We've been huge fans of the Spicy Green Bean for years, but our first time eating at the new location was so severely disappointing that I felt like I had to leave a review.

While the old location was cozy and intimate with eclectic decor and art, the new one feels like someone redecorated a TGI Friday's with items from the TJ Maxx sale section. The quirky charm of the old place has been replaced with fake wood walls, fake plants, bright lights, and loud dance music.

We sat at a table made of a large upturned barrel, which meant that we either had to straddle it or sit sideways. Did anyone try sitting at these? They're comically uncomfortable.

The dishes are still interesting and creative, but everything we ate was under-seasoned and our yuca fries (which sound like an awesome idea!) only tasted like the oil they were fried in.

I've never written a restaurant review online, but the new Spicy Green Bean is so dramatically different (read: worse) than what it once was that I felt like I had to. It's strange that they're now branding themselves as an "edgy" eatery, when everything unique or edgy has been stripped away. This used to be our favorite restaurant in Glastonbury, but I doubt we'll be back again.
