I arrived here Tuesday the 3rd, since finding food at a place with a ton of restaurants has not been easy. Things are not always open there hours are wrong, you ask about what is open and they tell you places that are not. I went to the point last night with a reservation (oh yeah those are required) and was seated and NEVER served. I left and went off the resort to eat 3 amigos great service and good food, but should not of had to do this. I paid a lot for an all inclusive resort and so far a horrible experience.

Update, food here is not good, lunch at the palms grill, nice views but dont get the steak and cheese so tough cold barely eat it, tastes like frozen steak strips. Fries were ok.

Luxurious hotel but rooms really lacking in cleanliness !! Yet the cleaning lady came by every day but we found hair and dust on the ground. Very cold tiled floor and no slippers provided
Air conditioning present throughout the hotel at 18degres while the exterior is at 31degres. Very disagreeable !

However very appreciable breakfast buffet!
Nice location

Sonesto is still under construction. The lobby looks about 90% finished but the rest of the building is very much under works. The hallways on my floor looked dirty at times probably because they are working while guests paid to stay there.

The elevators malfunctioned a few times skipping floors that were actually pressed. They also did not level to the floor when walking into them. That is actually dangerous and violation of many building codes. It hurt my friend's foot once.

The staff is very friendly and nice but not knowledgeable. Simple things like connecting to the wifi some of them didn't know how to do.

The cafeteria breakfast was actually awful. I just don't understand how anyone could make omelettes or spinach taste awful. Must be the fake liquid eggs!

Overall they need to finish construction before opening up for business. They also need a Facilities Manager and Engineers on site. It's evident they don't have either as they're dropping the ball with small simple things.

When I went to Sint Maarten to stay at Sonesto Mah...

When I went to Sint Maarten to stay at Sonesto Maho Beach Resort and Casino, I didn't know that it was going to be the opposite of what I thought it was. First off, the food wasn't so great. The pizza was the only good thing that they had. Even though there are lots of locations to eat food there, half of the restaurants never open and almost all of the food from the restaurants (but the pizza) taste horrible! Next, the hotel looked and was really ugly. If you got an old room like me, then it must of had been a bad experience, too. It also stunk a lot. From the entrance to my room pretty high from the lobby, it stunk! Then, there is music playing outside your hotel room and you can't sleep! The music isn't quiet and soothing, but instead it was loud and annoying. But, the reason I rated this experience 2 stars instead of 1 or -1, is because of the water. I really enjoy swimming with lots and lots of hard waves that push you so far, you feel like you are flying on the waves! The more shallow, the better and stronger waves you get. Also, for those good swimmers, the ocean water (That tastes like salt, but you get used to it) gets deep, quick! So it's faster to have fun (There is a shallow pool but who knows how many people peed in that pool). But all in all, the water is just one chapter of the story, and there are so many bad parts that I didn't include on this review. That's why my family and I left 6 nights earlier! I know, call us crazy, but that's who we are, and this vacation (or nightmare) was not for us!

The place is very new and nice. Unfortunately, it is not worth the price you pay. The price is way too much, its a very small space for the hotel. Not much places to visit within the hotel. The beach/ocean is very wavy and dangerous. We went to another beach near the hotel (10 minutes walk) that was much more calm... But you have to pay 5$ US for each long chair/beach umbrella you want. The service is overall pretty so so.... I have been to Cuba about 8 times and the people serve you with so much joy and happiness its great. Here... Everyone just seems tired of being there. They go to bring our drinks... It takes 15 minutes. They bring our food with no forks ???!!! I was expecting so much more out of this place since i have heard so many good things. But this is just really sad and not worth as much as 2000$ for a regular price. Good thing we got a much better deal. The view is spectacular tho. The planes landing and leaving is breathtaking. The entertainment is... Very poor. It is never very clear what kind of show they have and it's mostly all out of the hotel (either next to it or across the Street) so we always wonder if we have to pay for things or not. Alcool is so cheap is amazing ! You can buy a bottle of Vodka that costs 50$ in Montreal for .... 2 for 22$. Its unbelievable. Hope this review helps !

