Their she crab soup is amazing!! Fantastic lunch spot!
Fried Whole Flounder is back on their specials insert
Really good food. If you haven't been, you should give it a try.
Great old school southern fare along with seafood, broiled, grilled and fried. We love to go for Sunday brunch and my husband swears they have the best bloody Mary's in town! The people that work there are so nice and they are on top of the service there. Don't miss this jewel!
Best seafood around. Best prices too. Great wait staff. Ask for Shannon.
Great food and service. We drive from Summerville to here often to eat.
Always go here on Valentine's day....one of our best rituals! Food is great and service is perfect!
Been awhile since we are there, 24 yrs. Great food.
Had to give it a 3 because the food just wasn't that great. My wife had a fried shrimp sandwich that was just too greasy and my mother had a shrimp salad that was very big and ok according to her. Mine was terrible, but that's partly my fault. I ordered the lunch special which was a Philly cheese steak sandwich. I should have known better being at a seafood restaurant. But you'd think something on special would be ok, wouldn't you?
Good food, good atmosphere. Not over crowded like most of these small restaurants are.
Visit this place every time we're in the Charleston area. It's a MUST.EAT. Everything we've tried here is phenomenal. Stuffed flounder is delicious. Shrimp and grits, delicious. Butter beans are often the veggie of the day and they're also delicious. Service is fantastic and fast. This is *the* local joint to visit. Side note: when ordering the shrimp and grits, have them season the shrimp with the same seasoning that they broil their shrimp with, you won't regret it! For an appetizer, try the crab dip. It's made daily and made with fresh caught crab.
Excellent food, excellent service, reasonable prices
This restaurant is the best you'll find on Sullivan's island. I drove about an 8 minute drive from the Isle of Palms and got there at 4pm and they didn't open until 5 so I was a little peeved but I killed time instead of going somewhere else and I AM SO GLAD I DID because this restaurant was the best one I ate at all week in the Charleston/Isle of Palms/Sullivan's Island area! I had the seven-layered seafood pasta and my fiancee got the seafood casserole and we started with the calamari. The breading on the calamari was exquisite and the okra was the same! Great portions for an average price. Make sure you get there right when they open too, because it is a small place and fills up quickly. Our service was amazing too! Cesar, if you are reading this you were the best waiter we've had in a long time ;) I pride myself in having a good taste in seafood and this place definitely delivers! I would recommend to anyone coming down here!
Overpriced..... under portioned.... overcooked..... gut bomb.... This place would leave even the devil's colon quivering... Prepare to sell a kidney to pay for less than you would receive at Long John Silvers or Captain D's.
The scallops were not fresh (yes they had a rancid taste). The shrimp were not fresh, not local, and for sure overcooked...pretty sad for being couple hundred yards from the ocean as well as a few fish markets in the area.... I would not recommend this place to anyone. The positive reviews for this restaurant are extremely misleading.
The food was good and the staff and owner are very friendly. I would eat here again.
Had a special. Blackened Snapper on bacon grits. Absolutely delightful. Really feel like you're getting some fresh and special fish.
Best she crab soup in the low country! Amazing menu; fresh, delicious and impressed a chef!
Our first visit and we loved it. The food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. She crab soup was wonderful. Will definitely visit again.
Good local spot. Not touristy. Great service. She crab was tasty, prices decent. Baked seafood casserole was very rich and tasty!
Excellent food and service. My whole family had a great experience.
Nice lil place to eat some good seafood, even though they were slammed we didn't wait but maybe 3 minutes to be seated and we got our food really quick which was very good, my Husband thought the She-Crab Soup was "Top Notch"!!
Parking can be touch and go, you can risk a tow and snag a spot at the post office next door. The food is pretty decent. I did the shrimp and fried grits for $18
Great food and great service, made for a great evening out with friends. Seafood was fresh and delicious.
Stopped in after a day a the beach and after a 30 second conversation with the woman at the front door, we were treated like family. The staff was on top of everything, the food is fantastic, and you can tell they truly care. Thank you Mama D and we hope to be back soon.
