Terrible service!!! We hired the funicular ride and it did not work, they told us they would return us $ 10 per person and that did not happen. On the terrace we were greeted by a colored man named Mauricio, who left More

Very kid unfriendly.

Very kid unfriendly.

They did not allow to take a baby stroller (babyzen yoyo - so small that it is even allowed to be taken to the airplane cabin).
Another guests who were holding a baby car seat, which was even bigger in size than our stroller, were allowed to take it inside.

The amazing scenery from top of the hill make this a not-to-be-missed when you visit Napa Valley. They are v smart to package this with cable car gondola (v kid friendly) and make this self guided tour with five wine tastings. All the staff are extremely friendly At the end of the tour, you can get a cheese platter with a nice glass of prosecco and enjoy th view from the patio. This is a must visit for Napa.

Very disappointing experience for our group of 10 with advance reservations for the Silver Experience at $55 per person. We weren't given all of the wine tastings that were supposed to be included, we were rushed through, weren't directed where to go, was very poor customer interactions for the spendy, tastings.

Jocelyn Hoar GM, Direct to Consumer - in response to your reply Jocelyn, we all live in Minnesota so we are unable to revisit the winery for resolution of a better experience. We researched to find the best wineries to tour during our visit and selected Sterling and got advance reservations for our group of 10. No one cared that we were there. We waited forever for service, no one gave direction, one server was very rude, one server never gave us our tasting and we were told to hurry up. What a huge disappointment!

Purchase the silver experience but there is nothing silver about it. It took forever to get our wine tasting plus the cheese platter. We were there for about 2 hours by the time we received everything. On the check out we tried to purchase some wine bottles. There is a group in front of us the cashier was waiting to validate their membership. We patiently waited. A secondary group arrived behind us. Once a cashier completed with a transaction she went ahead and tried to charge that group. HOW RUDE!! WILL NOT RECOMMENDATIONS THIS VINEYARD!! They even tried to argue! PLEASE CHECK YOUR CAMERAS!!!

My wife and I weren't sure which vineyard to visit during our stay in Napa. Sterling Winery was a great choice. Plenty of great history, wines, and selfie opportunities.

Also, we were lucky enough to cross paths with Jeff, one of the vineyard managers, who pleasantly offered some great information regarding Sterling and some interesting facts about wine craft.

Making a stop is worth your time. Enjoy.

I loved this winery because the tasting was so interactive and got you walking and seeing the property. The gondola ride up was a breath of fresh air and made it memorable, with beautiful views. I liked that you had to go to different stations to try the wines. The staff was super sweet, and made us feel so welcome. Loved the views. Definitely one of the must visit wineries in Napa.

First ever wine tour and I LOVED it! The venue offered great views, great tastes and very interesting tour. Got the basic package and that was more than enough for me, the final tasting was at their "rooftop" and the view was spectacular!

Nice.

The biggest feature is the cable car
The first time you come to napa, you can take a look.
The cheapest wine tasting has no navigation
Overall, the cp value is not high, but the cable car can be done once.

It was a extremely scenic and beautiful place and different experience than other tourist place
Specially this vineyard is so beautiful and there is ropeway to go at the top.
We loved the second last wine and we brought one bottle from them. The test is so good and loved it

It takes a cable car to go to the winery, which may be another experience for families with children. The winery has a beautiful view of the neat vineyards in the valley and the castles opposite the castle. The wine is good. When you arrive in July and August, you will be lucky enough to run into the clearance sale.

A nice gondola ride to the top with expansive views. Videos everywhere showing what is done (self tour is sufficient). In the basic tasting, all but one wine is available at commercial outlets.

Loved the gondola ride, tasting experience and a beautiful scenery. Got to taste a red blend that was served at the Emmys which was fun! Its nice to keep the wine glasses as souviniers. Would definetly go again for the platinum experience.

I was not impressed with this place. The tram ride/tour/tasting is overpriced. The views of the Valley are okay, but nothing spectacular. The wine is mediocre. I have been to many other wineries that offer better for less.

This is simply the best winery to visit because of the views. Yes you get a great self paced tour to see the entire property and it may not be the best wine but it's a must see. Starting off with the gondola ride straight up the mountain with one of a kind views. There are then tasting stations at various points you walk to around the property. You get to see amazing panoramic views of the entire valley. You finish at an open restaurant overlooking the valley. The best experience in Napa

You can buy the wine cheaper at the Target in Napa valley.. it's worth the view, but don't buy anything there.

EDIT: In repose:

1) The wine steward at the top, poured two glasses of wine, when we only ordered one. We told him that we only wanted one, but he said it's all good.
2) the wine steward was very pushy to get us to join the wine club, and to buy more bottles of wine than we wanted.
3) when we went to cash out, we were charged for two glasses of wine. Wasn't worth, confronting the wine steward since something weird was definitely going on.
4) was given a pencil to sign my bill. Took a photo of it in case my $0 tip was changed.

Overall the place was Nice, but man the service at the end while chilling on the patio was the worst.

Beautiful setting, views, average wine, but they're constantly trying to sell you membership. One server even tried to sell an aerator but "demonstrating the difference". I felt like I was watching a commercial. There is even a gift shop which feels a bit tacky for a winery.

