Great food. Awesome place to hang out. Our 4 year old had a great time walking around meeting other kids and playing in the gravel. Major win for parents!

I don't know if Surly classifies as a macro brewery now, but it's still awesome.
The main beer hall huge and plenty of beers are available. The fact you can't get a flight was disappointing but the beer was not. They have a deck upstairs and pizza place separate from the main hall. They had a good looking menu though I did not eat. Not too far from the Univ of Minnesota
Super fun atmosphere and delicious food. Great for the whole family, especially in the summer!
We took the brewery tour and it was awesome! Our guide, Forest, was extremely knowledgeable and kept the tour upbeat and moving along nicely. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Stopped at the brewery for a 3pm tour. Enjoyed a beer on the huge outdoor patio, very nice setup for having some food / drinks with friends. The tour was informative and enjoyable. Had a nice gift shop inside. All in all a pleasant way to spend a few afternoon hours on our trip. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
The Employee's are what make this a great experience. Cheers to the hardworking staff. Each one of you made our visit(s) memorable. Salute.
Delicious food, and a fun informative tour, with a beer sampling at the end.
My god - you've got to see this place to believe. The food is also amazing.
Great beer, good food, talk to your tablemates and have a great time.
Beautiful space, great , awesome energy inside and out. Skol!
Soup was good but to spicy, need it toned down a bit. Soup came with chips, would've rather had another substitute since already had with appetizer. Flank steak husband loved, tender, good flavor. Boar sausage good, roasted potatoes could be better with seasoning/herbs, was flavorless. Friendly service but switched wait staff halfway. Waited a little too long for help. Will go back.
Great spot, very busy. Could use more serving stations.
Stop #215 for @pizzas365: Surly Brewing Co. has a pretty decent pizza, but it could be improved even more. I expected New Haven style slices to be a bit more charred, and the toppings were good but not fantastic (particularly the potato which could have been cooked longer). 4.2 Stars.
Small selection for a big brewery. Only had a few extra beyond flagship beers on tap, despite a huge showing online. Disappointing. Update your website to reflect reality.
A prime example of popularity not equating to quality. First, the beer: although Minnesotans think Surly invented craft brewing, what's churned out here is pretty unremarkable fare produced to appeal to the tastes (?) of the masses (Really? Coffee-infused beer? Sparkling wine-inspired lager?? I'm sure there's an acai/pomegranate brew in the planning.); hence the two stars. Second, the restaurant: prepare to wait a looooong time for a seat (allowing you, of course, ample opportunity to purchase several rounds of the oh-so-cleverly-named selections from the bar), after which you'll be squeezed into the bench seating at a table you'll be sharing with strangers (come on, that's part of the ambiance!) and where you'll wait for your server to deign to notice you and finally share his wisdom regarding the "extensive" (two pages!) menu. What you're finally served is overpriced, uninspired stuff you could get at a typical fast casual dining establishment. Bottom line: it's not terrible, but it's surely not great. (And don't bother with the $6 tour -- you've undoubtedly seen hoses and tanks before and skipping this will allow you to avoid the self-absorbed commentary of your guide who really doesn't know much about the process of brewing beer but plays well the part of someone too cool to care.)
Very reasonable and Nice place for having drinks and clubbing. I went there for a friend s birthday and enjoyed a lot there. The crowd and ambiance was just mind blowing.
Absolutely love this place! Great drinks (lots of options!) They even hace some nice kombucha. Great food too! Usually bursting with energy and nice lively vibes when we visit. They had some nice coloring books to keep kids busy too and that s always a plus lol. I would rank this as a must visit in Minneapolis.
Took the tour, very interesting. If you are a craft beer fan it is an in depth view behind the curtain of an operation that has the wherewithal and desire to make a consistent high quality product. Impressive.
Wonderful place. Great food and service. Quite amazing facility.
Can never get enough of this place and their great beers!
This is simply an awesome experience. The beer is incredible, the food and BBQ equally incredible and the atmosphere unique and so very special. I love Surly! Todd the Axe Man I love you!
My review is strictly about the Surly Pizza Upstairs. We decided to try this for my wifes birthday after hearing many good things. It is very well laid out on how you order your pizza and beer. Staff is very helpful and good at what they do, runs like a well oiled machine! The most important part, the pizza is FANTASTIC! So much flavor and cooked perfectly. Similar to the popular Pizzeria Lola, but better in my opinion. Give it a try!
Great food. Great beer. Great service. Nothing else to say.
