Having been here many times before I feel it is beginning to lack that special something that it always had. The food is not quite as it used to be and the service is very slow. The restaurant wasn't very busy so maybe they feel they don't need the staff although the staff that were on duty were very pleasant. I will return but maybe it might be the last time...

Some very helpful staff members at the desk. Room was a bit 'tired'. Very busy with weddings which can be noisy. Restaurant was pricey and we didn't find it particularly friendly. Breakfast items kept running out so be prepared to spend waiting time. Tasty food overall.

We recently attended for a family wedding ( 25 the November ). This is a large, busy hotel with a fantastic atmosphere. Along with our function there were other events going on and the service was top notch.
we ate in the restaurant on Friday evening and the food is quite simply perfection! the staff are a happy team who genuinely seem to love their jobs and customers. They are all professional, courteous and fun. We ate breakfast on the Saturday morning of the wedding and some of the staff were back again! The breakfast was exceptional and plentiful and top quality. Our wedding meal and buffet ran like clockwork and the food again was out of this world. Our rooms were huge and very clean and lovely comfortable beds. I really cannot praise this hotel enough and we will be back for a relaxing weekend in 2018. Well done everyone!

Hotels in anything ... at a golf course in the middle of nature. The rooms are nice clean and spacious. The restaurant with little choice and service is a bit slow, at least it was for me that I stopped for work. At breakfast there is a bit of everything but before about 7:40 they never finished preparing. A good choice in a place where there is little around.

Excellent golf courses. First class venue. I love that both 18th hole par 3s finish up in front of a modern, glazed club house and function rooms. Friendly staff. You get what you pay for. Quality.

Poor Table Staff

Poor Table Staff
New Year's Eve, lost several drinks to staff member who cleared table of glasses with drinks. When challenged, told us we'd have to buy more. Not professional attitude or behaviour. Good food and friendly reception.
Not sure we will come back.

Take away Mother s Day Sunday lunch was very disappointing. The nut roast didn t come with potatoes or gravy. The cauliflower cheese was bland and the cauliflower powdery. Yorkshire pudding dry and crispy. Everything was cold. Not much of a treat then. I ll never order from there again. Awful

Spa booking system has glitches and the attitude of some of the receptionists is less than idea. Some staff don t communicate well. The treatments were fine but don t raise any issues with the receptionist - they don t like it. The spa manager may call you to discuss - but don t waste your time. She doesn t really want to know.

The members seam to think check in at the vanue doesn't apply to them.
The course was great given the weather we are having. Food offer very good and reasonably priced for a golf hotel resort. Well worth a visit

Went for our friend's wedding. As day guests it was lovely. Only knocked off a point for the lame introduction of the "Mr and Mrs..." moment. I feel like if they are including that in the package then they should have chosen the manager or someone with some gusto. Not a shy post teen male who had very little volume or impact.

All in all a lovely place. Beautiful views of the course. Well cooked food, well stocked bar. And the pregnant mum got her for free. Bonus!

Me and my wife stayed for the night as a treat (mainly to get away from the kids) and had such a relaxed evening. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and was the best 3 course meal we have ever had. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We will return but for the weekend next time. I have recommended SbN to many friends and family. Hopefully see you sooner rather than later.

Seems that this particular business is not interested in answering the phone and being able to take any new bookings for the spa or restaurant. Shame really as you'd think someone would be able to answer the phone, instead it rings and rings and then you finally get cut off time after time. Fantastic Service!! Never mind, obviously you don't need the income.

Big hotel in beautiful setting. Very nice large rooms, comfy beds and quiet.
In the Lakes restaurant my food was extremely expensive for poor quantity on plate, and it was a noisy room! Bar bistro menu has better prices for reasonable portions but many tables have low seating so could be uncomfortable to eat. Elderly guests could struggle to get up and down. Breakfast is standard but unfortunately lacked a "Smoked Haddock & poached eggs" option which, for a hotel of this standard is very poor show!
Swimming pool very nice with easy access and good decor. Can't comment on golf facilities as am not a golfer but guests looked to be having a great time!
Pippins on-site shop very well stocked with quality items.
Overall, a good place to stay if getting a special deal.

We held our wedding reception at Stoke By Nayland and they made our day the best that it could be. They accommodated our every need (I am dairy intolerant and my wife is vegan!) The manner in which we were looked after from the day we entered the building to view with a mind of booking our wedding reception to leaving the morning after was superb. We honestly could not wish for a better day. The duty manager we had made the day go smoothly and worked well with our photographer. She made us feel comfortable and made us feel like we didn't need to worry about anything. I would strongly recommend the venue for weddings. It deserves more than the stars that it has...

Great hotel and the food in the main restaurant is exceptional. Golf courses a good challenge only let down by very slow greens, poorly maintained tees and a lot of stones in many of the bunkers.
But still a great golfing venue. Worth a 2 night visit. We we're there in late July and it wasn't busy.

We had a 3 day Ladies Golf trip last week and played the 12 holes that were open each day. The pool, sauna, hot tub and gym were also used, as well as the odd treatment. We dined wonderfully and were welcomed and looked after very well. Most impressed with the quality of the rooms and the food. Great fun.

I attended for a work training event and subsequent social gathering. The staff were friendly and polite at all points, joined in with the jokes and were on top form all day and evening. The venue was lovely and the food was amazing. Highly recommend.