Great views and good wines!! Just be ready to walk many steps.
Revised: the staff was very accommodating and helpful. The air tram was a nice smooth ride and didnt even feel like we were moving. Highly recommend.

Huge, beautiful property! You take a fun and scenic tram ride up to start the tasting, and tour through the buildings with wine tasting stations along the way. The staff there was so knowledgeable, you can tell they love their jobs and are passionate about what they do! The view from the rooftop at the end was spectacular. The wines themselves were good.

Spectacular!!! Unlike all other wineries. To arrive you will have to pay the visit US $ 45 per person entitled to take a cable car, they call it a Gondola, and the tasting. Breathtaking view, place with tour without needing a guide. Everything is very well signposted. If you want to have a wine tasting, you can order snacks that will cost US $ 16 per person. Do not let to go. Very worth it !!!!

We had a great time with girlfriends, stunning view from the trolleys and great expert in wine, and they also changed the Silver tour to other one because we had a baby with us without charge and problems, we will recommend it for friends.

fwiw this was our first winery trip as a couple on a Tuesday morning. Staff was friendly bf answered all of our questions. Views and gondola ride were nice. They were doing construction in some of the rooms which was a downside. Wine tasting was very informative and the cheese pairing was to DIE for. At the same time they have a "before you die...." art installation that was a nice surprise.

It wasn't the winery you expected. The staff looked exhausted and poured out the wine unintentionally, and the modern manufacturing plant was disappointed, not the winery that I personally expected. Castello di amorsa, which I visited a few years ago, was much more than a sight seeing and good service.

Had a pleasant experience here. We arrived earlier than our scheduled time and we didn't have to wait. I loved the air tram - got a nice view of the vineyards. Very courteous staff. Great selection of wine. Lovely view from the terrace. Very chill environment - you can take whatever amount of time you want to walk around and enjoy the views. I would definitely recommend this place for wine tasting.

Loved how beautiful this vineyard was, however for $35 per person I was expecting more. Beautiful ride up the gondola to the main building, we tried 3 different tastings (very small portions! I know I m use to niagara on the lake, but even compared to other high end vineyards in the area, they were very small).

In our bachelorette group we had one friend who was pregnant, however they would not accommodate her at a cheaper rate (like a kids rate), given that she was not even going to do the tasting. I thought that was tasteless.

Other than that, it s really the views that make the location, and it was nice to try wine that we re use to drinking in Toronto at the actual vineyard. But not much for $35 per person and making a pregnant woman pay full price who obviously wasn t drinking.

Beautiful place to visit. Very nice layout built with guests and tours in mind. Not cheap, but nice experience. Beautiful overlook of the valley. Tasty wines. Relaxing self guided tour. Clean factory floor with clean machines. Neat informative videos. Friendly staff.

Nice tram ride albeit short, and a great view up at the vineyard, but for $35 pp, I'd expect a lot more variety of tastings then just 3 stations. Also, you can no longer sign up for club membership and receive the benefits of free entrance on the same day. What a shame! I would've bought so much more wine per membership requirements, but because of this stupid policy, I will never come back again.

Update Aug 2019
So per Sterling's suggestion, I am reviewing the club membership benefits. Apparently, I can no longer sign up and pick up the bottles on my first visit. They said, rather "firmly", that I had to order a shipment first before my benefits are activated, even when I said I could buy right now over the phone and pick up the bottles on the weekend. The guy on the phone even said that they had to enforce the "shipment" policy so that people will not take advantage of canceling the membership after the visit, implying that I was doing just that. I don't understand why shipping the bottles to me vs me picking them up are any different for them. I just don't want to pay for shipping. I am a willing buyer, but I didn't appreciate the tone or the policy. I can't even pick up my first shipment this weekend, even though it is scheduled for September. Why is that?

The Winery unfortunately has changed its culture since my first visit in 2015. I had a really good time then and my group bought thousands of dollars worth of wine. It's unfortunate that my recent experiences are vastly different.

While sterling has stunning views and a beautiful property, the wine is subpar compared to neighboring vineyards, very small pour amounts and EXTREMELY pushy salesman trying to sell their "Exclusive" wines. Good for the view, not for wine

I really loved the experience that comes with a Visit to Sterling Vineyards. You take a cable car to where they make the wine and are given many tastings while you walk around the facility. The views from the patio area are breath taking and I plan to come back during the spring or fall to see the views with all the vines full of grapes and leaves.
If you are willing to spend the extra cash, take the second set of cars up to the top of the hill, where you can experience the owners art collections and sample some of the higher quality wines.
Come for the wine but stay for the view and atmosphere.

You visit for the views, not the wine. If you go on this basis you'll have a good time. If you do the silver experience though you will taste some good wines. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

The cable Tram ride up the hill has spectacular view of the surroundings.

The Silver experience is not worth the extra $10 dollars to pay because you can easily order the cheese platter sampler on the south balcony which has a greater view than the restaurant.

I wish they had more substantial and better selection of food to pair with the wine than just the cheese and meat platter.
