We live far from here but coming to this place is part of the trip. All their meals are great. I get something different every year we visit. I have 6 words to describe my favorite item though. Crab dip, crab dip, crab dip...

Sullivan's is the best !!!! I can truly see how they have been servings the Charleston area for thirty years. Proposed to my wife there, go back every memorial day weekend to celebrate!!!

My husband and I were staying on Isle of Palms for business, and we were looking for a place to eat. I found this restaurant on the internet, and decided to try it. They open at 5pm, and we arrived at 5:40. There were only about six people in the restaurant which kind of makes you nervous about eating there. At 6:01 the place was packed with retired aged local people. We loved seeing them laugh and talk with their friends. The locals made the atmosphere so lively. The food and service were excellent. Although we could have gone to many other places, we decided to go back and enjoy the food again the next night. I highly recommend this place.

Servers help each other out even though our server Ivan was was extremely attendant to all needs. The Seafood Casserole was fresh tasting and maybe the best dish I had on my week vacation to the Charleston area. Even the sides we had were super too.

This restaraunt has great decor, comfortable seating, friendly staff, and prices were reasonable for the location.
Food was decent, but I was very disappointed with the shrimp and grits I ordered. It was tasteless, frozen shrimp over instant grits, this is a 10 dollar plate, but I would have gladly paid 3 or 4 dollars more for fresh shrimp and real grits. My wife ordered fresh fruit (advertised as "fresh") with her plate and received what was obviously a Dole can special. The green beans, gravy, and country fried steak were also very obviously processed and tasteless.
The fried okra however, was awesome, and the staff had great customer service.
I wish I could give this place a better rating, and I would be willing to pay a few more bucks for fresh food.

The deviled crab was delicious and our server Kerry was very pleasant and made dining a nice experience. The house made tar tar sauce was very yummy and totally recommend with any of the food!

Sad to read that they are closing (Sept 2020). I have enjoyed eating here for many years when in the area. Thanks for the good fried platters and memories!

I have to say that the service was wonderful and the people were extremely friendly. However, the food was just OK at best. We had the raw oysters which were good. But the grouper, crab cakes and scallops were not good at all. We love scallops, but we didn't want to finish them. For food, if give this place 2 stars, but again, the people were great so I give them 3.

I understand why people would come here, but for good food is not one of them.

We tripped across this restaurant on an outing. What a great find!! Delicious well seasoned food. We both had combos with fried oysters, broiled flounder, french fries, and creamy grits. The collard greens were the best I've had at a restaurant. Chelsi was a very good waitress. She was patient with my questions and made wonderful suggestions. The key lime pie was a tasty end to a good meal. We will definitely be back on our next visit.

The good was great. Service was awesome. The owner just said that they celebrated 30 years . A very nice family owned restaurant. Will definitely be back when I am in this state again.

Not the place to go If you want some good seafood for lunch! Looked at the menu before we went there and chose this restaurant based on what they had and the reviews! The did NOT have seafood when we got there but Poeboys that was nothing more that a few fried shrimp on a hamburger bun with NOTHING but lettuce and tomato! Will not be going back to this place again!

Sullivan's was the first place we ate upon arriving at our new home in Mount Pleasant. What a great way to be welcomed. Food and service was excellent. Owners were knowledgeable and helpful in recommending sites and dinner selections. Whether new or "seasoned", a "must go to" on Sullivan's Island.

Is good and I wish I could eat here weekly. I d go broke driving the 400 mile round trip. So. Maybe end up here 3 times a year.

We took our family out to this unassuming seafood stop. I'm aware of their good reputation. Nice selection of seafood however mostly deep fried. Would suggest more healthy options. The delightful staff worked very hard leaving holes in the service given. Decor was simple and somewhat rugged. Will visit again if the family requests.

I've been going to this restaurant almost every summer for twenty years and I've never been disappointed. The shrimp, flounder and crab are awesome. And for dessert I highly recommend the key lime pie. The service is always good as well. The wait can sometimes be a while but I assure you it's worth the wait.

This has been here as long as I can remember - one of the first places to open on the islands (we used to have to trek into Charleston to get a decent meal) Had a wonderful dinner with raw oysters, grouper and scallops. Service was extremely friendly and efficient - and thought a good value for the food (to those who say overpriced - you must not have checked out any other restaurants on the island). A little noisy (sat in a booth), and very casual (think fish shack). Had fried okra (good), green beans (not so good). Doesn't have beer on tap, but you can get four varieties of the local Palmetto beer. Used to not take reservations - but now it does! Ask for one of the tables outside if you want it a little quieter and it's a nice night.

Heard wonderful things about Sullivan's and would like to have had the opportunity to attend for lunch this Thursday. However, they were closed for lunch even though their ad stated lunch on Thursday from 11:00 - 2:00. Suggest you call before you go to verify their hours of operation.

Food is ok. Everything was just kinda plain - fried flounder and seafood casserole were blah. The flounder didn't have much flavor (even in the breading) so I used cocktail sauce. The sides were yummy - green beans, butter beans, and fried okra! Also really enjoyed the Bacon cheese fries. Food is priced ok and portions are fair.

I ordered the broiled seafood trio (shrimp, scallops, and a fish fillet). It came out with little to no seasoning and I am confident the seafood was previously frozen. I would expect to have fresh local choices from a restaurant steps from the beach.

We're local and love the place. There are a lot of long term employees and the owners try their best to please their customers. Try calling ahead to cut down on wait time. Expect to find a crowd on Sunday after church and grab a Bloody Mary or Mimosa while you're waiting. We eat there at least 2 or 3 times a month, and remember when it was previously"Mama's Tea Room". The quality of food has improved tremendously with the current chef and owners. It is the best value on the island- the specials are often "downtown"quality. You can get everything from seafood to "home style" cooking. We enjoy upscale restaurants and gourmet foods at times, but Sullivan's is consistently good and costs a lot less.

Went here for the first time after our other plans fell through. I thought it was great food and atmosphere. If we are in Charleston again in the future, we will check it out again for sure.

Disappointing. Would really like my money back and a do-over of the Friday night vacation meal. Shrimp in shrimp and grits were tiny and chewy. Grit cake was so dry it needed extra sauce. Boiled seafood meal was bleh. Shrimp were sandy, crab legs were below avg. Not sure it was actual drawn butter - so salty and garlicky that I think it was processed. Tourist trap food. Not for discriminating diners.