Beautiful property and for the most part very friendly staff. We went in July which is not their peak season. There were small crowds but not too much to enjoy our honeymoon peacefully. The Azul restaurant is a very romantic place for dinner by candlelight. The menu selections may not be for everyone as the "chef's selections" are your only options and it was challenging for me since I do not eat seafood. Our suite was modern and very comfortable, has all the amenities needed with room to stretch out. A few beers, sodas, and water are stocked in the mini frig. Ray escorted us full of charm and hospitality. Thank you Alfred for accommodating our room request you were very kind. Damion at the Sunset Bar welcomed us as if we were old friends on our first night. We ate majority of our meals at the Terrace buffet and it was pretty good, they really know to grill chicken- almost as good as my hubby. This was a special retreat at worth every penny!

Staff are super nice and accommodating. Hotel.still needs a lot of improvements. Food ran out too quickly. No local fruits offered. There is a store outside the resort but super expensive as well. Everything is in USD. NO icecream available on the entire resort. Some folks were nice to let us know one of the restaurants do offer but you have to ask..when we.did ask there was always none available. Limited restaurants to eat.

We are staying here now and usually dont leave reviews but having a horrible experience. Food is terrible when we can find food. Our room phone doesn't work to get room service. Said they will send maintenance and they never came. Nowhere to find food between 1030 and noon. Said they will be open for lunch at 12 and at 12:20 still not open. Waiters and bartenders can be rude. Giving at a 2 star because housekeeping is great and the resort is beautiful despite these other horrible experiences.

So I have only been here less than 24 hours and after reading reviews prior to my trip I felt compelled to start my review process. Do not let the bad reviews stop you from planning a vacation here. Upon a arrival we were greeted with fruit punch and some bites. Checkin was a very smooth process. Rooms were ready and they are very clean and brand new. The hotel is operating at 100 after hurricane Urma. The staff is very polite and friendly going above and beyond. Making reservations for the restaurants was very easy. I suggest you book as soon as you arrive using the automated machine near the front desk. The food is great and the pizzas are to die for. The view is lovely. A beautiful atmosphere. I will post some pics and come back for a final review after my stay is over...

We spent 2 nights here on our recent visit to St. Maarten. We loved the location as it is a 5 minute ride from the airport. This also allows for some awesome views of the planes landing over Maho Beach. The hotel itself is in need of some renovations as the lobby is dated and so was our room. Speaking of the room make sure you ask for an Ocean view as all the rooms on the back of the hotel overlook their sewage treatment plant, not very pretty. We found alot of the staff here to be lacking in good customer service skills. Their were some exceptions such as Sharon the day manager at the Palm Grille, several times she went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our dining there. Do yourself a favor and make the trek over to Mullett Bay beach for the day to enjoy the view, the ocean and the chicken and ribs from Rosies beach bar. We spent 3 more days at Ocean Point which is on the same property and would suggest that over this property as it is much more modern and private and better staffed by folks who will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your visit.

I would suggest anyone traveling alone or flying through St. Maarten to avoid this hotel. Their staff is very unprofessional and would have no problem giving your room to someone else who is willing to stay for more nights. Your reservation means nothing to them.I was denied a room despite having a confirmed reservation online. They tried to downgrade me and put me in a different room; I asked for the difference in price to be returned to me and the manager said No. I was asked to go find another hotel since I was single and had a reservation for only 1 night. This, despite being a repeat customer.

This is honestly the worst resort I ve ever been to. It smell like a waste facility. They have maybe three bartenders for the whole resort. Don t even bother making reservations because they still don t seat you on time. Unless you win an even amount at the casino, you can t cash out. They don t stock your fridge regularly. It s all inclusive because the service is so terrible you just give up.

The place is good despite the renovations are not completed. The rooms are super clean and everything is new. We eat well even if the choice is not very varied. The employees are friendly. The hotel is in a great location, everything is nearby. It is possible to go out in the bars and restaurants of the area, 1 minute walk. There is a free shuttle to Mullet Bay.

