Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa Review

Went for a romantic evening away and the hotel was superb, food excellent and the service faultless definitely going again

Went to a party there. Great service, bar prices were reasonable for the type of venue and rooms were lovely. Breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've had.

Fifth year here in the lodges with a golf group. Fab fab fab. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The lodges are great as are the golf courses. Very good food served in the hotel which is locally sourced.

As a organiser of a golf society I took 12 of us to Stoke by Nayland for 3 days. Everything was perfect from the hotel, the courses, the food and most importantly all the staff. Everybody made you welcome and could not do enough.
We play in many places, but stoke by Nayland is our favourite by a long way.

Room was spotless as always and service was fantastic this place never fails to impress

I visited for a wedding. The whole day was fantastic and the venue has every angle covered. The location itself was very picturesque, the decorations and effort put into organising the day was amazing. The rooms were great, very comfortable beds and it was nice to have a decent shower in the room. The staff made every effort to ensure everyone was catered for and wanted for nothing. I would certainly consider this venue for any functions of my own.

Stayed overnight and played both golf courses over two days. Constable course is not worth it at all as greens aren't the best but other course is ace. Hotel staff couldn't do enough for us and facilities are great, used the gym and pool. Best stocked bar full of spirits I've seen in a while and reasonably priced considering you would expect hotel prices. Good selection of ales, lagers and ciders. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I encountered 2 very rude members of staff at the Peake Fitness during my Spa Break. No customer services skills whatsoever. They made me feel extremely irrelevant. Tabitha at the reception desk was excellent, polite and very helpful and decided to take the matter up with manager.

Our return visit, not the easiest time but still loved it overall! Thanks to the staff!! See you next time

Beautiful venue and amazing food. The service was fantastic.

Quality pair of golf courses, and fine hotel, with spa. Only let down was evening meal in restaurant; average at best.

Friendly and helpful staff.. room could be a little more welcoming as was quite dark (golf view) food was great too.

Everything at the hotel was just lovely, beautiful place, friendly staff and good food! The only little complaint we had was the slow Internet. Would recommend this hotel to everyone!

We've been living in one of the Country Lodges here since the end of October. It's been a joy. Even with the hotel, restaurant, spa and golf course closed it's been great. The surrounding countryside is nothing short of idyllic. The staff here have been lovely and the Pippin shop has been a godsend for essentials and delicious treats. I can't imagine a better place to be "locked down" and look forward to coming back when all this blows over.

Beautiful location, fantastic staff and amazing food. Pity we didn't have chance to enjoy the facilities there as we were working night shifts and sleeping during the day.

When you go for a spa day, you assume that you will have a quiet and relaxing day, however this wasn't the case with Stoke by Nayland Spa. It was very noisy at the pool/jacuzzi relax area because there were lots of children between 5-7 pm. Other than that, everything else was brilliant, the room and restaurant were luxurious and the staff very helpful. Would have given a 5 star review if it wasnt for the extreme noise level at the pool/jacuzzi relax area.

Stayes here for our aniversary. Wonderful place, beautiful inside and out. Very friendly staff and large spacious rooms with huge comfy beds. Food in the restaurant was amazing and service is second to none.supurb breakfast with plenty of choice. Pool was a little cold but setting is lovely, the steam room is HOT, sauna was very pleasant. Would have been a 5 but getting a coffee in your room is a mission. But would definitely go again.

Our stay for attending a wedding and agreed by everyone an excellent experience - reception -waiting staff - rooms - food all made our stay so enjoyable - the view of the golf course was wonderful England at its best

Disappointing. Having booked tickets for new years eve dinner and disco, the ' dinner' was a wrap and the disco was very distorted and tinny. Could do better.

Very tired interior !! Requires re vamp ! Staff friendly and courteous ! Food average , Drinks far to expensive !! Both courses in need of extensive work. Greens poor. Wouldn't re visit. Pity the place has good potential.

