An italian fusion resturant with one of the best drinks and italian food ...for some reason I noticed that there re a lot of italian resturants and coffee shops in Boston. #3fairbanks was my drink and I loved it. The service was really good, we had a reservation and they were a little late and they ended up giving us drinks for free. I got the beef angeloti ( not so sure of the spelling) but it was amazing. Make sure you get the marinated olives there.

We had my daughters wedding at SRV this week and I can't say enough about how perfect it was! Deidre managed all the details with efficiency and accommodated our special requests effortlessly. The staff (Nate and I'm annoyed I didn't get one of the outstanding female's names) were AMAZING, catering to our every need. We had passed appetizers on the upper patio, meatballs, flat bread, eggplant finger sandwiches, and arancini all delicious! The food kept coming once dinner started and all was fabulous. We chose to have Meghan, their pastry chef, do the cake and it was fabulous, and gorgeous. We couldn't have hoped for a more perfect night. The ceremony was at 5:30, and as the sun set the twinkle lights and space heaters created a lovely ambiance. Thank you SRV, especially Deidre for making my daughter and son-in-laws wedding a night we'll never forget! Four days later, I'm still smiling. If you're considering SRV, go for it!
Waitress was very sweet and patient with us. The food was amazing, a few dishes we didn't care for, but the waitress said the chef was looking for feedback since they were new to the menu. The ambiance was upscale and polished, but the music playing (hip-hop) really added a nice trendy, cool vibe. The menu is definitely on the pricier side, but worth a visit for a special occasion. Overall, I would recommend anyone to come here for a solid food experience.
Snack food-wise (Cicchetti) we got the Quail Eggs with anchovies - truly delicious, did not taste eggy or fishy; very well-balanced. The meatballs were absolutely amazing - tasted like high quality hamburger meat without the grill char, it was fragile and had a melt in your mouth texture. The tomato sauce it came in was delicious - we asked for bread and soaked up the rest of it. The baked scallops in garlic, caper, butter sauce was also very well done. I loved the texture and flavors.
For the medium-sized plates (Piatti), we got the artichoke dish with fava beans. This dish was a nice break between the heavier items. I don't think I've ever had artichoke raw before, but it was not bad. We also got the Skate Wing dish - this was the dish we did not like at all. Super fishy, didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Never had cooked uni before, but it just didn't vibe with my partner and I. This was a new dish to the menu, but I wouldn't recommend it.
From the pasta menu (Grani), we ordered the Tonnarelli without the shrimp due to an allergy. The dish was good, but maybe I didn't care for it as much because I've had very similar dishes to this one in the past many times. We also got the Clam Risotto which really blew us away with its flavor profiles and creamy tastyness. Highly recommend this dish. I thought I didn't like fennel, but the fermented fennel really brought a new dimension to risotto.
For desert (I don't even know how we got this far and was still hungry ha!), we ordered the Sfogliatelle which my partner really loved and I got the Persimmon gelato. My partner said the gelato didn't really taste like a persimmon, but I have not tried one before so I wasn't aware. I still liked it though.
Overall, this restaurant met my high expectations, and was glad to try it knowing that it would be a pricey meal. Love the vibe here too - I didn't feel out of my comfort knowing it was an upscale, trendy place while I'm just a late-20s, laidback female who loves good food and wine. The music really helped with the chill ambiance.
Went for New Year s Eve and ended up spending over $300 for dinner and wine pairings. Portions were disgustingly small still had hunger pains when I left. Also they started blasting music at 10:30pm for their New Year s Party such that I couldn t hear my date talk to me across the table. Quite simply the worst culinary experience I ve had in my life absolutely not worth going.
This may be the best restaurant in Boston. The dishes are outstanding : taste combinations and preparation are superior. These reflect creativity rarely experienced in Boston. The wine list is not long. It doesn't have to be since both whites and reds are well fitted to a menu given thoughtful working. The service is excellent with knowledgeable staff who manage to keep the dining experience for the dinners a pleasure.
This is without question the best restaurant I ve ever been to in Boston. Every detail has been thought out. The atmosphere is somewhat upscale but not pretentious, and every bite of food seems like a gift. Their menu items are creative, with combinations that aren t immediately obvious, and always open my eyes to something new and delicious. They also take food allergies very seriously and you can be sure when you dine there that you will never be served anything that would be harmful for you. It is truly a stress-free dining experience. It is a bit pricey, but for the quality of food you re getting, combined with the excellent service from the staff, it is worth every penny.
Went in for drinks with friends, while waiting for a reservation. After 45 minutes, we never received our drinks, and had to cancel the order. Would have rated one star, but our waiter was very nice about it. I've heard good things about this place though, so maybe I'll try it again when I have a few hours to spare.
Awful cuisine. Maybe it is an issue with our cook because others loved the place. Terrible option for $45 to try several meals because you don't get to choose and restaurant services the cheapest meals for that option. Staff is perfect, they really help and empathize. The drinks are superb by quality and how they are served.
Exquisites, that s what their meals are called. Subliminal me and I spied, subtle and nuanced. The vinegar soaked leaf in the dashi was like poetry using a naughty word. Their duck ragout embarrasses traditional Italian places as unimaginative. Their tasting menu was an opulence. I felt gluttonous of soul.
