Didn t hate the atmosphere, kinda cool. The burger was pretty good. Almost everything else was gross. The award winning pizza has zero sauce on a charred (burnt) thin cardboard like crust. The toppings including cheese were nearly all nonexistent. Turkey dressing Brussel sprouts all gross.

Awesome Brewery. Knowledgable, helpful, non-pretentious staff. Cheese buttons and Todd the Axeman. Had a great time sharing a brew and lunch with my Pa! Check out the Rhino sculpture and beer label art if you have time.

After touring the BC site about 100 times and hearing Omar, Keith and Brett deliver anecdotes about the brewery and the adventures of the coolest start up brewery around I decided to visit the MSP destination brewery. The $5 fee covered the tour, 4 samples, an elegant glass and a full pour of your choice from the bar. The rest went toward one of the SGAD functions. Rather than the previous folksy style the tour is now a rapid fire information dense talk about the brewing process and how different recipes yield different beer flavors. It was definitely a step in the right direction; I learned much and enjoyed the experience.

This was an amazing place to visit. Our tour guide, Colby, was awesome! Very nice, funny, and knowledgeable. The tour was well worth it for 6 dollars and this included a tasting glass, beer samples and a beer of your choice at the end. Plus a donation to charity. Great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Twin Cities!!

The brisket with brussel sprout side was to die for. And though you wait for a table, the food comes lightning fast.

Had a cranberry gose and pre prohibition lager. Both were very good, though perhaps not my favorite in either category. Still, I'd have happy filled a growler with either.

The facility is great, service good. Shouldn't visit the city without having that brisket. Cripes.

Excellent food, super selection of beer, and the tour was FANTASTIC. $5 for a tour where you get beer samples, a free pint, and get to keep the Surly branded tasting glass? AND they donate a portion to charity? Why is there ever space available on these tours? Insane. Shout out to our awesome guides Big John and his boss (sorry, forgot his name!)

Awesome brewery! Large variety of styles on tap - no matter your preferences you should be able to find something you like. An enjoyable $5 tour gets you three generous tasting pours plus a free beer ticket for the taproom - definitely worth it. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait about an hour before the next tour started. 20 person max and it did fill up, so get there reasonably early if you want to sign up. The food was very good as well.

Amazing food and atmosphere. I couldn't help but wonder about the possibility of renting out the space for a groom's dinner or wedding reception--the environment is ideal and the beer, of course, is delicious :)

Great beer, great location, good vibes.

Very very poor help and not our first time coming here.
Kitchen staff slammed plate on table because she was annoyed we took an extra second to figure out who ordered the appetizer.
Server acted annoyed the entire time, did not attend to requests without being asked 3 times, made multiple mistakes on bill.
Kid friendly? Why did everyone that worked there seem annoyed we brought our well behaved kid then?

Surly Brewing is always a good time. They have great beer, great food, and a great wait/service staff! They're both social drinker and kid friendly. I come home feelin like a champ after leaving, too. Is that the beer talking? Yes! But at least I ain't surly AFTER leaving!

Had a great time in the tasting room with my brother! Chill and fun atmosphere. The brussels sprouts appetizer was to die for! And absolutely hopping for a Thursday afternoon.
Only downside was they don't have a true flight to sample their beers. We got 3 8oz pours, but even that size was limited to a few of their standard beers. Would have liked to sample more of the creative beers.

One of the most remarkable brewery experiences that I've had in a while. The brews on tap are as expected: unique and all so delicious! The food offered pairs beautifully and are standalone excellent. Lively and busy, this is a fantastic spot to enjoy some good food and beer with your friends.

Wow, so I'm a huge fan of Surly's beer but this place was frustrating.

I went there with my bachelor party and we had a fairly poor experience. When we sat ourselves in the patio area and were quickly told to move because apparently it's hosted seating but we could seat ourselves in the lower area which is fine, after this we found a picnic table to sit at. We were almost settled when we were told once again we couldn't sit there because all patio seating is hosted seating, essentially the new place is a jumped up brewery turned restaurant that lacked clear signage indicating that in order to be seated you need to proceed to the host station.

Most taprooms I've been too have always been self seating therefore if you want people to proceed to the hosts station at a "taproom" I feel as though you need to make that clear.

If you bring a decent sized group you can expect long wait times, which is common with hosted seating, and because of other plans we had only a finite amount of time to spend at this location therefore we were forced to shuffle off to a small area outside and l was embarrassed that I had so desired to start my bachelor party here. I had been incredibly excited to go to the new taproom but my experience was poor and there are hard feelings. I still love your products but I will not be returning to the taproom.

Edited after a few months to let myself cool off.

The first thing you should realize about Surly is that this place is a destination. That means it is always crowded. I've been here a few times now and it never matters what day or time, it is always crowded. That said, this place can hold a large crowd. If you absolutely have to sit inside, the wait can be anywhere from 25 minutes to 45 minutes. We sat inside and ordered from menu. We shared the charcuterie board and roasted cauliflower. Both were very good. Of course everyone had some variety of Surly on tap. We then gave up our table and went outside.

