Spot Freight, Inc Review

Dear Truckers, do not haul loads for these guys, they don t care about us, they care about and only about profit. They don t respect us, they will call you 50 times while you sleep, even if you let them track you trough their app. If you wait, and I know bunch of Drvires that did wait on a pickup or delivery, they won t pay you. If your load is canceled, they won t let you know, and their employees I ve been in contact, they will treat you like their slave. WE HAVE TO MAKE THEM TO RESPECT US, ALL OF THEM BROKERS.

I've had a good working relationship with the people here. The rate are a little cheaper than I care for but the free quickpay helps take the bite out of the deficit. They have a decent amount of freight nationwide but especially in the midwest where I prefer to run.

As it turns out the accessories department will use any excuse possible to keep from paying you. Then they expect the broker agent to get into their own pocket to keep the carrier happy. I like my agent, he's a good guy, but me being Mr Nice Guy got me bent over!

If I can put zero stars a I would, this is the worst broker to work with, never has an appt for delivery or pick up, never pays detention, they dont care about you, they will just use you when they need you and thats it. It happen to 5 drivers 5 different loads and had problem with all 5 loads. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!! THE WORST!!!!

This is not a company it's piece of junk full of crooked people.
Greg promise me layover on Sunday that he will send me 2 days lay over once he gets to the office it's been 4 days and haven't got anything try to reach supervisor no answer.
I emailed Mitchell the person I booked the load with no reply.
Jermy told me he will call me back in 1 hr and it's been a day now and no calls.
Simple if they owe you detention or lay over do not deliver till you get it new rate confirmation.

They lied about appointment time. They said they would pay layover. After unload they said we never said that. A shyster company stay far away!

Good company. Grant kept his word not to shift my usual rate when things change. That's ok wt me with ongoing Covid,where rates are being cut to half or less. Just asking Spot to eliminate early morning calls on their Carriers and to set the tracking App so it runs smoothly on the background without frequent [ whole day ] emails and texts requesting login and location. Other than that thanks guys.

We work with spot on a daily bases with Steven Serpe. Even though he gives us headaches sometimes, He is a great guy to work with. Always a positive attitude no matter the situation. Misunderstanding happens sometimes, but it happens to everyone. Great experience working with Steven and Spot, Definitely recommend booking freight with them!

Their accessorial team and brokers are insane. Wouldn t get detention approved for 20 days and just keep telling you the same thing we re on it After finally contacting their management got only $25 an hour for 8 hours of unloading.

Amazing office space, majority of staff I had pleasure of speaking with were delightful... BUT Human Resource Director had to be one of the most disrespectful human beings. Time is the most valuable thing we have and he was falling asleep during our conversation. I encourage he receive proper training in communication and urge him to simply cancel meetings when he has not had enough rest the night before. My mind is astounded that he had qualifications to hold the position he was in. Excuse my language, but the fact they have such an arrogant dic* overseeing Human Resources makes me question the companies standards and values.

My company is Commonwealth Logistics and I am an owner-operator that has booked freight with Vickie Nguyen and the SPOT Freight Group for close to a year now and look forward to more business in the future. They deserve 5 STARS ***** for always working with us to find freight that fits our lanes that make the loads more economical and profitable for our small business. They have offered us a dedicated daily lane that has made all the difference in the world with the growth of our business so much that my wife has went and got a CDL to haul more of their freight in the future and grow our company to a new level and plan on buying a second truck sometime soon.
There have been times when everything that could go wrong did go wrong on our end because let's face it in the trucking business that is a given fact and you never know when it could happen. They have always been professional and respectful when we had to be taken off a load for some reason beyond our control and still call us back if they have the same load in the future and always send us an email checking to see if we have availability for other lanes too. Their logistics team are available 24/7 which means a lot in the trucking business when you are trying to get customer problems solved when you are delivering freight to customers all hours of the day and night.
If you are looking for a broker that treats you honest, fair and with respect call SPOT Freight Group and they will work with you to help you find freight that fits your needs and in the process make more money, more home time, less miles, less time looking on load boards. They ended up giving us a dedicated lane Monday through Friday so all I had to do was find a backhaul back to my home terminal which worked out great because no more over the road sleeping in truck and having to live in truck stops, which is what we were doing prior to booking loads with SPOT.
I can't say enough about how good they have treated us and like I said before we hope to do much more business with Vickie Nguyen, Jacob, Matt, Yohan, Erin and the list is entirely too long to list all of the logistics personnel that you have at hand when you book freight with Spot. You get the entire SPOT Freight Group as a team and they have become a part of our company family, or that is the way we feel about the relationship we have built with them. The opportunity they have given us is tremendous and can t wait to see what the future holds for my business. Give them a call you won t be sorry and let them know where and what you want and discuss what kind of freight options they can come up for you. 5***** STARS and then some is how I rate their business and the employees you will have on hand to help you with booking their freight will be astounding!!! Great company to work with but few bad apples ruining the name. Matt Medland insulted me on the phone when I am in the process of booking a load with him. I said I can t take the load because I have some self respect, then he threatens me that he will blacklist my company and I won t be able to get a load from them.

