Amazing food & great service. They never disappoint
Amazing food & great service. They never disappoint
Great place. Great staff. Great food. Try the truffle bread and tomato soup, out of the world..
Great menu with lots of fantastic options. Duck rings were awesome
The Spicy Green Bean catered a party I held for 65 people. The food was perfect: something for everyone whether a meat eater or vegetarian. All delicious, beautifully presented. What a marvelous selection of nibbles and dinner was prepared by Kathy and her crew, and the server Nicolle was a pleasure to have assisting with the buffet setup and general all-round help.
I enthusiastically recommend The Spicy Green Bean if you are looking for a great caterer for your next gathering.
All the dishes we had were excellent and service was good too. Only minor ding was the skewered chicken in the Mediterranean dish was overcooked. Accommodating to a child with a peanut allergy.
Had the Polish Thunder omelet. Wow! A great mix of sauerkraut pierogies kielbasa and eggs. The potatoes were excellent as well. The place is small, crowded and noisy but that might be part of the draw. The only knock I give the place is that the food can take a very long time to come out. I wasn't keeping track but if I had to guess, it probably took over 45 minutes. Give it a try!
Delicious food, fun and cozy environment. The food does take a bit to come out but is worth the wait.
They have a wide variety for their menu selection. The food always comes out great!
I read the reviews about their veggie burger and decided to try it. Great decision!! The burger and sweet potato fries were delicious. Their menu overall looked great. I will come back. Good for vegetarians and non vegetarians.
Great spot! Innovative menu selection and the artwork from local artists is always different and cool to look at.
I went today to the spicy bean, looking forward to having breakfast. Christina, our waitress was very nice and super busy.
We waited an hour and twenty minutes before leaving! Our order still was not ready, I was really disappointed at the wait time. It's beyond ridiculous!
Management should staff appropriately, this is unacceptable for such a small restaurant!
Food is excellent! Seating is tight. Service is slow.
Wacky menu, with something to offer for everyone. Great salads, multiple vegetarian options available, and friendly staff.
My co-workers took me here for my birthday. It was awesome fresh and organic.
Everything is made with love here. Good drinks on tap for all pallets and creative cocktails for something new. The staff are friendly and efficient as well. My go to place!
Great place for breakfast! Worth the wait, parking in the rear as well
Decent food and had a very nice waiter named Jay. Dinner took over an hour after our appetizer, I will not be going back nor will I refer this place to a friend.
Such yummy food and drinks! The California fun Benedict was everything I hoped for!!! The donuts were an awesome starter, and the breffie potatoes are INCREDIBLE. Highly recommended and will absolutely be back again!
Only a great experience if you are white and the complete honesty lol they kind forget about you and don t really bother listening if you are anything but that lol really upset cause it was birthday and I really wanted to enjoy it
Awesome delicious food!!!!! Such great customer service! The servers are sweet and kind!!!!!!!!!!
Love brekfast and lunch here. The best sandwiches around. Love the Dr.Love pulled chicken, and the Cuban is awesome. Don't miss the popcorn soup! Onion rings are an indulgence here as well. All the sides are fantastic, especially the tuna-mac, Asian noodle, and slaw!
Best breakfast in the Hartford area. Just be aware the portions are large, especially the pancakes.
The executive chef LJ is incredibly inventive as well as highly skilled and seasoned at his trade. The Purple Goat sandwich and Schrute Farms appetizer are great options for experiencing local goat cheese. Cocktails are pricey but well-crafted (try the peach whiskey mule!) And the menu in general is far from the boring, traditional fare of so many other restaurants. In all, a wonderfully unique dining experience.
I love this place, great food and people. I love the experience everytime im here
Had a nice time on my most recent visit to the SGB. The food here is great, with a casual feel and casual to upscale menu. I highly recommend the Falafel Bowl. Service is normally exceptional at this place, so five stars overall for atmosphere, the menu, the service, and a good outdoor seating area,.
I love the food is amazing and the new place was very beautiful decorated. I went there last week and they change. I don t know why. I prefer the way they start. Replace the vases with plants for empty bottles of alcohol was not a good idea . Before looks very cozy and nice place to hang out with the family
Everything is delicious and plent too! I little noisy for me, but it's a neat trending place
Nice staff, also!