A great island seafood restaurant. Whenever we are in the area we make a stop here. I had the blackened swordfish this time and it was great. Staff is friendly. Only trouble is finding parking in the summer when the crowds get big.
Excellent food and service except the squash casserole, while very tasty, was cold. My shrimp and grits was great. The sauce was out of this world. The slice of country ham was great but really small!
One of the best meals I ve had in a long time! The grouper was so fresh and prepared perfectly! The sides were down home great and the waiter was informative and friendly! I can t wait to go back again in October!!
Sullivan's Restaurant is an excellent place to just sit out in the sun and appreciate the nice fresh air. The restaurant is probably only a quarter mile from the nearest beach, and it's a real laid-back scene. The food was heavy, but delicious, and that's exactly what we expected when we showed up. This place was one of several restaurants recommended to me by a very well-traveled friend, and I'm glad it was included. Definitely the kind of place where you can just hang back and relax over some fried deiciousness.
Pictured are some fried shrimp, a crab cake, hush puppies, fried okra, collard greens, red rice, good fries, and a great shrimp dip that really blew us away.
It may have been the dish I ordered but it tasted a little funny. It is a fancy place but a little pricy.
The perfect local place!! Crab legs delicious and amazing staff!
Love this restaurant. We always take out of town guests there.
Good service, Good food. Rate it about 4.5. Collards were quite good , okra good, fried shrimp very tasty . Wife had shrimp and grits with ham, she said it was great.
What a gem!!!!
The food is very good and the personal attention is very refreshing. The restaurant is very cozy and clean.
Will be going back.
So I was there yesterday (aug. 12, 2015) and not only did I find a large hair in my she crab soup, but my dad found a piece of plastic wrap in his... the manager (or owner?) Came over, apologized and didn't charge us for them, or 2 of our alcoholic bevs. That was really nice. My pasta was extremely heavy, but that's what I get for ordering a 7 layer Sullivan's special with some sort of cream sauce. I got a salad as one of my sides for it and their homemade blue cheese dressing was fantastic, and I'm very picky when it comes to a specific blue cheese dressing. My mom also ate all of her food. That's hard to do since my mother has specific taste buds... I was so full!
I didnt think it was a good value. A place like this near tbe water should have great shrimp.
Service was good, but the pricing for the the food is way off. For the amount of money they charged, I was expecting better .
Food was great southern style and very affordable. Would come back again
Fried shrimp and fried oysters are cooked to perfection. Cole slaw is some of the beat I've ever had. Warm, friendly atmosphere.
The service wasn't good. Our server literally checked on us three times while we were there. It took forever to get our food. He never asked us how our food was and the bus boy had to refill our drink.
So far poor service. The hostess walked by us several times this evening ignoring me, my husband and brother-in-law. We have been standing inside by the door for awhile now. She sees every white customer but not us. Racial profiling I see at Sullivan s. Scratched off my list.
Not recommended. Atmosphere was shoddy, service was terrible, food was worse and overpriced for guesswork. When I asked the waiter about the seafood choices he couldn t advise because he snickered that he didn t eat seafood. The utensils wrapped in one basic paper napkin was the cheapest utensil ever. It might as well been a plastic fork. I wasn t asked how I wanted my seafood cooked and had one cheap soggy side for an extra item. I should have went to Taco Bell instead.
Been there many times...great family atmosphere and food!
Sullivans on Sullivans Island is one of the best places to eat in the LowCountry...considering the service...quality of the food and price...I highly recommend their Sunday Brunch...and their evening fare is delicious! This review is from a local...
My family and I have been eating here for 20 years. Great seafood, reasonably priced. Has the small seafood restaurant feel.
The food is good. The wait is long if you don't have reservations. Call before 5 to get on the list. Worth going to again.
Great food! Reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere and dress.
My wife and I and another couple went here a couple nights ago (Saturday night) because it was recommended to us, and the food was good I thought. But the next day I didn't think so as much... We all got extremely sick from the food here. All four of us did. I've heard a lot of people say it's good so we were really surprised how sick we got. But I won't go back. The food was good, but not worth being on the toilet for 3 hours.
