I recently moved here from out of state and ive finally been ready to get a kitty again. I was able to adopt the most loving and super healthy kitty here for a really cheap price. They are very organized and professional. You can see the cages are clean and the animals are cared for. I have honestly never in my life seen such a well put together animal shelter. If I would give ten stars I could.

Very clean and friendly staff here! I rescued my amazing LOLA from here and I couldn t be more happier! I do have a issue tho, after we brought Lola home a week later we noticed she had a protruding bulge and scab where the microchip goes. I called it in and they said Take her to your vet well I did just that and apparently The vet here who put in the initial microchip put it in incorrectly which caused Lola to get a slight infection and her body was rejecting the Microchip, which then intern my vet had to remove it and insert it in a different location due to whomever put in this micro chip. Whomever answered my call (which I didn t get a name) completely blew this off even tho it was they re doing. Don t get me wrong I adore what they re doing for all of These poor animals that don t have a home just yet and of course ALL THE MEDICAL ISSUES THEY MAY HAVE. I just feel that the veterinarian or whomever needs to take better precaution and try not to rush things because this is my first dog that an actual Microchip protruded out of the body and it was pretty disgusting. But yes other that that I would definitely definitely recommend coming here and rescuing a new fur baby!!

Staff always seems to be busy talking to each other.. Act like they're doing you a favor just by acknowledging you.. Asked about some kittens they had.. And was ignored.. Only one of their staff members took the time to answer me after I had to ask a couple of times.. :(

Very affordable and caring clinic that accepts walk ins. I went today to get my jack russel/dauchsund mix who is 17 years old a rabies shot against my best judgement of course I was a bit worried due to her age, but she needs a nail trim bad and I wasn't able to take her to her normal groomer to get her nails trimmed without an updated rabies vaccine. Luckily SPCA clinic advised me against the vaccine due to her age and suggested I bring her back Monday and allow them to do the nail trim. I really appreciated the confirmation from them that a dog her age should not get vaccinations and luckily they can trim the nails without it and at a lower price then where I previously took her. Thanks SPCAMC!

If i could give -5 stars i would:

We went to go see a dog and we were denied due to my youngest brother using aggressive language children are children and get carried away when playing but that itself in as a reason is not a reason enough to deny someone the right . Aside from this we were under constant watch by there staff felt as if they might have been a bit to vigilant as if looking for excuses definitely felt the racial tension the whole time.

All in all i enjoyed the love i got from the animals but the hate from the employees was much greater

Here is a place that with the help of the community and our rich neighbors we are able to take care of and find homes for our abandoned and mistreated pet's. This place and its organization in its entirety do so many wonderful things for so many wonderful people and pets alike. My daughter's are so inspired by this wonderful place that because of this organization, my children are loving and very giving people. Thank you SPCA and your volunteers for the hard work and loving that you do for our area and other town and city's that need your assistance.

The facilities here were very nice. However, the staff at the front desk were not very helpful, or eager to assist. Someone else walked by us while we were outside, might have been a trainer, and was more than glad to chat and help.

They've remodeled quite nicely since I was there last. I didn't know where to go or how to see the animals, but someone helped me. All the services offered are not clear. But it's obvious they do a lot. Very clean and not depressing.

Who doesn't love our animal companions. People that work in any medical profession or care agency deserve our supporrt. I had my rescue doggy spayed at MRY SPCA and the level of care there is most excellent. It makes my heart more loving to know that donations help so many others and allieviate pain for our fellow travelers.

So first of all, I have been trying to adopt a puppy from this place for MONTHS now. I signed up for their pet alert program. So far I ve got every alert for a puppys available in the last 8 months. Multiple times Within 1 or 2 minutes From getting an alert I ve filled out an application for adoption on their website. Both my girlfriend and I have done this. Not once did we ever get a call or email other then to tell us that the animal we filled an application out for is unavailable.
We have called and left voicemails etc. this just seems ridiculous to us. We ve called and been told that we will be contacted. We ve called and asked about the online forms. Only for them to tell us that it s first come first serve. First person to fill out an application for an animal gets called. This seems ridiculous to us consider We ve filled out loads of applications.

