Very nice resort to stay at. Everyone is friendly and keeps everything clean. Stayed 6 days here, and would definitely come back! Beach was nice and didn't have any problems with booking a reservation at any of restaurants.

We were never here before the rebuild, but recently stayed for a resort daypass while on a cruise stop. The facilities were all beautiful. All of the staff were fast and so polite. The included restaurant was quick service and delicious. We would definitely go again.

I loved this place.. The staff were very friendly and accommodating when needed. The rooms are neat and are your common type rooms. We were upgraded to a beautiful room and view as we were getting married. The house keepers are very nice. If you don't say hello, they may not say anything to you as they are respected your space and privacy. Say hello once and you've made a friend. I love the French Vanilla in the lobby!! Just like Tim Hortons fv.
I would definitely go back!
Alton, the night security out front, is absolutely awesome. Nigel from the Grill is all about the guests.. Can't ask for much more. Not sure where all these complaints are coming from. Some rooms are slightly outdated, but they are currently updated those floors with zero disturbance. Some of my family knew the floors above them were being renovated, but had no disturbance or any inconvenience at all.
Just outside the Resort is always lively and safe. If your looking to enjoy some night life along with relaxationduring the day, this is the place! After travelling the island and seeing some of the other resorts, Sonesta Maho (by the airport) is where I would book again!

Updated: After contact with the resort, the only response we received ( a week and many messages later, is that they can t control how we were treated by the clinic. However, we never would have been at that clinic if they followed through with what the sonesta website states about testing. - Don t fall for the on-site covid-19 testing they sent us off site and sat there for 3 1/2 hours and was screamed at by the receptionist the whole time when we sat and waited!!!! They welcomed us to there island and made a promise they couldn t keep we had to go back at the end of the day and wait 1 hour for our results. Lost a whole day and still no response from management about this!! Don t fall for there gimmick on-site testing is false you will loose a whole day that you pay good money for to enjoy yourself. There advertising on there site is a lie and they don t care to fix it or address it. Don t do it

Poor customer service not hospitable at all. When you book a room they are really quick to put you in a room that has not been renovated and has a mold problem. I'm staying here for 7days and it took 3days to get a decent room. Can't wait to leave, but I do love saint maarten.

Stayed here Aug19-22. The Check in process took 3 hours. There was no food when it should have been an all inclusive event. I'd stayed here in the past before the hurricane and I had bot problems. But this time the service was garbage! I'm not blaming the staff because they can only work with what's given, something needs to be done with the management. I would not even book this hotel for my dog. These folks have alot of work to do, they need to get it together.

The services here where spectacular! From calling to make an appointment to leaving my extremely relaxing experience, I felt wonderful. All my energy was revitalized and refreshed, even on vacation. I would recommend going here as often as you can! I wish I had a spa experience like this at home!

A beautiful experience to live with a staff at the level of friendliness and relational level.
The hotel is new, clean and maintained.
We had a good time, overlooking the landings and takeoffs from Juliana Airport

The rooms were great. The food experience wasn t as good. Most of the restaurants required reservations and the reservations were booked out past our stay. Only one pool that was pretty full. Beach was small but the water was awesome.

It deserves 0 stars to be honest. Look at reviews from months ago. This place is plagued with the norovirus. I was traveling with a wedding group in mid-May and everyone contracted it. It was awful. Overpriced and this place is too commercial and outdated to be considered a Caribbean resort.

Fortunately, we are not forced into staying at sonesta maho beach resort. We booked through Expedia a month or so ago for a March stay and felt comfortable as the recent ratings looked acceptable. I m thankful my wife kept track of the recent reviews coming from guests at this resort. It is clear from reading those reviews that a very high percentage are ill with stomach virus, the staff has clearly been affected by this nightmare, and the food service is seriously lacking. Expedia repeatedly got this number not in service when attempting to contact sonesta several times to request a cancellation waiver, and we finally figured out we had to call from our cell phones with the Expedia rep bridged on. After attempting multiple times and finally getting a manager on the phone, we were told that the trip was non-refundable and sonesta refuses to acknowledge their current issues. After spending multiple hours on the phone with Expedia tier 3 Corp customer service, we were able to get a refund minus the cost of one day. The $334 spent just to avoid potentially getting violently ill on an expensive 4 night vacation may be the best $334 I ve ever spent. This resort should stop copy/pasting the same tired responses and start addressing their issues. Treat your customers with some respect, get your virus under control, and quit ripping people off. Expedia was more than helpful in getting our issue resolved once going up the management chain while expressing your concerns. Looking forward to our new booking at a location with good recent reviews and more importantly, no norovirus

Nobody cares about your experience at this resort....

