great company with great service. i've waited so long to transfer my old tapes to disc and once i submitted them to southtree i got them back earlier than expected and they were wonderful to see. i'll be sending some more in again real soon.

Amazing scanning company, they are also in the sam...

Amazing scanning company, they are also in the same group as Legacy Box scanning who are a little expensive for what you can get and the quality is nothing compared to Southtree and they are the same. The quality of the photos I got back from Southtree are amazing and I am actually sending a lot of my Legacy box scanning back to southtree so I have better quality.

Southtree is a lot more expensive in my opinion and could drop there prices and still have the same great quality.

I sent them about 150 pictures and slides my parents gave me about child memories, late family members etc. They first scanned only the slides and forgot the pictures. Prompt answer of the customer service, they issued me a shipping label and I sent back the pictures for free.Got them scanned eventually. The scan of the slides was poor: blurry, overexposed scans - a general impression of a job done very quickly with no check. F.i. the picture of me in front of the tomb of my grandpa was backward, like if in Italy they all did mirror writing like Leonardo da Vinci.
They offered me to scan my slides again, I said yes, never heard from them again.

Awesome job by these guys! They converted numerous Hi-8 tapes to DVD. The quality is great. The communications coming from the Southtree team is fantastic. I will definitely use Southtree again.

I sent old tapes that I hadn't been able to see for years. I am very happy with my experience with southtree. They have a very smooth operation set up. I got my box, everything is instructed clearly, shipping is prepaid. They communicated with me during the process, I always knew where my tapes were and what part of the process we were on. They were fast, and not expensive. I recommend 100%. Thank you!

I found out about Southtree through a Groupon email. It was just what I was looking for. I wanted to surprise my wife by converting our 8mm tapes of family videos to dvd's. This email couldn't have come at a better time and it was an awesome deal. I really didn't know what to expect. I was a little nervous about sending my irreplaceable videos of my children through the mail, but the deal was really good and I wanted to do this. I tracked the shipment and once I saw that they received it I was relieved. They sent emails all along the way stating that they received my tapes, were labeling them, they were in production, being packaged and sent. The whole process took a few weeks, I didn't know what to expect being as I had never done this before, so I don't know if this was fast service or normal, regardless, I have my family memories on dvds. I will be using them again, I have a wedding video on vhs that needs to be converted.

I have used Southtree service twice for my vhs to dvd transfers and was really satisfied with this company. I was surprised with how fast I got my dvds and how they kept me posted on how the process was going from receiving my tapes to shipping. Great customer service, Thank you Southtree can't wait for my family to see dvds on Christmas Day.

Southtree did an outstanding job moving audio cass...

Southtree did an outstanding job moving audio cassette tapes of my Dad telling his "story" to CD. He made these tapes years ago, telling tales of his early years at the Citadel, The Naval Academy and his life after the service. Because I know longer have a tape deck I had not heard them in years. Southtree also did a fantastic job keeping me posted along the way on progress, and returned them to me much sooner than I expected. Well Done!

Southtree transferred to CD a 40-year-old reel-to-reel tape of my graduation recital at New England Conservatory. They did a magnificent job! Even though the tape was so old, and hadn't been stored carefully (just thrown in a box and moved around with me for all these years), the sound quality was excellent. Southtree was extremely helpful, and the packing and shipping were perfect. The CDs arrived faster than the time frame listed (I paid for expedited service, and the job was done even sooner than promised). I had never listened to the tape, so I felt as if I'd been given back a part of my life.

I have used Southtree a few times now. My only sibling and little brother passed away a few years ago and i had a box full of his mini-dv tapes but his video camera had broken and i had no way to view his tapes or transfer to my computer so i could use clips in my own little videos I make for him. Southtree has made it possible for me to have these memories. The process is easy and they email you through each process being taken to make your videos. I have had such a positive experience with them on two different occasions that I will be using them, and only them, for any of my video transfer needs for the rest of my life ! They do offer great sales every now and then which made this a possibility :)

Most of the pictures I had converted from slides turned out fairly decent, but many had heads cut off. Also, slides were returned in a jumbled mess that will take hours and hours to sort out. Not happy with the way my memories were treated!

I used Southtree twice for copies of old VHS and also old Hi-8 video onto DVD's. The quality is only superceded by their customer service. They sent me emails each step along the way to keep me posted on the progress of my order and they also graciously handled a special request of mine. The DVD's arrived on time and the quality is fantastic. Overall, a great experience, and I will return to them for any future needs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to you.

I had a wonderful experience with Southtree. The personal contact with each step of my digital transfer was awesome. I was glad to hear that they received my film and had bar coded it, then they were inspecting the tape for damage/care handling, then they were processing it, then they were reviewing it, then they were shipping it, giving my tracking number and all. Glad to do business with them, certainly would do it again.

I had a large number of family videos in 3 differe...

I had a large number of family videos in 3 different formats. Southtree did a tremendous job. It was originally estimated that it would take 6 - 8 weeks to complete the task, However, I now have 52 dvds converted from tape format and all this done in less than a month. I have recommended Southtree to all of my co-workers and will continue to recommend this to anyone interested. I could not be more pleased with this company and will be using again for some additional videos that I found. All in all a GREAT company, fast results, and a fair price.