This is a wonderful facility with so much to offer our community! The adoption area is beautiful and open to the public, so you can go in and visit with the animals any time. The SPCA Spay and Neuter Clinic is friendly, efficient, and cost-effective, and they don't charge an exam or office fee! They do spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchips, deworming, and flea/tick preventative. Prices are all on the wall, like a fast food menu, so you know exactly how much your bill is going to be. My husband and I had to day goodbye to our 16 year old cat a few months ago, and we had him euthanized at the SPCA. They made a terrible experience bearable with their kindness, compassion, and efficiency. They even make it easy to cremated your pet and order an urn if you so desire (not required, just an option), and the engraved urn we got is a beautiful tribute to a faithful friend. All told, the Monterey County SPCA is a rare find among animal shelters. This special place deserves our support and patronage, because they are doing very meaningful work in our community, and doing it very well.

If you ask me the SPCA for Monterey County is the best place in the country. Recently I've noticed that sometimes they run low on animals which I have to imagine is because they do such a good job placing them! We recently lost both our elderly family pets and decided to go to the SPCA to adopt rather than going through a breeder to get another animal. I couldn't be happier with the girl we adopted and the value the SPCA offers. She was spayed had received all of her shots, and it's clear that the staff had taken time to work with her on basic obedience. We have since returned for her second set of vaccines and will return to do some more training with her. There is much more to say but I would just encourage you to check out the facility, you won't be disappointed! Nice job Monterey County!

Super loving and friendly place. They are really good about getting pets adopted and they show a lot of care in the treatment of their animals. They have a large selection of pets, from small household pets to larger farm animals. The staff are super friendly, and there's usually a few people available to help.

They have a nice little lawn to bring dogs out for runs, and gated off areas for you to play with the dogs and get to know them better. They also have rooms for puppies/small dogs and for cats.

Great facility and they seem to take great care of the animals. My daughter got a puppy from them, and they made sure she had everything she needed when she walked out the door with her new family member. Would definitely go back if looking to adopt another pet.

It was time to add a new furry member to the family and of course we went to the SPCA for Monterey County. We knew we wanted a dog that was a herding breed and who do we find but the cutest red Queensland Heeler ever!

The staff is professional, the newly renovate shelter is an oasis for animals waiting for their forever home. We ran into families who had just stopped into the shelter to pet the cats and kittens. How wonderful for the animals.

Please if you are looking for a dog, cat, horse, goose, duck, rabbit or any variety of exotic animals check out the SPCA on the Monterey-Salinas Highway across from Laguna Seca Raceway, we did and now Jeb is our newest family member.

Beautiful, clean facility; well maintained. Seemed a bit disorganized upon entry. This was the first time we had been there so we weren't sure what to expect. Different people floating in and out if the front desk made it somewhat difficult to navigate the process.

We had looked on the website prior to going so we knew a couple dogs we wanted to see.
We ended up adopting the perfect dog for our family and we are so pleased.

The only downfall was there wasn't much education from them to us. Thankfully we had past experience with dogs. We took our dog for a free wellness visit to a local vet and found that he had worms and kennel cough.

UNPROFESSIONAL & LIARS.Called before I went to the vaccine clinic & no one was answering phones & no voicemail.I arrived ON TIME & BEFORE THEY CLOSED. (THEIR RESPONSE IS LYING,I can also tell time).Waited for 10 min. before anyone could tell me that no one would help me.The gal told me they were in a meeting & ended the clinic early that day.Not a huge deal if they took responsibility but a complete waste of my cat's anguish &my time.
I encourage anyone who has a bad experience to post your reviews. They never take responsibility&ALWAYS make it the customers fault. They always say it's a "miscommunication" but English is my 1st language. Managers who do not have integrity in their mistakes, lie and blame customers, should not be in business.*See Marc Spector's review besides all the others with 1-2 stars .

