I entered the A&E department on Friday at 7.45pm due to severe leg pain and the inability to walk properly.
What I witnessed was like something out of a war zone, people sat on the floor throwing up because there were not enough seats, patients crying in pain, a man sat underneath the reception desk shouting obscenities for over 20 minutes before he was removed. Truly shocking for what is supposed to be a modern medical system.
At 11pm, after waiting over 3 hours to see a doctor I was finally called in, my initial impression was somewhat optimistic as bloods were taken for suspected cellulitis and an x-ray taken. I was told it would take about an hour for the results to come through. In the meanwhile I was told to wait in the children's area because of how full the waiting room was, here I could clearly hear other patients consults, patients confidentiality was therefore not protected.
At 3am, over 7 hours after entering in the A&E my results finally came back with an inconclusive diagnosis of possible cellulitis or physical trauma, I was prescribed antibiotics, however my severe pain score of 8/10 was not addressed and I was only offered co-codamol and naproxen which I was already taking to no effect, the doctors did not follow best practice and NICE guidelines regarding the pain ladder, tramadol or morphine should have been the drug of choice. Furthermore no walking aids such as crutches were offered so I was discharged in severe pain causing more and more damage to my leg with every step.
When I was back in the waiting room I witnessed medical staff dump a man with a clearly impaired mental status in a wheelchair in the middle of the room. He then attempted to leave his wheelchair, fell over and his pants fell down. Patient dignity was not respected.
Furthermore the toilets were in an unsanitary condition.
So to summarise, the care was inadequate, patient confidentiality was not protected, and patient dignity was not respected. If I were the CQC I would rate this A&E department as inadequate in all areas. Absolute hell on earth.
Went to a&e to get my 21 month old toddler checked out. Got there at 2am left at 5am. Witnessed staff on breaks and not many staff on shift. There wasn't many people waiting either.
This hospital is filthy. Even the nurse told us to sit away from other patients in waiting area as there were unsavoury kinds. When we finally got to see the doctor my toddler being curious walked over to a bin in the room and the doctor said not to touch as its covered in blood and it was! the floor was filthy, just shocking.. hospital needs a LOT of money spent on it, totally understand why the staff dont seem like they want to be there. I would never visit this hospital again which is a shame since the nurse and doctor we had were very knowledgeable and good with our son.
Had my baby daughter here recently, serenity suite staff are amazing.
Looked after me and my partner and were helpful with advise and support around the clock while we were there.
Worst service ever in maternity ward specially in triage.. my misses had contractions every 3 minuts and painful and she phone triage explain everything they call her in and when we redhead there about 8 pm the old lady sitting at reception of triage talk to us rudely and she was miserable said to my wife you come so early, did you run.. they don't care about patients at all...
Worst experience ever the staff are so rude especially pam Casey on m1! So annoyed they think thy doing a favour 4us by looking after patients! Iam so disappointed sandwell was so much better. Pam makes a face because my niece couldn't understand english very gud whose only new in this country! Then all she kept asking was where is the dad like wats it got to do with u!
Waiting times can be a bit excessive, but if you can get passed the barrier of your GP and make it to the hospital, you'll be treated extremely well by concerned, professional staff.
City eye hospital. I would give it 0 if I could, waste of time, would happily let you go blind just so they can go home on time.
