One of my favorite places on this planet! This was not the best snow year, but they managed to make the place very skiable for 3 of our 4 day visit. One day was icy, but it did rain and freeze in maine so hard to beat mother nature.

A Magnificent experience. I took my 10 year old daughter there today for the first time and we were very happy with our day. Disney quality customer service. Whoever is running the place needs to go to Sunday River and show them how it's done. Already making plans for the next trip and bringing the rest of the family. Expensive but worth it. Highly recommend.
Was there for Fire on the Mountain. Not the best music venue for sound quality but with three bands in two rooms from 8 p.m. till 1 a.m. oh, it was pretty fun
Huge ski resort l, almost makes you feel like you're out west with some of the terrain and views. Had a great time here around Christmas even though we haven't had much snow this season.
Best resort in Maine. Grew up in Maine and now that saddleback is closed I would cosider it my home mountain. Since living in Maine I have skied at much larger more famous resorts but sugarloaf is special, the people are nicer storage in the lodge is free lift tickets are still reasonable and the skiing really is amazing when there is fresh snow. Hit bracket basin if you can and from the top of timberline take the leftmost run and there is a long narrow glade hidden in off to the side that is amazing. I will never not go to sugarloaf when I go back to Maine.
My boyfriend and I spent a week at the resort last month, and it was an amazing time. The staff, restaurants, and amenities were fantastic. It was our first time in Maine, and this resort alone makes us want to visit again. It is worth the almost 10 hour drive!! It was my first time skiing, and the instructor was an incredible and patient teacher! I would highly recommend the resort for anyone looking for a peaceful and fun place to spend some time!
Extensive groomed nordic and snowshoeing trails in a beautiful setting! Trails for all levels of ability. Friendly helpful staff. Lessons and equipment rentals available. Call ahead for lessons suggested to be sure your needs are met. Delightful lodge with hearty fare and fireplace to warm up by. Lovely ice arena for skaters .
The mountain is great, the staff of the mountain is THE BEST, however they should really be more consoliderate about late check out. Especially when you are with kids. They say on the policy brochure that they can accommodate for late check out. But when we called to ask for a late check out they said ABSOLUTELY NOT.
This is a wonderful place, or should I szy. Number of wonderful places. The hotel is perfect as is everyone who is part of the staff. Gracious , cheerful and beyond helpful. Even though it's a slow time there are excellent places to eat, drink and be merry. Definitely try Alice and Lulu. In fact try several places. There are no losers. It's not just a ski resorg; it's a top flifgt getaway.
Seemed like a good mountain but with the wind speeds preventing lifts from being opened all weekend I couldn t tell you. My advice is DO NOT buy a lift ticket online in advance if you re just coming for a weekend. The prices are attractive but if there s wind that prevents lifts from opening they will not refund you anything. Best they will offer is a voucher but that s not helpful if you re up for a weekend. After factoring in the cost of lodging and the unusable ticket a voucher that would require you to book lodging again to use it feels like robbery. They seriously need to reconsider their policy. Many other mountains in New England go somewhere else.
Whether it's winter or summer this is an iconic Maine destination. Play on the best golf course in the state, take zip line tours or go for a hike in the summer and enjoy the best ski mountain in the 207 in the winter. Always worth the drive from wherever
Everyone needs to experience the loaf!!! I'd recommend mid February to end of March for a vist..... she's usually a little chilly late December and January!! Shred on!!!!
Resorts are notorious gathering places for social status purveyors. I am a down-to-earth gentleman with no concern for that sort of small-minded bigotry. That said, their meals, while considerably pricey, are well worth every penny. In addition much of the price can be attributed to it's somewhat isolated, off-the-beaten-path location. This is not a place you bring the family for Sunday dinners unless your tossing a few hundred dollars down without batting a lash. But the amazing backdrop of Maine's idyllic mountain views makes even that a small price to pay.
