Horrible experience ! Do not go there! Hotel is plague with the stomach virus and you think they will shut down to rectify the issue but noooo! Came back sick along with 15 other people traveling with me. Food was not great at all ended up buying good at the maho bar. Rooms are outdated only good thing is the somewhat friendly staff and close proximity to the beach. Better off going to a nicer hotel and travel to the beach

Staff/service extremely terrible. In January 2020 the hotel was very crowded... Long waiting for having meals at the restaurants... Waiting to take the lifts/elevators... I wouldn't stay again. Actually I am in SXM again and am trying The Atrium Hotel in Simpson Bay, wich, by the way, in my opinion is way better deal!

We absolutely loved the location! Right on the strip with lots of bars, shops, restaurants and casino. Not a huge selection of food on Resort but more than enough and very good quality! Not the fanciest or most modern Resort but very clean and as mentioned super awesome location. Also great for watching the planes since it's right beside the airport and maho beach. Budget friendly compared to the other resorts and we will definitely be back! :)

Horrible stay, very small noise resort right by the airport, limited services, limited food, no entertainment at all and very angry, nasty working personal. Don t wast your time and money, especially if you have a limited vacation time.

We had a very mixed experience at the Sonesta Maho resort.

Positives:
- Room was very nice and spacious with good AC and nice bathroom and a stocked fridge with water, soda, and beer
- The beach was gorgeous and the Oasis pool offered a good experience and was kept very clean
- some staff are very friendly and accommodating
- mostly everything is freshly remodeled since the hurricane and classy
- decent food (just not a lot of variety)
- the sonesto show team offered fun things to do during the day including dance and pole acrobatic lessons and really entertaining shows at night

Negatives
- Check in to the hotel took a long time and after we checked in it took almost 2 hours until our room was ready.
- 3 of the restaurants require a reservation. When we arrived almost all of these restaurants were completely booked except for the last evening of our stay. We were able to get one more reservation by talking to the concierge however all other meals were limited to the ascot pub (with a limited menu) and the buffet which was the same buffet every night. This was frustrating because we were promised an all inclusive stay with access to 5 restaurants. Instead it was mostly just a buffet every night. They provided us no compensation for this.
- most of the staff seemed overwhelmed at times (it appeared the resort was understaffed)
- many times the bars were understocked didn't have many ingredients for popular drinks
- there were always very long lines for breakfast due to only one location that offered it with a very inefficient way for seating
- the hotel room service was very good about cleaning our rooms but were out of wash cloths for several days during our stay

Overall we were able to have a lot of fun despite the things that went wrong. We will probably not be returning to this resort in the future and searching for one that won't have so many problems.

Very cheap, pathetic low budget all inclusive. Honestly can't even call it an "all inclusive". All services close at 12am! No food nor drinks available after midnight. Front desk is a complete joke. Absolutely the worst customer services experience. Out dated facilities, horrible rooms/hotel. Please do not waste your time/money on this "resort" because it will disappoint.

The new(er) tower has decent rooms, but the other building is basically falling apart. Food was excellent, with good quality and variety. The staff (aside from very few exceptions) is mostly apathetic and not very friendly.

Other than a Foosball table, a ping-pong table, a pool table, one Xbox in the lobby, and a casino, there is no entertainment to speak of. Compared to daily shows we've seen in other resorts, this is a huge minus. Especially so since they are trying to sell themselves as a "family-friendly" destination.

Do NOT come here for the beaches, because the 2012 hurricanes washed them all out. Quite literally, this resort no longer has a beach; instead there are just some rocks right by the entrance, which is now permanently closed off. The main pool is the only saving grace. We ended up taking the taxi to travel to the sister resort, Sonesta Great Bay, which has a good beach. It gets pricey though to do that every day.

Overall, I would not recommend this resort.

You know the staff is good when you remember the names. I would like to say thank you to the following people:
Paula ( by the bar she work and at the place we ate breakfast)
Sheryl ( she worked by the bar next to the pool)
Ann-Maira ( she work for house keeping)
Felicia ( she work at the bar by the pool and at the pace that had Jerk burgers)

I had a good time. Love the hotel and the Island is great. There are things the Hotel is lacking. They need a bigger selection of drinks and the rooms could be updated ( However; there are very clean for 1990 rooms)

Absolutely wonderful! The most amazing staff ever! It was my birthday and my dads birthday while we were down there - they went above and beyond for us. Surprised us with a birthday cake to our hotel room, champagne, and more. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible food and service. Takes 3-4 hrs to check in. Staff is very rude and the all inclusive bar is always running out of something. The specialty restaurants don't have what's on the menu and it takes over an hour to get food. This a beautiful island but just don't stay here. Had to go outside and eat everyday and people outside is super nice.

