheel's team.
I have crawlspace encapsulation scheduled with THBS in about a month, and I'll add another review after the work is done. Meanwhile I am giving 5 stars to their employee Daniel Messer, who has come and given me estimates for the crawlspace and also for garage foundation repairs. Daniel has gone above and beyond all expectations, answering my endless questions via email at all times of the day and night, patiently explaining, researching and giving alternatives. If the actual work is anywhere near as good as the service Daniel has given, the 5 star rating will be repeated for the work itself. Daniel is an awesome employee.
********EDIT.....ELEVEN MONTHS LATER: It will be a year in March 2020 since I had my crawlspace encapsulation done. A few months after the original work, I found an issue where some ground water was getting in due to a small error in one spot. After trying to contact Daniel, my original field inspector, and discovering he had left for a different job, I put in a warranty service call. I wasn't happy with the response from the service person who came to check it, and complained to the company. THBS immediately had their service manager, Ronnie Whittaker, contact me and come look at the issue. He worked with me to develop a plan to fix the issue and the possible cause behind it, and sent a crew to re-do the section where the problem occurred. This was done under warranty at no cost to me. After watching the area for a number of months, it appears the issue is fixed and all is well. My 5-Star Rating stands, and I can't say enough good things about Ronnie, he was awesome.
As for the benefits of encapsulation, let me say that I am impressed. There was concern that the dehumidifier they installed in the crawlspace might raise my power bill, but it turned out the opposite! My summer power bills are a little lower now, thanks to the fact that the air in the crawlspace is much drier, so air that naturally rises through spaces into the living area from there, is no longer humid. My home interior is also more comfortable as a result, and I don't have my air conditioner running as long on hot humid days as it used to prior to this work. My heat pump used to struggle keeping the humidity in the house below 55%, often having to run to lower than set temperatures in order to lower the humidity. This past summer, the humidity always stayed at or below 55% in the house without the AC running longer then needed to reach the temp set point. This is an added win I did not anticipate.
Tim Martin came and looked at my crawl space this morning. I had gotten a very high estimate from another company that didn't meet my needs. Tim took the time to go over everything and I am so excited to be getting MORE than I had hoped for with Tar Heel Basement Systems. Thanks Tim
Gennaro Amato came out to our property less than 24 hours after reaching out to Tar Heel Basement Systems. It is the third quote we hav gotten on our basement issues. I have been in real estate for 7 years so I have seen over 50 home inspections and I know that even 'decent work' fails relatively quickly. Gennaro showed me what Tar Heel Basement Solutions would do for us and showed me why it is a permanent solution. I had not seen a proposal with the solutions that were unique to our soil table. Knowing what I know from seeing so many home inspections I would say Tar Heel Basement Solutions, although they were not the cheapest quote, they are the best value you can get!
From Ryan, Who surveyed our basement and gave us a proposal, to Stacy in the office to Gary Hacker, and his crew Garry and Steven who performed the most amazing job in two days, leaving us with a clean and dry basement. We couldn't be more pleased. We are sure they worked overtime to complete the job. We would highly recommend them to anyone who has a wet basement. Thank you Tarheel Basement Systems.
Ken DeCamp and Devonta arrived on time began work as soon as they arrived, and were very professional in their attitude. Very impressed with the out-come.
We are impressed with the entire process of working with Tar Heel Basement Systems, from the initial inspection to the encapsulation of our crawl space. David Kessel and his crew worked incredibly hard, exhibiting the perfect blend of professional expertise, effective communication, and helpful friendliness. David answered all our questions patiently, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the installation. Thank you!
I went out of town for work, when I came back the job was finished. All the trash was gone, it was hard to tell that anyone was even here. They did a really good job.
Tarheel Basement Systems just completed a three-day project to waterproof my damp basement. During this time the three workers (Orville S., Ken D. and Drew) were always punctual, polite and extremely competent in all aspects of the job, keeping me continually apprised of their progress and providing me the opportunity to have input as it progressed. I highly recommend this company.
Wow! 1 year later and I could eat off the floor of my crawlspace. They did the most amazing job encapsulating it. Seemed expensive at the time, but to think of all the headaches they saved is well worth it. I just had Terminex do a termite inspection, and they said that ours was the BEST crawlspace they've ever seen. So yeah, I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. I'm thinking of putting a TV down there so I have a hide out. Here's the before pic (YUCK!)... I'll need to take an after...apparently I was so overcome by the pristine condition that I didn't save the pic. It looks like an operating room!
Nate was awesome to work with, and so helpful with the contract process. Zack, Doug, and Nick, did excellent work, and communicated throughout the work process. They were on time, and completed the work, as scheduled. I had a great experience with Tarheel Basement Systems, and would highly recommend the company for your projects.