If you are just here for beer, there are many areas (indoors, outdoors) to order from. There are picnic tables outside, several fire pits, several eating tables, and yard games. There are also a couple of food tents although I didn't look to see what they were offering. Basically there are many options for beer and snacks with no waiting. On the 2nd floor is the pizza place. It's another large indoor space just for pizza (and beer of course). The nice thing about the second level is the outdoor deck with a railing. You can order your pizza and then stand out at the railing while you wait for your pizza and drink beer. I also noticed an area for private parties. The outdoor space is dog-friendly.

Surly also has outdoor concerts in the summer. I've been to a few and it's a great experience due to being outside, smaller crowd and larger outdoor area to spread out. The concerts also have several food trucks. (Kumbaya-type crowd sing-alongs and typical cheeching)

The guy checking IDs was beyond rude. When I left feedback at the host stand, they made excuses and said it had been busy. Children were running around; it was not the brewery atmosphere we were looking for.

Good beer. Good beer prices. Hop friendly. Limited seating for food. Limited food selection and higher priced. Some bar tenders had no courtesy and very poor customer service. Decent for a one time tourist trip, or if you happen upon them at a slow time.

We loved the tour! Our tour guide, Ty, was fantastic! He made fermentation, hops and yeast interesting! We even got to smell the garbage (bag the hops came in)! Thank you for a great experience!

Unpopular opinion: I don't think Surly's beer is all that great, mostly because I feel like it's all super hoppy (not a fan of the style in general, though.) However, the food here is beyond excellent and the environment is super fun. Downstairs has been a go-to for years (get the burger and also the cornbread is amazing!) But the pizza place upstairs is a knockout. It's just incredible. Highly recommend the olive app, it comes in a citrus olive oil that is wonderful.

Not enough bartender upstairs. Slow service . Love their beers but I guess I'll drink them at other restaurants.

Edit: bumping up a star I appreciate Brian reaching out to me to discuss the experience. Sounds like the upstairs is kind of new and still working out some of the kinks.

Surly Field is becoming one of the best spots for live music in Minneapolis. Partnering with First Ave to book great national acts, Surly has started hosting a series of concerts every year. For concerts in the field, Surly brings in food trucks and of course Surly beer. Recent acts include Lord Huron, Tame Impala, and Gary Clark Jr.

Come for the beer. Leave because the food is horrendous.

Been here twice. If you like hipster food, then you may like it. If you like regular American type food I would highly reccomend somewhere else.

Good Brewery with an informative tour and awesome atmosphere. There is a giant and beautiful dog friendly patio. There is a large beer hall with lots of tables. There is a store to buy things with a good selection. There is delicious food and excellent friendly service. There is a great selection of solid beer options. It is kid friendly and family friendly. What is not to love?! If you're debating going just go. You won't regret it!

We have visited many times over the years. It s always been our favorite go to brewery for good food. Beer however has been lacking the past year or more. No real creativity in the choices. Probably biggest issue is the 10 oz pours. Come on man! If you re a beer hall, why short change any of us hop lovers with a 10 oz pour? And also charge approx $8 with tax and and service charge for it? No thanks! Sorry to see you close Surly, but you ve priced yourself out of the value proposition.

Great place! We did have our ASL tour at 7pm & they did an amazing job tour around the building. Did learn a lot of about this brewery. 100% recommended for eat & drink at this place! Parking lots might be over crowding so just come and be prepare to park far away from the building.

Went today for Father s Day and although it was very busy, it didn t feel crowded and the service was great. We had a bit of a wait for a table, but so worth it. Everyone loved their beers and their food. Even my son the picky eater loved his food and his cookie dessert! Can t wait to come back and try the pizza and take the tour.

Went here before a MN United game with my family, the atmosphere is amazing . Being able to see the brewery in the back gives you that authentic feel. The beers are delicious and the food is pretty good too! Made our game day experience 10 times better! If you go, ask for a bartender named Megatron! She was great at helping us figure out which beer we all wanted to try! I'm still in love with my Rising North Pale Ale though... GO LOONS!

Good beer, better pizza. Overall really solid line up of beer and large environment to enjoy it in. They have 2 floors, top for pizza and bottom for restaurant style ordering. Enjoyed the beer and loved the thin crust pizza that they served. Overall great stop with a fun environment.

Beautiful, spacious beer hall with a wonderful patio/outdoor space and HELLA GOOD beer and food! We love that they are kid-friendly and have an excellent food menu to keep everyone in the family happy. Very busy, especially after Vikings games and on the weekends, but if you have time, it's worth the wait.

Surly has amazing food, people forget that because it's a brewing company. I also believe there are no wrong choices when it comes to the menu. Surly also has one of the best patios in the cities and a massive indoor seating area to match. I've always loved the company and everything they try to achieve. I highly recommend giving it a try for yourself. They just recently started seating on the patio during Covid, stop in if you haven't.