Excellent teamwork of the staff of Sonesta Maho Beach.

The lobby interior is lacking any charm and is unsophisticated.

Soft sound of music.
For example, nature sound, in this case "Best Nightingale"
songs 3 hours, very soft on the background.

We came here Dec 19th to 26th and wow! Completely satisfied. We were treated like family from the moment we got to the resort. Our room was beautiful, looks just like the photos, cleaned nicely every day. (Although it wasn t swept so there was a lot of sand that built up over the week) The only negative thing I have to say is the buffet choices weren t always there and much of the food was running out. But, that tends to happen when you re travelling during such a busy time, keep in mind this hotel has been COMPLETELY overhauled, you wouldn t even recognize the place from 6 months ago, it s all brand brand new. Thank you for the amazing vacation! We can t wait to come back next Christmas and do it all over again. From someone who has been here multiple times, trust me when I say this resort is just improving every day. They really look at feedback and make almost immediate changes.

Ps. Go to one of the kiosks once you arrive and make your dinner reservations right away. I personally recommend the palms grill if you go during dinner time you are served meats that you cook yourself on a lava rock.

Avoid Jung s, the service is lacking and the food choices are very sparse.

You can do a day trip to St Barths, Saba and Anguilla. All accessible from the excursion desk by the elevators.

If you go to the Anguilla ferry (right beside the airport) you can avoid extra costs. My suggestion is to go nice and early so you don t miss the last ferry coming back for the day.

I always think people are too harsh with their poor reviews . I've never written a review in my life. I travel very frequently.

This is the worst resort we have ever stayed at. Besides the fact that I got sick for 2 days and noone really cares, everything about this place is beyond horrible. Listen to me. Stay away.

The employees are beyond rude and everything seemed like a bother to them.
Entertainment- there is very, very little. I mean very little. The food is the absolute worst. The beach - what beach?

By far the worst experience I ve ever had at a resort. The resort was constantly running out of food and the hotel seemed under staffed. They promote a premium all inclusive bar which is a lie, the liquor was cheap and watered down. Our room was never cleaned properly and always left dirty even after housekeeping supposedly cleaned the room. Most of the staff seem as if they don t want to be there nor work there. Stay away! (Second review I ve left. First one was deleted)

I am currently at this hotel and the service at the restaurant is pretty bad it is long before having it served, and for the food at the buffet we will iron it is always the same thing. To go to the restaurant you have to go outside so it's been two mornings wet then you have to get wet before going to lunch it's pretty ordinary. We went to supper at Point restaurant which is the best restaurant in the resort and I was extremely disappointed I expected much more from this restaurant. For the rooms it's ok my for the food we will iron.

The location and beach are exceptional, but the service is lacking. The lines for meals were in direct sun and very slow moving only to get a meal that is very limited in choice and flavor. We later opted to go out to local restaurants rather than suffer the wait. Even the wait for the elevator became a running joke among our fellow travellers. Our room was only on the third floor so we would have happily taken the stairs but they were daunting to navigate. The customer service was very dismissive with the exception most of the bartenders. Simple questions were answered with a shrug, like we were really putting them out by asking. The rooms were clean and large and the air conditioner was sufficient. The cleaning staff were attentive. The beds feel soft at first then settle into firm and you get several pillow options. The complex itself just feels very compact and noisy.

