The food here is incredible. Not only do you have the really good regular plates, but every special that I've ever had, you can really feel the flavors come together. Experiencing the unique combinations and simple pleasure that I find to be Spicy Green's hallmark. If you haven't been please do check them out

Our first time in the new location. It has cute decor, lots of room. We shared the Alice in Shroomland, The Lob Couple, and the Schrute Farms, but we had to pack the latter to go we were so full from the first 2! Every item is fresh and sooo delicious and our server, Zack, was a lot of fun (he's also a "The Office" fan)! We were disappointed that our favorite item, Duck Rings, is no longer on the menu, but the Dirty Waffle Poutine was a good (but not perfect) sub. We'll keep asking for the Duck Rings until they bring them back! This is probably our favorite in town restaurant and we def will return!

Love the food, but goodness they re slow. Even pre-pandemic all I remember is waiting. The food definitely makes me want to come back, but sitting in the parking lot for 30+ min because they can t give a reasonable estimate of the wait when I call in a to-go order is frustrating.

We want to like this place, but every time we go we are disappointed. We waited nearly a half hour outside for a table- despite three vacant tables waiting (several other couples waited as well- one with a baby). The food is decent, but not spectacular. You will wait at least an hour for it to cook- whether you order an egg sandwich or eggs benedict. EVERYTHING here also contains pork- even their potatoes are cooked in bacon grease. It's not vegetarian or allergy friendly by any means. And special requests- such as cooking your eggs thoroughly, or making your meal without ham- will not be honored the first time around.

While we want to support a local place with local spirit, this place is just too disorganized. At least the staff kindly takes mistakes off your bill or doesn't charge for your coffee to try to make up for it.

Spicy Green Bean feels slightly less warm in its new location but the quality has, if anything, improved from what was already great.

Whatever you choose to get, try out the tomato Basil bisque with the grilled cheese croutons. It is a panacea for winter.

Don't be fooled, the breakfast here involves neither spice or green beans. It does, however, offer excellent rotating specials, uncomfortably large omeletes and a Mucha-inspired art deco decor. The wait is well worth the brunch, however, it's always felt understaffed. It looks like only two servers were avaliable for the entire restaurant. I guess good things come to those who (have no choice but) wait.

We're planning on going back to try again but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for us. First, they were pretty busy and we ended up waiting close to an hour for the food. I ordered a steak that was described on the menu as 'drizzled' with a hollandaise cheese sauce but arrived COVERED in it. I scraped it all off and got on with it. We also ordered a sweet glazed pork loin which was also smothered. The BBQ sauce was all over the rice that accompanied the pork, not very appetizing. In any case, it just wasn't our night and we're hoping the 2nd time's a charm.

Very yummy and filling brunch. Loved my kielbasa omelette. Service was good and friendly and the food was great. Much of it too, got to bring home a snack for later. Prices were excellent for what I got. Definately going back.

A funky little breakfast and lunch spot. Both management and staff have a good sense of humor as you will immediately determine from their menu. Prices were reasonable and wait staff attentive without being obtrusive.

We've been huge fans of the Spicy Green Bean for years, but our first time eating at the new location was so severely disappointing that I felt like I had to leave a review.

While the old location was cozy and intimate with eclectic decor and art, the new one feels like someone redecorated a TGI Friday's with items from the TJ Maxx sale section. The quirky charm of the old place has been replaced with fake wood walls, fake plants, bright lights, and loud dance music.

We sat at a table made of a large upturned barrel, which meant that we either had to straddle it or sit sideways. Did anyone try sitting at these? They're comically uncomfortable.

The dishes are still interesting and creative, but everything we ate was under-seasoned and our yuca fries (which sound like an awesome idea!) only tasted like the oil they were fried in.

