Bartender was a super awesome guy, answered my picky a** questions about beers and never rushed our order. Would definitely eat here again (also the Texan quotations PowerPoint are HILARIOUS #VoteForKinky )
I have never felt a need to write a bad review of a meal before now. You expect expensive when sitting down at an airport to eat. What you don't expect is terrible food. Three family members ordered tacos and one ordered tortilla soup. The tacos were truly the worst I've ever had. Two small tacos for $10 no sides, no seasoning. The chicken meat may have been canned based on the flavor. The soft corn tortillas on all of our tacos were not warmed so that when bent they broke in the middle leaving a bad tasting mess that had to be eaten with a fork. When the waiter came by to ask how everything was I politely told them terrible and explained. A manager came by apologized but offered no remedy and just avoided us until we left. The tortilla soup was also weak. We left hungry and feeling ripped off. I give one star because Google doesn't offer zero stars.
Mildly fancier airport sit down restaurant with more unique food options. I went for the BBQ brisket and horseradish potato salad. And while that meal in and of itself is not fancy, I got it because there's just no good BBQ in Colorado where I was flying home to. I was born and raised in Texas and very much miss good BBQ. Anyway this was very delicious brisket but way over priced. I'm quite certain the other plates they have available would have been just as good because they looked good when I was glancing around at what other people had ordered.
Fast service (a must at any good airport restaurant) and very flavorful food - I really enjoyed the blackened salmon with green chile hominy. Recommended!
Bartender is very loud. I could not have a conversation with my wife.
Then he injects his arrogant self into our conversation. Jerk!
Worst experience. First I asked for a table along the wall. The hostess seated me where I asked but not until she gave me a earful. She said people don't need to ask where they want to be seated. It is her role to do so. She kept going on and on about it. I finally said I could see if I asked for a 4 top but I was by myself and asked for a 2 top.
When I ordered my food I asked for the jelly sauce to be put on the side. When I received it, it was put on top of the fish. Waitress then told me that it is usually put on the side dish so they figured on the fish would be okay
I guess they of the thought process you are at a airport and it doesn't matter.
I'll preface this by saying that I was ready to give this place a worse review. I had the chopped brisket sandwich with the three potato salad. The sandwich itself was really on point. It didn't even need the sauce on the side, which is good because the sauce was too vinegary for me. But, I'm of the opinion that Texas barbecue should stand on its own without ketchup. The brisket was moist and full of flavor without being too salty or otherwise. Everything melded well together as far as flavor. Now on to the potato salad and the reason I was going to give this 3 stars. The potato salad was mayonnaise based which I normally don't dig on, but my issue at first was just how bland it seemed. I mean like boiled potato just dipped in mayo bland. Turns out, I was just trying a chunk of potato without getting everything together. A big mistake, I know. Once I took a real bite, there was a huge depth of flavor and spice. I really enjoyed it and I hate mayo. Finally, craft beer prices are in line with the rest of the city, but liquor is pretty high. $13 for a Jameson neat. Brisket sandwich is on point, though.
The food is nasty and overpriced! The customer service is horrible! I don t know why a chef like Pyles associated himself with this restaurant! Please do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else!
We've been known to arrive to Love Field early so we can dine at Sky Canyon. LOVE their Texas cuisine and mixed drink is great. Just wish they had one NOT inside airport
Well they have booze and food... But it's a pigsty. Can't be choosey in an airport with fewer than 50 barstools. Would drink away Southwest's incessant delays again.
(Had to take two stars because they made me late for my flight)
Food was excellent and pricing was great for an airport restaurant!
Great food and good service. Prices were beyond standard airport pricing.
The cobb salad with the fried avocado was delicious! Love the 72-hour brisket with the spicy potato salad and the wagyu Burger was spot-on!
my goto lunch spot when flying out of love field. brisket sandwich is always great. I love the jicama slaw and potato salad. fried chicken is also worth ordering if you have some time to kill.
Got fried chicken. It was under seasoned. Biscuit tasted bland and was hard, seemed old. Ceviche was good.
Lackadasical service. Sorry if I stopped in while open and interrupt your closing?
Great customer service and the migas was really good.
Good chicken and mushroom tacos and good brisket burger. Fries good.
Another solid Tex Mex place. I feel like if you visit TX...you kind of get overwhelmed by Tex Mex, so that's why I haven't given it 5 stars. However, it was good food...I just think my olfactory senses were blunted by all the Tex Mex around.
If you're looking for good airport food, this place has food with better ingredients than most. I had an entree with grilled fish and mashed potatoes that reminded me more of an actual restaurant than just your typical airport food. The service was also good. I walked right up, was immediately seated, and was taken care of throughout the entire meal.