Knew this place was going to be good, probably even excellent, since their owned by the same folks that own the legendary Salty Pig, also in the South End. But I didn't think it would be quite this good! Perfect execution of the northern Italian tradition of 'ciccheti', small inexpensive plates of wildly creative dishes like salt cod on squid ink crostini, or the addictive crab and asparagus with rhubarb. Each plate ranges from $2 to $4 but you order quite a lot of them. Just like other reviewers have said, the space is very beautiful inside, with nicely controlled acoustics permitting easy conversation even on a busy Thursday night. Be sure and try one of the special risottos but be aware they take at least 25 minutes since they're made fresh.
We had our wedding here October 2017, and Caroline and her team were so helpful and respectful. It was a great evening and the stress reducing luxury of having them seamlessly take care of everything was worth it! Would get married here again!....wait, that came out wrong....
Service was impeccable. Table had the Arsenale dinner- wonderful selection and more than enough to eat and share. Even though the table was to receive all the same food, they swapped out a menu item for me for dietary reasons.
One of the very best in Boston! Everything is made in house. The pasta is unique and flavorful. The seafood dishes are perfect. After your pasta, save room for the gelato. The menu is always changing. Our fav!
Fantastic!!! From the atmosphere, to the service, to the food, everything was amazing. My husband and I ordered the Arsenale option on the menu and I would highly recommend it. It was so fun waiting to see what the next delicious bite of food was coming out next and made dinner feel like a fun adventure. I can't say enough about the service, as well. Our server was attentive without being pushy and even went as far as to fold my husbands napkin when he stepped away from the table for a few minutes. Again, fantastic all around and I would highly recommend.
Amazing. Well thought out menu, creative combinations of flavors, some very unexpected yet delightful. Attentive and helpful staff. Reservations required. Full bar. Go!
Absolutely stunning! We spent a spectacular evening at SRV and had 10-course tasting menu called the Arsenale Menu including 2 pasta dishes and 1 dessert dish. When one wants to order the tasting menu, all of the party needs to have the same because they state it is a shared experience. I really liked the duck breast, beet infused cod, beef with homemade pasta and chestnut stuffed ravaoli. The appetizers were also fantastic. From the appetizers, my favorite was puff pastry with apples with lemon sauce. There was one pasta dish that we didn't like after tasting it; the waiters arrenged another pasta dish for us! How amazing is that! They care about customer satisfaction. The staff were very friendly, king and professional. I would definetely want to come back here. For those of who will dine for the first time, try the tasting menu which is $48 per person! It is basically a steal because it tastes sooo good and you fill up after 10 courses! Note: They have patio and dine in options and the restrooms were clean.
Perfect addition to the South End foodie scene. Casual, effortless, elegant chic. Favorites are tajarin pasta with truffles, quail eggs, and the gelato! Street side open eating bar, outdoor patio, indoor eating bar and tables. Cocktails are great! Reasonably priced. Long Live the Serene Republic of Venice - SRV - and welcome to the South End.
Upscale Italian that's not crazy expensive. Well-made food and good service; nice bar and a great wine list. Can be a bit noisy when it's busy. Nice staff.
Fine location for delicious italian food. I like it here always quality food & service. I will be bringing friends next time. This place has a cool design.
Wrong on reservation and waited over an hour where the restaurant tried to compensate serving drinks and starters ... Even with the inconvenience I would go back because the food is excellent.
SRV was highly recommend by local friends. We had an amazing dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu which was more food than I should have eaten. I couldn t stop because the combination flavors and textures were amazing. I plan on returning next time I m in Boston.
Outstanding dinner. We had the Arsenale. All the dishes were very interesting and more than enough for each person. The only unfortunate circumstance was that they don't accept Discover.
I have been multiple times and ALWAYS have a phenomenal experience! The food is delicious and eclectic (cocktails too). Service is always top notch. The staff is not only well trained/informed but also super friendly. No matter if you're dining alone at the bar, or in a large group- SRV is consistently TOP NOTCH!
A fine Italian restaurant but probably a little expensive for what you are served. Far from the good Italian restaurants of Montreal. Despite everything the food was not bad, a small range of choices, small dishes (but heavy). I was able to have a good microbrewery beer and my girlfriend a nice cocktail. The atmosphere is nice, clean but big enough that reminds me of American restaurant chains. A must for pasta lovers, but I'm not really one.
The more you know about food, the less you will appreciate this place. We tasted a wide cross-section of dishes; every plate was ill-conceived and poorly executed.
The sommelier spoke about the wine using all the right vocabulary, but the wine itself did not match his descriptions. (They kindly changed out our first bottle, which was undrinkable; even the second was not good, and not worth the $70.)
Another example of the generally low level of western let no one for a minute think this restaurant has anything to do with Italy cuisine in this town. Really too bad.
We used SRV as a venue for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner and we couldn't have picked a better place! Decor is very cool, food was amazing and the service - impeccable (ask for Daniel)! Carrie, the event planner was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was a beautiful affair and I'm so grateful to SRV's staff!
One of the most AmAzing dining experiences EVER! Everything we had was impeccably prepared and presented flawlessly! The staff were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu options. Very relaxed yet efficient.
My favorite restaurant in the South End. Very quickly becoming a neighborhood staple. Full menu available at the bar and outdoor seating on a private courtyard deck in the summer. Solid wine selection and great drinks.