Great resort! Food was great. I also really liked the unlimited drinks. I'm not a huge drinking but I got to try drinks I never would of before. The pool had a swim up to bar that was enjoyable. Its a great socialization place. You could tell people had a blast there. Staff is fantastic!!!! Very kind & friendly crew. They genuinely want the guests to feel like they are at home & go above and beyond to provide that. That was one of the highlights of the trip. The hotel is stationed right outside the ocean. I really loved the ocean! I would go for walks around the shore & admire the beauty at any hour. Listening to the waves in the morning & at night was wonderful. No one would be around, it was absolute serenity. It makes me want to go back! If I'm knit picking I wasn't a huge fan of how alot of it was catered to families & children, but that's just a personal preference. Dont get me wrong I do like some children. However I would of preferred to be around more mature people. Some parents didn't watch their children while they would run around screaming or doing whatever they want. A couple of kids ran into me, which I felt like asking them where their guardians were?? That annoyed me but it's not the hotel's fault. I should of went to an adult only hotel. I was hoping there was going to be a hot tub but that's just a small thing. Overall we had an awesome experience.

If you like the smell of sewage, lousy food and the sound of planes landing and taking off 300 yards from your balcony then this is the place for you. Pools are decent , staff not extremely helpful, absolutely no beach at all. A day shopping in Philipsburg was highlight of trip. I would come back to St Martin but not this resort

Beautiful place... but if you have a dietary restriction this place is a JOKE. After contacting the resort weeks prior to our arrival and being told they would be able to accommodate without any hesitation I was so excited for this vacation. It was a complete disaster and to top it off, the last day of our trip we learned we had been eating some things (that had ingredients) we were extremely sensitive too that wasn t labeled correctly... and so far the resort has shown very little concern. I ve never wanted to come home from somewhere more....

I will start by saying the beach was great and the plane spotting was fun. My stay was from Aug. 19 -24,2019. The true resort experience, is not what is depicted on the website. The reality is vastly different.
Upon arrival, the website purports a welcome drink and towel to greet you. That did not happen. I don't know if they ran out of drinks and towels, but I feel it was lack of supply and staff.
For an all-inclusive resort, the food was mediocre at best. The eating establishments are limited with difficulty in acquiring reservations for the good restaurants. It took 3 days to receive reservations for the good places. The most accessible restaurant, called the Ocean Point,is an "all you can eat" buffet style fare. The key is to arrive close to opening time, because the food runs out and is not replenished too quickly. The breakfast did not have much fruit available, nor was much available with any other meals. The food was lukewarm at best, most of the time. My girlfriend became very sick from the food on our first night there! I suspected it was a bad reaction to the shellfish.Thankfully, she recovered from her illness on the following day with help from the local pharmacy. During my stay here numerous complaints made about the food and the difficulty of obtaining reservations to the good restaurants. I found the wait staff to be generally pleasant and accommodating, but at the Ocean Point, the wait staff supervisor Leona(I believe that was her name) had a nasty attitude. Also, I was expecting there to be Caribbean cuisine on menu, but it was non-existent. A final note on the food, the restaurants that need reservations are worth the wait!
The rooms were nice, but it was an effort to get basic items(lotion,soap,tissues,etc.). During the 5 days spent there, the refreshments in the room were only replaced once. In the room there was an iron, but no ironing board! The sink had an odor of sewage and the shower floor was slippery.
The elevators in the buildings were always crowded and were always very warm.
The pools there are always crowded and the chairs/umbrellas are limited. Unless you claim a chair/umbrella early in the morning, there will be none available. The same goes for the beach too. Claim early or be without!
As far as entertainment, the Sonesta Showteam was very good. There is really not much night time activities, such as dance parties. There was a beach party one evening and the food along with the entertainment was nice .Generally by 10:00 pm, the place is quiet. Adult night activities are seriously lacking. I really expected more adult evening events.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about the resort. The food is definitely sub-par for a resort promoting luxury and I felt a bit cheated. The plane spotting on the beach is a plus, I must say. The rooms could be cleaned better with better access to basic bath supplies. The resort appears to be geared more toward family, than couples. I was disappointed with the lack of adult activities. It is a good idea to bring extra money and take advantage of the tours outside of the resort. The experience did improve after the first day, after intervention by our travel agent along with venting our issues with management at the hotel. This place could use some improvement. I can not see myself returning for another stay

This was one of the most amazing all inclusive experiences I've ever had. The rooms were gorgeous, modern and comfortable. The grounds were also impressive, from the swim up pool bar to the various restaurants that offered amazing ocean views. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was my favorite. Be sure to make reservations for the Palms Grill and the Pointe restaurant, both were delicious! We also had a good time at Casino Royale playing Blackjack, slot machines and Craps :-)

Out of all the inclusive resorts that I have visited this was the absolute worst one. I went as a group so my choice in the matter was limited however, if I had read the reviews prior to paying I probably wouldn't have gone. To reiterate some of the other reviews the cons are: food is bland, service is slow, staff are rude, limited elevators (3 for the building), price and value are not equitable and the "good restaurants" are booked up before you arrive. Pro: beach, hotel room view, local food and people off resort are great. I would not stay here again but would visit St. Martin again.