I had about 1000 slides from the late 1970's and through the 1980's. I used a Groupon to try Southtree with the first set of about 400 to be put on disc. Their customer service is impeccable and totally unexpected. They let me know when the slides arrived, when they were being cleaned and processed, and when they were shipped. Also checked to make sure I got them back. As always, slides look so much more vibrant on screen than in any other media and these were very old slides - so I was prepared to be a little disappointed on that score. I did try the next set at the higher processing rate but the results were no different. Great memories but not the vibrancy of the slides. But I get to enjoy the pictures so much more readily!! Highly recommend Southtree.

Photos and videos are priceless memories of our lives. Southtree made it possible not only to relive those memories but preserve them very well as well. The conversions from VHS to digital and audio cassette tape to digital were high quality; the videos did not show the usual signs of aging, and the music were as crisp as yesteryears'. They also keep you up to date as to the progress of your project and they do so interestingly, humorously and consistently. Southtree actually missed to convert two of the most important VHS tapes so I sent them back for conversion and they did so with no additional fee including shipping back and forth. I am very pleased with Southtree's service and will definitely strongly consider Southtree again once I have my hands on my trunkload of old photos, videos and music.

I had several VHS-C tapes that I've wanted to copy to disc for years. When I received a coupon from Southtree I was hesitant, since I did see some negative reviews. However my concerns were unfounded. Their service was swift (less than 2 weeks) and the disc copies were of very good quality. My original tapes were returned safe and sound. I was very pleased with their service.

I have used Southtree multiple times to convert our old family VHS tapes to DVDs, as well as my father's old 8mm film. Everything turned out beautifully and was completed in a very professional and timely manner! I would recommend using Southtree for all of your conversion needs. We are looking at next using them for old polaroid slides which we just found in my grandmother's basement! Cannot wait to get them converted...

Just received my order back from Southtree and aft...

Just received my order back from Southtree and after quite a long wait (Covid?) I am appalled to see the poor quality of the job. I have sent Super 8 color films and what I got back is really far from the original. Dark, oversaturated and grainy and low resolution. I had the very same films scanned to DVD at Costco and the quality was far better. I cannot blame the original films since they are in very good shape. Frankly, I spend about $100 and was expecting a professional output. The files I got look like scanned with an amateur film scanner. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

One of the worst customer service experiences I've...

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I had 20 tapes converted to DVDs. The quality of 75% of them was good, while the rest were not acceptable. The Thumb Drive that I had ordered was missing from the order. I was instructed to return everything so they could re-do the 4 unacceptable DVDs and make the Thumb Drive. Again the order was wrong. While the 4 re-done DVDs were good, the Thumb Drive only had those 4 DVDs on it, not the entire 20 DVDs as ordered. I again was instructed to return all 20 tapes and corresponding DVDs to have the Thumb Drive made. I just received the box from them. Again, there is NO THUMB DRIVE. The customer service rep that I dealt with had assured me that my order would be personally reviewed and the error would not occur again. I am finished with this company. There are better options out there.

We sent Southtree over 20 of our old home videos to transfer. The cost was very reasonable, the turnaround time was fast and the CDs they provided were great! It was amazing to see all those old home movies again! We gave most of them to my mom as a Christmas present and spent some time during the Christmas holidays watching them with family. Other family members have since sent their videos to Southtree to convert to CDs. I highly recommend them! Oh - and they keep you notified throughout the process. We received an email when they received the videos; then during the process letting us know they were working on them; then when they were almost done; and lastly, when ready to ship. It was great getting the updates along the way.

I have used Southtree twice in the past few months and was very happy with their service. They did a good job keeping me updated along the way and the final result has been a blessing for my family. My only suggestion was that they use a different carrier to ship the DVDs back to me- that process took longer than it needed to. I would definitely use them again.

I used Southtree to convert slides to ditigal media and they did a fantastic job. My initial order was small, a test of sorts, and I have since sent a much larger order to them for conversion. It has been great to view these old slides in a new larger format. Old memories come alive. Thanks to Southtree for their outstanding service.

I purchased a Groupon years ago and forgot about it and not only did they honor it with no problem (I didn't think they were going to since it had been close to 7 years), the lady I spoke with was so help and nice. Customer care was exceptional! Nice to see a company that cares about the customer!

Southtree was very prompt,courteous and reliable. Both my wife and I had them do work for us, my wife had video and had audio both of which were over half century old.
Both of us very pleased with the end result. Anyone requesting their services for this type of work will not go wrong.

Quick service - I used a Groupon to purchase scanning of mixed old photos to disc. I had expected them to hit the images with a color correct, but all they do is scan the photos. All in all, they did a good job, but I've since found cheaper services without using a Groupon and they will do some basic editing along with scanning. But all in all, I was delighted to not have to do the scanning myself.