A lot of pleasure. The beach was superb in mid-August. It was downtown on the English side. Everything is beside. Even a pharmacy as needed. Avoid taxis, take one at least for a day as they know everything that happens on the island. Car hire recommend, you can find deals for as little as $ 20 a day or less. It makes you bitter to visit the French side. Food is very good, show on the beach according to the evening. My bartender: Nigel from Jamaica will take care of you. Please, well tiper the cleaning staff ... they receive a small amount ... all the staff elsewhere. Have fun anyway you will have no choice. - #yulrumfest

Arrived at the resort on 6/12/2019 and I'm staying until 6/18/2019. If you're looking for a good all inclusive resort, do not stay here. This place posts pictures of the neighboring resort and they give you a map including these things, then when you arrive you learn that you can only access a small area (basically a pool, a small beach, a few restaurants and a casino across the street). You must have a reservation to eat at any of the restaurants (excluding buffets) in which you need to use your room number which you don't receive until check in. We tried to go to dinner our first night but the only two open restaurants are booked all week other than Friday and Monday, meaning we have to settle for the buffet every other day, day in and day out unless we go to town and buy dinner (which defeats the purpose of an All-Inclusive). One of the hostesses was kind enough to seat us without a reservation which was appreciated. On top of that, restaurants/buffets are closed when they're scheduled to be open and THERE IS NO ROOM SERVICE other than basic room cleaning. Guests from the other resort are allowed to access the areas in this one but we are not allowed there so the already small space gets even smaller. In addition, the complimentary WiFi is so bad its border-line unusable. I tried to watch Netflix and the quality wouldn't get higher than 480p and it kept freezing. (For the tech guys, the speed is about 0.8mbps, tested this on speedtest.net) In order to use internet we would need to pay 16$ a day for the premium access. We upgraded to premium and the speed only increased to 1.8mbps but at least now we can watch movies at night. Its also supposed to be a Beach Resort but the Beach is only about 20-30 Lounge chairs, which again, is shared/occupied by guests from the neighboring resort. People will leave their towels on the chairs very early in the morning and be gone for hours at a time. For the first day and a half whenever we went to get drinks there hasn't been any fruit to go with them, such as limes or lemons.
Spa is incredibly overpriced and there is no jacuzzi/hot tub.
For my personal preference, I went with the "Premier" island view. Upon entering my room I went to the balcony to take in the view. In the distance there are nice looking mountains, but the majority of the view includes a dilapidated building, a very messy and unsightly roof and a full dirt lot that looks like a demolition took place and all the debris was left there. I understand that they are just reopening after the hurricane but I wouldnt have paid extra knowing the view does not match the pictures. There is no bathtub, just a shower without a door. So if you decide to take a shower be ready to mop the floor. Also, for my room, the light in the bathroom flickers when turned on as well as the lights above the bed.
.
In conclusion I do not recommend staying here. If anything spend the extra money and stay at Sonestas neighbouring resort, Ocean point. You gain access to significantly more resort and they have features you would expect from an All Inclusive. The most dissatisfying thing I've experienced here is feeling like a second class citizen compared to those at Ocean Point.

We gave this resort 4 stars after reading all the ...

We gave this resort 4 stars after reading all the negative reviews you must keep in mind that people are much more likely to write a negative review than a positive one. Out of nearly 4,000 Trip Advisor reviews only 400 were bad or terrible that is 10% so with that being said.

First the only reason I gave this resort a 4 is that I feel like there is a little more that could be done in the way of information given to make sure you maximize your vacation for instance a map with hours and names of the restaurants menus etc included with the package, they do have a weekly planner of sorts but its pretty limited on info. Next would be for the dated look of the resort but I realize they are working on that.

There are some extra friendly folks who do a great job and are a great face for this resort "Mini Shaq" at the front desk as we referred to him was amazing and very helpful he is well placed at being a first point of contact. Ramon at the pool bar is amazing I have no idea how he puts up with all the requests and people all day everyday and does it with grace JOB WELL DONE my friend. There is a lady with Security that worked the beach access on 10/18 the night of the beach BBQ and I forgot to get her name but she has lived on the island for 29 years and is originally from Jamaica she is outstanding, she took the time to talk with us about the island the culture and was very in tune to keeping us and my little one safe, she watched us carefully as we ventured on the beach with our little one during high seas. (which we should have reconsidered but that is a another story) Eddie and Byran??? I believe the second name is correct were great bell-hops and again a great face for the resort. I would rate this experience especially traveling with two children one being 12 and the other only 1 very accommodating everyone was very kind and over extended themselves to accommodate us traveling with an infant.

Lastly I must say that if you book this resort you must keep in mind it is one of the oldest resorts of its size on the entire island they are undergoing renovations to update rooms etc. The rooms were not of Hilton quality but they were large enough to accommodate a family of four and they were clean. We were on a street side/island view and with a 1 year old and he managed to sleep through what some negative reviews called noisy street side, club casino garb. So I think the negative reviews come from folks that are accustomed to a different caliber of all-inclusives.