This resort was nice and clean. It was also very close to dining and nightlife! There were not a lot of restaurant choices since not all the restaurants listed were available due to covid and also there were not a lot of activities inside the resort that I m use to seeing at all inclusives but overall they place is great. Staff could be a little friendlier.

Beautiful resort with a wonderful view of the island and the ocean, nice people, great employees, and I will definitely visit again. The spa was very relaxing. The ladies Malissa and Raquel did an amazing job. 24 hours room service, the jet blast by the beach was an experience. St. Maarten Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. Must Visit

I'd like to write based on my experience. I first ...

I'd like to write based on my experience. I first booked in Maho but switched it to Great Bay because of bad reviews. I was wrong, and wishing didn't pay more for Great Bay! People are generally nice. Perhaps bad reviews about people being rude is a hit or miss situation. I am very active myself and I enjoyed my visit to Maho. Since if you're staying in either Sonesta Maho or Great Bay (not Ocean point), you'll have access to both. If you want a night life, entertainment and fun activities, you should go to Maho. It's a very family friendly all inclusive resort. You get nice views, lots of foods and music. They have 2 pools with bar. They have kids pool. The buffet and other restaurants are ocean view. The casino and other night restaurants are nice. You can walk outside safely. They have shows in the casino. I enjoyed their Latin night. You get dance instructors. Overall, I wished I kept Maho in the beginning. Great Bay is more quiet and relaxing. But if you would like something unique, Maho is a great place as you can experience airplanes at the beach. If you would get bothered by its noise, you better stay in Great Bay. They have nice pool with ocean view but very few restaurants. Hotel is like a motel and their casino inside the resort is small. However, people are nice too and we get special accommodations if you request for what you need. When I go back, I'd stay in Maho. The island itself is beautiful!!! Don't miss the day tour or ATV ride. Do both and you will enjoy and learn about the island's French and Dutch side. Just don't walk in Philipsburg at night because it's dangerous. Downside to either resort is they don't have a shuttle. You have to take the taxi ans it costs $20-25 for 2 people each ride to either resort. And it gets more expensive as it gets later in the evening. Either resort, it's all about your preference and type of environment. Ocean point is as nice as Maho so don't even bother paying double of the price because you get similar amenities anyways. Hope this helps!

where to begin...(keep in mind this is a soft opening and this island is still being rebuild) .day 1 , my room wasnt ready by booking time, had to wait sometime extra. the electric work in the room was horrible. you press one switch in one room and across the room another turns off.....and that goddam flickering light in the bathroom will drive you nuts. once u play with the switches with a sequence of different combinations of on and off you might get it to stop. than the toilet water didnt work for the whole hotel up till 10pm. elevators always packed. ah man, i can keep going but place needs work. bed hard as stone wasnt that pleasant. if you get to this resort on a monday, all reservations will be booked up till thursday.......but they will give u a seat after like 8pm with a wait. the people at the resort are very friendly and really do try to help but the people coming to stay here are not nice, probably cause of the low price at the moment. all food is basically cooked with vegetable oil which kinda made me sick a bit, and their isnt much of a selection. the Point has amazing food i must say doe. drinks are amazing, beach views are amazing. seening those planes land is cool aswell. the resort is really nice especially for the low price at the moment cause of the damage everywhere on the island. great price, few inconveniences, amazing views. you weight out the good and bad but still a very nice lifetime experience.

If you come to St. Martin to see a plane, it is the best to stay here! Because we were close to the beach, we could use Wi-Fi of hotel on the beach. As it is all-inclusive, it was good that I could stay without worrying about food expenses. I pray for revival as early as one day.

My first review ever! But it had to be done. I will start by saying that I WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS RESORT AGAIN.

