The facility is very nice and the staff are great, but they don't really care about conferences.
We re not skiers, but we went to ride the lift during the fall foliage and it was so much fun!! Breathtaking sights and amazing views of all the trees up and down the slope. I am terrified of lifts and it is quite the climb (so be warned!) however once you re on it and see everyone else around you peacefully enjoying the view it s easy to relax and soak it in! Wasn t too too bumpy either and has (fun and nice) handlers keeping you save on boarding and off boarding
Best skiing in the east! They had 2+ ft of snow when we were there. Wide range of trails. We were there with some beginners and they found rentals and learning slopes easy to access.
It is a drive from everywhere!
Sugarloaf is a challenging but fun mountain to ski. Lots of terrain to choose from. Close knit community atmosphere on the mountain and friendly staff.
Perfect location, great hot tub, and friendly, knowledgable service makes up for what the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel is lacking. In my opinion it's the only place to stay on the mountain and we would definitely stay again.
Notes:
1) The hotel is very sweet, but the rooms are in need of a shallow facelift (peeling wallpaper, age stains, etc). Beds were good and housekeeping was great!
2) If you're including the buffet breakfast in your trip, you may be disappointed. A few of their options were consistently bad over the course of the week - waffle sticks, French toast sticks, and homefries were hard and cold every morning. I ended up eating oatmeal, yogurt and bacon most often because those seemed like the tastiest options.
That being said, the service in the restaurant was great and they serve coffee in huge mugs. If you're a big coffee drinker like I am, you'll be happy.
Overall, it's a cute hotel that's close to everything, but you may want to check out other breakfast options in the area.
Great mountain, very nice people working and skiing. Great vibe. Top of mountain in great shape even though snowfall has been light.
It's a mountain full of variety and the customer service is really amazing like Disney quality
Sugarloaf is a great place to go skiing. Laid back vibe, nice terrain and good food and beer. Conditions are often variable and its really remote, both due to location. Otherwise 5 stars.
This mountain doesn't deserve 1 star more like 0. This moutain sucks. saddle back is better. Bad slopes and stuff. bad food, bad bathrooms, bad snow to eat
Amazing ski location and the staff is really good. Learnt tons in my first ski
Excellent park to learn how to snowboard. Thanks everybody! For real.
My son and I returned last week (we were last there two years ago) and they do an outstanding job here. Room was large and comfortable, breakfast buffet was a big hit, and the front desk people were extremely friendly and helpful (special thank you to Mara). Location right at the base of the lifts, near ski school, etc. Sugarloaf's free shuttle system is the best in the ski industry.
Pretty much as good as it gets for eastern New England big mountain skiing. Wish they groomed a bit better after the last snow storm, moguls everywhere after 10 AM.
What a great Ski Resort!! Long time skier and first visit to Sugarloaf. Amazing mountain, snow and staff
Grounds near lame shops were dirty with trash, people were rude, prices ate ridiculous and the bathrooms were DISGUSTING!!
This place is stunningly beautiful. I'm only giving 3 stars though because we had lunch at the Bag and when I used the restroom, there were dead roaches on the floor. That was disgusting. Otherwise, the sheer beauty of this place is enough to give it 5 stars.
Sugarloaf....
It's the best mountain ever. Even when it's iced, it's still better than most places due to its fabulous grooming. It has very very challenging terrain, but also has spot for the beginners. The terrain ranges from 40ft cliffs to family and slow skiing beginner trails. Sugarloaf is the bast place in New England, and it's definitely worth it... especially after a pow pow day,
Head to Sugarloaf now. You won't regret it!
The singular best ski mountain in New England--if you can afford it.
Great skiing and plenty of other year round activities.
Great snow for this time of year. Had fun during Demo Days. Purchased new skis.
Great mountain, lots of trail and lots of fun. Can be a little crowded at times but it's worth it.
Great snow conditions. Crowd control on weekends could be better. Thanks for the parking lot shuttles
Closest thing to western skiing that you can find on the east coast.