Not.your typical airport food! I enjoyed a delicious bowl of chili...but the menu offered a wide variety of gourmet dishes!
Service is welcoming, no rush to move on if waiting out a flight. Food is fresh and high quality, normally lacking in an airport. Full bar and wine but no draft and a weak bloody mary.
Hit (sometimes great) or miss (slow is all) service but the food is as good as you hope - priced like an airport but so is the rest of the place which makes this five star food a pretty good deal.
Chicken salad sandwich was nothing but chunks of chicken in a sauce. They also charged me $3 for soda water. Rip off place! Avoid!
The food is good and given this restaurant is located in an airport the price is not bad.
food is mediocre. Spend your money somewhere else. Order the fried chicken and it was undercooked.
Worst Chicken Ceasar Salad I have ever had. Came out with fancy presentation, but almost no dressing and what was on it tasted like pepper. Definately was not ceasars. Soggy croutons with some hot spice in them and some type burnt cheese wrapping. Only good thing was lettuce appeared fresh. Real waste of about 20 bucks for salad.
Great food, good music, and some of the friendliest servers around. Definitely worth dropping in.
Tuna ceviche was fantastic. Excellent service by EJ. I'll hope for a location someday out West!
Server very nice, food slow to come out so be aware if catching a plane. Food mediocre...the butterscotch salted caramel pudding was nasty.. like scrambled eggs with runny Carmel.
I came here for breakfast and my first impression was that the suede padded seats/benches were filthy and it usually throws me off when ever I go to an unclean restaurant. Nonetheless, I still ordered and the customer service was good. I was given one plastic knife and one metal fork, the plates didn t look too clean either. The pancakes I ordered were gooey (uncooked) and tasted sour, the scrambled eggs tasted off as well. I let the waitress know and she kindly offered me alternatives in which I chose toast. The bread seemed stale too! I was disappointed as I was hungry and looking forward to the meal. It s a lovely ambience and good service but This place needs to be reviewed and inspected so that customers are getting a better experience.
One of my more pleasurable airport food experiences. I had the bacon wrapped meat loaf served with mac & cheese and brussel sprouts. All of it was great but they were maybe the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. John was my waiter, he did great.
The current 3.7 review is way off in my opinion. Only complaint was the paper under the mac & cheese (served in a cast iron skillet) disolved into my meatloaf, try foil.
Thanks guys.
I had the shrimp and grits, they were very cremy and delicious, I would absolutely recommend it. The Mrs had chicken pesto sandwich the bread was great and the chicken has very good and the french fries are great as well. Highly recommend it.
Don't know about the food, but $5.00 Mimosas are great before boarding the plane
Wry customer service. Food was okay. Spent 30.00 on an average tasting tuna sandwich and a glass of wine. If I ever go again, I will try ceviche. That may be a better choice.
I do not recommend this place. I ordered a burger medium and it came out a burnt hockey puck after waiting for over 30 mins. Find a different place to eat
First time I got a bone-in chicken breast on a salad so that was interesting. I like the atmosphere and this may have just been a mistake, but at $17 for a chicken salad, I expect better quality control, even at an airport.
Surprisingly good food for an airport. Get the tortilla soup!
This place was gross. The benches were stained and sticky. I felt like putting my suitcase on them was wrong and I fly twice a month...and deal with all kinds of disgusting things. The food was ok. The drinks were strong.
A bit of a disappointment because I was expecting to be wowed. I had the blackened salmon which was very under seasoned. It was cooked well but not memorable. The accompanying green chil homny also forgettable. The tomato jam was really good but unfortunately there wasn't enough of it to go along with the rest of the plate.
Could've done without the food poisoning for my flight home. They'll never get another penny from me again.
Fantastic food in an airport. Brisket tacos had great flavor and very well prepared. Contrary to the other reviews, $11 for two huge tacos is actually a very good deal. It appears the other reviewers don't appreciate creative cooking and would have been happier at Whataburger. I love Whataburger as well, but don't go into a gastropub or creative dining spot and expect a two foot high pile of bland nachos. Great service as well.
I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf (of course) and it was delicious. Like, over the top good, although it was very high in sodium. The guacamole appetizer was good, but not as fresh as I would have liked. However, this is a restaurant in an airport. If you are at Love Field in Dallas, and you're looking for an excellent meal at a reasonable price, this is your spot.
$12 bucks for a drink...uncalled for...wont be back
brisket and bbq sauce is amazing and surprisingly restrained serving size. docked a star for seat cleanliness. you'll understand when you see the seats.
The shrimp ceviche with yellow tomatoes sounded so good, but all it really was, was little precooked cocktail shrimp drowned in hot sauce, with a few tiny chunks of crunchy supermarket (red) tomatoes thrown in. Saddest thing I ever saw. How pathetic--and cost me $12 to boot. I couldn't even eat it. It was awful.
