Great beer choice. Amazing atmosphere. Definitely a place to go.
Speakeasy Ales & Lagers seems like it is in the middle of nowhere, with a relatively empty parking lot. As you walk to the entrance you will feel like you are about to enter a real Prohibition era speakeasy, sliding peephole in the door and all. The tap room itself has a dark and mysterious vibe, and is relatively quiet compared to most tap rooms.
The beer itself is very tasty; most of the brews are very hop-centric. Some of my favorites include the Double Daddy Imperial IPA and the Baby Daddy Session IPA. The Big Daddy IPA and the Prohibition Ale are also very good.
Prices for a pint of one of the many Speakeasy ales and lagers are extremely reasonable, probably being the cheapest I have ever seen for craft beer. Check out Speakeasy Ales & Lagers if you have a car in the San Francisco area and are a fan of hoppy beers!
Great beer and the outdoor seating during covid is great. Good rotation of tasty food trucks (have to buy food to be able to drink onsite).
All info says this place is open. Nope. Tap room is all closed up and no info. Pretty long drive out for nothing.
Their taproom is a great place to try Speakeasy ales that you won't find in the store or are hard to find at pubs, e.g. cask-aged ales. They'll fill crowler(s) here too.
It's pretty easy to like Speakeasy beers but what I like most about them is that Speakeasy regularly host tasting events/festivals at their brewery. Events usually include unlimited tastings and are themed. Keep an eye out on their event calendar for upcoming events. The only gripe I have about them is the out-of-the-way location. It's a bit tedious to get to using public transportation so take taxi/uber/etc. if you plan to drink.
Loved the outdoor seating, good quality beer, and fantastic food. Guest chefs were the Vegan Hood Chefs.
Great beer and a great place to hang out for an afternoon. The staff is very friendly and it's easy to strike up a conversation with the other patrons.
Great beer, great atmosphere, wonderful people working the bar... Molly and Jeff I am talking about you!
Though I miss the wide-open warehouse feel, their new speakeasy styled setup is pretty sweet. Need to fix the lighting in the first room, though - florescent light in a speakeasy is taboo methinks.
Lovely Taproom. Decent place for a cold pint during the day. Various brew styles. Not just a long list of IPAs. Fair price compared to many.
Big Daddy straight from the teet and alot of other beers they brew that are hard to find. This tasting room brings you back to the Prohibition Era.
Great beer selection! Nice place to hangout if you're in San Francisco. Tasting room is intimate with lots of seating. Staff are friendly and eager to explain their beers. Their flagship beers such as Big Daddy IPA and Prohibition are always recommended, but you must as well try their barrel-aged beers!
Always good service and also good food. Bonus: they disinfect tables and stools religiously, staff always wearing mask. Love this neighborhood spot.
Like the reconfigured Tap Room. Nice vibe, great beer, friendly bar staff, good music playing...what's not to like? Did we cover the great beer part?
I came here for an event so the beer was all free. The outside of the building looks plain, but the inside looks 1920's. Most of their beers are very hoppy. In all, it's a great place to hang out for drinks.
I am bummed out!!! I feel like a junkie without my stuff! I cannot get Prohibition Ale anywhere. All the stores I go to that always have it say it has something to do with the damn distributors!! True/not true?
Maybe Bev. Not at whole foods or many other places I go. :>(

Sneak into one of the alcove rooms if you'd like a little privacy.
Great SF brewery! Good choice of beers to suit all tastes. Outdoor seating area is planned and spaced out well and the choice of food when we visited was pretty varied from a Mexican food truck, shrimp, donuts and ice cream. It was also great to see local causes and local artisan sellers being given a space to sell their goods. But essentially we came for the beer and this did not disappoint! Look forward to the day when we can sit inside what looks to be a very cool bar inside. We had the parrot hill and the black lager, both well kept and delicious! Would recommend this place, worth the visit!
You have to make it to one of the Fri and Sat events. So much fun!
