Very well located and the other students and teachers are fun to spend time with. Once a week the school goes to the beach to play volleyball. Me and my friend enjoyed it so much that we signed up for 12 more weeks semi intense.

I started my classes since 2 weeks ago and am very happy with the school! Both of my teachers are very helpful and the staff is also super friendly too. The school also offers a variety of activities during the week for anyone who wants to experience the culture of Spain and explore Barcelona. Superb teacher and nice reception! Get help applying for CSN and the times are flexible. Have returned several times to continue studying because I have enjoyed it so much! Fun activities are also arranged in addition to school time so you can hang out with your classmates and teachers outside the school. Super happy with my choice of school!

I have been in the school almost 7 months, great helpful staff and amazing teachers can transfer the ideas perfectly in funny ways as well. beside the opinion the academic issues, they have activities for the weekends and sometimes during the week, they can help you to know more and more in the city and out of the city as well.

I had the pleasure of both completing my Erasmus at this school and participating in the Spanish courses. The lessons are very lovingly and creatively designed and you lose quite quickly the inhibition in a foreign language to speak. What's also cool is that in addition to Spanish culture, you also get to know many different cultures in the classroom, as you get in touch with people from all over the world. Also highly recommended as an internship, because you get from the school management the opportunity to work very independently and flexible in time. It is not a workhorse who uses one as a "cheap worker". Also RESPECT in front of the girls at the reception, who despite high workload never lose track and their smile :)

Best language school I've been studying at (have to mention that i've been to many language schools).
Perfect location, amazing teachers and fabulous activities organised by the school's activities coordinator made my summer unforgetable! So happy I've chosen SpeakEasy BCN for my 3 week Spanish course!!! Can't wait to get back there <3

I ve been at Speakeasy for about 6 weeks now, and I m more sure than ever that I made the right choice to come here! The classes are fun and relaxed, but you still learn so much! The teachers and other people that work there are all so friendly and helpful, everyone wants to make sure you re doing well! Before I moved to Barcelona, I had a lot of questions about classes, housing, and even my student visa, but I always had help from the amazing people at Speakeasy. I wouldn t have been able to figure everything out all on my own! The school also organizes weekly excursions that are very fun and affordable! I love my teachers, my classmates who have quickly become my friends, and the experiences I ve had so far! Can t wait to see what the next 6 months have in store for me!

Speakeasy has been the perfect place the learn Spanish - excellent teaching, well organised and a friendly environment. Online classes have been well-delivered since lockdown, and I wouldn't hesitate to join up again with the school in the future.

I signed up for an intensive Spanish class, 2 hours/day Monday through Friday, which for me was a big commitment. SpeakEasyBCN provides an online placement test so you don t have to worry about choosing what level you think you need to be in.

SpeakEasyBCN is located near Placa Catalunya so it s easy and convenient to get to.There were only 5 other classmates which was perfect because that would mean I would get more one-on-one time.
Carlos, my teacher - I believe he is amazing in every single way. He s kind, sincere, funny and the best thing about him is that he s very patient! Learning a different language is difficult. The same goes for teaching the language as well. Carlos really wants his students to succeed and I am grateful to have him as my teacher.

Speakeasy is one of the best language schools, which seriously suits you to learn Spanish without any nerves in the shortest time. Many exercises take place in a fun, playful form. They even sing there !! In a word, you are charged with positive, knowledge and thanks to the international group you will learn a lot of interesting things about other countries. I did not make much effort, I learned Spanish in six months. I advise !!!

Very nice people there. The faculty are so welcoming and Teachers put a lot of effort into the study and you get to know people all around the world.
With the arrangement of the school you can easily find your way into Spanish learning. Moreover, the teachers are all very nice and attentive to every student.
Furthermore, The school occasionally arrange some activity for you to join after school . Which made you connected with the people and the city better.
Very great place for learning and making friends!