I love this place! The people, the food & the drinks are amazing! You won't regret it!
Food is outstanding! The only reason that I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's kinda pricey. Highly recommend this place to anyone though.
This restaurant is amazing. Loved it when it was down the street, love it even more now. A huge amount of small plates (between $6-12) , so it's a great place to go with friends and try a variety of food. If you go, don't leave without getting the PB+J wings and tomato soup, both are life changing.
*Update*
Went there for brunch today, and the experience was miserable. My food took an hour to get and they forgot my friends. Hash was super dry and flavorless. Been before and was ok. Waitress didnt admit she forgot the food, and comp or apologize for anything. Really disappointed.
Convinced there is nothing bad on this menu. Always awesome and large portions. 100% worth it.
I love this place amazing food and unique on the inside. It is very very small and always crowded, but beyond worth it.
Great location. Easy walking access if you're in the Downtown Glastonbury, CT area. Very creative dishes, hearty ingredients, huge portions and BYOB, (they do have free mimosas with some dishes.)
The epitome of eclectic, but so, so delicious. It's a smaller space so be prepared to be cozy, but the flavors truly open up the experience.
Fun and hipster joint for breakfast. Good omelettes. Would not do the house made donuts again - too crispy. But would recommend! Art on the wall is for sale!
Love love love this place! It's become my regular Friday night (date night) dinner with my wife, and we look forward to the creative specials every week. BYOB (with no corkage fee), great food, and a chef that will try anything - what more could you want?
I love this place and the new location is so much bigger and easier to get in and out of. There are a lot of menu choices and their sandwiches, soups and salads are delicioyand not the same old thing. Really interesting decor and friendly staff.
Great service, brunch from the staff at the bar this morning
Everything is amazing. The only problem is I never know what to order because it is all sooo good.
Love this place great food and friendly staff you will never leave with an empty stomach & its BYOB.
This is me and my boyfriend's "place" lol. We definitely LOVE it here. It's one of those places where you want to eat your way through the entire menu and everything they offer is unique, different, and out of this world tasty good. We especially love going for brunch but we've gone there for dinner the past two times and the food never disappoints. The atmosphere is very cozy, especially at night, and the staff is always really nice and bubbly.
All I have to say is $15 for a falafel pocket is delusional. Bye!
Best restaurant in Glastonbury period!!!! I can't tell you how much I love this place
Creative takes on breakfast faves. No, there is no spicy green bean dish on the menu. However, the ambience is upbeat and fun. We ordered the chicken in a biscuit and the humpty dumpty. Large portions for each meal. I may have added a tad more gravy to my dish but I was too hungry to slow down and ask. The coffee was good. There seem like there are many more great choices on the menu, so we'll be back.
Hands down some of the best food I've eaten! Staff is AWESOME!!! Come as strangers leave as friends! A must try. Once you've eaten here you will be back!!!
I wouldn't eat anything fried here, which is a predominant amount of ingredients are fried. Gluten free? Still deep fried. That freezer doesn't hold temperature during peak business hours on any night which will mess up your insides for a night or two. Staff's great and attractive and all but watch out for the owner. She can get mouthy and disrestpectful at a moments notice, and loves the sound of her own voice. Lots of swearing too but hey, rub her the right way and she'll give you free drinks. Give her a piece of ypur mind and its loud swearing and egotism. Enjoy!
I love this place great food and awesome service and prices are great...
Great food, they were willing to work with my family to help us out when an order we had placed at a different restaurant fell through. Wonderful and helpful people work here and they make some amazing food. Would recommend this place to everyone and look forward to the next time I'll get to enjoy their unique and delicious menu options.
This place used to be our go to place. Now that it has moved we are disappointed by the menu changes, the food is chronically cold and inedible. We ordered something as simple as a fruit cup that never got delivered to our table. With more than 5 wait staff and half the dining room filled. It was extremely disappointing. We used to bring all our friends and out of town guests there as a highlight of Glastonbury. When I complained to the wait staff they simply said my food must have gone cold while waiting for my son's pancakes to cook. They didn't offer to compensate my meal or offer to get me something else. I will never go there again and will encourage others to avoid it at all costs (binn228 has better food and wait staff and a better atmosphere). We used to love the art displayed and have purchased art there. Gone are the days the spicy green bean valued and supported our art community. What a shame.