There are not enough superlatives to describe the quality of service and attention to detail that carissa and I recieved during our Christmas week stay at the sugarloaf mountain hotel. Every employee we encountered was helpful and courteous to a fault! The front desk and valets were professional and prompt, the staff at 45 North were top notch, even making special orders for my lady without even being asked!! Thanks Donny!! The place is spotless because the cleaning staff, whatever you needed just appeared at your door. The lift ops were friendly and helpful, taking photos for us! The snow makers...we love them all, every one....a major meltdown just before we arrived and two days later I'm getting sweet soft turns....and all of this during the week of Christmas. Dedicated, professional people doing their jobs exceptionally well!
The weather is capricious, you get what you get....but the staff at the Sugarloaf mountain hotel is guaranteed good!
One of the best spots in New England for steep natural skiing
One of the best ski areas in the Northeast just like out west closest thing
Skied over 130 days this season and this day was in the top 5. Great ski area with awesome terrain and long runs
Brilliant little ski hill. A spirit of friendliness reigns here.
Last weekend with lifts. A lot of walking, which diehard snow / mountain lovers expect this time of year here. Most places were closed today. BBQ on the "beach" patio was lovely! 28th Annual Steel Pan performance was a joy! Thanks, Sugarloaf, for donating the King Pine Room for this event. Staff are so helpful, friendly, laid back. Weather was amazing!!
The lift mechanics are so amazing keeping these lifts safer than ever!
Sugarloaf is great during any season. Love visiting at the end of summer!
Had a great time at Sugarloaf. The mountain has a good mix of trails and terrain and a few parks ranging from small to large features. The employees here are all extremely helpful - be sure to ask them their favorite runs and they'll share that and some more tips. Enjoy!
It was a great place with friendly staff, efficient chair lifts, and the slopes were all in awesome conditions!
I love going to Sugarloaf and always enjoy my time there. The only thing I would suggest is with the amount of traffic that area receives that they add a few more shuttles to their service, especially on peak weekends.
Always lots of fun! Superquad is quick and lots of variety in trails. Timberline is fantastic to get a great view on the way down if it's a clear day.
I think canceling the ski season early and not giving season pass holders any kind of reimbursement for remaining days, well.... It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Was a terrible ski season on top of it. Probably won t be back any time soon if ever, money better spent at other mountains.
Had a great time at Sugarloaf. We stayed at the hotel. Staff very accommodating. Only sore spot was poor wifi. When it was working we'd get about 10 Mbps download. They said they were going to do a wifi upgrade soon. The hotel restaurant was overpriced for us so we ate at other on mountain places. Snow conditions were above average. Lift system gets the job done but they could use a lift with covers to help keep the chill off you for the ride to the summit. My kids rated the mountain a 9/10.
Beutiful! Big! Lots of trails and lifts. Winter season is super amazing, because you can ski right from your rented condo to the lifts
Amazing place! Awesome parks and trails! My favorite one is Toto Road. Family friendly, great staff and delicious food. Big Respect to snowmakers! Strong Maine people Bigelow boys and Amos the Moose!
Amazing and challenging mountain. Another gem of the Northeast.
Seems to be a great mountain, but I went there early in the year, so I couldn't get a full read on it. Base area was quite nice, but a little confusing as you first pull up-it was hard to tell at first glance if there was pick-up/drop-off area. Trails seemed real good, with good snowmaking ability, but I would like to see it mid-stride during the season before I gave a final opinion on it.
Best ski mountain on the east... including the ski patrol.
Such a beautiful place. Full of stuff to do. Kid friendly and lots of fun :)
Abundant skiable terrain including lift service and a large in-bounds backcountry area. Lifts are generally fast moving. Incredible views. Can see Katahdin on a clear day. Lots of cubbies to store your gear.
Beautiful views from the top. . Lots of activities.
Free rides on the ski lift with my grandsons! They loved it!
I try to come here every year for hiking and mountain biking. Very beautiful and peaceful! Great place to go with family and friends.
Friendly, professional and welcoming staff. Delicious breakfast too! The room itself was pleasant with all the amenities you'd expect. The mountain is spectacular and it has a lot of character to it. This was my first time skiing Sugarloaf and I had a blast. It's an enormous ski resort with some challenging trails and the views are simply incredible! I will be back, Sugarloaf. Thank you for a memorable stay.
Sugarloaf is always a fun place to go- dont count it out in the spring time, you can still have a blast going spring touring!
