Beautiful national park. It is a pity that you cannot enjoy this beautiful Dutch nature for free, but that you have to pay an entrance fee of 11 euros. However, this money is necessary to maintain the park in this state. I was here during the day and unfortunately didn't see any game. Only slightly wild people.

Great day out. We parked outside the park at the Otterlo entrance and walked the 2 min walk to the entrance to pay. One adult ticket is 10.95 euros and the carpark is just under 4 euros. (You get given a ticket with a barcode on for the carpark and scan it to exit the carpark.) Yo u can also buy a map of the park but there are free maps on boards around the park too.
Even with COVID-19 the free white bikes are still available. We would definitely recommend biking as the park is huge. No gears which does make it a little dificult over some of the bumps/small hills and to brake you have to pedal backwards. The bikes are available at all the entrances, but if you leave your bike in a more secluded bike station and explore by foot, don't expect your bike to be there when you come back. But it isn't far to find another bike at another bike station. There are big bikes and also small bikes. The seats adjust and there's child seats on the back of all the bikes where you can strap in your bag.
Due to COVID-19 there is a one way sytem for bikes so plan your route.
We didn't see any animals and it wasn't the best time of year to see the heather in bloom but the different terrians are amazing - forest, sandunes, dry desert like shrubs...
Lots of picnic benches around. In the center of the park there is a kids playground, toilets, food places but COVID-19 means the toilets are not open. The museum is also not open at the moment. There are however drinknig water taps to fill up water bottles, and you can order food at a couple of places in the park -hot and cold food.
All in all this park is definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful cycling through the national park. Very nice that there are several bicycle sheds spread throughout the park, so that you can leave or take a bicycle with you at any time. Bicycles are of good quality and easy to adapt to your own wishes.
The only point for improvement are the toilets. Unfortunately, these are not often present. Something to keep in mind before you go: don't drink too much beforehand!

In some parts of the park the nature is beautiful, however in some parts it feels very "laid out" by tourism and flora (eg trees perfectly lined up). Little to no fauna seen, but many security cameras. The entrance of 10.95 per day is a lot. There are plenty of other beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands that are cheaper or free.

The park is really nice. We spent 5 hours there riding and the lunch at the central location was good food for the price you pay. I would highly recommend taking the bikes after you pay for entrance rather than driving through.

This is a beautiful nature reserve. We were given a tour by one of the managers, and that made for a great experience. He showed all sorts of things that I would not have noticed otherwise.

A few groups of pigs made the walk complete. The deer unfortunately had an ADV day, we only saw some traces.

Great place for a day trip! Popular destination with many people. However, the experience, as a whole, seeded a question about the implication of making "so easy" the access to nature (like having a network of roads and bikeways): in one side, people will not protect what they do not know. On the other, you cannot experience nature of you arrive to the park 'by car', you enter with it and you take a seat to "enjoy nature" as if it is only 'entertainment'

Nice and nice park to walk around and cycle for a day. too bad there was not much wildlife to see. then it is better to walk a long route outside the park, far fewer people (great advantage if you want peace like us) and much more wildlife!

The visit in the autumn is incomparable. The multicolored trees, the multitude of beautiful mushrooms in the trunks and fields and the facilities for hiking and bicycle availability for those who wish to make this park an ideal place to rest your mind.

A beautiful area, you can walk very nicely. We were not informed when purchasing our entrance ticket that there was a walking map especially for the Hoge Veluwe. Some hiking trails were also not accessible during this period.

The routes weren't that clear. Even if you looked on the map (you have to pay for aswell) you still don't really know where to go. Besides that, the nature you saw around you was still stunning! So i would still recommend going here!

About Stichting Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe

Stichting Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe: A Green Treasure of the Netherlands

Stichting Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is a non-profit organization that manages and maintains one of the largest and most diverse nature reserves in the Netherlands. Located in the province of Gelderland, this national park covers an area of 5,400 hectares and offers visitors a unique combination of natural beauty, art, architecture, and history.

The park was founded in 1935 by Anton Kröller and his wife Helene Müller as a private estate. They were passionate about nature conservation and wanted to create a sanctuary for wildlife where people could also enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and horse riding. To make their dream come true, they hired landscape architect J.T.P. Bijhouwer to design the park's layout with different habitats such as forests, heathlands, sand dunes, and ponds.

Today Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is open to everyone who wants to experience its wonders. The park has several entrances where visitors can buy tickets or use their Museumkaart (a Dutch museum pass) to enter for free. Once inside the park, there are many things to see and do depending on your interests.

Nature & Landscape

One of the main attractions of Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is its diverse flora and fauna. The park has over 5400 hectares (13 000 acres) with different landscapes such as forests with oak trees or pine trees; heathlands covered with purple heather flowers; sand dunes shaped by wind; grasslands grazed by red deer or wild boar; wetlands inhabited by birds like herons or ducks.

Visitors can explore these habitats on foot or by bike using one of the many trails that crisscross through them. There are also guided tours available led by knowledgeable guides who can explain more about each ecosystem's characteristics.

Art & Architecture

Another unique feature of Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is its collection of modern art scattered throughout its grounds. The Kröller-Müller Museum houses over 90 paintings from Vincent van Gogh along with works from other famous artists like Pablo Picasso or Piet Mondrian.

In addition to this museum's impressive collection are several sculptures placed around various locations within the park itself - including works from Auguste Rodin - making it an outdoor gallery experience unlike any other!

Historical Stories

Finally yet importantly comes historical stories which add another layer into this already fascinating place! Visitors can learn about how humans have interacted with nature throughout history at various sites within Het Nationale Park de Hoge Veluwe – including ancient burial mounds dating back thousands years ago!

Conclusion:

Het Nationale Park de Hoge Veluwe offers something for everyone – whether you're interested in exploring natural landscapes up close while hiking/biking through them OR admiring world-class artwork/sculptures outdoors OR learning more about human history’s interaction with nature! With so much variety packed into one location it’s no wonder why Stichting het nationaal de hoge veluew has become known as “the green treasure”of Netherlands!