Oh yeah the food... we felt like the food was similar to cruise ship quality as far as the buffets, grills and pubs. We did not eat at the fine dining restaurant but heard only good things about it while we were there. The staff in these restaurants were pleasant and accommodating. Aspoct Pub is a hidden gem we did not eat there until night 6 of our stay it was not crowded at dinner time and the food was all gluten and or vegan and was delicious.

I do not like to be the bearer of bad news, but if you can, please avoid this resort at all costs. Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of positives....nice beach, good staff, pool is good, and some of the restaurants like the Italian restaurant is really nice. But where do I start with the negatives? If you are going for breakfast, get there early cause after 9:30, you will be fighting for scraps with everyone else. I never seen a resort run out of food ever in my life. Some places despite telling you that they are open, the kitchen itself is not open and you have to wait for food.

Just came back from 7 day inclusive and had low expectations due to the reviews online. However we were pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. I thought the pros were: the view of the planes, the resort was easy to navigate and well laid out, great pool and clubhouse for kids, updated rooms, friendly service (for the most part), gorgeous views from all restaurants, proximity to the airport, mullet bay, shopping and casino proximity, nightly entertainment is good, and lots of drink selections. The cons were: the mattress was hard as a rock, construction still in process, you must reserve all restaraunts, food was sub par (but you wont go hungry), the walls are thin and you can hear people talking in halls, the drinks are not consistent from bar to bar (but PLENTIFUL), buffet food was hit or miss (breakfast was the best), must reserve chairs and they allow folks to place a towel and inevitably they never come back (however we always found a great spot). With any vacay there is good and bad but this place was definitely not as bad as past reviewers have said (in my opinion)! I wish I would have gone to mullet bay a few more time since then shuttles are free and the beach is gorgeous and calm. We also suggest taking the public bus at 2 bucks a head and driving through town. The wine and liquor choices were not always the same but there were always good options and not bottom of the barrel. The staff was great and edmundo aka superman was awesome. He got us settled in quickly and helped with an adjoining room for family. Also special thanks to the amazing bar tender Nigel who made my daughter wonderful strawberry drinks and always greeted her with a smile! She was in love when we left!! Dont be scared off by reviews. The good outweighed the bad.

It's a great place to have a desconexion and delicious vacations. Went there for business, but could enjoy a good part. There's a great lovely and kind staff. The pool has slides and sadly it's only for kid (7-15 years old). There are always activities offered to guests so you can have good fun. FOOD IS AMAZING, you can tried around 4 restaurants or go the buffate, which always was really good. Rooms are modern and clean. It's close to Maho Beach where you can see planes landing, many people feels this for fun because of the jetblast.

Not very fan of casinos, but there is a cool one.

Great location, nice pool, but staff and service are bad. Noro virus seems to like to visit this place, just look on TripAdvisor. Husband got sick from dinner for the last 2 days of a 5 night stay. Staff are surly zombies who never smile or even say good morning or evening .. rooms dated but clean, but our water pressure in the room was so bad that we had to use the ice bucket to rinse off in the shower.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY!!!! Here's why..............1. In order to get great food, you will have to leave the resort. 2. The drinks are watered down and the "top shelf/brand name" liquor isn't the REAL liquor. If you want real liquor to purchase it at the airport. 3. Rooms NOT CLEANED... the maids ONLY make your bed and take your trash out. The trash on the floor will REMAIN on the floor.

The casinos are walking distance, the club is across the street. I strongly recommend this hotel for family, friends, newlyweds. You will have a great time.

After reading the reviews I was a bit apprehensive...