Forget the towels and mamosa at arrival it never happened for us or anyone I spoke to days after. I will do my best to make this review easy to read with some bullets points because I hate long reviews

Negatives:

- My room was not ready untill 3:30pm

- the safe in my room was not working and it took them 2days to fix it- well more like change the batteries that were dead

- the food was terrible at all times. Breakfast looked like continental complemantry breakfast at a Best western or holiday inn. No variety- always eggs, bacon, toast, pastry crap and cereal boxes. We often had to fetch our own utensils for the table and coffee not easy to get from the short staffed waitresses

- lunch was not any better I swear it was like eating at a school cafeteria. The trays of food were often empty and sloppy. Presentation was not somthing they invested in. Don't bother expecting any carving stations or freshly made hot food.

- there are only 2 restaurants inside the resort and the food was awful and our orders were often wrong. Service was bad because the wait was long for food.

-Short staffing was apart throughout the entire resort.

Food was scares. Nothing to eat and I mean nothing to eat from 10am -12pm while they turn over the only 2 restaurants they have. The only food available - pizza every single dayyyyy...... and even that was scares. people made lines to get a few slices to feed their hungry kids in the middle of the day.

- no burgers, fries, or refreshments available during the restaurant gaps

- no room service

- no icecream or frozen yogurt machines

Not enough staff especially around the pool area there was one poor girl working the pool. She was nice and you can tell tried to do the best she could with drink orders

Only 1 bar tender per bar- so crazy to me to see this especially at the swim up bar

They were often out of juice and basic drink mixers

The kids pool was filthy and smelled like sewage

No night clubs to party at night you have to go out of the resort for that and if you did it was more of the local loud bar and not an actual night club.

The casino was small and again located outside the resort

The resort closed its bars ealry. At 10pm all but 1 bar was left open. First time I ever had to buy my own bottle of vodka to keep in my room for late night drinking

Positives
The weather on this island was incredible. No humidity, sunny, clear and breezy all day and night

The people were very nice - not their fault the place is short staffed

Rooms were very nice modern and clean

The beach was calm, clean and clear. No annoying vendors on the beach. Only a few selling the usual beach wraps, hats and bags.

It was very relaxing

The shows and street performers were very good.

Best part of my trip is that I was with my family and got a lot of sleep

I WILL NEVER EVER VISIT THIS RESORT AGAIN!!!

Very disappointed! We went there for a relaxing trip, only to find out that there was a health scare sweeping the resort, Norovirus was invading the whole resort, and no one said anything. This started January 3rd. We arrived January 19th and stayed thru the 25 of January, By the second day there were people coming up to us asking if we got it, and we asked got what ? On Tuesday night into Wednesday, my friend got severely sick, had to stay in our room due to illness, the next day I got sick, lasted all day , by Wednesday night they finally took precautions with how food was served had sanitizer at every elevator, No Apology, for dropping the ball in there lack of care for their patrons, no refund was offered for our loss of time on our trip. We were afraid to eat the food or drink the water. It turned into a horrible trip, because we couldn't relax. Or feel safe. I kept worrying about the small children and the elderly, as their resistance is compromised. Shame on you for sitting on the information that could saved your patrons from a health risk. In talking to your employees, you knew about this for weeks.

Save your hard earned money! Don't book this resor...

Save your hard earned money! Don't book this resort. They opened at least 6 months to early, likely out of greed, and they are not prepared at all for the number of guests here. The hotel is still under heavy construction, the elevators barely work, the staff has not been accommodating at all, and the list goes on. We arrived to a dirty room, no food at the restaurants, and being told to go to the Casino across the street just to get a glass of juice for a child. We just checked in this evening and we can't wait to get out of here all ready. An absolute disappointment. Two stars at the most. Heed this warning and all the other negative reviews. This place has a long way to go, and they should not even be open yet.