Great language school! Interesting lessons and learning materials. There are no more than 10 people in classes, so you can ask questions and practice speaking in small groups. The only thing is that the teachers do not speak Russian, so for beginners it is better to know English for translation. Also a very convenient location right in the center of Barcelona, close to bus stops and metro stations.

I had been poking around at other language schools in Barcelona this past winter in search of a 10-hour/week Spanish class, but none could beat Speakeasy: the location is great, the classrooms are pleasant, and the registration process was simple. My teachers, Cristina and Veronica, were communicative, knowledgeable, helpful and kind, and I can confidently say that my Spanish improved a lot over the course of two months. The school is also a great value for your money, especially if you book multiple weeks at once. Overall a great experience!

The one-month course has benefited a lot. I have met a very attentive and experienced teacher, learned Western language to learn Western language, and the service staff are very kind. Every week, self-funded sightseeing experience activities are arranged, and the location is convenient. City center, if I return to Barcelona in the future, I will go back to class again, thank you Speakeasy!

My course, which teaches Spanish enough to make a joke in a short time like six months, has fun teachers, whose lessons are like private lessons in small classes. While learning Spanish, how to live in Barcelona, how to have fun, where are the most beautiful tapas, the right choice to see the must-see festivals of Spain, to visit all of Spain with small school trips.

Great school to learn Spanish. Updated and very dedicated teachers. Especially, Leticia and Tania teachers who were sensational. I can also help thanking the staff of the secretary who have always been very attentive to the needs of us students, especially the Brazilian Yasmin who always helped us in what was needed.

I studied for just 2 weeks at Speakeasy but had a good experience, especially as regards changing levels. The placement test put me in a lower level than was appropriate, and the school admin were very flexible about me moving up and then up again, swapping out the textbooks each time for no charge. If you find you're in the wrong level upon arrival, I'd definitely recommend speaking to your teacher on the first day and making your learning objectives clear so you're not wasting time.

I had 5 different teachers due to the level changes and found them all well-prepared and knowledgeable. In general I'd say the students' level of grammar knowledge in this school outstrips their oral ability, at least at the B1 and B2 levels, so keep that in mind when figuring out the right level for you.

The only down side for me was that I didn't find the classes to be intensive. I had 20 hours a week of lessons, but I'd say it was really just 10 hours of instruction and 10 hours of what for me was filler: watching short videos, listening to radio clips, having random discussions that initially related to an exercise but quickly veered off into irrelevant topics, reading aloud, etc. I don't know if for the other students these activities were useful, but for me, they weren't because they didn't seem to have any objective. We didn't, for instance, watch a video and then watch it again with a transcript to pick up the new vocabulary and expressions. We just watched it, had a vague little chat, then went on.

The conversation too was all free-flowing, with little correction and no imposed structure that would require us, for example, to put a new grammatical point to use while speaking. This, I think, may explain why students at the school have such low levels of spoken Spanish as compared to their grammatical understanding. They're allowed to speak however they want in class, using very simple constructions, leaving out verbs, etc. New grammar isn't practiced orally.

During my two weeks I only had homework twice, and never found that I needed to review anything taught in class at home (it was practiced over and over and over in class using photocopies). On the one side, this is good, because your 20 hours of Spanish is just that, 20 hours, no more. But on the other, for someone like me who doesn't have 20 hours of free time a week, I'd love to see Speakeasy introduce a truly intensive class for people who prefer a more academically demanding setting and are willing to supply the effort outside of class to make the lessons stick.

The pros: We had small group private lessons outside of the school at our apartment. Our instructor was punctual, enthusiastic, professional, polite, competent, and made us feel comfortable learning. All great. Additionally, this school accepted payment directly via credit card (Visa/Mastercard) making it much easier to pay the tuition from America than a bank transfer (which made us much more comfortable as a bank transfer is weird and too much trouble).

The cons: The first lesson had to be rescheduled on short notice due to the first teacher (apparently quitting?) just prior to our scheduled time. And there were no books or materials given (other than photocopies) to work with and/or take home for continued practice and self-directed learning. I would also like to see them use PayPal or accept American Express via a "pay online" option. So I took away 1 star for these issues.

