This was our third time going and it s still wonderful. I love how they let the peacocks wander around and the petting zoo animals are too cute. We took a ride on the camels this year and it was an amazing experience. And like always the deer park was lots of fun the deer really do eat from your hands. Definitely one of our favorite zoos.

A pretty huge zoo to be quite honest. They have an enormous variety of animals and also have a pretty big size of different monkeys. My daughter's favorite zoo hands down for that reason. Can easily spend an entire day here.
The parakeet house brought me so much joy with the feeding sticks. We enjoyed the other birds show with the history of the zoo. There is a nice selection of animals to view and so many activities to enjoy that we look forward to coming back!
Fun place to visit with kids, and has decent park food. Rides are limited, but those riding seemed to enjoy. They currently have a baby lemur that my kiddos watched move about for 15 minutes.
This Zoo was a lot of fun with my two year old daughter. Many animals, rides (that she's unfortunately too small to ride, but offered an opportunity to explain rice safety), and even a bird that said "hi" to her.
She had a great time, therefore I had a great time.
Wonderful experience. The animals have plenty of space to roam, in giant enclosures rather than little cages like some zoos. Watched an employee patiently feed a sloth. We have been to every zoo in New England and this one seems to care most about the animals. The children's rides are an added bonus. The little pavilions came in handy when it began flash flooding on us, we stayed dry while we waited the storm out and watched the walkways a few feet away drain the overwhelming rainstorm. The deer enclosure is massive, like truly walking through a forest.
Pricing wasn't bad. Half off for dad's on Father's Day. Good amount of pets. Not overly crowed. Best part was the deer park. You got to feed the deers and touch them. Bring quarters, it's definitely an experience!
Wow! This place is pretty far off the beaten path but worth it. It's fairly small but feels intimate. You can be very close to the animals! A Jaguar, giraffe, tigers, alligator were all SO CLOSE! The zoo also has a restaurant/tavern we didn't go inside but it looks nice. They also have some carnival type rides. Don't expect six flags but they are good for the 3-7 kids. This place has lots of shade which was awesome for a summer day and they have water misters at a couple spots. There is also a walk thru section where deer come right ho to you and you can feed them, $0.50 buys the corn. Parking was also free which was nice.
Been going here since I was a kid and now I am bringing my own kids. It is large and has tons of animals. All the animals have wonderful habitats and look happy and healthy. A great family experience!
Brought the tickets morning of the trip and it was super easy. My friend wanted to go here for her birthday and she had a blast. I loved the camel ride, sky ride, and petting zoo. Perfect place for a family trip and kids would love it.
The best part is the mostly shaded paths and the deer feeding area. The shade helps in the hottest of days and walking around feeding deer from the hand is quite enjoyable. Be wary of the cash grab that is the kid rides and the absurd maze. Up to $5 to run a maze that could be done in under 5min is a little ridiculous in my opinion.
Took the kids today for the very first time and we all loved it! The animals look healthy and well cared for and the special activities were all fun and easy. No long lines, no large crowds and the stands and food were awesome and reasonably priced. We loved the aviary! Definitely feed the birds! They re so cute! Sky lift is cool, train ride was cool, maze was a hit with the kiddos! Awesome parrots too!
This was the best zoo experience for me Southwick zoo has a lot of animals. It has train safari and sky safari too I'd recommend family's and friends to visit Southwick zoo any time
Best zoo around by far!!! The deer forest is my favorite part. The layout is nice and shady and there's rides for the kids and plenty of restaurants and food shacks when u get hungry.
Great zoo. We loved the experience. Loved that we were still able to interact with the animals. We absolutely loved the deers and being able to feed them and pet them and just hang out with them. The staff were all so very nice and friendly. If we are ever in the area we would definitely go back. Be have already told plenty of people they need to go. We enjoy going to different zoo's everywhere we go and this zoo was definitely one of the great one's. You can also see that the animals are well cared for. And they were well equipped for covid with all the hand sanitizer stations and all. Thank you for what you do
The admission fee was $25 an adult. Free parking. I was actually surprised to see some animals there. They got a BUNCH of different monkeys, kangaroos, rhinos, bulls, zebras, ostriches, tigers. I recommend visiting this bird cage where you walk in and pay a $1 for a popsicle stick with some food for birds. You ll be covered with birds and it s awesome! This cage should be around the monkey and peacock cages. Also the Deer Trail is awesome. They have these stands to get food for deer and you put 2 quarters in into this gum ball type stand and feed the deer while they walk around you. They are smaller type deer so it s safe for kids too. They got lions but the lotions were lazy and sleeping behind the logs so you couldn t really see them. They got a white tiger which was also beautiful. The alligator was probably under the water cuz we didn t get to see it. Seeing a cheetah up close was awesome too. They also have horse and camel rides. Would give 5 stars but the food and good service was below average. Still an awesome place to have a date, bring your kids or have your kids birthday party.
We went on a day when the weather was supposed to be crappy. It had rained earlier on but it was fine while we were there. Most of the rides were closed and some of the animals weren't in their enclosures. It's a nice zoo. They also gave us passes to come back. We haven't been though because it's more than an hour drive for us.
The animals and grounds are extremely well cared for. The prices are reasonable, and they offer a lot of ways to engage children. We participated in a scavenger hunt that offered prizes for all the children that completed it, and we were able to feed goats and watch shows hosted by the staff for free. This is a great place for families with children of all ages, and also great for an adult-only date.
