I have spent several thousand dollars with this company in the last year alone, went into get a couple keys copied and the older guy working the counter could not find my account. I called an employee of mine to look on an old invoice to see if our account number was listed and the old guy working the counter told his other coworker that I need to get off my phone. Sorry for trying to do YOUR job in trying to find my account number. Will never do business here again.
I had a problem with one of the keys that was cut the staff reacted in a professional manner and rectified the problem with no questions asked. Will defiantly do business with Strauss Lock in Des Moines again. Thanks!
Strauss Security has great customer service. Any questions I have, or if I need help changing my system settings, they are super quick to respond to emails or phone calls. The whole team is helpful, and their installation was incredibly efficient and professional. I met with three different home security companies when selecting my system, and Strauss overwhelming won out in employee competence, professionalism, and helpfulness. Thank you!
Amazing place! They can make ANY key you want and they also sell awesome looking hardware, locks, door handles, security systems, and can even open old safes for you or rekey your locks to your house keys.
Had a old file cabinet lock with no key. In about 5 minutes or so I had 3 new keys! Love these guys. Plus these are one of the few places that do USPS keys.
DO NOT USE!!!! They don't even deserve 1 star. I don't know what JOE''S deal is but he certaintly has a negative outlook on life. 3rd parties DO NOT USE this company! LIARS, CHEAT, AND SCAMMERS. These other reviews seem a little fictitious. Because this company is certaintly NOT represented by an honest and professional human. We hired them for their services and when speaking to JOE his tone of voice directly towards me and my other coworker was completely RUDE. Mind you, the whole time we spoke to him, we were completely professional. He told me right off the bat, they only accept credit card, and it has to be UPFRONT. Ok that's fine. So he charges us almost $200, to basically do nothing right. He shows up to the location and when asked what kind of repairs were done, he says nothing. He tells us the missing part and that he WON'T INSTALL IT unless we give ANOTHER UPFRONT CC payment. OK, so we order the part.. when it comes time to install, AFTER charging another $200, he says "I CAN'T DO IT, ITS HIGH VOLTAGE" and that wasn't told from the beginning why ? The first trip out, he identified this part needed to be replaced, KNOWING this part has to do with voltage, he should have checked the panel from the first time to see if they are licensed for it. If he really had such a disgust for working, and he knew he wasn't "capable" of anything high voltage. He SHOULD'VE NEVER accepted the job in the first place, but instead he continuously charged us. DO NOT USE. DO NOT USE.
Wireless App Enabled Capabilities? Fair Prices? Service technicians that show up when they say they will? I found all I was looking for plus friendly service at Strauss Security Solutions. Jacob helped guide me thru the available options and followed up to make sure I was satisfied after the sale. Don't take a chance on other fly by night options when it comes to the security of your personal or business assets.

Phenomenal experience from start to finish! The team that I worked with at their showroom in Urbandale - Justin, Clayton, and Dan - were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. We needed our locks changed ASAP and Strauss delivered! The locksmiths that came to our home, Eric and Nathan, were equally fantastic! They took their time to ensure that the 3 inch screws that we had requested were installed rather than the shorter screws for the deadbolt and strike plate. Furthermore, Eric worked diligently to ensure that our doors closed and locked smoothly. Our back door has never locked so smoothly - like butter!
We had both our front and back door locks replaced. We upgraded from the traditional deadbolt and separate door knob keyed lock with a wifi-enabled keypad. Everyone that I worked with offered suggestions and tips for setting up the app and utilizing the various features.
Prior to contacting Strauss, I did contact other locksmiths that were located closer to our home and/or we had previously utilized. Strauss was the only one that carried the wifi-enabled keypads and had experience installing them in residential households.

Strauss has been serving our security needs for the past 6 years. They are very professional, and also very courteous and personable. When something needs attention, they get right to it. If we need service, there has never been a delay too long... typically they are most immediate. Prior to committing to Strauss we had considered several companies. I can't imagine that any of them are able to provide for us any better than Strauss has and continues to.

On November 24th I called and spoke with Justin Jackson about having a safe re-locked. Was told sure no problem, send me some pictures. Emailed pictures on November 24th, and stated I wanted the electronic lock replaced with a mechanical lock. Didn't hear anything back, which was understandable as Thanksgiving was that week.
Sent a follow up email on December 1st, and said that after looking at it a little more, I would also consider a higher quality electronic lock to replace the current lock. Received an email from Justin the same day, he apologized for the late response, and said he would talk with his safe guy and get back to me by the end of the day. Never heard anything back.
Followed up with Justin again on December 7th and asked if he had heard anything from his safe guy. Justin's response was: My tech did some looking into this. The lock that you currently have will have to be replaced with the one from the manufacturer. The locks I get from American Security Products ( AMSEC) do not spec to fit that. Possibly due to AMSEC being made here in the US and the lock that is on their appears to be a 3rd party overseas. o_O
At this point I sensed Justin was not interested in helping. Being a gambling man, I went against his professional opinion and ordered an Amsec ESLXL lock from mbausa.com. Took me all of about an hour to install, with minimal retrofit necessary.
If you didn't want to do the work, just let me know. It wouldn't have bothered me. Instead you wasted my time, and gave a B.S. excuse, saying it couldn't be done. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred in parts and labor Justin!