Nobody cares about your experience at this resort. I have been to over 20 different resorts in the Caribbean, and this one is by far the worst. Every restaurant and bar is understaffed. The phone in the room has its cable cut off! The front desk doesn't answer the phone. Don't waste your money here, you are better of getting an airbnb.

Lots of things still to improve. Food was ok but not much better. Towel hut was suppose to be open at 6am but often not staffed by 9 am. Guest reserved chairs at pool & beach often the night before and there was nobody to get this under control. Overall I think the management is lacking. I hope for them that this gets better.

Tons of people smoking cigarettes so it mostly smelled of that, the food was ok at best- do not bother to go to Jing s. We killed about 15 mosquitos in our room and we had an infant with us so bring bug spray and a bug net, there were a couple nice people that worked in the restaurants but the front desk staff did not seem well trained in customer service. A heavy ceiling door to an ac unit in our room fell in the middle of the night and it kept falling which was dangerous for my tall husband.

We asked to change rooms because of the mosquitos, smokers outside our room by the pool on the first floor, and the broken ceiling- they said they would switch us and then they never delivered.

Will not return to this resort and will not recommend it to anyone.

Went to sonesta at the end of August. The resort is beautiful and there is WiFi throughout the resort even on the beach. The food could be better. It seems like they were struggling to find food to feed us. Everyday was the same thing and it was not very flavorful. They also need an extra bread maker in the mornings. There is always a line up to toast bread.

They have a cafe in the main lobby that has sandwiches most of the time. I wish they would have more chicken and tuna sandwich. They went really fast. We ate a lot of sandwich throughout the day as we didn't like the food at the resort. Most nights they didn't have a late night food option. They ran out of food or they just have the left overs from dinner buffet as a late night option.

The staff was friendly. Especially Anne at guest services. She was able to make my birthday and our marriage anniversary special. The room was decorated very nice. The sonesta show at the Casino Royale is a must see. Saint marteen seems like a very safe place. Everyone we met was friendly.

We took the local bus for $2 to phillisburg. You can spend all day at phillisburg. Great places to eat and shop at Phillisburg. There is also a beautiful beach that you can swim at right on the boardwalk.

All in all I would definitely go back to Sonesta Maho resort and St maarten. The weather was 31 degrees everyday and it was great to get good weather everyday and be able to enjoy the blue waters.

Beautiful blue green beach positioned near Airport runway. Awesome views of landing aircraft. Sister resort to Sonesta Great Bay (our resort). Stopped in here for lunch and aircraft landing views from the restaurant. Delicious food, nice staff, lovely property.

I have been here four days and nothing but nice things to say. We got one of the rooms that is on the back side of the hotel, the one with the sewage treatment. Well the big round thing people have taken pictures of well it is mostly been torn down. There has been no noticeable smell. Yes it is unsightly, but unless you paid for the premium rooms you no reason to complain.
The food it is the same thing mostly for breakfast and lunch but not the end of the world. The food has been good. We have not had to deal with a reservation issue yet. The people that complain about it must be eating dinner at a later time. We get there when restaurant opens, no issues. The menus don't have a huge selection but something for everyone.
About the bars, people complain the bartenders aren't fast enough. Well yes this is true but Ramon who tends the pool bar everyday but Tuesday helps you as fast as he can when there are over 20 people asking for drinks he is one man. Before complaining, could you keep up with that many orders instantaneous if not then, Zip it.
All in all, I read all reviews about the resort there was alot of negative reviews and I was worried. I have experienced something that people have complained about, but not to the extent they have. The people that complain must expect to have their own personal servant which they don't have. Here.

YOUR ON VACATION RELAX AND STOP WHINING.