The beer and food are incredible here. The brewery just released it's Thanks Obama Winter Rye IPA on Inauguration Day, and it's awesome. I don't typically care for IPAs, but this one took me in immediately. The brisket here is cooked perfectly, and the Brussels sprouts are ridiculously good. The sauce on them makes them easily the best I've ever eaten. The sour red ale is also awesome, with a taste of red wine, cherries, and malts.
Well done, Minneapolis.
Best brewery tour ever. You learn so much about how Surly came to be, about the process and then of course tasting the product. It was so much fun. I would HIGHLY recommend it to others. Plus you get a free beer from the beer hall and a cute little sipping glass.
Its surly. Check it out. Get some food to go with your beer. You're welcome.
Obviously known for their great and varied beer, the food is just as much of a draw at this temple to beer culture. Everything on the menu is good. Really, the only complaint is that the secret is out, and pretty much every night is packed. It makes for a great atmosphere, but you'll probably have to wait for a table. So just grab a cold one and leisurely wander the grounds until you're called back in.
Fantastic Brewery! Huge space and just pleasing to the eye! Beer selection is excellent and delicious. The bar staff is friendly and attentive, lots of space to move around and be free! They even have a restaurant right upstairs if all you want is food. Enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the sun while enjoying a cold one! If you're visiting the Minneapolis area check this place out!
Went around 5:30 on a Saturday night. It looked crazy busy, but we were able to be seated within minutes. Husband wasn't a huge fan of the beer. This is very much a hipster bandwagon type place. People go for the atmosphere.
Stopped in for dinner tonight with a cousin who I haven't seen in a while just to catch up. Previously I'd only ever stopped in to Surly for an occasional event, never really staying long enough to get the full effect. Normally Surly is far enough away for me that I just wouldn't think about it, but it happened to be about half-way between my cousin and I so we figured we'd stop in.
She waited a little bit for a table as she had gotten there before me, but considering the fact that we came in for dinner it was to be expected. Once we got seated Charles came over to greet us right away, was immediately well presented and overall did a fantastic job. Well placed jokes, answered all of our questions, and didn't seem pressured at all, despite the full dinner crowd. I'll definitely be back.
Cheers and thanks for all the limes.

Minnesota is so fortunate to have this caliber of brewery that offers a vast selection of brilliant beer and great food! It s a full experience must see...great beer, good food, fun atmosphere both indoor and outdoor. We enjoy showing it off to out-of-town friends and family.
By far best brewery I have ever been to and btw the pizza is just an amazing surprise!!!
Beautiful space, great food and incredible beers. If you're a brewhead, make it a destination.
Pizza is excellent. Beer was good. Love the scarf I bought. Looks good!
They have an amazing beer selection with one of the world's best Russian Imperial on tap. The food is also extremely good.
The food: excellent (hog fritts and fried chicken jambalaya were both fantastic). Atmosphere: upbeat and engaging. And the people watching from the upper deck is great!
A Cool American Contemporary Restaurant..I like its warehouse style and location better than the food..great food presentation on some dishes (but not mine in the following picture..) I ordered BBQ pork and it was good except the raw onions came with the order
Wonderful beer and environment. Coming from SD I had a lot of expectations for this place based on reputation and they delivered.
Beer is excellent. The patio is a great summer hang out.
VERY crowded all the time. It was kind of expensive and I found pitchers of surly hell down the street for $12 instead of $26!!
Awesome, awesome, awesome, did I say awesome.. :) Incredible variety of onsite brewed beers, each one better than the previous. The food is excellent and the crowd lively. A must stop when in Minneapolis.
Had an excellent dinner at Surly Brewing last night! After our great waiter sold the menu to us, I went with his recommendation of the smoked half chicken (a five day process!) And the Brussels sprouts. It was delicious! The chicken was moist and smokey, and the sprouts had a wonderful Thai vinaigrette. I tried bites of my companions' food, and all theirs was great also! Plus, we all had fantastic beers, of course! Strong, hoppy IPAs and excellent coffee stouts. I can't wait to return and try something else on that great looking menu!
Great food! An abundance of in-house brews for beer drinkers! Great ambiance!
The beer is not bad. Surly is like the budweiser of mn craft breweries. But these days its hard to consider surly a craft beer. Since their huge expansion the beer quality has suffered. Sorry surly but its time for me to move on.
Awesome experience! Tour guide was great with explaining the science behind brewing and answered questions perfectly. Beer was great and had a great time!
Brewery tour is well worth the money, Very informative and fun. Food is very good and beer is amazing
Easily one of my favorite breweries. Tons of room great atmosphere, great pizza and beer.
The tour at Surly was fun and informative. Colby was a great guide. Definitely spend time in the brewpub before/after.