This place is awesome - a little outside of the center, but so cool and easy going. Everyone is super friendly, and has none of the d-bag hipster thingy that has invaded dogpatch and the rest of the city. come here to get your beer yo.
Great little business they're running over here. High quality, hoppy beers, a fun tap room, and a really approachable tour. Feels really small and tight-knit there even though the operation is growing quickly. The tour definitely increased my appreciation for their craft (as did a couple snifters of Double Daddy).
This place is a hike for those without a car or bike, but it can be worth it if you're into the SF Brewery scene. The tour is not remarkable if you've seen a mash ton & brew kettle before, but the taproom they just recently built has a great ambiance and usually has some hard-to-find beers from Speakeasy on draft. A must-do for fans of the brand and the beer-curious. They have a parking lot, but bike there if you can!
Don't claim you're open if you're closed. Waste of time
Great local brewers! I love their beers, and they have a great cozy taproom to hang out in. They often do fun events that I would recommend attending.
Great beer, on my list of favorite local breweries. The newly added bar inside of the brewery adds to the awesomeness. Double daddy! and their imperial IPA is fantastic.
Buried in this weird and, oh, i heard, kinda dangerous part of the southeasternly portion of the city lies a cozy little wooden speakeasy style bar that adds an awesome element to the Speakeasy Brewery. Awesome staff, extremely well stocked with Speakeasy's awesome array of selections (duh), you could ind yourself drinking a hard-to-find glass of beer that traveled literal FEET in it's short life.
The brewery tour itself was awesome, with all of the brewing processes arranged in a nice little tour, which is really fun at a smaller brewery, because everything has a good story or a sort of experimental feel to it. The guy who gave our tour was an excellent tour guide (I believe he gives walking tours on the side as well) but also works there, so he knows the ins and outs of the beer.
Great kind of thing to go hit for a night with a bunch of friends. Stay and drink and chill in a rad spot, and get a sidecar/lyft home.
Although a little far out, what a great venue. Delicious beers that are brewed right there in a speakeasy setup... gives you a feel of how it was during prohibition. If you can get the brewery tour while there, don't miss it.
Amazing beers, awesome atmosphere... A definite stop every time I'm in the neighborhood.
Came here as a guest of a Google Expert (Paul Volk) for a Google+ event. Great interior decor and side rooms with a cozy feel. I love the speakeasy style of the front door too. The building has the Speakeasy logo, which is very Gatsby-ish, on the brewery wall out front. The bartenders were friendly and the brewery tour was informative about the Speakeasy brewing process. I had The Witness, a light unfiltered beer, and Prohibition, which was also flavorful and good.
You will enjoy the new tap room and the tour. They plan to add more bike parking.
But if you over-enjoyed, don't fall off your bike. Instead go home on the muni across the street.
We visited this brewery on when of our trips to Cali, I think like 2011. Yea late on review, sorry i had a blackberry back then. All I can say is this was one of my more liked breweries. The guy pouring brews was cool, the place was in a warehouse. It was like being at a very cool friends garage.
I went during a special event so I don't know if my review is skewed, but they gave an interesting 30-minute tour of the brewery. I overall like their beers because of their complexity. If you like IPAs, you'd appreciate Speakeasy. Big Daddy IPA is their flagship beer, but I also like Prohibition. You can tell they really care about their craft. They also have a bar/lounge area where you can buy glasses/growlers or buy some bottles to-go.
Make the trip with some feinds. They have a couple rooms you can grab with big tables for games and general drunken fun. Fell like sitting outside? Grab a table and BS with your neighbors.
Came here twice. Once was several years ago when it first opened and we were able to drink and walk through the actual distillery area and there were food trucks outside. Fun times!
Second time was much more recent and was still a great time. The actual bar/lounge area was dimly lit and it wasn't overly crowded for a Saturday night. Easy to find a table, easy to find parking. It's great!
