Put simply: Average content, poor delivery, terrible tools, rubbish engagement.

Having undertaken online study with Deakin and CQU using quite good online systems, I was majorly disappointed with what I've had provided by Swinburne Online. The Blackboard system is terrible, very unintuitive and inefficient to navigate, check and use. Content for the courses I've participated it is purely undertaking reading of a online textbook, there is very very little additional multimedia and lectures/tutorials. 'Engagement' relies on a student's participation in a forum (of which is terrible to read and use) is purely, "read chapter X of the eText, then undertake this task on the forum". Student participation is extremely low as the benefit of undertaking the tasks is either non-existent or very poorly articulated.

I would not recommend this institution to anyone nor would I consider a qualification from this institution valuable as chances are, the graduate would only know how to recite a textbook as that is all is expected for weekly undertakings and assessments.