We haul a lot of freight for this group. They are top notch. I will always does business with Spot freight. They are available to take care of any situation that arises. Also wanted to give a shout out to Charles Cook and Austin Williams. These guys are awesome I deal with theses guys on a daily bases.

They book loads that don t even exist. Drove 200 miles empty to hear that they made a mistake and they don t have this load. Wasted 1 day, ended up without work, burned my hours of service and paid for the truck, trailer, fuel etc out of my pocket.

Not happy with these guys. They will tell you that your appointment is 12/21 at 8am but in all actuality it s not until 12/22 at 9pm. Then they won t pay you layover..and got those who don t get paid from the loaf you doing for them.. you do know that you can put a lien on the property meaning you can go in a take everything until your paid.. you mf need to learn

I have dealt with Spot for several months now. After an initial period of deciphering the different websites, apps, tracking software and method of requesting detention it has been smooth sailing. I have dealt primarily with Taylor who has been top notch the whole way. As was Matt before her. The rates have been competitive and they even offer free quickpay for all small carriers as long as you pull at least 5 loads a month. Definitely a nice touch. I look forward to keeping up the strong relationship going forward.

I had a complaint with detention but our records indicate that detention was received by Spot. However, Mr. Lang is not very responsive. Thanks to the Spot management team!

I like to work with Spot! Responsive, professional with great work ethic. Especially want to mention Matt Dugan in the Charlotte office. Easy to deal with and no issues at all.

Seems very organized and professional, sadly that is not the case. The company protocol is to contact drivers and dispatch on loads where it is not required or unsafe to do so. We hauled a load from Kent WA to Fruitland ID in which the PU was early and the delivery made by 0739 on a 1400 appt. SPOT calls both the driver and myself at 0300 am and 0326 am tracking a load which delivers at 1400. I explained to the manager that is a safety issue, especially waking a driver at 0300 am. He stated shipping is a 24 hr business and stated our philosophies are not in line. Then stated he would note my file to not work with our capacity in the future. So heed my warning SPOT believes driver safety is second to customer tracking. DRIVER SAFETY is not a concern of SPOT and Mr. Adam Salzman.

Per your response - I do not have a concern. The actions of SPOT were without regard for driver safety and it shows the lack of professionalism towards drivers. Look we understand the carriers are the customer but so are the drivers. To my knowledge I do not believe SPOT owns any tractors. So treating both the carriers and drivers equally is critical.

Horrible people to work with... I don t know what customers would trust these people to move their freight. Very unethical company and extremely unprofessional.

Great people to work with! We do daily business with several members of Spot team, I want to personally thank to Mark Buis, Balir McCall, Alex Kleifgen, Bradley Hill, Ben Leitz, Matt Casto, Matt McCormick, TY Robinson and ALL of the SPOT TEAM! You guys are one of the best brokers and PARTNERS that we can ask for! We truly value your personal relationship with us and taking care of our trucks and drivers!

Falsely accuse of stealing freight with a blank BOL. Put in a report on carrier411. Been about 3 months now with no conclusion. They weren't able to provide any paperwork or video. Tried to talk to them to take it down. Nothing has been done. We are still waiting for a claim but insurance state they don't see enough evidence for a claim. Stay away from them. Liars and deceivers. Does not care about the carriers at all.

These guys do not care about their carrier. We got one of our trailers damaged carrying their load, receivers did not know how to operate a forklift, when we requested for compensation with significant proof of the damage being done while on their load, we were called 'unprofessional'.
If they cared for their carriers, they would have at least attempted to get a line of communication established between us and the facility, that did not happen.
They often do not get appointment times right either, and apparently if you ask staff at the warehouses what is going on, you will get blamed for being unprofessional.
Overall, as other reviewers have mentioned. Spot is not organized or professional. They will screw you and your equipment over.
They seem to be unorganized, and unprofessional throwing blame at carriers before trying to understand or listen to the carrier. They failed to establish a line of communication between us and the facility in order to discuss the damages in a timely manner, as they should have done per our conversation with Brian Smith.

No carrier or driver deserves to be questioned on their professionalism, especially when they've wasted a day because Spot cannot figure out appointments, and when your equipment gets ruined.

Update: Brian Smith from Spot freight did call us to discuss what happened on this load. He was respectful in our dialogue and was understanding. He did make sure our detention got paid on this load. However it's unfortunate that the brokers, the ones that book loads are not like him respectful and understanding.