And, there are board and card games. We ended up playing Cards Against Humanity and that was fun. We stayed for almost 3 hours, drinking and playing. It was nice and chill.
Though, to be honest, it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. At least for now. So if you're going for a beer at Speakeasy, you're basically *really* going for *several* beers at Speakeasy.
Fun space. I'll definitely be back.
This place is closed for "new management." They haven't bothered to update their phone answering system which says they are still open Tuesday-Saturday from 1 pm and on. Don't waste your time and uber $$ like we did traveling out there!
Cute tasting room. A little slow but good beers, nice variety, solid price.
Have a beer in the casual brewery warehouse, Friday and Saturday early evenings.
DRINKS:
Speakeasy beers are all very ... tasty. On the menu were many that were higher than average alcohol by volume
SERVICE:
bartenders were very attentive
ATMOSPHERE;
Very cute, speakeasy feel, with the speakeasy door, and old looking bar. Apparently there's BBQ trucks on Sunday and occasional live music. The live music makes it really awesome. At least when we went for the Google City Expert event, it was swanky prohibition kind of band. The only thing is this is so far away from downtown SF, it's in the middle of BayView/Hunter's Point.. Felt like I was back in the suburbs of South Bay. Not very SF feel. Maybe if they opened up a tap room in the middle of downtown/SOMA, that would be perfect. :D
OMG and Lordie Lord do you need to go by this place!
I know it's a bit far from places you would normally visit but here is my suggestion. Go to this amaz-balls Brew House before a Giants game. It's not that far from the stadium and the price you'll pay for a pint at the Brew House will get you to your happy place in a 4th of the cost at the game!
The beers here are fantastic! I haven't had one that I didn't like! The Big Daddy IPA is one of their more popular beers, but watch out! There is more goodness where that came from (because it came from this very brewery...seriously!) I had the pleasure of enjoying The Accomplice and Scarface. They are knock you're socks off good! I also had a pint (or two) of the Double Daddy IPA. Yummers!
There is no food here just great beers!
They have tours, I went, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got to drink while we were on it. So basically it was awesome.

Great beers, awesome bartenders. The perfect place to go to after work and have a beer or two.
Some of the best craft beers I've had, and I've had a lot! Very cool joint!
Kind of a pain to get to, but awesome happy hours if you can find a designated driver!
Pretty cool speakeasy/bar. It's pretty far out from central SF which has a ton of things to offer so I don't know if I'd make the trip out here again but I enjoyed it while I was there. Pretty small variety of beers but they quality is definitely there. Each person has their own preferences on beer so i won't say anything except that I liked them.
If I'm ever in the area i'd stop by but it isn't so amazing that i'd go out of my way.
Great beers and friendly staff. We went with the intension of having one beer...ended up here most of the night and leaving with 4 large bottles to take home. Loved the Black Hand Milk Stout.
I understand this whole covid situation bit all i wanted to do is share a snack witha friend who doesnt drink alcohol. But no. The rules here inquire u and the other person to have food. Juts sounds like they are trying to makeoney cuz everything on the menu is 8 or 15 dollars. Not a place to go if u just want small meal or appitizer with a friend.
Super chill vibe, I loved the atmosphere and decorations! Will definitely be back.
Great easy going spot for some delicious locally brewed craft beers ... they also have a decent selection of food . It s at times full and noisy but for the most part it s quiet. Off the beaten path of the city but it s almost a must if you are in the neighborhood looking for a drink
Delicious beer, super friendly and chill staff. Love it here.
Take the T-Third Street Muni line South to the Bayview, hop off and walk a quarter of a mile to one of San Francisco's local brewing treasures. Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, which now boasts its own tap room: a dark, cozy setting in one of San Francisco's sunniest neighborhoods, which lends itself to daydreams of the days of booze-smuggling conspiracy.
Call or email ahead (they're quite responsive!) and schedule a tour of the warehouse brewing facility where you'll learn ins and outs of large-scale beer brewing and even a few tips for homebrewing. You will also see some brewer humor in the funny signs they have made for each other around the building. Do some tasting ($4-$5) and take home a growler ($15-$20.)
