This is a jewel a little farther down the beaten path. If you don't want to wait and are looking for good food, I highly recommend this place. Excellent for a large family dinner.

We live far from here but coming to this place is part of the trip. All their meals are great. I get something different every year we visit. I have 6 words to describe my favorite item though. Crab dip, crab dip, crab dip...
Sullivan's is the best !!!! I can truly see how they have been servings the Charleston area for thirty years. Proposed to my wife there, go back every memorial day weekend to celebrate!!!
Sullivan's Restaurant is absolutely delicious! Always good!
My husband and I were staying on Isle of Palms for business, and we were looking for a place to eat. I found this restaurant on the internet, and decided to try it. They open at 5pm, and we arrived at 5:40. There were only about six people in the restaurant which kind of makes you nervous about eating there. At 6:01 the place was packed with retired aged local people. We loved seeing them laugh and talk with their friends. The locals made the atmosphere so lively. The food and service were excellent. Although we could have gone to many other places, we decided to go back and enjoy the food again the next night. I highly recommend this place.
The food was great quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our seafood. The restaurant was packed, I would suggest calling ahead for a table. We will definitely be back next summer!
Yummy. Love the laid back atmosphere, food and service. Nice space inside for big groups.
Flat out !awesome! food and great service.
Servers help each other out even though our server Ivan was was extremely attendant to all needs. The Seafood Casserole was fresh tasting and maybe the best dish I had on my week vacation to the Charleston area. Even the sides we had were super too.
Great food and great service at a reasonable price.
Really great local restaurant. Had the crab stuffed flounder and it was fantastic!!
This restaraunt has great decor, comfortable seating, friendly staff, and prices were reasonable for the location.
Food was decent, but I was very disappointed with the shrimp and grits I ordered. It was tasteless, frozen shrimp over instant grits, this is a 10 dollar plate, but I would have gladly paid 3 or 4 dollars more for fresh shrimp and real grits. My wife ordered fresh fruit (advertised as "fresh") with her plate and received what was obviously a Dole can special. The green beans, gravy, and country fried steak were also very obviously processed and tasteless.
The fried okra however, was awesome, and the staff had great customer service.
I wish I could give this place a better rating, and I would be willing to pay a few more bucks for fresh food.
Good food. Very accommodating with a large group. A bit on the expensive side. The 7 layer seafood pasta was fantastic.
The deviled crab was delicious and our server Kerry was very pleasant and made dining a nice experience. The house made tar tar sauce was very yummy and totally recommend with any of the food!
Good food. Quick service.
Sad to read that they are closing (Sept 2020). I have enjoyed eating here for many years when in the area. Thanks for the good fried platters and memories!
Can't go wrong...brunch, lunch and dinner always good with friendly service.
Awesome!!! Food was great and prices were reasonable. Staff was very friendly.
Great soup! Shrimp and grits were excellent! Must go! Also, service was outstanding
Service was good. Staff was friendly. Worst squash casserole I've ever had. The crab stuffed mushrooms were mainly just cheese.
I have to say that the service was wonderful and the people were extremely friendly. However, the food was just OK at best. We had the raw oysters which were good. But the grouper, crab cakes and scallops were not good at all. We love scallops, but we didn't want to finish them. For food, if give this place 2 stars, but again, the people were great so I give them 3.
I understand why people would come here, but for good food is not one of them.
Great dinner, great service and great prices! Enjoyed the casual dining and wonderful seafood.
Freakin' delicious and the food was served quickly and correctly. Highly recommend this little spot!
An absolute MUST when coming to the area! Never disappointed- DELICIOUS every time!
We tripped across this restaurant on an outing. What a great find!! Delicious well seasoned food. We both had combos with fried oysters, broiled flounder, french fries, and creamy grits. The collard greens were the best I've had at a restaurant. Chelsi was a very good waitress. She was patient with my questions and made wonderful suggestions. The key lime pie was a tasty end to a good meal. We will definitely be back on our next visit.
Very good food, friendly welcome, friendly and efficient French waitress.
If you are with in a hour of this place you should go.
The good was great. Service was awesome. The owner just said that they celebrated 30 years . A very nice family owned restaurant. Will definitely be back when I am in this state again.
Not the place to go If you want some good seafood for lunch! Looked at the menu before we went there and chose this restaurant based on what they had and the reviews! The did NOT have seafood when we got there but Poeboys that was nothing more that a few fried shrimp on a hamburger bun with NOTHING but lettuce and tomato! Will not be going back to this place again!
Delicious fresh seafood and unique dishes! Down home and friendly with large portions.
Sullivan's was the first place we ate upon arriving at our new home in Mount Pleasant. What a great way to be welcomed. Food and service was excellent. Owners were knowledgeable and helpful in recommending sites and dinner selections. Whether new or "seasoned", a "must go to" on Sullivan's Island.
Excellent seafood and great outside eating! Love the t-shirts!
Found another great place to eat. Food was great and the service matched. Plenty of food for the money with excellent flavor.
Yes. This Place
Is good and I wish I could eat here weekly. I d go broke driving the 400 mile round trip. So. Maybe end up here 3 times a year.
Enjoy the diverse Coastal menu ! Wait staff is great, enjoy your time here! Good food , laid back vibe for a good time .
The stuffed crab is to die for! The crab dip is really good as well. Really, there is nothing bad on the menu and the specials are always on point!
My son and I had an outstanding meal!! Delicious food from appetizer to entree to sides! Very generous portions and very reasonable prices! I highly recommend!!!!
Crowded but quick and friendly service. The food was awesome!!!!
