Preying on Seniors?

Preying on Seniors?
The Seton Health services group continues to be a maze of inefficiency and chaos. On one hand, when I called to complain about double billing from them and from St Peters Health Partners, they said they weren t the same entity. But when I google Seton, I see St Peters at the bottom of the page. In any case, I continue to have problems with both. I receive a bill from Seton saying I owe money. That same day, within hours of receiving that first bill, I make payment electronically. They wait 3 full months and then send a threatening Final Notice bill for the same amount. I can t help but wonder if these constant mistakes are an attempt to get elderly folks to forget they already paid. Since I am especially organized, I am now able to find all the correspondence from the date of service - now 6 months ago - even though it takes a lot of time, and verify that I paid it. And then I need to spend a great deal more time making copies of payment verification. For one case, they repeatedly said that my faxed transmissions weren t clear enough, causing me to spend many hours re-scanning and re-sending perfectly clear copies. What will happen in a few years, when I m in my 70 s and 80 s? How often will I have to pay the same bills because I m unable to do this?
And the recent bill with the letterhead from St Peters Health Partners was another mistake. I receive a bill saying pay this amount as a copay when I know for a fact that the service is covered in full by my health coverage. I check with my insurance, who say they paid it in it entirety. I then call the billing number and they finally say - Oh, just disregard this. Great. For each of these steps I am placed on hold, listening to awful music and wasting tons of time.
I understand that mistakes can be made, but as a senior, about 90% of my contacts with any medical attention whatsoever cause me untold hours of phone time and are billed more than once. Is this the general average for people of all ages? If so, how do busy younger working parents deal with it? Or do they just keep paying the same bills over and over ..

I worked for northeast health for two years. They merged with st Peter's trinity health care. I worked for the eddy heritage house and eddy Hawthorne ridge. The workers care for the residents. The cooperation of trinity and st Peter's only care about the bottom line. Its disgusting

The Patient Relations dept. is extremely unprofess...

The Patient Relations dept. is extremely unprofessional. I contacted Patient Relations to follow up about a grievance letter I mailed detailing a negative experience that I had in St Peters Breast Center on 6.10.20. The only 2 people that work in Patient Relations named Megan and Heather are unprofessional and don't know how to communicate. When I wanted to report their lack of professionalism and the lack of communication to a manager, Megan informed me that there is no actual manager in this office that you can speak to directly. You have to leave your phone number and hope that you'll receive a phone call. That is a very unorganized manner of conducting business. Heather called me 6.15.20 to confirm receipt of my grievance letter. She claimed that my concerns were forwarded to the Breast Center Director. I requested a letter or some document to confirm that my concerns were addressed and I had already said this to Heather. She tells me, "Well, the Breast Center Director was made aware of your concerns. What else would you like us to do?" I had already told Heather that I was requesting a letter to confirm that someone had addressed my concerns since the Breast Center Director hadn't actually contacted me. I repeated to her that I would like a letter sent to me verifying that my concerns were actually addressed. Heather eventually tells me a letter was sent and I should receive it soon. I still haven't received any letter from this department. I called back 6/26 to follow up about not receiving the letter. Someone named Megan confirmed on 6.26.20 that Heather actually mailed my letter to the wrong address and she never confirmed my mailing address. I hope this department hires more staffing including a manager because it is unorganized and unprofessional to have an office that monitors patient grievances with only 2 people that are not managers. I was contacted by someone named Tushar Somani and it was pointless for me to speak to this individual. He does not work in this office and had no knowledge of the circumstances that occurred in the office with Heather and Megan. He even defended their lack of communication and their lack of professionalism. I'm very disappointed in this department. I've utilized St. Peters medical services for many years and never experienced this type of situation.

THERE WAS A DATA BREACH AT THIS HOSPITAL AND PERSONAL INFORMATION WAS COMPROMISED IN A DATA BREACH. THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!! THIS HOSPITAL HAS YET AGAIN PROVED JUST HOW RECKLESS THEY ARE! THIS HOSPITAL STORES ITS DATA WITH TRINITY HEALTH AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT 25,000 HOSPITALS DATA WAS BREACHED. TRINITY HEALTH PARTNERS IE SAINT PETERS HOSPITAL SHOULD BOTH BE SUED!! THEY CAN T BE TRUSTED AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED!!

I honestly don't know where to begin. Thank goodn...

I honestly don't know where to begin. Thank goodness I had an opportunity to accompany my Father-in-Law today for his cardiologist appointment at the Albany location, but it's unfortunate he's endured this chaos and incompetence for much longer given he has been a patient here for several years. I wholeheartedly empathize with him and now understand his frustrations and confusion. First, his appointment card listed the Troy location and we did not receive a reminder call to confirm prior to his appointment. Therefore, we went to the wrong location. Second, apparently location misconceptions are "common" according to the nurse. Third, these poor patients, most of which are elderly suffering from obviously heart complications amongst other things, have to forego a cumbersome process to check in and check out (they have to go from one floor to another and to another hall, etc.). In any event, it took us at least 30 minutes to check out! And...it took 4 people to figure out how to schedule his 4 week followup appointment. The nail in the coffin for us was when he was directed to go back downstairs for a routine pacemaker check after the whole checkout debacle, which was supposed to take a few more minutes. That particular waiting area has no means or staff to address any questions mind you. Thus, upon waiting almost another 30 minutes, I went across the hall and inquired on a status of the wait time. We were informed that we should have been advised it would take another hour for the checkup, for which we were not. Given my Father-in-Law's health and the fact we'd already been there for nearly 2 hours, he could no longer wait and opted to reschedule to have his pacemaker checked. Ironically, over an hour after we left and upon rescheduling said pacemaker check, they contacted him to see why he wasn't there. In other words, they didn't check their records to see his checkup was rescheduled and had we stayed, we would have been there for almost 4 hours! And this isn't the first complaint my Father-in-Laws had. He had to wait for 3 hours to be seen at his appointment back in July. Obviously, there's an issue with the dynamic of this office. I am hopeful that I can assist in curbing this chaos for him in the future now that my schedule is more flexible. Alternately, I'm hopeful he'll consider another specialist. Reading some of the other reviews, sounds like we're not alone in our concerns. This is inexcusable!