I can't say enough about the Spicy Green Bean! The service and food are amazing. I have never been given better service than I have today!!
Really delicious, and different, food and very friendly staff. We will be back!
Very friendly staff, excellent food, very original menu. Everything we ordered was delicious!
I live around the corner from this place and I come here at least once a week. It's kind of embarrassing that the staff know me! The food is consistently amazing as are their drinks. Their weekly specials are always interesting, unique, and tasty. I seriously cannot get enough of this place. The wait can get a little long during peak dining times (sometimes as long as 45-60 minutes), so keep that in kind.
Great local restaurant. I have been eating there at their old location before they moved. Service was okay but they make their food from scratch. Every time I stopped there I really loved their veggie burger and their falafel wrap. They showcase many artwork from many local artists in town, really cool that they support them. Since their new location opened, it gets overcrowded unless you go earlier or later during lunch and dinner. Would stop by anytime alone at the bar or with the family to dine. Again, love the food.
UPDATE: They changed their menu. The falafel bowl I had before was decent, but I wish they would have kept the falafel wrap. They also decided to be creative on the vegetarian burger of the day which I m ok with (can t go wrong on that). They offer really good food on the special menu. Gotta keep an eye on that.
This place is a hard pass... First and last time there. My husband and I came in for breakfast. Every gluten free option had something fried. The taste of the food was watery with more lettuce as a garnish than anything else. Our server was very nice and had a positive morning attitude, but when I ordered hot tea she looked at me with a big question make on her face (tea is written on the menu) and then an older lady brought the mug over with hot water and when placing it on the table half of it spelt all over the table and she did nothing to clean it up, just walked away. Thankfully no hot tea water spelt on us.
Very good breakfast/brunch menu. You WILL be full.
Delicious food. Creative too. Quaint atmosphere & easy to get to.
Tasty brunch meal in great atmosphere & friendly service.
I went for lunch with friends. Some of the food we ordered was good, some of it was very good, but all of it took an eternity to arrive. I don't recommend this place if you're hungry (even our appetizer took over a half hour to arrive) or unless you have a good two hours for a lunch break. Oh, and it was freezing inside and the chairs are hard, cold and metal, so bundle up.
Wonderful service, great food, awesome menu! Only drawback was the air conditioner wasn't working and it was hot!!! Other than that, I will come back to try other selections on their cool menu!
Very comfortable and casual place to eat with a good selection of food. The only place I know in the area that has a dish with arepas. The room is very loud so conversation can be tricky when there is a full crowd. Good staff and a good experience. I will return / repeat.
Went two days in a row. Long wait but food is excellent.
A new revamp of this place. Awesome food, good atmosphere. A bit loud with a lot of people but great experience!
Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Our waiter was fun
I have driven past this restaurant each time I was in Hartford. I am glad I finally went in. Popcorn Curry soup... I know right? It was phenomenal. Also their Veggie Burger sandwich is really tasty and completely different than a "hockey puck". Try it, you'll be glad you did.
I ordered the loaded avocado toast I was willing to spend over $10 because I knew it would be good because I had always had good experiences in the past. I paid $15 for one tiny piece of toast with avocado on it, topped with a shrimp. I figured there must had been a mistake and I called to verify that it wasn t messed up by accident and they just forgot the rest of it. Nope, that s what you get for $15.00. I had to quickly find something else since I was still hungry. Very disappointed.
Food is great, but terrible service. You have to wait forever.
I recently came around during lunch, waited for half hour, after being seated no one came to take order or serve, and ended up leaving. What a waste of time.
Forget about how long to be seated when there are ample open tables... it They have incredibly rude service! We never got the coffee we ordered, food was wrong, and we were never checked on.
The waiter ( Zak) was aggressively rude. He asked what the problem was when were were finally being helped by someone else, ripped my card out of my hand, and then called the cops when I asked for the owner! Insane. Not worth the overpriced grease.
The purple goat slaps. Chips on the side usually taste a little oversalted though.
Great breakfast place there are no bad choices here
AMAZING breakfast and lunch here. The waitstaff is very attentive and extremely friendly. You won't be disappointed when you visit.