Clean, friendly staff, nice space. The animals available was a surprisingly smaller number than I expected. Hopefully that's a good thing! The one person who does foster care was not in the day we visited, the reason for our visit, so we left contact info and have not heard back yet. Staff was immediately responsive when i pointed out a raw spot on one cats belly as we walked through and looked. The volunteer we interacted with was also helpful.

I surrendered my dog and when I wanted to pay to get him back they wouldn't let me. I can not understand why. I did offer to pay for him. Please do not post untruthful replies. When I asked if I could pay to pick him up your response was you had already put too much work into him and that option was no longer available. I told you I would pay for him. I was planning to pick him up next week. Or at least send someone else to get him but he's not on the website anymore. I just hope he got a home and you guys didn't kill him. My daughter cries for him every night still.

I had to bring my two 1 year old puppies here because we're moving, and the woman at the adoption center was absolutely amazing, truly an angel. She was so patient, caring & considerate. As I was saying. She told us there was a surrender few for each animal, and unfortunately I'm disabled and broke as hell, I haven't yet received my SSI and I told the woman is there anything I can do & explained the situation & she was so considerate she waived the fees for me, I couldn't help but cry because of what she did.she even gave me a paper with there tag #'s & phone number so that we can check in on them to see the status of their hopeful adoptions. And then she even got us an appointment to spay my daughter's dog, the mother of the puppies to be spayed for $25 which is a huge help to us.i can't thank SPCA for being so amazing to me.

Both of my Pets Milo and Rocky got neutered at the SPCA and had their Shots. Whenever I go over there I visit with the other Pets and spent a little time with them. I wish I could take them home with me when I look at their sad Eyes I feel like crying because they are waiting for their Furever home. Unfortunately I live in a 1 Bedroom Apartment and I am not allowed to have more Animals. But I do like to see those poor Babies and give them a little love. I wish I could do more for all of them.

I dropped off two stray kitties at the SPCA in Mon...

I dropped off two stray kitties at the SPCA in Monterey because they were little and I thought the SPCA would provide better care than what we could. I was so WRONG! The SPCA made it sound like they would take care of them in their nursery or find them a foster home, unless the county "wanted them." They never said that the HAVE to give the kitties to the county and that the county euthanizes them, but when I called to check on the kitties their story changed. They were very non-transparent about the whole process because they want to appear like the rescue and protect animals, but they don't. I expressly requested that if they couldn't find a place for them, to please call me back and I would take them and try to care for them even though I don't know how. They didn't do that. They made it sound like they would take care of them, but they didn't, yet they took our donation. The SPCA LIES!! If you don't want a stray kitty to get euthanized, take care of it yourself. The SPCA does NOT rescue and protect all animals. They are not to be trusted. Lesson learned the hard way.
UPDATE in response to SPCA comment below:
If the SPCA had been straightforward from the beginning and clearly stated that they weren t going to try to save them, I wouldn t have left the kitties under their care. When I spoke with the county shelter on the phone the said the SPCA never offered to keep them. They didn t say that they HAD to take them, but that they were called in to pick up the kitties so they did. NO ONE tried to save these kitties. I thought I was doing the right thing by leaving these poor helpless creatures with the SPCA because I thought they would take good care of them, but now I know they can t be trusted. And NO, the shelter clearly told me they euthanized them because they had nowhere to send them, not because they had any medical issues. The SPCA is now trying to make it something that it s not.

This is the worst place I have been to. Don t believe anything they say about caring for animals. They are rude and their staff hate animals. I delete with them 3 times so far and I regret it each time I have to go. Today my husband took small kittens that we found ( I would keep them but I have 6 cats already) and the staff lady told my husband ( let me tell you a little tip for next time, when you find kittens leave them they will find their way) what an awful person would say that? I mean these people are way beyond mean and rude. I told my husband he should have taken the kittens back from this evil place. My husband was very nice and didn t say anything. And this isn t the first time. I have had terrible customer service from this place many times before. Very rude, they are no way near animal lovers. Previously one of the workers told me oh we don t deal with stray cats it is not our business ... Shame on you CPCA.. horrible