UPDATE (6 days into our trip): I finally received a response from the hotel today as our trip reaches its end. We were told contact Akilah the Guest Relations Manager, whom I had emailed our first night here, and received no response. At this point, I have already managed to contact her but she was not very useful. She managed to change our room and said would contact us about further concessions, but we have not heard from her again. Finding her in the first place was a nightmare. First you have to go through the Front Desk Manager Kurt. This guy is absolutely useless. I think his job title should be Professional Time Waster. I spent an hour and a half at the front desk waiting for this coward to come out of his office and talk to me. Finally I had to just barge into his office and ask if he was finished with his nap, and if he would like to actually come out a do a little work. He was in there just busting jokes with another employee while were just sitting in the lobby wasting our vacation away. After a long session of him trying to shake me off, so he didn t have to do any actual work, he finally agreed to put me in contact with Akilah. These two have a game going on where they try and keep people away from speaking to anyone with actual authority. The only way to actually even get a hold of Akilah is to harass the hell out of Kurt. This had to be done as Akilah did not respond to my email from the night before, which is why I was waiting for Kurt in the first place. My advice to the Sonesta chain is to fire these two immediately as they are not doing the chain any favors. Sonesta would be much better off putting a guy like Esmund in Kurt s position. He was one of the most hospitable and friendly employees on the resort. I could see the reviews improving greatly if a man like that was in charge instead of the lazy managers that are currently in place. Jully was another exceptional manager who should be commended for actually trying to help, rather than just trying to push you off to the next person.

A note to Sunwing s management: You would be wise to drop this hotel as one that you promote. Anytime a problem arises they tell us to go to the Sunwing managers, as if they are somehow responsible for the hotels operations and shortcomings. Even the dirty rooms seem to fall on Sunwing. Sonesta s management wants to take zero responsibility. One member of our wedding party found ants in their child s bed. When I mentioned this to Akilah, she flat out told me not to send him to her, but to the Sunwing rep as she didn t want to deal with it. Sunwing, this hotel wants to put the blame on you for their poor management. If I were in charge at Sunwing, I would certainly have something to say about the situation. If you would like to hear more, please feel free to contact me.

This hotel has been designed extremely well: to screw with your mind, patience and ability to function as a human. The Soviets would have been proud!

Where to even start? Perhaps some of the free extras; the all pervading stench of sewage provides guests a lovely sense of nausea to go with your morning omelette. Ah, yes, morning omelette; that also comes with extensive free queueing, a pleasant hour wait for breakfast, followed by fighting feral children and overweight Americans to get near any food. It's actually easier to get food, and of better quality, in Kandahar.

Of course, food! Plenty of restaurants at this resort, which you can't eat at unless you book at least three days in advance. Other than the cook-it-yourself place, which gives you one fork and one plate for both cooked and uncooked meat. Room service? No, not unless you're in the 'other' resort, which you can't get into.

At least there's entertainment! Permanently, all day, in your room, until at least 1am, if you're looking out on the pool. At least they wait until 10am for it to start! You'll still be queueing for breakfast then anyway. Don't worry, you also have massive jets blasting past your window before the music starts, so you won't miss out. The hotel also doesn't have a beach, that's just a lie.

You can ask to pay to go to their 'other' resort, or ask to be refunded, or ask for any help whatsover, and much like asking for amenities in said Gulag, you will be told no. Although, unlike the Gulag, they do actually serve a pretty good range of alcohol, I'll give them that.

In summary, take your forced labour elsewhere.

AVOID! Dirty, smells of sewage, extremely loud (you can t sleep your room) from 9am to 1am. Overrun by children. Huge queues for breakfast, low quality food (other than palms grill lunch). Asked management to move room away from pool, was refused. Save your money!!

My husband and I were hesitant to book at this resort based on some not so flattering reviews. I don t usually write a review but felt it was worth the time to write this one.

The staff was amazing and our room was clean and well attended to during our stay.

I am a very picky eater and I was able to find something to eat at every meal. I was only under-impressed at one meal out of entire stay.

We enjoyed our time here so much that will most likely return again next year.

My stay was initially amazing. Resort staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival. The trip was amazing until the hotel staff/ house keeping stole my husbands jacket. Considering that we tipped house keeping very well each day, we found it very despicable that house keeping would steal his jacket and then pretend to not know where it is. The house keeping staff kept what they wanted because they assumed we had checked out; which is very disappointing to know that they have no integrity and are literally preying on the people who visit their resort. Needless to say, my husband had to travel back to New York without his jacket because they had Stolen it. Security was also called and instead of security holding them accountable for stealing their patrons merchandise after waiting for an hour nothing was done. I will never recommend this resort to anyone, due to the dishonesty and lack of integrity that was displayed by staff. Do not go to this resort unless you are eager to have housekeeping stealing your valuables.