After reading the reviews I was a bit apprehensive to book rooms with them. But after being there I can happily say that things have changed for sure as management changed whilst we were there. The lethargic people especially the guy at the pool bar was thrown as he was used to serving customers who gave him generous tips and was rude. The feedback is not biased & personal at all. Below is the list

1. There are 4 restaurants instead of 5 mentioned on their website. 2 restaurants Jings & Ascot pub respectively are located outside the property and are open only on few days. Wasn t able to book Ascot . The food and the chef Sejpal at Jings are the winner. The servers at Palm grill are lazy & especially one of them took ages to serve us food for lunch. The barbecue on the beach at palm grill restaurant just happened once a week during our stay. So don t recommend it. The pizzeria is a part of Ocean terrace buffet style restaurant thus making it 4 restaurants. The ocean terrace is the best which serves buffet & all the servers go out of their way to serve you & make sure the guests are looked after well. All 3 guys at the live pasta counter made the best pasta. Ocean terrace can run out of food if you get there late but they did refill them but took a while to refill them. The variety of items for buffet style was very limited & was same for all the days, lunches & dinners too. More variety of food needs to be added as same menu for lunch & dinner on all days can get boring & repetitive.
2. The casino is really small. The casino is located at the corner of the main building lobby next to reception.
3. There s no kids water park as mentioned but have just 2 water slides going into the main pool. The pool doesn t have lifeguards. There s only 1 pool for the whole resort and is not that big.
4. The entertainment team of Lauren Morgan UK was the best in the whole resort especially Yuliana, Daniel and others. Yuliana went out for her way to do face painting for my daughter.
5. The beach club for Younger kids is well maintained & is lovely. The staff was lazy & not attentive. My daughter walked out of the club & they didn t realise too as they were busy doing their other work. Luckily we saw our daughter coming out but it could have been risky with kids walking out without their knowledge. There was only 1 girl who looked after them. Parents were sat inside whilst they watched their kids playing which shouldn t be allowed for the safety of all kids.
6. The rooms had maintenance issues especially the ones facing backside. The premier island view didn t have any view at all.The premier ocean/ pool view was really good.
7. The bell boys are really good and helpful.
8. The location of hotel on the Maho beach is the best with amazing views from ocean terrace.
9. It would have been nice to have a shuttle service from airport to hotel then having to pay extra for taxi when it s an all inclusive resort.
10. Housekeeping staff needs to work. Requested to clean our room several time & took them several phone calls and hours to get to clean our rooms. The ladies took 30 mins to clean the room only to find out that they only made bed and mopped the bathroom floor. The rest of the floor had lot of sand & wasn t cleaned, nor was the bathroom floor cleaned properly. She didn t clean the toilet pot and sink too. To our shock she cleaned the toilet seat with the toilet brush which was used to clean the toilet pots for all the rooms & she wiped it with one of the hand towels. I really felt gross to use hand towel later after I saw how they cleaned the room. The rooms had 4 bathing towels whilst she only left 3 towels. Laundry bags not provided in the room. The mugs in the room didn t have spoons.

The staff is working hard to bring its standard back and some of them are really nice and going out of their way genuinely to help you. Overall it was a really nice stay and thus would give it a 4 star but they need to fix few things for the price you pay for all inclusive resort hotel.

This resort was such a disappointment!

This resort was such a disappointment!
The website makes this place look great and when you get there not so much. Tiles missing and fallowing off the wall of the outside bar, pool lining is bubbled and rippled. Restaurants were not so good. Food mediocre at best except the POINT restaurant. Service is slow although very friendly.
We had a 5 day stay and by day 2 they ran out of strawberry mix for drinks (never got it in by the time we left). By the time we left the resort was also out of avocados, salads , chocolate and on our last day we over heard the bartender say they were out of bottled water.
The view from resort is beautiful, the rooms were clean and well kept.
But needless to say will never return to a Sonesta resort.

This is the WORST resort!! Paid for a superior room (one bed) got two small beds. Waited 3 hrs for a room! Drinks are terrible- all sugar no liquor! The dinner rsvp policy was never explained also the dinner rsvp was booked for our entire stay...so basically we can t eat! And the lunch food we had is VERY basic. Also pool bar closes at 5 and pool closes at 6. Be advised after 6 you can t be on the resort in a bathing suit and you will be asked to change! 0/5 stars!

If you have a trip booked and encounter issues, please ONLY speak with Shaquille, Kevin, or Melody (if you want a tour she's the best).

My family and I were at this resort up until 2 days ago... I would most definitely return to Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino...
The staff are all wonderful people who work so hard to keep the guests happy. They have been through a lot that we cannot imagine (with Hurricane Irma).

I just have two minor criticisms.. First, though the food was fine, sometimes it was underwhelming. Jings needs to kick it up a notch. Second, please fix the programming of the elevators. This will make movement from the rooms to the lobby much easier, especially on the days when guests are either arriving or departing.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who is interested in visiting Sint Maarten.