We were running late for our o'clock tour already thinking that we would not be able to get in, however we did right on time and was very happy with the tour and history of the brewery. Was amazed how high tech and streamline the processes are compared to other breweries. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and the beers were fantastic. Coffee Bender was excellent. The atmosphere was super fun and will enjoy coming back and visiting again.
Amazing new brewery for an amazing group of people. Love the gardens, tours are great and staff are friendly. Great spot to go with family, friends, coworkers or by yourself. Something always happening here. Food is good most of the time and beer is always cold and amazing.
Surly is one of the most well known breweries in Minneapolis. Close to the U of M campus and super easy to get to by bike. They have two large parking lots that actually fill up pretty fast, but you can typically always find a spot to park. The food on the lower level is bar level food, but their pizza on the top floor is to-die-for. They have a wide variety of beers including a gluten free option. The patio is the best for summer nights and weekend afternoons. They typically have a DJ going and bags to play for activity. Worth checking out!
Great place to have some drinks, eat some good food, toss some bags and play pinball. This place could earn a full 5 star if they did flights like every big or small brewery I've been to. Make sure to take advantage of the free samples since they don't offer flights. This was on my list of places to go while visiting MPLS for the 1st time.
The description is bad at the tip of this... These aren't "microsbrews," this is a full fledged industrial craft brewery, which represents the popularity and demand Surly has seen in their 10 the brewing scene. If you are remotely interested in beer, get here.
Good food. Infants are not allowed on the tour I guess.
Surly consistently makes great beer, and make a variety of beers which are interesting to try and don t disappoint. Their employees are top notch knowledgeable, welcoming and kind to customers, and the spirit of delivering a quality product while having fun. A winning success. We have been Surly customers for many, many years and look forward to continuing in the future.
Great beer and an amazing menu for a brewery! I love this place!
Great beer, awesome location. The only downside is that it's always super busy. Says good things about the product, but it's still a pain. Parking is terrible, and plan to wait at least an hour to get seated for food.
Service was a bit slow tonight. Unusual though. Usually top notch. Still love it.
If you like craft beer a good food, look no further!
Great beer selection. Tough to try them all as they don't offer flights but they are more than willing to give samples.
I can taste the furious just writing this review. Love the new site!
Would like to come here, but i am not wasting my time when you say WE HAVE GREAT FOOD to just not show us what that is exactly. Tavern grub? Im gunna need proof first
Great selection of beers. (They do not offer flights if that's what you're looking for). The food was also really good. I had the pierogies and they were very delicious. The service was efficient considering the size of the place.
Great beers and tasty food. Cask 3X dry hopped Furious is a treat on the tongue and the barrel aged Pentagram was a blue cheese sour cherry dream.
Went for the brewery tour, stayed for 4 hours. Left amazed by the quality and variety of beer, excellent food, and badass atmosphere.
Probably the best brewery in the country. There are so many great aspects to it. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable. We loved him. Your beer, resto, space, and operation are top notch!
Surly has nailed this COVID thing down. Super fast service in a safe way. Hope more places follow their lead.
This place is super hip and tonal of people were there enjoying. I had a night out with a great person and we went at 6:30 on a Thursday and it was packed. We got on the waiting list, stepped over to the side bar to get a beer while we waited. That was awesome. It didnt feel like it took very long for our table to be ready because we were having a good time. Nice staff and paid attention to us! So thanks all who work there.
The surly store was cool. Cute hats and shirts and even a sweet backpack. I'd buy more than 1 item. Guys, check out this place! It's bomb.
Is this the same surly that makes the bikes? Where can i find their retailer for that
Surly does it right! Loved coming here for my 21st birthday and will definitely be back soon!! Can t wait to try the pizza as well!
Loved this place -- beer was awesome -- but the Brisket was INCREDIBLE. The brussel sprouts were great too -- definitely going back.
I have been going Surly's for years and bringing large party's there from Corp. Tonight was horrible. My waitress was just mean and ignored us, a table of 10 with a expense account. This red headed witch was just mean and glaring at us as she ignored our table
.
I finally talked to the manger and got some some service but I was upset because this place is the best place in town.
I will never let her serve us again!!! 07/31/2019
Tasty food. Got a burger which comes with fries. Little bit loud and noisy.
We love visiting when we are in Minneapolis. Tasty food and great beer!
Really good beer. Probably the best patio/outdoor brewery space in MN. Food in the main food hall is good but slightly overpriced on my opinion. Great place to meet friends.
Food is good but overpriced. Ordering is all done online, so no opportunity to ask a server questions or get recommendations. Patio dining is great for social distancing.
