Before transferring to Swinburne I had a 3.86 GPA (on 4 point scale). This was important to me, because I had been seeking work in the USA, and was also considering post-grad study in the States, where GPA is everything.
What I've since discovered is that Swinburne does not count your transfer credits (even if the prior study was at Swinburne) towards your GPA. They also run very difficult exams (weighing 40% +), which feel like they are designed to deflate students, rather than test their knowledge. I even had an exam where a multiple choice option was "I guess I should have studied harder". Not funny! The class average grade for that exam was 45%. The best average exam grade that I have seen since studying at Swinburne is 61%. Terrible.
Now that I've moved to the USA for work and am looking at post-grad study, my options are limited because my GPA at Swinburne fell to 2.9.
If post-grad study at a good school is important to you, reconsider your options before applying to Swinburne.

HORRIBLE.

HORRIBLE.

The system they operate is the worst. I am currently studying online and was told it would be work at my own pace.

Yet every 3 units you have to re enrol into the course which takes a minimum of two weeks wait period.

In my experience it was much longer due to the accounts department being unable to send an invoice. i couldn't pay without it and they refused to let me continue with the course until i did, it was a stalemate and an absolute joke.

i sent emails and called the student hotline many times and just got told to call back and "chase it up" each time.

If i had my time over i would be going with another company and would recommend to anyone looking to study online to steer clear unless you want major headaches.

Edit: Swinburne replying to this comment telling me to email their exam teams about my experience WHEN I ALREADY DID and they DISREGARDED everything.

Was prepared for an exam w/ a unit and the international company that Swinburne Online offshored their exam service to invaded my privacy and prevented me from sitting my exam. Spent hours with their horrible customer service and nothing ended up fixed. Now Swinburne tells me randomly that they want me to sit the exam on THE DAY of. We all have lives, that's why we chose Swinburne Online and now I am at risk of failing the exam if I don't immediately leave work to sit the exam. During a PANDEMIC. My experience w/ Swinburne Online has been nothing short of disappointing and an extreme lack of compassion despite me doing nothing wrong at all.

Great organistion, convenient, accessible and have learnt so much. 80% of the ELA's are wonderful however, I've had 2 or 3 who are quite terrible and made my teaching period hell! In saying this, I would still recommended.

Put simply: Average content, poor delivery, terrible tools, rubbish engagement.

Having undertaken online study with Deakin and CQU using quite good online systems, I was majorly disappointed with what I've had provided by Swinburne Online. The Blackboard system is terrible, very unintuitive and inefficient to navigate, check and use. Content for the courses I've participated it is purely undertaking reading of a online textbook, there is very very little additional multimedia and lectures/tutorials. 'Engagement' relies on a student's participation in a forum (of which is terrible to read and use) is purely, "read chapter X of the eText, then undertake this task on the forum". Student participation is extremely low as the benefit of undertaking the tasks is either non-existent or very poorly articulated.

I would not recommend this institution to anyone nor would I consider a qualification from this institution valuable as chances are, the graduate would only know how to recite a textbook as that is all is expected for weekly undertakings and assessments.