I am very please with the work we had done to our basement. Our salesman Brian Pirone was very pleasant to work with from day 1 to the final minute. He was willing to meet with us several times to make sure we were all on the same page and ensure that everything would be properly handled. Once we started the project, Ian was supervising the whole project and kept me updated throughout the 2 day project. Both men were very willing to answer all my questions I had for each step of the project. Tar Heel has been able to relieve all stress that came from a flooding basement and I cannot be any happier with the results. I highly recommend using them for all basement issues! Thank you Brian and Ian, you guys are great!
Tar Heel did a fantastic job on my crawl space repairs! I'm very happy with the work they did. Jorge, Pablo, Juan, and Hector did great work and I couldn't be happier! Very friendly and they answered all of my questions! I would recommend this company and this crew to anyone in need of service! Can't thank you enough!
I hired this company to do my basement and I am starting to regret the decision already. First thing I was called at 745 am letting me know that the crew would be at my home at 8 am. I should have been told that when the appointment was made as I would have informed the company that time was not going to work as I work 3rd shift and normally do not get home until 8:45. The crew was polite and said they did not mind waiting. I was not properly informed about the process. I do not like to be caught off guard. Secondly there was a total different layout than I was told about. I never received a copy of the layout. It would have been nice to have been included in the entire process being that this system isn't cheep. My basement was 90% finished I was told that the drywall would have to be removed. The day before my appointment I removed the drywall myself due to all the many handymen I called weeks prior that said they would show but never did. Anyway I was shocked when the crew explained that the framing would need to be removed and they are willing to cut the lumber half way in order to get started. Okay lets be clear my grip is not with the crew in the least bit. However again this system is not cheap and to add to my expenses you want to cut good lumber in half and have me repurchase all new lumber to have the basement framed out? As they continued to explained what they would be doing I honestly felt like the bait and switch tactic had been applied. Right at that moment I should have went with my gut and canceled. There were other red flags that I didn't pay attention to but I guess I'll have to chalk this up to an expensive lesson. The crew is currently working as I write this partial review ....so we will see if Tar Heel can make this left a Right. Due to my partial review I am optimistic. The second day.....Well, unfortunately the final day didn't get much better. I took an unpaid night off to be present for the crew and they showed up late. While backing the truck up a tree and power line was hit. Luck is on there side no damage was done. Immediately Kyle proceeds to pass a message from the owner of which I immediately cut him off as I did not and do not feel it is professional for him to explain anything other than the job he is doing. I read the comment of the company saying that they would reach out to me. This is unacceptable and how things always get misconstrued when multiple people are involved in giving details. I know some would say I am going overboard. However, this is a business that I have contracted a service. Therefore I hold them to a much higher standard of professionalism. I had several missed calls from the electrician that I felt should have never had to contact me in the first place as I was told that if I used Tar Heels' electrician everything would be coordinated with there work crew. Everything about this process annoyed me. I spent almost 4 and half hours with Stephen there sale rep who definitely misrepresented this entire install. The crew cut corners to keep from doing extra work. I asked Kyle( the lead crew member) if the pipe that connected to the pump would over extend the dry wall he said that it would be behind the framing and the drywall would cover it. Upon inspecting the pipe clearly will extended the drywall completed. I asked him about this and now of coarse he has amnesia. He states when the manager comes out to inspect he knows more and maybe he could do something different. They say you pay for what you get...but do you really ?! it doesn't stop there. Shannon hesitates to let me in the basement as I am pushing pass him I see water all over the basement floor. He is explaining that the water pipe is damage that there was obviously a previously leak and that explains most of the water damage on the wall. I sorry I am not buying it....first why would you continue to let the water run to mix the cement when there was a second alternative closer to your work area and why is there no decay on the studs? Overall I would not recommend or use them for any future services.
Brian Reich was very professional and personable in his checking my basement, which has a waterproofing system for 25 yrs. that had no problems done by a company no longer in business. With the extensive rain and storms, I had a small leak, in an area of 2 ft. x 6 ft., with damp carpet. He recommended some procedures that I am not ready to explore, as the leak stopped, and I will monitor. If I decided to do anything more, I would trust him and Tarheel to handle my problem. I referred a friend who needed her basement waterproofed. They did an outstanding job in the work done timely, efficiently, and clean up was great.
Had them out recently to give an estimate for some repair work around the house. A couple spots in the basement wall, and a problematic retaining wall. They sent technician Brian Reich, and he very thoroughly looked around and without anything like high pressure selling, pointed out several spots that I had not noticed. You would not be disappointed by working with this company!
Tar Heel Basement Systems sealed up our crawl space a few years ago, and the improvement was incredible. Josh Jones just came out for an annual inspection, and he was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and just one of the nicest people I ve ever met! Can t recommend Josh and Tar Heel enough!