Been struggling with this review since I left the ...

Been struggling with this review since I left the resort 2 days ago. I think it's a solid 3.75 stars currently. It certainly not a 3. Heres why I came to this.
Short version. 18 months post hurricane and construction is currently still happening. Rooms were clean, I was located on the 6th floor. Elevators are not synced properly and kept stopping at every floor. Restaurant service seemed understaffed. Only ate lunch and dinner twice at the resort. Bartenders way understaffed! Beach and pool were beautiful. View of ocean water outstanding.

Long version. Construction on going but didn't affect the vacation. Heard the airplanes more than the construction. Customer service check in was busy and too be expected. Welcome drinks and a cool towel while in line. Got checked in with no problems. Rooms were clean and very nicely put together. Had to mess with the A/C so it blows colder. Was told to book reservations for the two main restaurants at the mobile kiosk. Could not get a reservation till after our stay. So find out a way to get that situated before your arrival. Ended up leaving the resort for lunch and dinner 2 out of the 4 nights. Not upset about that since we wanted to experience local life. Food that we did eat wasn't outstanding nor was it terrible. Pizza was good! Now for the main reason and the attraction other than the beautiful beach and pool area. The bartenders at every bar except the casino needs more than one person. Maybe it was because I was here Sun-Thurs but my god add another body back there that can at least get the basic drinks out quickly. Like beer, soda, juice, or non alcoholic daiquiris. It seemed a few times when it was slower that the bar tenders weren't even interested in making some of the drinks you wanted. I had a few times they sent me to another bar for the drink I requested and then that bar tender responds which I don't have the ingredients or who told you that. Looking for some consistency when it comes to an all inclusive. I noticed a few times that other guests would walk away and go to other bars in order to get a beverage. So I think this resort has some kinks to work out and I think its on the right path. Again I think this resort is just under a 4 star rating currently.

Would I stay here again? Yes I would come back maybe to the adults only section.

Don't walk from the airport to the resort. Pay the 8-10 dollars and stimulate the economy. Its a bit further then a 5 mins walk. You will see when you get a taxi. Taxi to Simpson bay area is roughly 15$

This hotel & management is a work in progress. There are multiple hiccups during our stay. First, the smell of sewage was disgusting. Second, false fire alarm by maintenance. There was no security on each floor for emergency.
Third, having to make reservation for dinner is a waste of time. Even though we followed instructions to book ahead, we had to go back to concierge everyday in the afternoon to confirm. It is a waste of time. The staff no doubt works very hard, but the level of service is under par. I would not be enticed to return & would not recommend it to my friends.

Excellent food and location

Excellent food and location
Rooms need some renovation, for example, while taking a shower, water drain system is not good enough and water ends up in the room.

If I could possibly give a rating of zero stars I ...