I wasn't sure what to expect walking in, but this place didn't disappoint. It isn't huge but was more than enough for younger kids. The parakeets and the deer were great experiences and the staff around the park did a great job. My only complaint is the rides. There arent a lot but they are such a distraction from some of the really cool animal experiences we had today.
Very well kept animals, friendly staff, clean. There's playgrounds for kids and the prices are great. Not to mention, the place is huge. Definitely worth checking out this time of year (September ish).
Went to this zoo for the first time today (we usually go to Franklin park) with my fiance and my 2 daughters (2yrs old and 10 months old). It was a great zoo offered a lot of things to do for the kids and some animals u don't see at most zoos (like rhinos), only thing we didn't like was there were a lot of hornets flying around which almost stung my 2 yr old a few times so just be careful of those other than that a GREAT zoo!! We will definitely make a return trip!!!
My experiences would fill your hard drive and make it crash!! Beautiful ZOO and beautiful staff working and caring for the residents that live there. MY BEST ADVICE ? Spend the entire day,buy the full pass, Bring a group for a company or family event AND LASTLY ??? Do what you can't do anywhere else in New England !!! ......SEE the REDBAT
This zoo is a fun spot to bring the kids for a day. Lots of things for them to do and a good range of animals. There are a lot of rules for the small kids as well as a few for the older ones. The sky ride is a neat perspective on seeing the animals. The Deer Forest is really neat and it's fun to be that close to the deer. The petting zoo with all the goats is my kids favorite. I do wish some of the animals had a little more space as some of the enclosures are a bit small. The food options in the park aren't the best unless you are willing to go to the restaurant attached to the park. The winter wonderland they do in the winter is a so-so experience. The train let's you see the animals that can be out in the winter but very breifly and you cant go see them on foot. Overall I would recommend this zoo for a fun family outing.
Still a great time even with the current restrictions! It was nice to have a quiet afternoon with the zoo almost to ourselves! The petting zoo is always a favor.
Our family enjoyed a beautiful fall day at the zoo. We were so impressed by the efforts of the staff to maintain an environment that was clean, offered multiple opportunities for sanitizing and reminders for good social distancing practices. The zookeepers and staff were friendly, knowledgeable and child focused. They encouraged the little ones to interact with the goats and instructing how to feed them.
This was first adventure at a family activity during this challenging time and it more than exceeded our hopes of having a fun time with toddlers and adults.
Thank you Southwick for the work you have done to allow for a safe and wonderful experience.
Really nice zoo with a huge variety of animals. Brought my 2 year old here and she had a lot of fun, especially on the pony ride and the deer forest. Once she's old enough she can do the skyfari and zip lines that looked like a lot of fun. We'll definitely be going back.
Great time at the zoo with my sister and niece. Lots of amazing animals and everyone was so friendly. Super amounts of walking... their restaurant is large but comfy. Perfect day!
Took my 1 1/2 yr old grandson. It was the first time at the zoo. He loved the animals. This is my favorite zoo. We haven't been here in many years and I was not disappointed
Visited With My Girlfriend. A Fantastic Experience. Other Than the Slow Moving Admission Lines, We Really Enjoyed Ourselves. The Establishment Is Run Really Well. Very Clean. Great Family Atmosphere. A Notch Above Roger William's. Lot's of Shade. Really Well Designed.
Great place to take the kids . My wife and I actually make it a point now to go alone every year. We have the best time. The monkeys and goats are so precious. Can't say enough.
Food was good. We had chicken tenders, a burger, and fries. Animals were clean and active. We enjoyed our visit. Prices in gift shops were reasonable. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!!
Yesterday myself and two friends visited the zoo. It was such a fun experience. The weather was fantastic. I was really impressed with the cleanliness and that the animals seemed very content. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful . There were many camp groups there and all of the children were so polite and well behaved. When my two sons were little we visited the zoo with my sister in law and my niece and nephew. We enjoyed it then and I am so happy to see the improvements that have been made in the last few years to make a pleasant expierience even better. We hope to get back ther before the end of the summer. Keep up the good work
Awsome day! They are doing a great job with everything during this crazy time. Everyone was friendly and making sure everyone was safe and having a good time with the animals.
Nice zoo, a little expensive, $28 pp, but I can't even begin to imagine how expensive it must be to keep things humming along. So maybe the price is justified. All in all, nice visit.
This is a great zoo for a family with young children. It's not a huge zoo, but it's not tiny either, so definitely take a stroller or baby carrier if you have babies/toddlers. The zoo is spaced out nicely, and it's nice that there are rides and other attractions at the zoo. The little playground was also nice. After being at the zoo for a few hours, we decided to eat at Galliford's. We spent several hours at the zoo and still didn't get to do everything. I would go back again so that we finish seeing and doing everything. The zip line looks extra fun, but it's an extra $12 per person. Maybe next time!
First time I have ever been there, it was fabulous! Very clean, well maintained zoo. ( it was pricey to get in but understandable.) you can get close to the animals. Placards were descriptive with the animals, I felt they could have entailed more about the animals. Bring quarters! You will need them for the deer petting area. The deer love corn! It was amazing being able to feed and pet the deer. Oh also a hiking shoe. A lot of gravely walking paths. There were these cotton ball monkeys, guys your women will fall in love ! I could go on forever, but I ll make the effort to return again soon. P.S. plan your day there, think like an animal. If it s to hot, your not going to see motivated animals. Also make sure when you enter the zoo, get a map! Good Luck!