Thanks to Devonta, Jesse and Jaishan for the work in our basement. We especially appreciate the efforts you took to contain the dust by hanging plastic! The trio worked well together explaining the process as they worked.
Zach,Doug and Q did a great job on my chimney today! They were personable and professional and pushed through all the obstacles!Thank you Tar Heel Basement Systems!
Josh Jones, Service Technician, did an excellent job in serving my dehumidifier and clearing out the clogged drain line. He was very personally and friendly and did an great job in explaining what he did and let me know of issues that may occur with my dehumidifier, since it was rather old system. Thank you much, Josh!
We cannot say enough good things about Tar Heel Basement Systems! From the install, to addressing a small snag (response above & beyond), to today s visit from Mack - stellar company. Need to give shout out to Mack our Tech - not only does he know his stuff, his communication and customer service are truly exceptional!
Gennaro was very professional and provided a detailed and thorough inspection. Tar Heel Basement Systems was the only company that responded to our inquiry. We are, unfortunately, not ready to do our project at this time. When we are ready, you bet we ll be calling Gennaro and Tar Heel Basement Systems!
The crew with Zach, Nick, and Doug did an excellent job stabilizing a bowing / cracked basement wall and adjusted to each surprise that arose with the job.
Had a contract signed waiting for them to do the work. After weeks had to call them up to find out that who I did the contract with was not employed anymore and they would get to me quickly. Never happen, had to go to a local contractor to complete the work and still haven't heard from them.
I had a very positive experience with Tar Heel Basement Systems. The Design Specialist that I worked with, Brian Reich, was extremely knowledgeable, professional, punctual, and patient. He went above and beyond by answering all of my questions, reviewing an extensive proposal, and not pressuring in any way. I would highly recommend Brian and this company to anyone needing any of the services they offer.
Our home was flooded for months from public drinking water. Our subflooring was at 38% moisture. Sam ensured us Tarheel could fix our home and crawlspace. They did just that!!!! This company is amazing. The mold was scrubbed and removed. The brand new encapsulation was installed. And our subflooring is now at 8%. Tarheel Basements you saved our home. You deserve 10 stars for your work ethics and honesty. We would be screwed without the work your team pulled off. We thank you.
Tar Heel Basement Systems came out to stabilize our foundation and help with some standing water in the basement. From the estimate done by Nate, to the job done by Zack M, Doug, Jesse, and crew - they were prompt, professional, and took their time explaining everything. After a lot of rain, our basement is now dry and we're happy. Thanks!
Zach, Doug, and Nick did an amazing job. Work looks great and had no issues at all. The guys finished well before they thought they would. A+++ crew and company!!
My experience with Tar Heel Basement's representative, Tim, at our initial home visit was excellent. Tim was proactive in looking for foundation/waterproofing issues based on his experience with older homes, and he spoke knowledgeably on every problem/solution discussed. Specific details were not left to general hypothesis, but were discussed directly and clearly. For one basic example, we have water seeping in through concrete blocks. Tim diagnosed the issue, explained the physics credibly, and showed why weepholes draining into an interior footer-drain would help relieve pressure and leaking on the wall. This type of thorough conversation left me, as the customer, aware of my choices and their consequences, without undue fear-mongering or over-reliance on unverifiable promises. Even so, I would be comfortable relying on Tim's word, as his integrity is evident in his honesty and the way he watches over his promises. We are waiting on an engineer's report before we decide which company to go with, but you should certainly give Tarheel Basement a chance. They have an excellent array of solutions for any waterproofing problem (some of which are exclusive to them). I have thoroughly researched and had visit four companies, so I can say Tarheel Basement should not be left out. Their staff, breadth and quality of solutions, flexibility in financing, and warranties are all stand out.
Tim stopped by today and gave me a full inspection of my basement. I was happy to know that it is fixable and that I am able to finance to deal with this issue. Thanks for the support Tim and answering all my questions!!
Thanks so much for sending John Boy and RJ to the rescue!! My mother's foundation was in serious trouble. Floors were sinking, the hearth was breaking away from the fireplace and chinaware would rattle as you walked by. John Boy and RJ worked nonstop and very well with each other. My mother was very anxious about having her house lifted up but these guys were so smooth and confident. Soon after they arrived she sensed they knew what they were doing. On the second day when all the jacks were in place, RJ worked his magic with the jacks as John Boy went from room to room communicating to RJ below. It was like they were fine tuning a giant instrument! What a difference. John Boy walked us through the rooms and explained everything to my mother. They were both very kind and gentle and cleaned up really well too!! I would highly recommend this company and especially this team! This was written by Donna!!
Great guys that get the job done right and quickly. Friendly and professional that clean after themselves hehe. Would definitely recommend them to other people that needs it.