I was be on unpleased with the front desk and management staff at this hotel. My family and I took our father on vacation due to a rough year we had. Upon arrival is when all the problems started as my brothers room was ready for him but they let us know that our room and I'll be ready for another 30 minutes. We kindly said there's no problem and waited. After waiting over 45 minutes I went up to the desk and ask the status of the room they continue to tell me with much attitude the room would be another half an hour so I could either move down the hallway or continue to wait as I didn't want to waste my first day just waiting to get in my room we took the room down the hall. The hotel that is listed to be beachfront was nothing but a few inches of each surrounded by extremely rough water that you could not enjoy causing us to have to travel anytime you wanted to go to the beach. The staff was very unpleasant win any issues occurred giving attitude and very rude remarks and also be careful with this resort as they tell you you need to make reservations for certain restaurants however when I arrive there was no bookings available for the entire time that we were there . The restaurants that we're all available all the time had very little options and horrible food the pizza station that was actually decent almost impossible to get a slice of Pizza as few were fighting over them because they were not being produced quick enough. Our safe did not work the rooms are barely cleaned, they were supposed to replenish our refrigerator every evening with new refreshments and half the time yhey didn't or it was replaced with two or 3 items. All the bars except for the one who had limited options closed early and the pool bartenders were very rude to say the least. The only pleasantry of this experience was the food stuff they were very kind and tried to make her experience as comfortable as possible. I would not recommend Or return to this resort.

I am telling you stay away from this hotel all the other reviews are paid fake reviews first of all if you stay in ocean view side of the hotel there is no Ac in the whole hotel it's literally over 100 degrees. there is 0 activities during the day and at night. the food is all frozen food and all the restaurants serve the same food the buffet has the same food every night and if something finishes tuff luck come back tomorrow cause they're not bringing out more. I found small ants all over the room they had to come spray the room down. My last night here after one week the food is so horrible I ended up ordering dominos pizza. One thing that is worth five stars is the staff they're amazing people the owner is just a cheap guy trying to make a lot of money with out putting out anything thanks to him I will never ever return to st marten for this horrible experience I swear to you every other review on here in 100% fake you can call the hotel and have an honest talk with the staff and after a few mins they'll tell you the truth about the hotel. Don't make the same mistake I made

Still under construction from the hurricane, but almost there. Family resort.
Grounds were nuce. Beach was small but phenomenal. Noisy when the louder airplanes came in and took off. Smelled of jet fuel when planes took off. (Ick!)
Food service staff was amazing. Food choices were average, but not good for vegetarians.
Evening entertainment only one night out of 7.

Scheduling a vacation at the Sonesta Beach Resort...

Scheduling a vacation at the Sonesta Beach Resort, Casino & Spa Resort? Well, you need to carefully read this honest review. My family and I have vacationed with satisfaction throughout the Caribbean, but the
Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa is the worst experience my family and I have endured.

We arrived before the 3:00 P.M. checkin time, but waited one (1) hour to announce our arrival at the Reservation Desk. The decision was made to have lunch, then return to the Reservation Desk for our room assignment. Upon returning, we waited another forty-five (45) minutes to be informed by receptionist she had to leave the desk to check if the room was ready. After approximately thirty (30) minutes the receptionist returned and proceeded to finish all documents to checkin.

The room purchased was the Premiere Room, which was everything except a Premier Room. The furniture looked second hand and the bedding was below basic. Often bath towels, wash cloths, hand towels and bathmat were not replenished in correct numbers and required calling to obtain adequate bath items.
There was also a lack of hot water for a twenty-four hour tjmespan.

The Resort was all inclusive, but the Buffet lacked variety and only two (2) restaurants were considered palatable. The Point (Italian Cuisine) and the Ascort Pub were the best locations to eat. However, The Point requires reservations and the Ascort Pub is not open daily. Jings Restaurant (Chinese Cuisine) lacked sufficient food to serve clients. On one occasion there was Chinese Noodles and Deviled Eggs.
Ridiculous!!!!

On a positive note at the Point Restaurant, the Head Waiter named Walter was simply divine. He was knowledgeable, pleasant and catered to all our requests. Also, at the Ocean Grill, the Hostess was excellent in executing her task. Overall, the employees were pleasant which did make our stay tolerable. The resort is children friendly, with an array of activities.

