You feel good just sitting there.
Unfortunately , because of lockdown, we cannot enjoy being in the Minster building just now.
I have visited before , when the concerts were on the program.

Lovely cathedral built in Norman times with many stories to tell and volunteers to tell them. Sometimes charity events held and christmas indoor stalls. Bishops palace next door. Used to be open to the public but not sure now. Cathedral always worth a visit and the shop and cafe in the grounds. Southwell is a small market town. Shops, post office and cafes., hotels. Good bus route. Car park small with toilet.

The stone carvings - the leaves of Southwell - are amazing. The new stained glass window, commemorating WW1, is very striking. However, it's a shame to see nothing commemorating the anniversary of women's suffrage, especially given the Church's record.

Southwell minster is a very worthwhile place to visit.
Part built by the Norman's and then extended several times in later ages to create a lovely cathedral that is full of history. And of course, given the area it's in, Crowell's soldiers had a go at it!

Beautiful cathedral. The history behind the Minster is incredibly interesting and the architecture is wonderfully intricate yet simple. The archbishop's palace just across the path is an interesting visit too. You can learn about the history, or just look at the beautiful paintings there. Next to the archbishop's palace is the garden where there are multiple places to sit or wander in the serenity of the plants and wildlife
Toilets are available in the archbishop's palace