We took our family out to this unassuming seafood stop. I'm aware of their good reputation. Nice selection of seafood however mostly deep fried. Would suggest more healthy options. The delightful staff worked very hard leaving holes in the service given. Decor was simple and somewhat rugged. Will visit again if the family requests.
Great seafood. Fast service AND AN AWESOME MAI TAI!!!
Best meal we had during our visit to Charleston. Friendly staff, awesome food and a wonderful atmosphere. At lot of bang for your buck here! Highly recommend this hidden jewel & plan to return soon!
Great food, great service! A real local feel! Been here many times, always, always great!
This is a very good restaurant. I love scallops, so had grilled scallops. They were amazing. Highly recommend.
Very busy place, standing room only, but food was delicious
Food was good but not outstanding_ waiter provided excellent service and meals were reasonably priced
I've been going to this restaurant almost every summer for twenty years and I've never been disappointed. The shrimp, flounder and crab are awesome. And for dessert I highly recommend the key lime pie. The service is always good as well. The wait can sometimes be a while but I assure you it's worth the wait.
Overpriced for the food, waitress was slow and it was not busy. Won't be back
We called ahead to reserve a spot for our large family they seated us right away. Our server was great and friendly. Food was good we will be back.
This has been here as long as I can remember - one of the first places to open on the islands (we used to have to trek into Charleston to get a decent meal) Had a wonderful dinner with raw oysters, grouper and scallops. Service was extremely friendly and efficient - and thought a good value for the food (to those who say overpriced - you must not have checked out any other restaurants on the island). A little noisy (sat in a booth), and very casual (think fish shack). Had fried okra (good), green beans (not so good). Doesn't have beer on tap, but you can get four varieties of the local Palmetto beer. Used to not take reservations - but now it does! Ask for one of the tables outside if you want it a little quieter and it's a nice night.
Heard wonderful things about Sullivan's and would like to have had the opportunity to attend for lunch this Thursday. However, they were closed for lunch even though their ad stated lunch on Thursday from 11:00 - 2:00. Suggest you call before you go to verify their hours of operation.
Excellent taste of food. Super efficient staff. Food was out less than 20 mins of ordering. Perfect portion for the price. The grouper O'Sullivan was amazing!
Food is ok. Everything was just kinda plain - fried flounder and seafood casserole were blah. The flounder didn't have much flavor (even in the breading) so I used cocktail sauce. The sides were yummy - green beans, butter beans, and fried okra! Also really enjoyed the Bacon cheese fries. Food is priced ok and portions are fair.
I ordered the broiled seafood trio (shrimp, scallops, and a fish fillet). It came out with little to no seasoning and I am confident the seafood was previously frozen. I would expect to have fresh local choices from a restaurant steps from the beach.
We're local and love the place. There are a lot of long term employees and the owners try their best to please their customers. Try calling ahead to cut down on wait time. Expect to find a crowd on Sunday after church and grab a Bloody Mary or Mimosa while you're waiting. We eat there at least 2 or 3 times a month, and remember when it was previously"Mama's Tea Room". The quality of food has improved tremendously with the current chef and owners. It is the best value on the island- the specials are often "downtown"quality. You can get everything from seafood to "home style" cooking. We enjoy upscale restaurants and gourmet foods at times, but Sullivan's is consistently good and costs a lot less.
Family of 5. Enjoyed the food. We had 7 layer seafood pasta, fried shrimp, and shrimp salad. Excellent food and service. Best meal we had in Charleston this weekend.
Went here for the first time after our other plans fell through. I thought it was great food and atmosphere. If we are in Charleston again in the future, we will check it out again for sure.
Best place I have ate in Charleston!!!! Great service and food!!!
Batter on calamari was way too heavy, couldn't really taste the meat. Prices not bad though
Wonderful, family environment. Great service and fantastic food! Will definitely be back for more!
Love this place. Great food and people. First time I've ever had mahi mahi. So good.
Awesome place, our food and waitress was amazing. We can't wait to go back!
Disappointing. Would really like my money back and a do-over of the Friday night vacation meal. Shrimp in shrimp and grits were tiny and chewy. Grit cake was so dry it needed extra sauce. Boiled seafood meal was bleh. Shrimp were sandy, crab legs were below avg. Not sure it was actual drawn butter - so salty and garlicky that I think it was processed. Tourist trap food. Not for discriminating diners.
Fantastic brunch! Creamy shrimp and grits, delicious French toast served with grits that I didn't have to "fix up". Yummy!
The food is terrific and the location is great.
We spent the day on the island, and had lunch here.nice people and great service. Loved the onion rings!
We love this restaurant and have never been disappointed, we visit regularly. Thanks for the great food and service.
Fantastic crab legs. Great service. Couldn't be more pleased with the experience given
Coconut Joes. Average. Jambalaya green in color and tepid.
We had an extraordinary time in this place. We enjoyed the awesome ambience and the meals. The staff are very friendly. I m glad we eventually decided to visit this restaurant.
Lived near here all of my life and first time eating here. What a hidden Gem. Food and service were amazing. Definitely coming back.
Great lowcountry experience with better service, say hey to Miss Donna!
If you would let me id give a 10,stuffed flonder to die for, fantastic setvice
great lunch, never been for dinner so i cant comment on that. everything is
Had the fried flounder sandwich and creamy grits. So yummy!
Such a great experience! Great food and great price! The staff was super sweet and quick service! Highly recommend!!
Excellent and simple restaurant. The seafood combo was excellent and was the pick 3 seafood option. Highly recommend this place
Awesome family seafood spot. Been going for years. A bit busy during tourist season but we always get a spot pretty easy. Dont eat outside in summer....skeeters will carry u away.