However, the overall management of the resort requires an in-depth overall. I would not recommend the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa.

Respectfully submitted.

My boyfriend and I came to this resort for our first vacation together (7 days). We couldn't have asked for a better trip. The staff have been nothing but friendly and we feel super safe not only on the resort, but everywhere on the island. The food here is very good, we have no complaints and they have great variety. If you are prone to getting late night munchies, grab some sandwiches or snacks and keep them in your fridge because they don't serve past 10pm. The beach is absolutely beautiful and not too crowded. It's fun to see all the airplanes take off and land right above you! Alcohol is very tasty. sometimes you have to wait a little bit for your drink because there is usually one bartender per bar but you can bring your own bottle to refill or order more than one to solve that issue. They have many fun excursions to try! We did the big 3 which includes the steepest zipline in the world, the Billy bones speedboat tour, and we rented ATVs for a day to see the island on our own. Every beach on the island offers clean white sand and clear turquoise waters, the water is perfect temperature. It rained for maybe 15 mins total for the duration of our vacation, it was always Sunny and hot. Although we werent on the resort often enough to participate, they had many different activities, shows and games to keep people entertained. Anyways, to sum this up, I would recommend this resort to anybody coming to St. Maarten! 10/10

We are booked to holiday at the Sonesta Maho Beach...

We are booked to holiday at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in late April and after reading the many reviews I have an uneasy feeling about travelling there with 4 teenagers. I have been second guessing my decision to book here and now have a feeling this holiday is going to be a disappointing one with the service and cleanliness at this resort. I worry now that my request for having adjoining rooms will definitely go side ways and my kids will be across the resort. By the reviews I am reading I should have done my homework first. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

This place is absolutely horrible! If I could give it a negative star rating, I would... picture this:

You work hard and save to go on a vacation with your family, you anticipate how it would be and count down the days then you arrive....

From the start, we waited 3 hours for our room. As we were waiting, we had lunch in one of the cafe areas. The food seemed as if it was cooked weeks ago. This was one of only of a few options because reservations on the property are booked several days out.

If you re looking for a resort to enjoy family time...this place isn t it. We brought our daughter to a place that would be better served as a low budget spring break getaway for college students looking to get intoxicated.

Thirdly, we had no running water. At the time of this review, it s been three hours and still no running water. How do you come in from 90 degree weather and not have running water to shower or simply wash your hands?! Oh, the front desk offered bottled water. Are you kidding me? I m suppose to take a shower with a bottle of water? I wish I was over exaggerating but I m not.

Fourthly, (by the way, I shouldn t have to write four reasons why I feel I ve wasted a couple of thousand dollars), our refrigerator isn t working. Normally, this may not be that big of a deal but we have an eleven month old daughter whom we can t refrigerate her formula. Alternative? Oh, the ice machine doesn t work too.

Fifthly, the bell man (Raul) walked into our room unannounced. Are you kidding me? Talk about safety concerns. And he acted as if it wasn t a big deal.

Furthermore, looking to relax at 9:30p after a long day?? Ha! Don t count on it. There s loud music blaring from the pool area (again, it s like college spring break party all the time).

The list goes on and on...

No room service, air conditioning stopped working, there was mold in the shower (didn t place just open)??

I m beyond disappointed but mostly embarrassed that as a parent/spouse I wasn t able to give my family a much better experience that we anticipated greatly.

Please don t stay here.

Absolutely describes St. Martin in big letters. Great beach , great food, very friendly staff. awesome Islandish cocktail. Multiple choices of restaurants. They have live music at nights in and the best part it's right at the famous place where you get to get blasted by an aircraft taking off. Or you can take an awesome pick to capture a dope scene where an airplane is landing right from the beach. Definitely a great place to relax.

This was my worst experience from an all inclusive resort! I love St. Maarten but this resort frustrated us severely! First the water went out for a few days!! No running water... cannot flush or shower... yet they were serving food... How are they washing their hands??? then we arrived to the room with NO face towels and was told that we might get some tomorrow... They cleaned our room and took all of our towels and did not replenish them at all!!! We had to beg for towels to shower! Our wedding party was over 100 people and they did not have rooms available... They waited in the lobby for over 2 hours! I feel sorry for the bride I would not return. At breakfast - the food was running out and we kept having to ask them to replenish.