Met with Brian Reich...very knowledgeable about this subject. Great demeanor... Solution to the problem, was very well explained..in detail.. Thanks, Brian... 5 stars..for Brian.
Devonta Scott and Jesse Crawford did a fantastic job. Under severe heat they were still able to complete an extensive project in just two days. I was very please with the outcome.
Tim Martin was really informal about the system and very helpful he was very pleasant to be around was also kind and respectful we really appreciate Tim Martin thank you once again
fast service, great price, and very friendly staff. I would highly recommend. They worked with me on pricing and suggestions i did not at anytime feel pressured to buy something i did not need.
Orville, Ken and Kyle did an excellent job. Very friendly and polite. Insured we had everything we needed and walked us through everything before and after. We are very pleased with the work and ready for days of rain and a dry basement.
Tim was very knowledgeable and was up front about what they could and could not do, and what made sense for my situation. I would recommend them highly.
We are very pleased with the outstanding work Tar Heel did for us. They were fairly priced, neat, and very professional. My team was JJM. They worked steady all day and then cleaned up all the mess before they left.
I will highly recommend them to anyone with a crawl space that is damp and molded. Make sure to ask for team JJM you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!
Tim Martin came by to give us an estimate. Very friendly, gave us the information we needed, and left us feeling confident that we could trust his knowledge. Happy with our free estimate as well
The crew did a great job. Kevin, Chris and Stephen worked hard all day without much a break. They cleaned up whatever mess comes with the project, hauled away the debris and the crawl space looked great.
I had a humdity problem at our Mountain Home. Ronnie Whitaker and Tar Heel basement came up with a solution. They did a super job. They fixed the problem. The best part is they follow up to be sure that their system they recommended is working. The people answering the phone in the office are courteous and they come when they say they are!!
Josh was Very help, knowledgable, and explained what he could see as problem areas. We laid out a plan of action- ie rodent problem and cleaning out old duct work -which Tar Heel systems does not do. He was quite pleasant to talk with and not pushy at all. I highly recommend.
We had a whole house dehumidifier, sump pump and battery backup installed (among other things) by Tar Heel in 2016. Today was yearly maintenance and Josh Jones was the technician who came out. Josh was very professional and friendly. He asked several times if I had questions or concerns and addressed those that I had. He was very kind to my dogs and cats and they tried to "assist" him, lol. I'm requesting that Josh become "our" technician for service calls and maintenance.
Tar Basement systems did a great job managing the water problems in our church basement. The entire job took just over a week, and the regular crew of Austin Moody, Robert Hacker, and Dale Howell was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and treated us with great respect. We are very pleased with their work, and would highly recommend them to anyone experiencing problems with water in their basement.
We had concrete work done on our front porch. They left porch with cracks and the brickwork began to separate from the concrete and is now about to fall. We had the company out to see the shoddy work and they wanted to charge us $10,000 to fix their mess on top of the $7.000 we had to pay for it initially!! I do not recommend these people!
EDIT 11/27/2020: After our review, we were contacted by management to discuss our issues. They came out, surveyed our situation, and started formulating a plan to fix the problem. After several weeks and several consultations, they developed a plan and repaired our porch beyond our expectations. They stood behind their commitment to fix the problem and did so exceptionally. Originally I said I wouldn't recommend this company, and I want to reverse my statement. I do recommend this company due to their commitment to excellence.
From start to finish Tar Heels Basement Systems was exceptional. We had been contemplating for years whether to have this work done and are glad we did. Our crawlspace looks fantastic and is almost a joy to go into now. We haven't noticed the musty smells we previously had and feel much more secure in the air quality of our home. We would highly recommend their services.
Adam Canter provided more value for our home and the foreman David Kesselj and Christian Williams stayed until the job was done. Excellent service and value exceeded what I expected. All the promises they gave were kept.
Recently Tar Heel Basement Systems completed a water proofing job in my basement. Prior to hiring this company, I interviewed representatives from four or five similar businesses in the Greensboro area. Tim Martin was the field inspector and was very professional in explaining the available products for my water problems.
The instillation team led by Gary Hacker and his two assistants, Tommy and Tim, arrived on time and completed the job with exceptional skill. Gary explained every question I asked and I asked many.
I would highly recommend Tar Heel Basement Systems for serious water issues.
Tar Heel set up an initial appointment for mid to end of July back in May. They called back and had found an opening for someone to come and check my house out. Nate Zook was a great rep. He explained everything, didn't try to over sell what we needed. Even found a problem that need to be fixed before their team could come and and place jacks and wrap the crawl space up.
The team from Raleigh, Jaimz, Jesse and William came in on Monday and were finished by Wednesday afternoon. They were polite, answered my questions, were informative of the process and what to expect.