If I could possibly give a rating of zero stars I must certainly would have done so. The check in process for myself was fine, but if you come with a large group be prepared to wait at least 2-4 hrs. Thank goodness I decided to arrive a day earlier, although arriving a day earlier allowed me to get a head start on the foolery we would endure. First complaint the website promise you all these luxuries like nice cold towel upon arrival, I had to ask for that basic things like hand towels in your room, oh my heavens getting towels at this resort is so hard to do. This was a constant battle for my entire stay. The front desk told me because of the hurricane in 2017 they aren't able to wash on site so they out source..... so you will have to wait for the towel delivery to arrive before receiving clean towels each day and if you don't make a fuss about it they won't either. NOW HERE COMES THE SHOCKER The water was out not once but twice i have a video to prove it, so not sanitized, which means you could not flush the toilets. I complained yet again to the front desk the young lady name Jesinia told me " the water is out on the whole island " the lies she tell, I went directly across the street to the casino and their water was working just fine and directly next door to the restuarant amigos and their water was working. I video recorded all. Next up there was a water leakage in my room and i nicely went to the front desk and explained there was a leakage in room 696, I kid you not the lady told me "well it's raining out and that's what happen when it rains " my face exactly... no i'm sorry or ill call maintenance, just rude, so my next request was, well can you at least have someone to mop the floor, she gives me this look and say yea i can do that for you. Day three, my friends wedding day, after leaving the pool area I go to my room to get ready for the wedding, the room had been cleaned but they left me only 1 large drying towel by this time i have had it up to here I return back to the front desk and ask for towels this time I wasn't as pleasant and it's sad I became that way but I immediately got a response by the time i got to my room towels were there. Also be aware the pool and beach area closes at 7pm so you are almost forced to go off the resort after those hours because they have no activities for you to do. The food is horrible they served chicken legs, red beans and rice, french fries, hotdogs, and salad every single day oh and pasta they have a chief making pasta alfredo sauce or tomato whoopi's doo da. The breakfast menu never changes, only great thing is the fix fresh omelets with added ingredients, but oh but glory when they run out of pancakes that is it they will not replenish. Oh and the fruit is not fresh, don't believe me just google this resort and read others complaints, something i should have done before even considering staying at this resort but because a good friend was getting married and i trusted her decision i did no research shame on me. The alcohol selection is scary i did not recognize any of those brands with the exception of absolute vodka and jose cuavo tequila, so purchase your own alcohol at the airport, or just don't vacation at this dump. Majority of the staff is extremely rude especially one bartender in particular his name tag read Kalulu next to The Point restuarant, I don't care how much i tipped him he was awful. I'm extremely glad his tip jar wasn't exposed because I probably would have reached my hand in that jar and retrieved my $60.00 we gave him. Now if I complain I always compliment and would like to compliment this young guy name Devin he was extraordinary one of the best employees at the resort, extremely friendly and accommodating. The bar in your room is scares, be aware. Just know although this is an all inclusive resort you will still have to spend money so bring plenty because there is no where to eat here after hours. I literally ate off the resort all 5 days.

Food was terrible!

Food was terrible!

I gave a three stars because front desk staff was amazing to deal with, especially Esmond who was always very helpful and so was a few of the other front desk help. Manager on the other hand needs to work on his personality and customer service skills. The bar staff was always good at all times, super friendly.
The food was horrible to point where we had to go outside the resort for breakfast, lunch and dinner which added another $60 US approximately a day. I know that was our choice, but we had to for a decent meal, everyone we met complained, some of the restaurant staff didn't seem to care much about helping anyone, probably not tip motivated so I saved a few dollars there. The resort is noisy from construction, but that can be forgiven understanding the devastating recovery and rebuilding after the hurricane.
I would definitely visit st Maarten again, it's a beautiful island with wonderful people, however this resort needs to work on a few things.

They claimed it was seasonal illness but both my dad and I got sick while staying at the resort along with so many other people. I watched them rush Gatorade up to rooms because everyone was getting sick. But only the resort had seasonal illness ? Waiters and waitresses were the only ones keeping us up to date on what was going on but there were little kids getting sick and so the resort wouldn t be at fault they called it seasonal. At least own up to your own mistakes.

Me and my wife stayed there for 3 days recently....Front desk was sometimes clueless. ....Asked them where to locate the ice machine they told us the 4th floor....We ended up going down to the the bar in the small casino area to get some, because there was no ice machine anywhere on the 4th floor .....We asked the front desk to locate and make a reservation for us, at a nearby Thai Restaurant for a Thursday evening......They confirm to us that a reservation was made for us 8:30 p.m.....When we located the restaurant it was closed......Come to find out, they made the reservation for Friday instead of Thursday evening which did not help, considering our checkout was Friday at 11 A.M......Friday morning our room was swarming with ants all on the room floor, in the bed sheets, and got all in my suitcase.....Ants crawling on us we had to be very meticulous getting out that room, with as few ants as possible!....We informed them down at the front desk, and they didn't seem to concerned about it I guess!.....Definitely not a five star experience for us!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. I was looking forward to spending 5 nights at a wonderful all inclusive resort. However, what I received was a poorly renovated dorm room.

The food was awful! They have the same bland food day after day. There s no variety. The only way to order is to try and make reservations at a onsite restaurant, which is impossible to do every night because of availability. They water down salad dressings, drinks, juices, and teas. I m glad I packed my own water bottles for the week. There s no bottled water available. There s no room service!! What resort doesn t have room service?

The reviews are deceiving. The goal of this hotel is to keep down costs no matter what! Even if that means not providing the experience expected to the guests. I am extremely disappointed. I would never stay at this resort again nor any of its associated hotels.

The staff is rude and unresponsive.

I waited all year for this!!! Extremely angry and annoyed!