Great food, a bartender that can make a drink not on the menu. That's all ya need.
For an in-airport terminal establishment... very pleasantly surprised! The Waygu Beef Burger was cooked to perfection, flavorful, juicy, and in short - excellent!! The brisket being served at the neighboring table looked great too, and judging by the primal eating/devouring of it sounds coming out of the patrons... will be my must-try, next time passing through Dallas/Love. Service as well - both fast & attentive. Loses 1 star for cramped seating & cleanthliness of the table itself - but which I can understand with it's airport location & the rapid turn-over flow, can certainly be a challenge.
It's pretty fancy with a small menu, but the swevice was prompt and I didn't feel too poor even though I am lol. I got the honey fried chicken; not bad but the honey did get on the fries a lil bit. I liked it but it was $20. The cheaper menu items run around $14. But the well drinks were only $8.50, not baaad. I don't take stars off just because a place is more expensive than I thought especially when the service is fast, js. Ok anyway if you want a place with a restaurant feel in this Lil airport this does the trick nicely.
Had the Southwest cuisine interpretation of migas and a craft bier from a local brewery. The migas were very had plenty of flavor with a nice nice level of burn-hear from the spices. Unfortunately if was filled a quite mushy; tortilla strips had no crispiness at all and potatoes were a key ingredient of the dish. Glad a good bier was available to wash it down. Staff was extremely attentive and very friendly.
Brisket tacos were a joke. It had no flavor. Even the sauces were blah. The servers were inattentive, far too casual, and slow moving.
Good place for airport food. I really like the tuna ceviche and shrimp and grits.
Not a lot of veg. options, but the guacamole was awesome!
You have to have the Margarita! Dave took care of me as I had 3 hours to kill. The Cobb Salad was great and I took the Brisket to go. Great experience and would spend my time there the next time I am at the Dallas Love Airport.
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I got restaurant quality service and delicious food at the airport. I had the brisket tacos and tortilla soup. Outstanding! What impressed me most was the service. Staff treated me like they expected me to return.
I had the wagyu beef burger with fries. The burger is really delicious. It is slightly spicy. It comes with condiments on the side so you finish constructing the burger to suit yourself. Warning : the pickles are sweet, made in-house. No dill available. They were good so no problem. The fries were limp. I will order this again if I get the opopportunity. But I will try the potato salad instead of the fries.
Queso sucked, how do you mess up queso? It was sweet, strange. Shrimp ceviche not bad. Salad not too bad but no Ranch dressing? Blue cheese or lime vinaigrette that tasted like perfume. Weirdest spiced food ever, chef trying way too hard.
Really above-average sort of place to find in an airport. I really enjoyed my meal there - I had the meatloaf with mac & cheese, which also came with Brussels sprouts as a fun little surprise. I liked the choices and there were some good drinks too; service was friendly without being overwhelming. If you want something a bit different than the regular fast food offerings (and don't want all the trash associated with a fast-food meal; there's too much plastic in the world!) then head on over to Sky Canyon :)
The brisket was good. Just wish the portions were a little bigger.
Breakfast is gross and cost $50, wish I could have held off for the chicken fried steak that I know is good. Just terrible had two difference Mexican dishes they tasted like they had sugar in them.
Great service.
Awesome brisket.
Barbecue sauce was exceptional.
I don't normally like potato salad, their potato salad was very good.
Apple crumble was just good.
Snobby staff, they will not seat you or wait on you.
Pre-flight dinner at Sky Canyon by Stephan Pyles in Dallas Love Field is one of my better in-airport dining decisions. One of the staff recommendations was the Beef Brisket Sky Canyon Tacos (2), with both red and green salsa. It took less than three minutes after ordering for the tacos to be placed in front of me. I tried the red and green sauces on the tacos individually and together - although differing in flavor, each choice was equally delicious. I will definitely be back!
Walk on by. Service is eh. French fries and fried chicken are eh. Soda is flat. No utensils or napkin. Ugh. I ate the food sense it already ordered and didn t have much time and now I feel sick to my stomach.
Some of the best food in this airport and a place I go when I have an hour+ between flights.
I had their good nachos recently, and a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was as good as I could expect in an airport. The seating was not especially wheelchair friendly, but I made do.
My server, Elissa Cupp, was genuinely friendly, as well as efficient.
I highly recommend trying this place.
Breakfast taco special chorizo were awesome. Wait staff was on point.
They need to remember that they're in the service industry. Seem like a very unhappy staff, no smile's and a terrible attitude. The shrimp on the shrimp and grits was decent and the grits were cold.
I won't be back and I'd recommend that you don't visit if you like a smile and customer service!
