A trip back in time. We enjoyed our afternoon at the Minster, staff were friendly and informative. The grounds are nice to have a wander, sit and enjoy the view and there are a few nice walks to do in the area. A lovely little find.

Stunning building. Amazing Norman Nave and some fine examples of the severe Romanaesque style.
Welcoming and knowledgeable stewards.
If only the vast Anglican money cows like Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral would, having fleeced their visitors of large sums of cash, behave less pompously and appreciate the fact that without tourists paying their wages, they probably wouldn't have their jobs. (Priest's and Deans too.)

Historical my beautiful and significant with some very interesting artifacts. The cathedral is very striking. You'll get a lot more from your visit if you study the relevant history covering both the bishopric and civil war.

I was surprised to see such an enormous and beautiful building in such a small town. I went mainly to see the west stained glass window, designed by Patrick Reyntiens, which is magnificent although rather pale in colour compared to some stained glass windows. Some of the guides were more helpful than others and the facilities did not open until 11.00 am. There is evidence of various styles of architecture and lots of historical features.

This beautiful minster never fails to impress me with the atmosphere that is both grand and calm, despite plenty going on. It is not uncommon to hear choir practice and the organ playing during an afternoon visit. It's large and worth exploring, with a recently opened garden area and the chapter house.

I went to the pretty little town of Southwell after visiting the Workhouse and was astonished to see this extraordinary Cathedral, so I had to take a proper look. It's very beautiful - look out for the carvings, known as the "Leaves of Southwell" in the Chapter House - and has rather a relaxed vibe compared to many churches. The Archbishop's Palace and Gardens are worth a stroll too.

I have always meant to visit, my mom always said that we should but with the race course pulling us we didn't. When I did get there it was well worth the wait. The architecture is fantastic, the guide explained about it being an original Saxon church was brilliant. I recommend that everyone should see it at least once, I intend to go back

Beautiful building set in the middle of Southwell. Part Norman with additions at other times. Acoustics in this building are superb. I am a member of Southwell Choral Society. We give all our concerts in the Minster. The staff, both paid and voluntary are wonderful and look after all visitors supremely well.

A very pretty 'large church'. When I visited the Minster their was a three hour service being conducted but that did not detract from the magnificence and beauty of it and the gardens and the Archvishop's palace. A wonderful visit.

Southwell minster is a very worthwhile place to visit.
Part built by the Norman's and then extended several times in later ages to create a lovely cathedral that is full of history. And of course, given the area it's in, Crowell's soldiers had a go at it!

Excellent craft fayre. Lots of stalls, food and drink area with lovely cakes. Well worth a couple of hours. Only downside is difficulty parking but that's normal for Southwell at weekend.

You feel good just sitting there.
Unfortunately , because of lockdown, we cannot enjoy being in the Minster building just now.
I have visited before , when the concerts were on the program.

Fabulous place in a lovely little town. We were allowed to visit during a Sunday service and given some helpful information by a cathedral official (lovely lady with a good sense of humour) Despite the Cathedral appearing diminutive, it is well worth a visit.

A wonderful serene place. Look upwards and see the gargoyles. Amazing. A hugely interesting place. Headstones dating back to the 18th century. Nice gardens fascinating history. Definitely a must visit.

Took a day trip from Nottingham on The Pathfinder to visit the Southwell Minster and was not disappointed. Happened on the annual service to celebrate and bless the animals in our lives - and enjoyed the service. The cathedral itself would have been worth the trip - but this service made it that much more special. Be sure to walk the grounds and wander into the town center while you are here.

Perfect Romanesque minster, lovely modern stained glass, and don't miss the famous carvings in the chapter house, especially the hidden pigs eating the acorns. Good cafe and shop on-site.