8 inches of pow first day , got us started. Excellent conditions throughout. Stayed in condo directly above The Bag. Walk out, ski in. Burger beer and bourbon for $12 at Shipyard brewhaus can't be beat.Good music lively crowd $2 PBR at the Rack final night. Home on Friday. See you next year. Can't wait!
An excellent resort be it for a single, couple, or a family. A great variety of ski runs for all abilities and not super crowded. Definitely a ski place to visit on the east coast!
Location was perfect, great to be able to wake up at 8 and be on the mountain by 8:30. Rooms were fine, service was good. The fact that the town square area at the base of the mountain had such a variety of shops was a huge plus.
I want to post a big thank you to the staff at Sugarloaf! Every single employee we interacted with were courteous, kind and helpful to a fault. Hotel staff, 45 North kitchen and wait staff, lift ops, snowmaking....Carissa Anne and I were treated like royalty at every turn. To all the people at sugarloaf who worked through Christmas week....thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! The weather is capricious, you get what you get....but the Staff at Sugarloaf is guaranteed good!# Donny
Initially booked to celebrate a birthday and to ski and participate in the winter celebration activities planned (tree lighting, fireworks, etc). As the trip got closer, the weather did not look so good. So, Wednesday when I got home from work, I called at 4:10 (check in was Friday at 4), to see if I could reschedule to the following weekend. They would not let me and were extremely inflexible, saying it was because I was within the 48 hour rule.
The next day, they cancelled the winter celebration activities. Now this was definitely within the 48 hours and I could not cancel or reschedule without paying the full price ($400+ for our two night stay). This is not fair to us, who highly considered this event when booking.
So now, our birthday trip had POURING RAIN ALL DAY SATURDAY, and LIFTS CLOSED due to wind on SUNDAY. An actual waste of a weekend to do the one thing we came here to do since everything was closed or cancelled.
While here, we did enjoy the hot tub. It fits many people and is outside which adds a nice atmosphere. Not all the bars and restaurants were open this weekend but we did enjoy The Bag and Kettle for some drinks and dinner. Our room was average, but there were flies. Which was odd and a bit annoying. Some cups and silverware seemed dirty as well, but the room seemed clean and tidy otherwise.
Sugarloaf did help accommodate after getting in touch with the office. As we realize the weather is out of our control, we were mostly disappointed with the inflexibility to reschedule. Hopefully next time our visit will work out.
Loved my room, but it was off season - weekend before the 4th - so not much was open there or in the surrounding area. If you are a morning person, take advantage of the in-room fridge, kuerig, and microwave because you can't get food or even a cup of coffee until 9:30am.
Booked a condo for a benefit ride. Checked in and the AC was broken. (thumbs down for maintenance because it felt like 100 deg in there). This place was booked SOLID! I went to the front desk fuming because I was told they could bring us a fan (you could probably smell the anger seeping from my body). The staff was not to blame but someone needed to do something about this. Long story short; they de-escalated my blood pressure, went out of their way to keep us there (because I was minutes from demanding a full refund and heading home), put us in a condo that was gorgeous (and probably 3 times what we paid) and made sure we had the experience we were expecting. Sugarloaf has excellent business skills and turned a bad situation into a memorable experience. Some people would continue complaining but I am a reasonable person. Stuff happens and a business should be judged by how they handle it and not by the fact it happened. 5 stars for putting yourself in my shoes and making this a wonderful story!! Great job and see you next year!!!
I was there on the weekend of Feb 27 to March 1st and had a great time, the staff at the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel were fantastic, extremely nice and welcoming. From Check in to Check out everyone was just wonderful. The room was clean and the view was fantastic, after 2 days of snowboarding the outdoor hot-tub was magic. The mountain for snowboarding was fantastic, the chairlift operators were super nice. All in all the whole place from the hotel, to the restaurants to the mountain itself I could not have asked for a better weekend. I strongly recommend this resort and the hotel to anyone
