Very clean venue. Friendly staff. Great overall experience
Wonderful venue for concerts and shows. Staff is very friendly, acoustics are pleasing to the ear.
Concert venue with great acoustics and line of site to the stage. Drinks were very expensive but that is to be expected at such a venue.
Aesthetically beautiful and acoustically amazing in equal measure.
Chosen by David Gray for his Gold in a Brass Age tour and he knows a thing or two about great theatre...and great theatres!
If you get the chance to enjoy a show here take it!
Hadn't been here in a long time, really enjoyed my experience, love the acoustics.
She'll always be the O'Keefe Center to me, because her heart beats the same. See you next year Design Thinkers!
The staff I spoke to were easy to talk to and very understanding. I had to make a merch exchange and I was expecting to have a hard time at the door. But no, they were all aware I d be coming and made the process so easy for me. I was incredibly surprised at their organization, and very grateful for their help. And of course I enjoyed the musical I got to see the night before
Tight, uncomfortable seating and heating turned up too high. Also, the lines for concessions both beforr show and during intermission were way too long.
Saw Amadeus live here this week. Good theater but not the most comfortable seating for a long performance , especially if you are tall. The venue itself worked well for the show (film and orchestra) and the location is very convenient for public transit.
Small seats In mezzanine no leg room. Over priced beverages of course tell me why a bottle of water is $4 and a can of pop Is $3. There isn't a bad view In this place though only positive thing.
Facility is fine but the parking garage was a disaster. They don't post a full sign so you drive all the way to the end to find out there's no parking and have to turn around and exit in tight quarters.
Always great sound, are good sightlines. Easy to get around, but bathrooms on the upper level are way too small.
Had first 'no cell phone' show last night and loved it. Was so nice to see the band instead of glowing phone screens. Only thing was needed better/larger area for cell phone zone for between acts.
The prices of the food and drinks are very overpriced but the whole experience of the theater was great
The show was supposed to start at 8. It started after 8:30.
Sound quality is fantastic. Staff are good and friendly. But there is a little space between rows and people can't leave their seat without disturbing others get them up. More importantly, after 30 and even 45 minutes, the doors were still open and people were comming standing up in corridors in and looking for their seat and blocked the view.
Went to see a live podcast in the orchestra section and the theatre was nicer than I expected. They play chimes for you when the show is about to start so you can get to your seats, and they had very friendly ushers to help in the dark. Audio was tremendous because of the acoustic foam that's all over the walls. Drinks were about 10 dollars which is pricey but they had multiple bars which kept the lines moving
Good venue for most shows. The seating is good in that the stage is visible from everywhere but the rear of the orchestra section is a bit removed. For some reason the concessions were only open on the first floor (1 location) which meant very long lines to get drinks and snacks.
Nice place for a show, great acoustics, staff was a little overbearing/irritating during the show (they kept telling everyone "no flash" and "no video" even though the performer encourages and likes video, and we're walking around during the show glaring at people). But they were not as bad as some places I've been.
Well, the sound is good and so are the sight lines. It's sprawling though better than an arena. Liquor prices are silly but you know that. Hate the way ushers escort mobs of late arrivals with their (the ushers) intense flashlights.
Fantastic prices, great atmosphere and friendly service.
Definitely a recommendation for a quaint pub in the heart of the downtown core.
Beer selection could be more extensive but it's fitting with the pub style.
Great venue for almost anything. We saw David Blaine there and it was perfect for his close up magic. Been there for stand up comics and kids shows. Great for all. Not sure about loud concerts thought. Parking is very easy. Lots of parking lots around and plenty of places to eat before or after a show.
Went for a graduation ceremony. Took public transit as location is downtown and congested with traffic.
Auditorium is attractive and very large.
It would help if seating area was more sloped as hard to see around people sitting in front of us.
Hope to get back there for a theatre or dance performance.
Lots of parking nearby which makes the venue easily accessible and hosts many great performances/performers. I love that you can see a play or a concert here and it makes you feel like you're having a fancy night out and staff was very friendly.
Great place for concert!!! Access was easy with convenient parking
awesome music venue. great sound. not a bad seat in the house.
Been here a few times for some great performances. A fantastic hall with very friendly service.
Its a good place to visit for a function.
I attended a convocation ceremony of George brown college.
A very decently maintained building.
Washroom well cleaned.
Parking place not available I guess.
Good venue for the show. Waiting areas could use some work on temperature control.
the best venue for concerts! I mean if its at Meridian hall ( former Sony Center ) I definitely reconsider, knowing the sound will be perfect. all the seats have a decent view to the stage as well. there are variety of parking around just walking distance away.
A friend and I saw Dane cook here a few weeks ago, the venue is pretty classy and the performance went well. The show ran pretty smoothly but it's definitely a smaller and much cozier theatre than others I've been to.
The Illusionists was a fantastic show. The seats we had were great.
I would give 5 star for the Alberta Ballet performance I watched few years ago. But later I watched Outside looking-in, it ruined my experience, although that wasn't this theatre's fault. I stayed almost an hour, but those kids performed less than 15 min I think. The rest of the time is all playing the interview of teachers, founders, program developers... Hey, those kids finally got a chance to perform on stage, they spent days and nights on rehearsals, this program just promoting itself and doesn't really care about their kids. They're using their kids to bring attention and funds.
Needs renovations to bring to 21st century but sounds great.
I like this venue. Its smaller and good views all around. Kind of makes you feel like your back in school in an auditorium
Jimmy Carr was fantastic... venue is really really good.
Love this venue. Many amazing shows here, especially TLOZ Symphony of the Goddesses twice.
Great venue, great staff. Can see great in any seat in the house.
Went for the Avril Lavigne concert in October and it was so nice in there
The Sony Centre is a quality high class establishment. I allways enjoy partisipating in a activity inside the Sony Centre. Any entertainment is enhanced by the quality of the Sony Center.
Watched Harry Potter - Prisoner of Azkaban live orchestra concert here. AMAZING experience.
Great place to see a show! Comfortable chairs and not a bad seat in the house. Can't beat the acoustics
Saw Marianas Trench there. Great sound, comfortable seating, and great experience!
Great place for a gig. Comfortable seating, great sound.
Just okay, very few food options/no hot food. Very cramped seating with extremely little leg/foot room- worse than any airplane. Tall people will struggle to position feet and you literally have to walk on others feet to enter or exit your seat.
It's Sony centre, It's cool. Beautiful Place, Great Service, amazing staff.
Exquisite! The place where I've seen some of my most niche shows in town! Good visibility even if you sit far from stage
Not a bad seat in the house. Everything I've been to here has been fantastic.
Saw Herbie Hancock here. The theater is really nice, the seats could have slightly higher backs to make them more comfortable.
Lovely venue, but the concessions prices are exorbitant.
Excellent acoustics; lovely foyer. Just tries a bit too hard to be posh and hip at the same time.
Also, I hate when companies buy the names of places like this. It will always be the O'Keefe Centre (which was named this not because of O'Keefe beer, but because E.P. Taylor liked the name. Go figure.)
Was a wonderful experience. The program Jehovah's Witnesses put on was like a class act Broadway musical. Facilities were comfortable and bathrooms awesome. Great job to the staff who made everything so welcoming and comfortable.
Sony Centre is a nicely located area. Fairly large that can sit a lot of people ( we attended the Distant Worlds symphony). However there are limited beverage and food choices and the seats are pretty cramped and outdated.
It's good for a short concert but it will get uncomfortable after a time.
Great venue with lots of space inside and out, and comfortable seats. Came for the annual Breakin' Convention and it was great