What a super weekend away. The pool was large enough to swim in. The staff were super helpful. I'll go again in a heartbeat. X

Absolutely amazing!! If you havent been you MUST Had the hen package for my sister and i couldnt fault the place! All the staff are helpful and very professional, spa staff especially. Visited for a mother to be treatment for myself and a full body massage for my mum. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Very professional and made us feel at ease. Beautiful location too. Would visit again.

The hotel itself is absolutely fine. And the staff are professional and friendly. But we had an awful experience for my Dad's 70th. A large group of us had booked in months in advance and we ended up not eating a proper meal having waited for over 3 hours. The chef wouldn't even come out to talk to us.

Fantastic lodges but not all have great views and not that well sound proofed. Great for families and large parties. Well appointed.

Nice spa and pool.

Dinner was a complete rip off. Avoid.

Breakfast buffet was much better but the cooked food is put a very small area. Creates a pinch point and a bit of a scrum.
Lovely patio.

Found the decor and atmos strangely clinical and soulless.

However that said, would stay in the Lodges again.

I had a lovely full body massage by Mica. It was perfect, released my knots and relaxing. Thank you very much!

I feel relaxed from the minute I check in, the surroundings are beautiful. I go just to relax and catch up with my friend, we stay by the pool and swim and read and snooze! Friendly staff. Nice touch with kettles in the room. I had a car park view this time which wasn't as nice as my previous ones with a golf view. Breakfast is fantastic with an amazing view. Dinner is also excellent. I am coming back this weekend!

If you are djing there make sure you take sandwiches!

My son attends swimming lessons here and he loves it.

We stayed at the hotel for a wedding, we were initially overcharged for our room almost double the price! Fortunately we spotted the error. We used the restaurant on the Friday evening & waited almost 2 hours to be served 2 courses! This may be unrelated but 3 of our party had quails egg starter & were unwell the next day.

Brilliant day.......was made to feel very special. Lovely staff and great treatments. Thank you for making my birthday special...

Just came back from a Golf break here with 3 friends. We loved it!! Everything just went so smoothly over the 3 days. The staff were absolutely fantastic and now planning our next trip back!

Excellent meal although I wouldn't recommend the hotel rooms which are no better than premier Inn and cost twice as much.

Went for a meal at lunch time, very busy. Food nicely cooked & presented. All looked clean & tables not too tightly packed. Staff helpful & friendly.

Staff fab especially the reception so happy and helpful definitely going back spa so chilled x

Fantastic afternoon tea in the restaurant and drinks in the lounge around the open fire.

Paid 26 pounds to play 18 holes on the Gainsborough Course and it was superb value for money.
Friendly members and staff, course was in great condition and the layout is enjoyable and challenging.
Look forward to trying the Constable Course next time.

If you enjoy 6 hour round of golf this is the place for you

Friendly and helpful staff very inviting made to feel welcome great golf course highly recommend.

We enjoyed a one night stay over a weekend recently. The room was generous in size (although the window was a little small), the bed extremely comfy and the bathroom facilities excellent.
We very much enjoyed the opportunity to start the day with a swim in the pool too.

Lovely hotel and really nice spa. Really helpful staff and lovely food. Rather on the costly side but worth a treat

I really enjoyed playing golf here, though the course can play quite difficult if you're not accustomed to a lot of hills with blind shots. The course was extremely well maintained and the staff were all pleasant and professional. If you get a chance to have breakfast while overlooking the two 18th holes, I recommend it!

Beautiful venue! Went for a Headway Essex charity ball and had an absolute blast! Food was delicious, the venue very clean a d smart, bar was very busy though so perhaps could've done with an extra member of staff there, but that didn't detract from the excellence of the evening!

Stayed at one of the lodges for a hen weekend. Designed to high spec although sofa beds quite flimsy and uncomfortable, could do with sun loungers on the balconies or out on the lawn though. Lovely surroundings, staff friendly and helpful.
Used the spa for a swim and to use the sauna and steam room. Small area outside to sunbathe where the loungers were constantly in use. Unfortunately one in our group had her purse stolen whilst we were at the spa. Purse found the next day hidden in the sanitary bin, emptied of all cash. Apparently this has happened to a member of staff also!

We love supplying Wedding Discos and Photo Booths to this venue.
