Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa Review

Our visit is always looked forward greatly by our golfing party.Whilst our primary purpose is to use the wonderful golf courses we find that all the services provided 'tick all our boxes'. We cannot find any fault and our only concern is the growing wonderful reputation may mean too many visitors in due course impact on services provided.
Already planning next years visit and possible expansion in party size.

Had such a fantastic couple of days, amazing food, loved the pool and wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for us including a great guy who took us out to the lodges and gave us a guided tour around them. Will be back soon and hopefully stay in the lodge.
Cave home totally refreshed.

My wife and I stayed at the Stoke by Nayland Hotel for three nights. It has a decent gym and pool with Spa facilities. The rooms and Hotel itself are starting to look a little tired. Our bath was rusty and had been badly patched up. The furniture was also looking ragged around the edges although the bed itself was comfortable. Our stay was somewhat spoiled by rowdy idiotic guests banging on our door at midnight. My wife and I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards.

Beautiful venue. Excellent Christmas party night. Excellent food. Excellent dj and music but fix the photo boot. Excellent environment. Excellent staff very very friendly and helpful

AMAZING WEDDING!!! We had our wedding reception at Stoke By Nayland Gold Club & Hotel and it was everything we could of ever asked for. The day went flawlessly thanks to all the amazing staff at the venue. Everyone was so professional, polite and helpful, nothing was too much. The service and food was incredible, all our gust commented on how nice their meal was. A huge thank you to Philippa for helping us plan our perfect day. She was so helpful throughout and really took the stress away from planning. We truly can t recommend Stoke By Nayland enough. Thank you once again to everyone there for making our big day perfect.

Caesar salad to die for, Sports bar is beautifully located with amazing views across the golf course. Thoroughly recommend.

Very stylish place, well suited for older couples. Plentiful, comfortable seating. Delicious food. Only issue was bar pricing, rounds came up different amounts.

We recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights for a family wedding.
We were very impressed by the decor and standard of service that we received.
The restaurant and bar staff were particularly attentive.

Played both courses recently. In my opinion the Constable was the better of the two but both very nice!

Hotel room was lovely and spacious. Breakfast was average - good. Gym and spa was very nice. A really nice touch to be allowed to drink champagne in the sauna. Two weddings were going in whilst I stayed there, the tacky kind. Golf course looked nice, but didn't play.

I am holding my wedding here. Staff are amazing and so are the wedding team. The grounds are beautiful.

Went there for daughters wedding absolutely amazing, venue perfect.

OK spa - somewhat dated and in need of some maintenance. Friendly enough staff and a good treatment. Swimming lessons for children from the local area means at some times of the day the spa is less relaxing as the facilities are dominated by children and their parents.

Very nice hotel. Expensive for drinks. Nice spa facilities. Rooms big and clean. Nice staff. Food nice but expect higher cost for meals. Cosy bar area and lovely golf course with nice views. Parking good plenty of spaces. Golf shop which sells limited gifts drinks sweets also golf accessories. Spa treatments with swimming pool although the chlorine was very strong during our stay. Big corporate rooms a available. Generally a nice place. Would visit again

Wedding day on the snowest day of the year... Amazed by the amount of staff that still made it in and put here heart and soul into it even though short staffed up most respect.

Beautiful location beautiful views. However, not always possible to just stroll around and enjoy them as guests are playing golf so you may get hit! Stayed in a standard double club room. Room needed a little attention here and there. But generally a very pleasant experince. Didn't use to spa so can't comment. Breakfast was good nice selection of cereals and pastries. Plus hot breakfast. Staff were fab arranged for vegetarian sausages for us.

Great venue for parties in the lodges in a wonderful setting.

Comfortable hotel located on the edge of the city and is surrounded by a large golf course ... The black spot is the price of stays that is relatively expensive ..

Lovely location out in the country and features a good club. I really enjoyed staying here and the rooms were spacious and comfy. Went for Christmas dinner here and it was a great place to go. Was a little more expensive than I'd expected but reflects the fact that it is a bit of a smart place to go. Check in and out was fine and the staff friendly and helpful. Would like to go back.

Greens were not the best as they had been cored and this just before the inter club match we were playing in a county tournament.

Very modern feeling hotel in a beautiful area, staff were incredibly friendly and professional. We felt very well looked after. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was really big with disabled facilities. Bed was was absolutely massive. Love experience all round would highly recommend for weddings and other events.

Went for a work function. Had 3 course meal which was amazing. Staff couldn't have been more help full. Dining was very spacious.

Everything is so well organised and beautifully well run

A lot of hills on both courses and in good condition. Hotel is great with a better than expected restaurant. Reasonably priced for a two day break.

Played squash there yesterday and the facilities are superb. We stayed for a drink after in the hotel bar. Well recommended!

Ladies Golf Break
Have just had an incredible short stay at SbN with 23 other like minded lady golfers.
The hotel, spa and golf course were first rate, welcoming our group with open arms.
This is a well run and friendly establishment.

Can recommend this venue for a wedding,always get a couple of hiccups at a wedding but overall a fantastic venue for a wedding

We played Friday and Sunday. The course was in great condition and the greens were true. We had food both days which you can see being prepared, it was top notch. Finally a big thank you to Randal the Head Golf Pro. I had left my jacket in More

Had a fantastic Spa Day. Staff were friendly and the afternoon tea was delicious. Will definitely book again.

Lovely food and wine and great service at this lovely venue. Currently serving evening meals in one of their larger function rooms to allow for more social distancing. Guests are asked to wear masks in reception and the corridors, but are not required to do so in the restaurant or bar.

We attended my sisters wedding here recently, it was a really fantastic weekend. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Michelle and the breakfast team were fantastic, attentive, helpful, so lovely to be greeted by welcoming smiley people. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Really disappointed to have to leave this review but keen for others to be aware of how poorly customers have been treated during COVID with the company refusing to issue refunds for stays that were paid for, in full, over 18 months ago that now can not legally be completed.
They have deleted numerous comments from their facebook page expressing concerns about this matter and have pushed my friend to near breaking point with the stress of trying to obtain refunds for her wedding guests by being utterly unhelpful and showing zero compassion.
Unfortunately, it appears that we are not alone in experiencing these issues as there are many other reviews on various websites of people having similar negative experiences and being subjected to appalling customer service.
Please think carefully if this is the type of company you want to spend your money with and if you do, please make sure you book through a 3rd party site and don't pay a penny until arrival to protect yourself as much as possible.

Only went here for a meeting, but look lovely inside!!

Received a groupon voucher for this place. Phoned up to book, no answer for 2 days. Finally got through only to be told you have to book it through groupon. Tried booking through groupon, long story short, 3 days later coupon won t work, availability gone, whole experience-very frustrating. Can only assume they make it this complicated so that people give up and don t redeem their vouchers. Free money for groupon.

Fabulous spa day. Very friendly, enjoyed very much.

Superb club house. 2 excellent courses, although I've only tried one so far.