I've never written a restaurant review online, but the new Spicy Green Bean is so dramatically different (read: worse) than what it once was that I felt like I had to. It's strange that they're now branding themselves as an "edgy" eatery, when everything unique or edgy has been stripped away. This used to be our favorite restaurant in Glastonbury, but I doubt we'll be back again.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food was extremely fresh and fulfilling. I can confidently say that this was that best veggie burger I've ever had, and the menu options do not disappoint! The french fries were so crisp and non-oily--I felt refreshed and satisfied after my meal. All of this for a great price accompanied by a beautiful, cozy/modern ambiance!

The Spicy Green Bean is AMAZING!! Great food and even better service. I had the breakfast this morning with my vegetarian girlfriend and everything was made to our liking. We had the eggs & potato breakfast special and we subbed veggies and vegan sausage instead of the pork hash. It was outstanding, I recommend the green bean to everyone!!

Since the location has changed, so has the menu. The delicious kooky konkoction menu that they used to honor is pretty much gone. Their daily soups.... I ve never seen it minus the tomato soup with grilled cheese crotons. I miss their chicken curry salad, popcorn soup and many more items they used to make.

The service is pretty slow despite all the staff working. The acoustics are terrible in the restaurant making it unnecessarily noisy.

The food is EH. The quality and you can definitely taste no love in the food.

The new location is not very warm or welcoming. Trying to be a hipster upscale restaurant with subpar food.

Took a couple of my co-workers here. They were blown away with the creative cocktails which just the right amount of strong and well balanced. It was very busy but our bartender and staff kept us comfortable as well as all the other patrons. We order some apps to start where my co-workers were surprised at how good LJ's Peanut Butter and Jelly wings were. I personally always find each item on the menu creative and something that you are not gonna find anywhere else.

This place is great! One of the only BYOB places I have found in CT. Their breakfast is great and they even have some dishes that include free coffee and a mimosa. And their food is very affordable. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast spots in the Hartford area.

I want to give this place 5 stars for their food. Especially their brunch! But the service can be slow at times. Seating is tight but the ambiance is good. Definitely worth trying though. Still need to try their dinner.

Very interesting menu. I enjoyed my crabmeat Florentine Benedict. Good, bold coffee. However, my wife's omelette was overcooked an not anything like fluffy - over beaten eggs cooked at too high a temp for too long will do that.

One other note I shared with the kitchen: a garnish must be fresh to be effective, and a day-old slice of orange does more damage than just leaving it off of the plate.

Will we come back, again? Hmm? Not unless we happen to be nearby, and hungry. Otherwise? Not likely. The test of a short order cook is, "can you make a fluffy omelette?"

It was my first visit to the Spicy Green Bean, the waiter was ok at first, welcomed me, then ask me if this was my first time. I said yes. I ordered, I'm not sure what happened but it went down hill from then. The waiter basically ignored me the entire meal. After a 15 min wait for my food and watching the people next to me, who arrived after me receive their food, I flagged down the waiter and asked him what was taking so long, his comment was " oh you got to go, you want me to have them pack it to go?" No, I said just was wondering because I was seated before the people next to me first and the ordered the same thing. He said he was going to check on it. Then came back with my food. He set it down and said nothing. I said thank you.
He stopped at my table so far once to check on me. The female waitress was excellent, she waited on people next to me. She refilled their water 7 times, went by to check on them several times. My waiter is still MIA
Oh well. It's funny. I hear my waiter telling the people next to me the specials. Sounds delicious. I never had a choice.
Well I can say I experienced the Spicy Green Bean....... can't say I'll return.... my waiter may need just a little more training... Haven't felt like a fish out of water in a long time. The food was ok, but my experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
Ok, the waiter brings my bill. I give him my credit card. He commits on my picture when he returns. Strikes up a whole conversation. OMG He must wants a tip. LOL. Yes, people I gave him a tip. It was a good one. I am a professional.

Artsy cafe with gluten-free buns, sandwich bread and wraps. The veggie burger that had raves reviews wasn't GF. Sweet potato fries are crispy. Before noon, not super busy, but by noon it was packed and noisy with chatter. Best part: the gallery walls! Great pieces all around, but I was drawn to this one series. On the way out I took a photo trying to avoid the diners below...and it was the artist! She's fantastic! Never know who you'll meet :)