We booked a load with Matt McCkormick . We drove 140 miles deadhead to find out that the shipper is closed and will re open in couple of days . We are trying to reach the broker on any possible way but impossible.He is getting our messages but ignoring us

OK so we book a load and went to to pick up Load S318617
spot want the carrier to do there job we could not get them to cal the shipper nothing. Austin Kaiser was the broker and no one could get him on the phone he only answer one email say he let me know what was going on after a hour going my called back in to the after hours and they try calling Austin Kaiser to find out what was going on and he could not even answer his own after hours to help. yes it was Austin account he had not left any phone number for after hour to call. My driver finally got someone at Tyson to talk to him just to let us know that no one from Spot had called and the load was 813 case short they gave us a phone number for spot after hours to call. once i gave that number to after hours they called Tyson. Tyson told us that if spot the (broker) had called when we first asked for help they would have know that the load was short the 813 case but again no one from spot called. so the load get cancelled yes the offer a TONU from the after hours they said just get with Austin. in the morning I get a email finally from Austin asking if we picked the load up??
Austin didn't even look at the emails i sent if he did he would have seen there was no load to pick up. Once i lt him know by email because he would not answer the phone he told be i had to go to Spot web site to fill out a request for a TONU so i did and find out am doing the rest of ther job filling everything out and sending the rate con so we can wait 4-5 days for a TONU i will never use spot freight again

Lana from their sales team is unprofessional and rude! I would never use this company if I HAD TOO. I took the time to take her call and she hung up on me when i couldn't use the service - ridicluous!

Bad company . Broker lied about appointment time and after 11 hours detention pay $50... shamed of you. Company s like this one should be closed down!

Burned me for almost a grand. Whatever they tell you over the phone, GET IT IN WRITING! Broker made promises and said he was going to take care of extra services. They denied everything when load invoiced.

Working with them for a while, people are nice and professional especially John Perdikaris!

We had one of there carriers drop freight at our location, left without dropping all of it. I called Spot Freight, they said they would get a hold of the driver and turn him around. Well, surprise, the driver never showed up with the rest of our freight. I called back to sit on hold for 20 minutes, just to be sent to someone's voicemail.

This company uses carrier 411 to heal their frustrations and carriers around please take care.Also since today 10 of IL based carriers will stop working with them.

They are scammers, 98 day past by and I still did not get paid.

I had over last few months quite a few loads with them. Total over 80 hours in detention over LAST 10 loads. So about 8 hours average. Not one single hour was paid to us. They are using different departments to request detention, and I did everything correctly to the T. They are not paying detention period. We do not recommend working with them and they are on our " DO NOT WORK LIST ".

If I could give them zero stars I would. Matt Medland and Theo Mascari are horrible to work with, very rude, and unprofessional. They have a 2.7 rating for a reason. They are worse than TQL!! Stay away!!

Spot essentially STOLE thousands of dollars from my company via several unpaid invoices. I had to file a claim on their bond to get it back. We even had everything in writing and they still didn't pay! Luckily, we had their agreements to our terms in an old email that we used for the bond company to pay us. If it weren't for that, we would probably be out of business right now. These guys are 1000 percent bottom feeding thieves!

Quick & easy loads. Always fair pricing when looking for backhauls back to IL/WI. Great communication. Very professional and will try to use them more and more in the future

I booked load with Theo Mascari he said I need to update my contract that I did and send them my insurance certificate and I was 50 mile away from pick up and he said load is good you can go to shipper after 2 hours he said he is not able to setup you and find other load and I didn t get any tonu and I also lost my other load think twice before work with them

Book a load with Gregory Land he lied about the delivery time. 4th load in a row where brokers from Spot lie about delivery time. He was not helpful and totally unprofessional i will never ever work with this guy again!!! Respond to OWNER Load#S234289. they pay us 150$ for layover for loosing 2 days. I email gregory about it he told me there is nothing he can do about it.

Beware this broker, they are liars. I got a load from them from West Chicago, IL to Brighton, MI. NNorman told me couple times there is no appointment, after arriving at 10.00am at check in woman at desk told me appt is 3pm. I called NNorman, she told appt is at noon, when I said "no, appt is 3 pm, and besides that yesterday you told there is no appt" she stop using the phone and contact was only by email. I don't want work with brokers like they are so I don't take any load from them, newer again

terrible people to work with, we delivery load of berry's for them and the receiver write on the BOL that 2 small cases were damaged even thought they take it and our trailer was completely empty, after 3 month of holding the load payment we find out they charge us $670.0 for 2 cases of berry's that you can buy for $20.0, they wasn't taking our calls and they didn't communicate with us, they just charge what ever they want, I will never work again with those people

I do tons of business with Spot and they always take care of me. They have more than fair rates and Matt McCormick, Blair and Alex K are top notch brokers who truly know what customer service and carrier relations are all about. Thanks Guys!

Be careful booking with this broker and please read the fine print on their rate confirmations. They won't hesitate to deduct from carriers for their or their shipper's mistakes. We delivered a load for this company in 2018 and have not since worked with them. Without any notification, they did not pay us for the load. When we called for payment status, they claimed that our driver left a couple of pallets behind. Truth is, they did not have the freight ready and our driver triple checked with the shipper to make sure he was good to go. Their google ratings paint a pretty good picture about their culture.

We book a load with Ryan Kinnaird and Cole and after 20 minutes they try to cancel the load and sold to somebody else for less money. We was having a driver there at the pick up already getting loaded. They was telling us that the load is canceled by the customer. They are a BIG liars. Do not work with this guys!!!