Giving this one star because the rooms are nice and maid service is good. Beyond that terrible. Only one pool for the sonesta which okay but it s considered a kids pool so no open bars at pool after 5. The food is awful. The bars run out of everything, couldn t get frozen drinks for THREE days. No strawberry for 2 days. Also construction still going on so top floors like the 8th are nasty. Think twice before coming here!

After booking a stay months in advance they move me to another hotel a day or two before my scheduled arrival. On the second night i booked for a week later they move me to a different room than I booked and charged me for the difference. Service is non existent.
Food very average. Facility is not the clean. Friends had a dirty room. This place is way overrated

Food was disgusting thank god for the staff especially Cecil and Anna they made our stay beautiful thanks to Anna she was able to get us in for dinner 1 night and thanks to Ceceil she treated us like Gems! That's the only good thing about this resort is the friendly and accommodating staff.

The rooms were nice, they upgraded our room because they didn't have what we reserved available. But the security staff were not only less than helpful, but actually made things harder. The parking garage is through a construction storage area. The buffets are easy and convenient, but not that good. The bartenders we're definitely the friendliest staff there, everyone else didn't seem thrilled to be helping folks. I know it is work for them, but it is the hospitality industry. I know they are under construction and just reopened, but staff trainingight not be a bad investment.

Very pleasant experience. Even though everyone on the island is struggling to rebuild it after being severely damaged by one of the strongest hurricanes in history, everyone works with great encouragement and enthusiasm. The service of the collaborators is very good, they are careful to make you feel welcome and the facilities are recovering. We have had a great time and I highly recommend it.

From the moment my sister and I arrived, it was a chaos. We arrived there at 1:30 pm and check in supposedly was 3 pm, which was fine. However, once 3 pm arrived it was now stated our room wasn't ready. We waited patiently and now it's 5 pm and our room was not ready. When the room was finally ready, the keys weren't working. I had to go to front desk to get this sorted out. The next issue, not enough food, first come, first serve. The food was poor choices and limited. I had to get up earlier than what I normally do for when I go to work just to get some thing to eat for food was scarce. This was not acceptable. The hotel was understaffed and over booked. People everywhere, spinning their wheel as to where they would wind up. Staff was not helpful - rude to be honest. I work very hard to save and go on vacation as many people do and this was totally a poor choice of a hotel. I would like to have contact information for I am requesting some sort of credit to my stay.

Unprofessional & Unorganized facility. Booked Sonesta Maho Beach for their re-opening special to support the islands recovery efforts post-Irma. We paid our trip in full months before travel time. We booked our airfare using rewards miles (non refundable). We have a small business and made arrangements to close for a week for our vacation. We even added an extra night to our stay towards the end of December! Our travel dates were beginning of February. They added the extra night with no problem! Well about not even 3 weeks prior to vacation - I was on their facebook page which I saw they would not be re-opening. I reached out to my travel agent immediately, she knew nothing about this. She never received an e-mail or any notification from the resort. She reached out to the resort and it took them days to reply. They offered a couple of different options for alternate plans. We would be unable to change our travel dates as all arrangements have been set for weeks prior to this. We elected to stay at another resort. This resort is not an all-inclusive resort so we had to shell out additional money for the room + we will now have to pay for our food and drink - something we were not planning on since we were expecting staying at an all-inclusive. After my travel agent didn't get any additional response, I wrote to the Reservations department Monday 1/21. Today is 1/28 and I've received NO response. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. To say that you are going to have a reopening special and to support the island's recovery efforts but then give people the option of traveling to Jamaica or Mexico is not acceptable. The people that couldn't change their dates should be compensated otherwise since they will now be staying at a non all-inclusive resort.

I arrived on June 1 with family and friends. The initial l impression on the hotel lobby was underwhelming at best. We were supposed to be greeted with champagne and a cold towel of which I received neither until I asked for them. Then the room to which I was assigned was a king size bed for myself and my cousin to share. They were not able to accommodate us until the next day. When we finally switched rooms new one was not up to our cleanliness standards. The views from the beach were beautiful but they have a lot to improve upon. Customer service being one major thing, The restaurants aren't always available either and for an all-inclusive that is pretty much a standard expectation. If it wasn't for the excellent service provided by Marilyn, Felicia and Sheldon my trip would have basically been uneventful.