The location of the school is very good and they aim to enrich your school life with the facilities they provide. I can say good things about education as well, instead of giving homework all the time, the lessons are taught in a practical way. The homework given aims at more practical teaching than rote learning, which is the kind of education everyone wants. I'm thinking of applying again for extra lessons!

I went to speakeasy for 5 months to study Spanish. I started with no Spanish at all and now I can have full on tinder conversations with the locals ;) it's quite an expensive school but you do get good quality teachers. It's pretty central, very well connected by metro or bus. They organize events where you can meet other students and build up a social circle. I'd made friends in the first week so you definitely won't feel alone in this school. If you don't like your class or your teacher you can inform the reception and they will try to put you in a different classroom. So to summarize it; expansivo pero muy bueno

Superb language school. I met lovely friends from many countries here. All classes are taught in small classes, the classroom atmosphere is very pleasant, and the teachers and classmates get along well. The school organizes some fun activities every week, such as going mountain climbing, going to sitges and so on. In short, the price is very high. highly recommended!

Spent two months in this school. I signed up because of the activities the school runs every week because I thought it would be a good way to make friends. The teachers I had (Bea, Txemi and Christina) we're absolutely fantastic. I learned a lot and met some lovely people. Hopefully I will be back next summer.

I started in the school never having spoken or studied Spanish.

The school faces a major problem, because a beginner class such as mine is made up by people who have had Spanish for 0-8 years in school. The effect is the following:

1. The teacher speaks to the class as if everyone has a high level of Spanish, trying to satisfy the needs of the best students in the class which are not beginners.
2. You are interupted by several fellow students, who are eager to give their correct answer, leaving you unable to hear what the teacher is saying.
3. When you try to slowly formulate a sentence, the experienced students start talking, taking the teachers attention.

Things done well:
1. All communication is in Spanish.

Teacher quality:
From really good to very poor.

I have following suggestions for improval:
1. Only put beginner students in beginner class
2. As a teacher tell everyone that they must be quiet when other students give answers.
3. Apply changes according to the verbal and written feedback given to you by your students at your school. The excuse I was given earlier, that "our model has seemed to work for the past 12 years, so why change it", is not the way to go in 2012.

I would start by saying I definitely learned a lot...

I would start by saying I definitely learned a lot more Spanish at Speak Easy than I did my entire 4 years of highschool in the states. The intense 5 or 6 hours a day of Spanish for 2 weeks really imerses you. But I do have a complaint.

The one thing that still kind of makes me angry when I think back about it is there was 1 teacher I had the first week who I feel kind of wasted my money.

I had taken Spanish in highschool and college but I was terrible, like, really bad. But in the back of my head I knew some grammar and some vocab even if I couldn't make sentences.
So at Speakeasy I was first put in the level 1 class but quickly realized that I knew more Spanish than that. (Level 1 week 1 is like, hola, como estas, soy de Estados Unidos.) If you speak any Spanish level 1 week 1 isn't for you. Either start at week 2 or move up. The people in that class generally have never been exposed to Spanish.

So at the break I told my teacher I thought I should move and she set me up in the level 2 class. In this class you start learning past tense. This was awesome, I was thrown in a little out of my comfort zone but the classes are small and you can only speak Spanish. It forced me to speak and by the end of the week I felt really confident.
However the 2nd to last day of class there was a particularly hard day and the teacher didn't seem to like me and I guess and I was having a lot of trouble that day and she was getting annoyed with me. But I certainly wasn't the only one who was having a little trouble that day.
At the end of class she told me that she wanted to move me back down to level 1 to get some vocab basics.
I assumed, she works here all year, she knows what shes doing, and I don't feel 100% confident, so maybe that's a good idea.

So the next week I did level 1 week 2. And I didn't know everything by any means, but I knew enough that at times I felt like I wasn't getting much out of the class. The people in the class had only been speaking for a week of their whole lives. It was mostly vocab and I felt like I could have studied it on my own a lot easier than the grammar I could have learned in level 2 week 2.

