A truly amazing place to see. Birth place of some true musical legends.
Phenomenal tour. Very genuine, intimate, and interactive experience. I love all of the histor and nostalgia, but I must say, the tour guide/musician was extremely personable, outgoing, clever, and down to Earth. She made it among the most pleasant tours of my life with her positive vibes, cool demeanor, hip garments, and clever wits. Bravo Sun Studio! Thanks for the unforgettable New Year Memphis! Make it a necessity in planning your Memphis vacation without a doubt
Stood where the Million Dollar Quartet once stood. @ElvisPresley @JohnnyCash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins. December 4, 1956. Learned so much while there. Loving #Memphis
This was definitely a nice experience, being were Elvis first recorded a song (and hear this recording) is great, I mean it has an amazing vibe. The tour is pretty short (but it s also pretty cheap, so...). Our guide was fantastic, you can tell that she really likes doing it and enjoys music. Definitely an experience that, if you are in Memphis and like music (which is the most likely scenario) you must have.
Great visit and very good narrator. To make absolutely so that this place lives still very very long
Interesting
... have made the Sun Studio Tour this and 5 years ago ... that time Elvis was the main topic .. the last time was Johnny Cash in focus which was positive for us since we had 2 different perspectives ...
A lot of interesting facts ... lively and entertaining brought over by a sympathetic guide .....
Highly recommended and not overpriced
Get there early, get your tickets and take the tour. The tour guides are natural story tellers. At least the one we had was.
I'll try not to spoil the ending, but they discovered some famous people.
We passed on this when we were in Memphis last year, because the building was small and I figured how could the tour be worth it. We've seen Million Dollar Quartet so what else would there be. It was highly recommended by some people we meet at dinner, who recognized we were from out of town. It was a great tour where the guide (sorry, I forgot his name) enthusiastically led us through the history of Sam Phillip and Sun Studio. Worth the price of tour and as the women we meet at dinner, I highly recommend it while visiting Memphis. For the fan of this era/genre of music or the artist it made famous, I would assume you would like it even more than I.
Great historical visit. Where Rocknroll got it's big start. "Rock n Roll is here to stay "
It was amazing! I can believe I was standing in the same building as legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis. Our tour guide was nice. 10/10.
Great tour whose history brilliantly told by our guide Lahna.
The place where Elvis recorded his first song (and many more)! This is a must see when in Memphis, TN, since it's a huge piece of music history! It's a small place, but the girl that did the tour was funny and amazing!
The experience was one of a kind! Graham is an amazing tour guide. Not only knowlegable, but extremely excited about sharing it with his groups. The uplifting highlight of our many stops in Memphis
The workers were rude and dismissive. I do not recommend going on a field trip here. I never got email confirmations and they barely answer the phone.
Very neat to see the birth place of so much music history...
The tour guide was funny, witty, and adorable. She made the tour interesting and worth while. Oh, and history of rock and roll and stuff. ;)
Great place to visit lot of music history unbelievable
The best music tour in Memphis
No audio guide, no pads. One knowledgeable, passionate person leading you through a history of Memphis music and Sun Records, giving a shared experience to all participants, not leaving us as single people experiencing only in our heads. Heads up, the most recommended tour in Memphis. Better than Graceland, better than museum of rock & soul, sadly, much as I loved it. Sun Studios the best!
So much history. Loved the staff and hownl they are sang along and just had a great atomsphere
Brilliant tour could feel the passion from our tour guide loved it
I have been to Sun Studio 3 times over the years, and with each visit I have taken the guided tour, with each tour being different from the last- the tour guides are all absolutely fantastic and you can tell that they have a genuine interest in the history of Sun, rather than just learning a script and repeating the same things over and over. They re all super knowledgeable and were able to answer questions from the group without hesitation - the level of information they supply on the tour is outstanding.
Sun Studios is an absolute must visit for any music lover - it s so humbling to know that such a huge number of influential musicians have worked there, and that it s still a working recording studio to this day. If you re ever in Memphis make sure you pay a visit!
The tour was really good but the shuttle is extremely poorly scheduled that makes you spend a much more extended time in their tiny coffee shop.
Very interesting and exciting because the studio is original and still working today. Great tour guides!
It's a small tour but a big experience. Thanks for being patient with us tourists that kept taking more photo's after the tour was over. Your delivery of the presentation really made a difference! :)
If you know anything about music you have heard of Sun records and its simply amazing to visit and see artists still recording at this legendary Studio. The Million Dollar Quartet was a night where the stars aligned and im a big fan so this visit was a must.
Small place but has changed the world. You can feel the history there.
There is a presence in this place. I've been twice and it is a 'must have' experience if you go to Memphis!
Real quick trip on city tour. Looked like fun and will go back when we have more time. Sounds like a nice tour and the the shakes looked delicious.