Just returned home. Weather great..loved the pool..drinks and food was good. Staff working hard. Housekeepers and bartenders very friendly.
Would have liked honesty from Sonesta and Sun wing regarding hotel being incomplete and the noise and construction when we booked our vacation. ..would have been nice to be informed regarding not all restaurants opened.
I'm sure I will be back when fully finished.
Love St. Martin!

the location was great, very close to everything. some of the staff were very rude, the Security guard name Romel asked us not to use the restroom because the property we ate breakfast every morning was under different management, even though the Waitress told us to use the bathroom because it was the same resort. service was slow at the buffet, it seems like they were hurting for staff. all depends who you spoke to, they told you different rules when it came to parking your car.

Looking for a nice place (room, meals, things to do)and fount it. From Director of Operations, to Shaquille and Cedric on front desk, Fevre in buffet area, Walter and Carol beverage mgrs., Martin and Pauline restaurant mgrs.to Samuel handing out towels at pool, to Khadijah and Georgette at Ocean Point. There were others that I didn't get their names but also gave good or excellent service. Rooms were good and ladies cleaning did a reasonable job. Meals at 3 restaurants was good and varied for the most part. Didn't eat at pub or Chinese. BBQ on beach was good and different with entertainment. Beaches are some of the best with chairs and umbrellas. Arriving planes were entertaining as well as people standing near runway as planes took off. Will return next year without a doubt. Get a room with an ocean view is a must.

Demeanor from staff is unwelcoming. Pool bar closes at 6pm. Lines at both restaurants to get a table. Several times we ordered a drink off the menu and they couldn't make it (no mix, broken blender, absent bar tender...). Food is marginal and grounds are rough. Close to the airport if you want to see the planes land, but if not interested in that be prepared to listen to airplane noise all day. Based on experience at other all-inclusive resorts you can find a better value easily.

Beautiful hotel and rooms, great food and drinks. However horrible service! We arrived at 2pm in SXM, and check-in was supposed to be at 3pm. Unfortunately they said that the rooms we're not ready, and we got our rooms at 20.30pm!!! (And we had a meeting at 5pm without a room or able to freshen up). This is unbelievable, but there was no refund for this. They offered us late check-out for 3pm, but as of 2pm the keys were blocked. This is unacceptable for a 4* hotel! They should really learn to manage their room bookings.

The site is very family. NO NIGHT LIFE. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO HAVE A PARTY! You must love children because you will see them! Do not think to party, the bars closes at 11:30 Max so it's not here that you're going to booze. There are some uncrowded bars across the street. Otherwise you have to go to the lotus at 5 mins by car. If you do not tip the waiters at the hotel, he may never go for your favorite drink. The soundproofing is non-existent so hope that there is no baby close if you like to sleep. No or little health option at the food level. No fruit or little and the same for vegetables. The wait is relatively long so try to book your places if you can. Pizza available at all times and sandwich except at night so if you're drinking, think about bringing back to the room if you have a trough at night. No room service. Beautiful beach, albeit small, beautiful pool and the personal is almost all smiling. The rooms are nice and clean. It must be said that the sadness is felt on St. Martin because of all the devastation caused by Irma! I think they are doing their best. They live difficult things! I will not be going back to this hotel but I recommend for families.

Hotel looks nice and modern but service is ok nothing great . And atleast everyone's friendly. This is a good location if you come with a couple or if your like 70 years old and just want to relax. Beware if you've come to visit family or if your single you are not allowed to bring anyone to hang out in your room they ask to charge you . And my last few days I stop eating there once I found maggots!!!!!!!! in one of my plates , I threw up and everything . When I bought to there attention the reaction was so bland. I stopped eating there with 3 days to go. On the positive side i had so much fun off the island. I recommend to hit the town

Stayed in February in a Ocean View room. Beautiful view, clean room/bathroom. What I did not like about the resort was the system they had in place for reserving dinner at 2 of their restaurants. They claim some of them close once a week but we couldn't make reservations until 3 days after we arrived because it was all "booked" and once we had a reservation for one night they called us and cancelled because they were closing down the restaurant for that night and didn't even have a reason why. After doing so, they couldn't accommodate us into another restaurant that night. Besides that, staff is friendly and the food was decent All-Inclusive resort food.