Never had a poor experience, always took care of me (at the Capital Region Family Health Care clinic). Had an issue with their 3rd party billing agent and the SPHP customer service rep was prompt, professional, and helpful.

Terrible service and poor health care. My 93yo Mom was transferred to St. Peter's health partner facility and lost Medicare benefits when they gave her defective oxygen concentrator, actually 2 of them in a row. She was on 4 liters of oxygen and given 6 months to live. She eventually got out and is in Assisted Living without the need for oxygen. They should be shut down for substandard quality of care. Stay away from St. Peter's!

BASED ON THE CARE AT SAUGERTIES WELLNESS CENTER I GIVE ST PETERS A ZERO. DR RAMASWAMI IS TOTALLY INEPT. I WENT IN FOR A SERIOUS HACKING COUGH AND THIS SO CALLED DOCTOR DIDN'T EVEN LISTEN TO MY CHEST. HE WALKED OUT WITH AN INANE GRIN ON HIS FACE. I HAD TO RUN AFTER HIM AND TELL HIM TO COME BACK AND LISTEN TO MY LUNGS. DUH.

THEN THERE PA MARIE DE LA PARTE...A TOTAL LIAR. SHE CLAIMED THAT SHE NEVER ORDERED A TEST FOR ME SO THAT SHE WOULDN'T START DOING IT. I FOUND THE TEST ORDERED BY HER AND SHE HAD THE RESULTS BUT DENIED EVER GIVING ME THE TEST. SHE SEEMS TO HAVE COMMUNICATION AND RESPECT ISSUES. DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER BUT SHE'S NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

NO RESPONSE FROM ST PETERS REGARDING MY CONCERNS.

DEATH BY DOCTOR AT SAUGERTIES "WELLNESS" CENTER...MORE LIKE UN-WELLNESS.

Re: Employment with SPHP. In 2015, SPHP unexpect...

Re: Employment with SPHP. In 2015, SPHP unexpectedly announced they would be outsourcing their transcription department to a company called Nuance. While HR promised to try to secure jobs for all the displaced employees who did not wish to leave SPHP, they FAILED to keep their promise, except at the management level. Some of the employees who were outsourced had been employed with SPHP for over 20 years! I know this ultimately comes from Trinity Health who directs the course of St. Peter's, and so I do not necessarily fault the hospital, except to say that if HR promised something, they should at least try to keep their word. I only give one star, which is only there because without at least one star I could not publish this post.

Thoracotomy and beyond, There is no better place for quality patient care. If it wasn't for the amazing healthcare I received at and through ST.Peters health partners I wouldn't be writing this review , I'd be dead! I was working twelve hour day in the harsh weather in February 2015 when I felt a gurgling in my back and chest. However when I started physically shaking it was time to goto the hospital. The Emergency Department was right on the ball. My fever 103.9+ and I had no idea that I had full blown pneumonia killing my left lower lobe of my lungs. That's when I met a catalysts of humanity ,the thourastic team headed by DR.Dennis J.Rassis and NP John Morgan. Talk about complete master's of their craft. Dr.Rassis was not only genius in his diagnosis and surgical skills but also treated myself and my family knowing of the possibility of a grim outcome, with pure love and respect. That's rare with a lot of surgery specialist. NP John Morgan as well demonstrated and executed exceptional patient care. After the Surgery I was referred to the office of
Dr.Jose M.David and Dr.Y.Mesut Dincer. Both of these Doctors are excellent and I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone who is in need of a General Practitioner. Their office is wonderful , efficient and extremely accommodating to time and patients needs.
I recently had two other medical issues, one was quickly resolved by Dr.Cheaney ,and the other was something that could have very well been a cancerous tumor. This brings me to another amazing Doctor,Surgeon, and Human being,Dr.Stuart Rosenberg. This man has given his life to Urologic study and mastery. I was scared to death having no idea what I had going on and Dr.Rosenberg actualy sat with me at a table consultation and not some small room just to "look and run out" . Then he graciously lead me to the exam room. After the examination (and nothing to worry about) Dr.Rosenberg sat and did a second consultation at the table addressing other problems I was having.
I am constantly blown away by the exceptional care I receive and received from all of ST.Peters in Albany and their helth professionals.
My experiences with them has made me decide to not only write these reviews but also go into healthcare myself.
In closing I would like to say THANK YOU !!! To all mentioned and those not mentioned that strive everyday with Professionalism, empathy, and amazing patient care.
Sincerely,
Joseph B.Arnao
