This place is awesome! This is a fun place to meet friends and make new ones. The beer is the best in Minneapolis. The staff is very friendly and helpful. These people make beer because they love beer not because they love money.

They have four star food (with a few exceptions) and 5 star beer. The place has a great atmosphere and they do a simple but effective job. I have to admit though, the service is usually pretty relaxed, but I can t really blame them as it is always busy there. A cool spot to see if you re visiting MPLS as well.

Surly Brewery is a shining example of a destination brewery. They have a good selection of beers and food. They have a large and open feeling facility with multiple seating options, including outdoors. Surly is what all the other brewery taprooms want to be when they grow up.

The only reason I'm knocking a star off is because to me the price is premium price for the food / beer. However, the food and beer are good. Maybe it's because of area? Worth to check out once. Staff was pretty nice. The hostess didn't seem like she cared.

I was there with a friend tonight and it was packed but we still found space to hangout. The outside beer garden is amazing. The downstairs bar is great for food. The upstairs bar is a different environment and feel. Highly recommend.

I'll always respect Surly for what they've done for the Minnesota craft breweries. They have great tap room with an amazing outdoor area, however I'm just not a fan of their beer. There's much better beer in the twin cities in MY opinion.

Also, I've never tasted it, but from what I saw the food there look delicious!

I took my managers on a tour here for a fun team building experience. My team of ten is in the food business and were very impressed which is difficult to do. We had a GREAT TOUR GUIDE (sorry I don't recall his name).

Have always loved going to Surly, we love their beer, we love the outdoor area, and we love that they are dog friendly. However, after this weekend 26 of my closest friends and I were left with a bad taste in our mouths. Wanting to celebrate two of our friends 30th birthday parties we rented a party bus. Second stop into the night, upon arrival the bouncer came over to our bus and as people came off our bus he targeted at least 5 of our friends saying they were not allowed into the brewery. They "looked like bad news or were drunk." Only one was warranted, in-fact two of our friends who "were not allowed" were PREGNANT, were stone cold sober and one was holding a LaCroix water! You not only lost out on business that night, you lost out on business moving forward! To target people in the manner of "you're fine" "you're a no go" is rude, when not warranted!!

The tour was phenomenal, and all the information in it was really interesting. The tour guide kept our attention and answered all the questions we had. Also tasted some new beer. The food here is also very good, a little on the expensive side but worth it. I had the brisket and my boyfriend had the burger, delicious!!! I highly recommend making a trip here!

We showed up for a tour and unfortunately there was a power outage due to road construction. Surly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and eventually when the power came on an hour later they squeezed us into another tour. Great people and solid beers!

Great brewery in the cities to visit! The place is quite large with a sizeable outdoor patio that is dog friendly! If you enjoy Surly beer then you definitely need to visit. Very wide selection on tap and several places throughout to grab a brew. The food was also excellent! Pizza upstairs and a separate menu on the main level. Make sure to plan ahead, even though the place is large they get quite busy!

Great staff, fun food, wide selection of beer. The tour is wonderful (and free!). Tough to "hang out" without a table in the winter since space is limited, so pick your time of day wisely, especially if you have a big group. Summertime is much more preferred specifically for this brewery's dynamics.

Well designed and decorated. Friendly staff with even better beer. Haven't tried the food but looks good.

Suggest going there when the weather is nice to take advantage of its beautiful outdoors area. It had a few sets of bean bags for customers to enjoy last time that I visited.

Todd the Axe Man is one of the best if not the best beer made in MN. The brewery itself is overcrowded and expensive. It's worth a trip for the spectacle, but not a place I find myself wanting to return to.

I'm a little bummed writing this review, because I've always been a big fan of Surly beer. My fiancee and I finally decided to try out the brewery and get dinner there. The bar area we sat at was nice, and the service was very accommodating. However the food was underwhelming for the price. I'm a huge fan of fried chicken sandwiches so I got the Kentucky hot sandwich along with a pretzel to share. The pretzel was a little too hard on the outside and wouldn't have been worth finishing if not for the tasty dipping cheese. The sandwich was a big letdown. It's flavor profile was heavy on the black pepper which washed out any ability to taste the chicken or aioli. The fries were fine but nothing special. As for the beer, the taste was fine, but the prices blew me away, 6-7 bucks for 10 oz glasses, many of which didn't have pint options despite not being high in ABV. I could have gotten a pint of their flagship beers for cheaper or the same amount at a different bar.

All in all, this is definitely a brewery where you pay a premium for the atmosphere.

Worst brewery experience ever. They refused to serve one person in our group that had drank 3 beverages in one day and made a complete scene and demoralized her in front of everyone and were the worst professional people I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Maybe if they hired people who didn't have neck tattoes they could perform their jobs properly

I scheduled a tour expecting to learn a little bit about the brewery. We ended up being the only two people so it was a very intimate tour. Ty was absolutely amazing. He told us about the brewery, the brewing process, the history of beer in Minnesota, hops and all kinds of fun tidbits. I smiled and laughed and got any questions I had answered. Ty was so cool I wanted to take him home too! I would suggest anyone with any interest in beer take this tour. Five stars is not high enough!

Went on a Sunday evening for a casual dinner and a beer...place was crowded and noisy to say the least.....60 min wait for a table for 4.....although there were dozens of empty tables?.....asked a waiter about this....he said they were waiting for people with reservations.....although on Sunday evening they don't take reservations???.....lots of exhausted parents with kids in strollers crying (probably hungry and waiting for a table)......most patrons at tables had no food and were starting to look desperate.....the four of us had had a beer standing in the crowd and left.....Ufta!!!!!.....makes Disneyland look like a sane and calm place

Amazing brewery, delicious food and great people. Need I say more? Came here for the first time and had a blast. It's a huge facility with two floors, outdoor heated patio, bean bags, fire pits, outdoor bar stand... Everything you could want and more. Highly recommend coming here, pets and children are welcomed and invited to come, large outdoor area to play and enjoy. Will be back again soon!

Loved the atmosphere and beer. The only reason it isn't a five star review was due to the pizza place upstairs serving us burnt pizza. The tour is fun and interesting, the staff are fantastic, the gift store is neat, and the outdoor seating is spectacular.

What happened to the burger!!!??? As soon as I heard Surly was closing, I purposefully made multiple reservations so I could enjoy the best burger and the most delicious pizza in town. I was utterly shocked when they delivered me my cheeseburger. It was NOTHING even remotely similar to what I ve been enjoying for years. It was at best, something I could have made at home. What a huge disappointment to depart from Surly on such bad terms, I am sad

Surly is great for an interesting and fun time. I have come here on dates or just to hang out with a group of friends and the social atmosphere is great. They have quite the variety of beers that are on the spectrum of flavor, even for the non-beer types. The actual dinner area has a delicious, yet somewhat pricy, food menu! They have great pairings that go in combo with their beer, ranging rom charcuterie boards to sandwiches.

Yesterday was my second visit to Surly. I live out of state so it's a lot of fun different breweries. On my first visit I was amazed at how large, open, and clean the venue was. After my second visit I still have the same opinion. Lots of space, indoor seating, outdoor seating, bar seating and games outside. We didn't try any of the food but it smelled amazing in there. When we sat down at the bar the bartender said let me get that for you as he proceeded to wipe down the bar even though it looked clean. Love attention to small details. Chris or Christopher was his name I believe. I've been to many bars and tap rooms where I've had to wipe down my own area. The bathrooms were also clean, and the gentleman working the merchandise room was really cool also. I cannot find anything to complain about, I must go back!