After seeing an offer by Southtree, I went ahead and sent my old tapes to be transferred to discs. I had no idea what was on these tapes. The whole process of mailing the tapes and getting the discs back was super easy. I was kept updated about the process and it was quicker than I expected. They did a great job and I am having a lot of fun watching my old movies.

Sent away years of old memories and Southtree converted them to CDs that will bring many years of enjoyment. Prior to this I had not looked at these 8mm for 20 years or more. Truly enjoying them now. I highly recommend Southtree as the submission was easy and they kept me up-to-date as my old tapes went through the conversion process. Turn-around was timely.

I sent Southtree a simple tape to CD transfer project as a first time customer using a deal I found on Groupon. After receiving updates via email all along the way, I thought things were going rather smoothly and was impressed with the company at first. The last email even stated that their techs were looking over their work to make sure everything was right before shipping it out. Unfortunately, nothing has gone right since.

The CD(s) I received were missing entire songs as well as some songs being split over multiple tracks. How anyone worth their salt in A\V production could have checked my project over, found that, and then put a stamp of approval on it I will never understand.

I called immediately for return instructions. After being told that they had deleted the source files and would need my original tape to remedy the problem, Southtree emailed me out a call tag. Upon receiving and checking my project over, they then emailed me back a confirmation that mentioned something about a DVD. Well, right away I was leery since my project was not at all a DVD transfer, so I called to make sure everything would be done right and shipped out in enough time before Christmas (after all, this was to be a gift to multiple people). An employee by the name of "Katie" assured me that the techs were busy reworking my project and that it would arrive via priority shipping by Christmas eve.

Some days after Christmas had passed and my project finally arrived (for the second time), I was doubly dismayed to find that there were only 2 tracks on the CD's, each track having multiple songs on them. What a terrible disappointment! Upon calling Southtree for an explanation, Katie told me the reasoning behind putting multiple songs on one track was to eliminate the problems I had experienced before, namely the track splitting and omissions.

As I was quick to tell Katie, anyone with even the most basic background in A/V production knows this is a totally unacceptable solution, not to mention taking the lazy man's way out. A real professional would have adjusted their equipment thresholds for gaps of silence in between and during songs. Should taking that measure not fully work, the technician ought to have fine tuned the parameters until the final result was one song per track as it should be. This is a time consuming ordeal, and the whole reason I farmed out the project to a third party to begin with!

At this point, it was painfully obvious to me that no one at Southtree could be bothered to do their jobs right.

After speaking with a supervisor ("Josh"), I was told that he would check to see whether or not they had actually gotten rid of the source files for my project and, should that be the case, he would then have to send yet another call tag out for me to return my tape so that the job could be done. If not, they could reproduce the CD using the same files. (Hours later, I'm still waiting for that email).

In any event, Josh apologized and politely offered to refund my money, saying how sorry he was that my experience with Southtree had ended up being such a poor one.

Long story short: the sound quality of the tracks I did receive was very good. The customer service is an abomination (average hold time to speak to a human being was around 10 minutes each time I called). Quality control? Non-existent. This seems to be a case of a young company with young employees in desperate need of some seasoning when it comes to follow through. Hopefully, my debacle will be a lesson in customer service Southtree can and will learn from. Sadly, I'll be taking any future business of mine elsewhere.

Update 1/8/15: Received the refund. Josh said they still had the source files and could redo the project without my having to send the original tape back in. Just received the new CD's. End result? STILL WRONG!!! Missing tracks/split tracks all over again just like the first time. I'll be calling to talk to the owners tomorrow.

I placed an order on July 1. Today is September 22. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is because the customer service department was very apologetic and did try to assist in getting my order right; it unfortunately never happened. This is the final email I sent to Southtree, regarding my order:

Hi Jessica,

This email is to confirm that I don t want a return for my current issue. Incidentally, I do hope that someone in customer service shares my poor experience with management. I think that when you are dealing with something as precious as someones memories and family history, more care should be taken with the product than even a regular purchase. And in my case, it definitely was not. I shouldn t have had to send my order back 3 times to still not get it right almost three months later. I shouldn t have received a dvd with footage that wasn t my family. It should be explained in the initial order process that if you are ordering dvd s and digital copies, that you should receive 2 sets of discs. And it should be unacceptable that an order goes out with missing discs, or no discs at all. Imagine a customer opening a box they have returned three times already and still not having all of the discs they ordered. Unacceptable.

If I had known that this experience would be so poor, I would NEVER have sent any of my videos to Southtree. I would NEVER had bought the groupon in the first place. And the fact that I have well over 2500 photos that I also want to capture digitally, I will be very careful who I send them to. I want to say that I thought the customer service department was very helpful, nice and truly apologetic the mishandling of my order so many times. The problem is definitely in your production department. They are not reading notes I took the time to write, and they are not checking the order in the box before they ship it out. I m sure, I m not the first or last person that you will hear complain about this, but hopefully you will take some of my words to heart and perhaps relook at the way things are being done around there and try to improve the quality control so that another customer doesn t have to go through what I have been through.

I sent in some slides and got them back in a decent amount of time. I was very impressed with how they updated me with every step (when they got the product, the cleaning, shipping, etc). I will definitely be using them in the future.