An amazing place to have a beer. Staff great. Security gaurd was very friendly . And they have a pet cat. If your a beer lover. You should defo try here
Knockout great place to hit for awesome brewery experience
Wish they had wifi, but otherwise great friendly place with the best brew!
Great beer, patio is nice and spacious, and food was bomb!
Its laid back, its local, kids are welcome, i hope dogs are too. I have to ask next time.
I love this place!
Had researched this place before, looked fun. Today we found it by accident. They generously offered samples and I ended up with the Prohibition, very tasty. Dog friendly for a well behaved dogs. All around very nice get away...
Very cool setup and great quality beers! Games to play, events, and a cute little brewery cat that wanders around saying hi to people :) I love coming here anytime I'm in the area.
Full disclosure, came here on Google's dime. But wow, what a cool place! It's both a bar with all the Speakeasy beers on tap, and the brewery in the same building. We went on a tour of the brewery and albeit a small establishment, they pump out some tasty beer. This place exudes prohibition style but with that down to earth SF vibe in place of the typical douchebaggery that comes in tow with the newly hip prohibition bar scene. They really care about their beer, confirmed by how they explain it to you and by the taste (and I'm not a beer person). The Scarface stout was my beer of the evening. This place is out in the boonies though, so bring your car (they have a parking lot) or brave the light rail past the ballpark (best of luck). Can't wait to come back here when I'm driving through.
Great beer great staff cool tap room feels like an old speakeasy
Brought our own food. Saw some cute dogs inside the brewery. Had some good beer. Nice time.
An awesome brewery experience! Great selection of beers on tap and the tour is very informative. Lots of free parking out front. The bar tasting place is very 1930's themed. Highly recommend checking it out. Unless you take the bus, not close to public transit.
Everything you'd think it would be. Brave coming to The Hood for the good suds. 94124 reppin! Those who know don't speak on it!
Good place. Good beer. Small venue. It's very dark inside as well. Due to the size, it's extremely loud when it gets busy. Wish they had a larger taproom with more selection.
Ambiance is great its intimate and retro. Big private rooms great for whatever. Friday and Saturday they bring out a food vendor. Prices are reasonable. Usually games outside. Your in SF but you feel like your somewhere else.
Speakeasy beers rock! They keep working on improving them. Their brewery tour is fascinating, and attached they have a very cozy lounge bar serving their range of beers for cheap, growlers available too. Theirs is the first Belgian style white wheat beer I liked, so much I drank all sixteen oz. happily. It's out in Bayview, but well worth a trip anytime. I hope to return many times, thanks!
Great place on the weekends good beer and great music. Very cool rooms to, if you get a chance take a tour their so much fun. Also buy a growler of beer. Definitely cheaper than buying it at the store
Pretty cool brewery with a much better beer selection on tap than what they sell bottled.
This is a nice chill place, kinda out of the way but still good energy. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. I like their food truck nights for introducing me to some unique food while enjoying great testing beer.
Update/Edit: What a difference a few months makes. Had to knock down two stars here. We started to make this our after work Happy Hour go-to spot due to proximity to our offices. Not sure what happened at the taproom since my initial review, but those friendly interactions with the bartenders have gotten downright salty. One bartender was just plain rude and we decided to find another spot. We gave it another shot a couple weeks ago, because we really liked the place and figured it could just have been a bad day for the guy. Different bartender, not as rude, but I definitely didn't feel welcome. I still like the brews and will continue to purchase at the store, but I won't be returning to the taproom any time soon unfortunately.
I've always liked their brews, but I was blown away by their, uh, speakeasy themed bar on my last visit. They really nailed the ambiance.
It's way out of the way, but worth checking out.
Nice tasting room with awesome decor and plenty of space to spread out and drink. A good variety of beers, including some heavy IPA s, good stouts, and some malty options as well.