It's small but I think this is mostly about being there and learning the history and the experience provided by the tour guide most of all. It's entertaining and informative for someone who knows absolutely nothing about this area
Best tour around, knowledgeable staff! We stop in each time we're in Memphis! Been on the tour 2x but stop in just to pick up memorabilia.
Great music. Great history. Great swag. Make sure to take the guided tour.
A must-do if you have any interest in music history. A short but informative tour, standing in the studio listening to the recordings made there was something else.
Loved this place. The tour guide was knowledgeable & enthusiastic, bringing the unique story of this venerable musical mecca to life. A great holiday memory that will live with me forever.
Graham is a wonderful tour guide. Truly passionate and informative. I got chills listening to the amazing stories from this tine place and how it truly is the birthplace of rock and roll!! My advice- call ahead and ask when Graham is giving the next tour. He deserves a raise for sure. We did Graceland, too and I was disappointed. But I was pleasantly surprised by this experience. Dont think, just go.
So much history in this building! Thoroughly enjoyed!
Although there is no written anywhere, the studio can only be visited with a guided tour (we did that at 17:30 and arrived at 4:35 pm so we waited 40 minutes). I do not know how long the tours are. $ 14.00 per person for 45 minutes of tour that takes place in only 3 rooms. I gave three stars because we saw the study otherwise it was a visa that there is hardly anything to see and he just talks.
Simply AMAZING!!! The Staff/Tour Guides TRULY LOVE their jobs and it was the BEST Guided Tour/History Lesson I ever had!!!
Fabulous tour! Don't miss out on this one!
Just remember the name Cornelius!
Amazing experience. Good guides. This is a simple tour, it's more about the hallowed ground than lots of objects or exhibits.
Place to take pictures in small store tourist stop. Pay tour to see more.
Cool place to visit. We didn t do the tour this time, but got some really cool pictures!
Best thing about my Memphis visit. Tiffany Harmon was the tour guide and made the experience an upbeat, incredibly fun and knowledgeable experience. She also sings beautify if you ask her at the end of tour. The birth place of Rock N Roll. A must see addition to any bucket list.
This was our first tour at Sun Studio. Graham, our Guide, was amazing. He made the tour come alive in large part because his passion for music and it's history. I would take this tour again , but only if Graham would lead the tour!
The reason for my low rating of what should be a 5* attraction is, we got the sun studio bus from the rock & soul museum (which was great) now the pick up time is 30 mins past the hour so 2:30pm 3:30pm and so on but the tour at sun studio is hourly and they start at 30 mins past the hour! So we missed the first 10 minutes of it! Now i'm not the smartest guy out there but surley they should stagger the pick up times so you get to see all of it! and we missed the bus back after the tour as we wanted to look around their shop and take a few photos. The tour it's self was great but i'd advise making your own way
This was a great place to see. The tour is well worth it. So much music history in a small place.
What a beautiful place to be. The tour is DEFINITELY worth taking, and it's only about 30 min. Informative walk back in time. To be in the same room that the man in black and the king of rock and roll themselves recorded in makes you feel goosebumps so big your leg hair grows. 100% loved this. Cafe is nice too, sit where Elvis signed his first 3 yr contract with Sam Phillips at Sun Records while you sip a good cup of Joe.
Great tour of an iconic location, tour guides were awesome! Really cool to get your picture with the microphone Elvis used. Tour this location before heading to Graceland. Still an active recording studio.
A must visit in Memphis. Actually, even if you are not in Memphis, you must visit it.
The tour was interesting and a lot of fun. I appreciated that the guide was entertaining and not just going through the motions. Worth the time and entry fee if you like music history.
Historical recording studio. "The place where Rock n Roll was born". Original studio where they first recorded Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash. Tours depart every half hour with small groups. First you see original instruments of artists, posters and recording machines of the time. Then it goes to the recording studio itself, the best of the tour. One of the guides is the owner of the place, so he is very knowledgeable and knows the place in depth. I adored this place, simple, classic and full of history
What a place with a great history very friendly atmosphere
What's not to love? This building is the cradle of the birth of rock and roll. And it's way more than just Elvis, although he's the king of the tour. So much is still original, so you will encounter the studio exactly the way artists such a Elvis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, and many others did and still do. This is a major landmark in music history. Don't miss it.
A great tour and story of american music history. Well informed tour guide and a gift shop that is not overdone. Take the kids and they will talk to you for the rest of the day...
Out of all the places I visited today I liked this one the best. The tour was simple and direct. The tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and did an excellent job the giving context to important information. The overall atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff was very helpful and courteous. This tour may be short but it is definitely worth it.
It's Great place to see and be at. The guide was the best thing about it. Great job
Incredible history. Tour is small but still well worth it.