Fun place ... enjoyable with great menu, yummy food at thr most reasonable prices.
Great seafood!!! Food is great, servers are friendly! Our favorite place to eat when we come down here!
Well gotta say we ve lived here since 1998. Driven by Sullivan s a lot and thought meh . Well let me tell you this is the third time we ve been here in a year. Every meal was great. Tonight we had a Gin cocktail only $7. No where else More
Great place to eat ,great food, fast and friendly service. Looking forward to our next visit.
Went here the other night. The food was really good and they are really close to the beach. I would go back again. I recommend the shrimp baskets!
Awesome family restaurant with super great seafood (and non-seafood too) at a great price! Love coming here!!!
I love this place! It's definitely my hidden gem since you drive past a few other popular places to get to it. The food is always amazing! I always hope to see the seared tuna on the "today's special" menu but even if its not... you cant go wrong with almost anything else. The fried shrimp is awesome! The pasta is fantastic! My only reason for not a 5 star is we ordered the crab dip (served warm which is a little odd to me) and I am allergic to horseradish and when we asked if it was in it no one knew. It's a little concern to not be able to find out what's in something. Aside from that we always have good service, good food and leave full!
I'm from up North, this is one of my first times eating Southern food. It was excellent!! She Crab soup was rich and was great on a rather chilly day. Bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp with creamy grits and collard greens was to die for. Great service and atmosphere as well. Will be eating here in the near future again!
Love this place. The service was good, but the seafood was excellent! A staple that we visit every single year we come to Sullivan's Island.
Sullivan's has been on our menu for laid back, friendly atmosphere & outstanding culinary experience!
Fantastic seafood and great service. We'll be back.
FOOD WAS SO SO AT BEST. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE DUE TO EXTREME RUDENESS, REDNECK BEHAVIOR, AND TACKINESS OF SOME MAN (PRESUMABLY THE OWNER) IN THE KITCHEN 10 FEET AWAY FROM WHERE I WAS SITTING . HE WAS YELLING AT MY WAITRESS AT 8:30PM TO GET US OUT OF THERE SO THEY COULD CLOSE, WHEN THEIR POSTED HOURS ARE TILL 9PM (AT LEAST ON THE INTERNET). MY SIDE OF MAC AND CHEESE WAS.DRIED OUT, COLD AND A LITTLE BURNT WHEN IT CAME, SO I DIDN'T EAT IT AND PUSHED IT ASIDE. NOBODY REALLY ASKED HOW THE FOOD WAS. MY MAIN OF A SEAFOOD, PASTA, AND WHITE CHEESE SAUCE WAS SO SO. MOSTLY PASTA, NOT MUCH SEAFOOD. THERE ARE PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS ALL AROUND THE CHARLESTON AREA WITH BETTER FOOD, BETTER BEHAVIOR, AND A MUCH, MUCH NICER ATMOSPHERE. I REALLY WISH I HAD GONE TO ONE OF THEM.
She crab soup was incredible, as was all the fried seafood.
Seafood Casserole with Collard Greens and Fried Okra was excellent!
Wonderful fried seafood! Lightly fried and just wonderful flavor. I am from this area and this restaurant has been around for 20+ years, they are apart of this community let s support them during these trying times. They have great customer service and food! Thanks Sullivans! My meal was Togo, fried flounder, baked potatoes and Lima beans.
Excellent food great service, hidden gem. We will return..
It was kinda plain for the price but there isn't many options on the island. It didn't really hit the local seafood restaurant spot for me.
Food and service were great! Staff were helpful and accommodating for us with getting my wheelchair to our table.
Food was hot and tasted awesome. We had a great night.
Everything was delicious and you can't beat their prices for seafood. Service was quick and friendly.
Had an excellent meal. Fish of the day. She crab soup was also very good. Wait staff was good.
Small locally owned place.
Offered compliment to owner? and got an earful about how ex husband was a fisherman and she hated fish.
Okay!!
Food was quite good, probably could have done without the commentary on the ex husband.
