The Pan Men gardens are beautiful. During the autumn season the colours are amber gold red. Summer is really hot but everything is a sea of shades of green.
The staff here are friendly. If you come here, try The Garden Brasserie's suzhou pork noodles. The pork is moist, tender & best of all, no overpowering boar smell.
The staff here are very warm & friendly too.
When you come to Suzhou City, this is must place to stay.
For foreigners, it will be an exotic experience!
Only, quality of breakfast and lunch could improve more.
But in general, it was nice to stay in this hotel!
A unique experience staying at this location. It feels like you're at a Lord's compound. You can visit the public garden out back without paying the entrance fee if you are a guest at the hotel. Breakfast has a wide assortment of food from pastrami to sushi to Chinese fare. The best part for me was the architecture. It looks like it is from the feudal era from outside. Inside has been updated to modern amenities. I'd say it's the best in Suzhou for the experience and sites.
I booked two premier rooms with king size beds and breakfast for two friends, three nights.
On the night of checking in, one of the room has a bad smell of cigarettes. Front desk upgraded the room to a business suite for free immediately after I called to complain. Very prompt action and proactive attitude to make sure guests are comfortable and happy.
I would agree with some other reviewers that the decoration is a bit dated. However, facilities in and outside the room worked fine.
Great location with complementary access to the Pan Men Historical heritage site. Fantastic architecture design that embeds the hotel seamlessly into its culture and historical ambient.
My only complain is that the coffee and tea in the lounge cost at least twice as much as anywhere else in the city.
Unique architecture
The breakfast was good and plentiful. The gardens on the site were good for an afternoon stroll. The bed was nice & comfortable with excellent linens. The couch was well worn and needed to be replaced. The layout for the whole building was a mishmash of separate additions. Not convenient at all, Afternoon tea & happy hour were held so far from our room, we didn't even take advantage.
Very nice and traditional hotel in a historic neighborhood of Suzhou. The hotel is very quiet and comfortable with a reasonably diverse offer of both Chinese and western dishes. The breakfast buffet is extensive and of high quality and there are a couple of lunch and dinner restaurants with their own particular focus. Amenity wise the hotel offers a spa, both indoors and external swimming pools and a children activity room. The style of the hotel shows traditionally Chinese architecture and aesthetics and, best of all perhaps, is located next to a historic garden showing buildings (pagodas, bridges and temples) going back to the 11th century. Entrance to the park is free for hotel guests.

We stayed 3 nights in this structure and on the last day we realized that under the bed they had never cleaned. The rest all ok very nice and friendly staff
We stayed here only 1 night but it was such a wonderful stay that I wish we stayed longer. The hotel has amazing garden that was breathtaking. My daughter and I had a beautiful walk in the morning before we left. The rooms were ok, could have been cleaner (especially the carpet) . The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were great quality. Breakfast was best we had in China during our 11 day trip.
It is very close to the city center, convenient for shopping, and the charges are reasonable. Only the hotel management and service attitude need to be improved, and the cleaning needs to be improved.

It was good that the contents of snacks, drinks and sweets in the lounge were quite substantial.
There were spring rolls and small dragon parcels, and hot snacks came out next. (Recommended rooms with lounge access)
The exterior and the interior of the hotel are nicely designed with a Chinese feel. Although it was a reasonable price, there was a sense of quality and cleanliness, the garden was wonderful, and I liked everything.
The second time stayed at a family attendant. I was so glad I chose this hotel because I liked it very much
And when I stayed here, I had the privilege of entering the Panmun Scenic Area behind the hotel for free, and I could come and go from the dedicated gate.

It is very big hotel. It is old but good enough to stay. You can visit great back yard of hotel. That is special point of this hotel.
The building is so great that you can swallow the nearby sightseeing spots.

Was once a beautiful hotel but looking shabby now. The grounds are very nice but the guest room badly needs an update with broken or badly worn furnishings
If you stay here, be sure to see the Panmen Scenic Spot ( ) which is adjacent to the hotel. A gate between the two allows free entrance if you show your room key/give room #. The scenic spot is closed during the evening, but it's still a nice walk around the outside perimeter. Other than that, the hotel is grand in an old style, probably from when the brits were being catered to and has very nice elegant touches. Breakfast buffet was very good (but some items were running out quickly with the # of guests that stay there). Main restaurant (which is where the breakfast buffet is) was very nice for dinner, just be aware that they won't have everything on their menu.
I can see that the hotel is a bit history, but the equipment is still very good. It can be said that the milfs are old and the charm still exists. The only moving line is too complicated, and the sign is not clear enough. It was dubbed by the friends as the Labyrinth Pan Pacific Hotel. Hotel guests can visit Panmen Scenic Area for free, which means that the backyard is a large park, and the window facing the Panmen room is green and very comfortable.
The traffic is very convenient, the service attitude is also good. A place that is very good.
Professional and friendly staff, exceptional breakfast selection (Chinese, American, and European spreads), comfortable and quiet room spaces, and adjacent to a traditional garden which is lovely for morning walks. All staff have training in English and every area of the hotel from the second floor bar to the lobby was beautiful and cozy.
A restaurant with a high CP value, a retro-style Chinese building, a good value for breakfast, and a room card to go to the Panmen area. Very good photo.

Stay in Guibinlou for 2 nights, the most impressive thing is the Panmen historical landscape

This is one of a very special design hotels that I have ever stayed in China. The property is by a river, uniquely designed on a very large landscape. I Guess this property was very grand many years ago but for now, it definitely needs major renovation. The furnishing, bathroom, carpets, old furnitures... other than that, it would be one of the best designed hotel in Suzhou. It has 3 restaurants; Japanese, Chinese and Lobby restaurant. Staff are friendly.
This hotel is remarkable. Nice, quite and got a beautiful huge garden with pagoda! Please make sure you visit the garden while you are here.

Very characteristic hotel seen from outside. Unfortunately, very old, the rooms be redone with headboard, carpet replaced (stained) were missing handles on cabinet doors .. u little 'disappointing for a 5 stars.
Pretend to be 5 star but in reality a 3 star. The building is outdated and a maze. Rooms are not well appointed. Not even a box of Kleenex and despite a limited minibar, not a snack in sight. 2 out of 3 treadmills in the gym not working . Outdated gym and equipment. I changed rooms 3 times: first room stunk of heavy tobacco smoke. Second room air conditioning not working (and its 30 celcius) and headboard leather all peeled off.