By the end of the week I was really pretty angry because even though I had fun in my level 1 class I didn't learn nearly as much as I would have if I got to do future tense in level 2 week 2. From the start Speakeasy knew I could only pay for 2 weeks of classes. So I was out of money and had to stop studying at Speak Easy and try to learn future tense on my own.

I still can't speak in the future tense very well, I don't feel like my vocab benefited THAT much from being in level 1. So I sort of felt like they wasted my time and money all because of one teacher who I trusted.

Besides that 1 teacher however, all of the other Spanish teachers were really really fun and nice. I loved the girls teaching Spanish 1 especially. I would do it again but I would say be sure you assert yourself or get a 2nd opinion on your level.

I started my course here since September 2018. In general I am very satisfied with this school! I am very luck to get Ana Eva as my teacher since the beginning A1.1. She is very experienced and responsible. My Spanish has improved a lot thanks to her. I also appreciate the help from other teachers Cristina, Olga and Xavi! I recommend this school to anyone who wants to study Spanish in Barcelona!

A nice school with high quality teachers, a great location and fun events! Some classes could use a little more structure, but generally the course material progresses well. The staff is quite nice too :)

I have a great time learning Spanish at Speakeasy. My teachers are amazing. They're very supportive and the way they teach is very clear that I don't have any difficulty understanding the lessons even though everything is taught in Spanish since day 1. The school is also located on a very good location, easily access with the metro. The size of the class is perfect. The staff are also super helpful, plus there're always some interesting activities every week. I do recommend choosing Speakeasy if you're looking for a Spanish course in Barcelona!

I studied Spanish at Speakeasy on and off for about two years and I couldn t be more appreciative with how much the teachers here have helped with my Spanish. I ve had a number of different teachers, all very committed to seeing their students improve. They are genuinely passionate about ensuring their students are learning. I hope the school treats them well and offers them incentives to retain them. Their best asset are the teachers. Aside from that, reception and staff are also super helpful and friendly. I think they try to be as flexible as possible, with some limitations when it comes to pausing classes or changing the type of course you re enrolled in, even when your ability to stay in the country is no longer contingent on your courses. That said, I would 1000% recommend Speakeasy, love them!

I am currently studying at SpeakeasyBCN and I am having an amazing experience thus far! I researched different language schools in BCN for about 5 months, and this option continued to rise as the best. First of all, I found the school to be relatively cheap in comparison to other schools. I did a lot of research prior to coming and inquired in many other schools about different prices, but I found Speakeasy to be the cheapest for what you get. Now that I have been in my program for 2 months and have experienced different teachers, I am assured that this is the case! Second, I found the administrators to be extremely helpful, especially prior to my arrival. I first exchanged emails with Dina and she responded much quicker and more thoroughly than the schools I had inquired about. Additionally, Gabriel was so helpful in the visa and admission process. It was evident that the two of them both cared about my individual situation and wanted to help. Third, I am not usually one for organized or school activities, but my first week here I decided to go to one of the Speakeasy events because I didn't know anyone. It turned out to be such a fun night and I made great friends that night! I have gone to several "activities" since, and every one of them has been a fun time and good cultural experience. It is a great way to meet people and get to know your classmates! Dina also does a really great job at making the events fun and making sure you feel connected and comfortable. Last thing.. I have been really pleased with my teachers and the help I have received from the reception in regards to my classes. It is evident that everyone at Speakeasy truly wants to help you make the most of your experience and time at the school!

My experience in speakeasy was generally very positive. I have been in Spain for about 10 months to study Spanish and I studied 9 weeks in Speakeasy at B2 level. I experienced a few teachers as it was the holiday season and the teachers were leaving for holidays. Amongst them I found Veronica and Carolina particularly amazing as they were always well-prepared for the class with many exercises and interesting topics. They respected the students very much and did not waste any time. I am not sure if I will be able to go back to Speakeasy as I understand that they do not always open a class at C1 level, but I would love to..
