Give them all the paperwork they request, send letter stating income was not earned for a specific month they requested because I was not working at that time. Denied application stating I failed to submit this information to them and denied receiving the letter all though fax confirmation stated they received all seven pages. At this rate (now closing in on a year of my kid having no coverage) they are again requesting income verification. At this point do I drive up to Richmond and do their jobs for them? Honestly, these people a living monument to ineptitude and laziness.

Overall, I hate to give this office 1 star because I have NEVER experienced such rudeness, neglect and animosity from a government funded office in Hanover in all of the 25 years I ve lived here. Mrs. Boxley is the most rude and unprofessional person I ve ever associated with at this office. The customer service was so insanely bad I had to take the time to write this review to publicize the mistreatment of people receiving benefits from Hanover through her. For one, she yelled me at me all throughout my interview as if she was the one expecting benefits from me. I m confused, angry and I want justice.

Is there another #? I ve been calling for a week straight the minute they open and they NEVER answer the phone NOR do they return messages!

They don't answer there phone and they don't call you back

Never return messages, when they send out correspondences they mail them days after the date prepared . You receive it 6 days after mailing and they request you respond in two days after it was mailed with all the paper work needed for your case. IMMPOSSIBLE!!

Anyone work here......I emial them two months went by NO RESPONE. Now I called and they put me on hold for over an hour now.

Honestly speaking from my experience when calling, they have been professional and helpful in asking questions and double checking information for me when asked.

My only issue (in my case) is when filing cases and having to send documentation to them, if you do not have the needed documents immediately to upload to their system, there seems to be no way to upload it digitally and you must do so either by mail or fax which in time sensitive cases can be very annoying. However they have been very nice in working with me through this process.

Why is there no email address for the Commissioner of Social Services?

I am only giving one star because I can't give zero! Does anyone actually work at the Richmond apartment of social services? No one ever answers the phone. No one ever returns a phone call. Showing up in person doesn't help either no one is available to help anyone! The city of Richmond should be truly ashamed of this!

you can call them to try and report the abuse but they never check into it ....so it seems....this agency is failing a lot of kids.....how is it that the father brings the baby back with lumps and bruises and this agency closes the case....and not to mention awards custody by default.!!...this agency needs to be looked into....from the top to the bottom....how is it that one agency deems someone unfit....but the state of Va says it's ok u can have the baby......smh.....w.p...
Shame on C.Campbell...for putting personal feelings into the case instead of common sense........shame on the racist judge..Ashley..that everyone knows is racist but scared of her...smh....Shame on the racist g.a.l Shader....(who didn't even want me to touch his pen to write my name correctly)......wake up and put aside racism and corruption to better serve the needs of the children. ..

I would honestly give them less than this if I could. between the unhelpful staff, one event became nasty with me, and their ways of handling the money are terrible. I have had to wait for MY CHILDREN'S funds constantly as they hold on to it for various reasons. Cant pay bills, get groceries or anything. It has gotten even worse over time. I am ending this service as it is worse then my exhusband paying it straight out. Stay very far away from this service!!!!

Referred to the state because my locality is not communicating with me at. Hour+ wait times, no returning of voicemails. What should have taken a phone call or two is taking multiple calls and voicemails a day on my part. My son's medical care was canceled thanks to the DSS' s fantastic customer service. We're also back on a waiting list to begin his services again, whenever a social worker (even the ones that aren't licensed call themselves one) decides to do their job with any ounce of efficiency. I cannot fathom the difficulty in returning calls or answering them to begin with.

Edit*** 5 months. 5 months for them to get some paperwork handled. And this is after I threatened legal action. Petersburg DSS tried to blame me for the issues. However, the doctor's office has tokd me several times that the social workers are notoriously horrible at processing paperwork in a timely manner, without someone staying up their butts about getting it done.

Total Incompetence at my local VDSS (Prince William County) so far...will report back after I write my congressman/woman.

I am a disabled homeless Vet that can not receive help from the VAMC and I do not qualify for Medicaid for medical help. I have been paying into it my whole life. Now when I need it, they claim that I m not a disabled citizen.

Just called and spoke with a very nasty lady. I didnt catch her name but no one should be treated less than humane. Recommending customer service relation classes.

They don't really help when a family is in a homeless situation. They expect for you to jump through hoops and they act like the money that is used is coming straight from their pockets but it's not

My Son's Medicaid got canceled in November I was told by My Social Worker that his Medicaid was going to back active on December 15th by the end of the day well needless to say My Son has Asthma and has medication that he does take I have called My Social Worker numerous and no call back I am about to go over there head and take this a step whether because my Son's health is not to be played with this is all kinds of wrong

If I could it would be a zero, called 3 weeks ago and got a called back 2 days ago... not very reliable!!!

In the past the workers all so nice and helpful and the social worker I've had in the past have always listen and were very understanding when i was crying

I've been on hold for 1:13mins. The call has not even been answered. This is the wait time to get a human in the phone which will, no doubt result in a "hi, thank you for calling today. My name is _______. How can I help you? -----
Ok, please hold." And then being on hold for another hour? WTH?!?!? I need help and can't get to an office without serious difficulty. My health won't allow it. I'm at my wits end.
