All inclusive resort. Great pool.

All inclusive resort. Great pool.
Building was under construction due to previous hurricane. Staff was quite rude. Elevators stop at every floor as they weren t in sync. Upon our arrival Room needed to be cleaned again. We paid for top floor ocean view which was lovely but with all the construction going on constantly it became annoying. Hammering, saws, electric staple guns going on sounded like constant fireworks.

Not happy with this resort. I understand that your island went through devastation a few years ago, but it s no excuse for the awful customer service or lack thereof, and not allowing your guests to eat at your restaurants simply because we had a party of 5 people. We paid money to eat at a buffet everyday which by the way was terrible, less than 5 food choices and pretty much the same every day. Couldn t eat at any restaurants even after we talked to the front desk several times. And anytime we went to the bar, they were always out of something. No more pina colada s? Why?? This is unacceptable. Your staff is among the rudest people I ve ever met, why do I want to go on vacation to a place where I refuse to get served, get dirty looks, and then watch everyone behind the bar argue with each other? One of the bartenders took it as far as cursing at one of us because we accidentally took the wrong drinks from the bar, thinking they were ours. It s inexcusable, and shame on you for hiring such negativity at your resort. On top of that, 2 out of 3 rooms lost power, AC and heard jack hammering every day. I could have pitched a tent on the beach and had a more enjoyable time than the time we experienced on the resort!! Shut it down until you can get your business straight. I will go as far as demanding some sort of compensation for the horrible experience.

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort wasn't ready to open to the public! There wasn't enough food, the staff didn't have a clue to what, where or how to be of help! The food was terrible!!! The resort just couldn't accommodate the amount of vacationers! My experience was terrible!!! Wouldn't go back there!

We are a family from Germany and spent 10 days in the hotel in august 2019. With a few exceptions, we were very satisfied, so we would like to rate with 5 stars.

What you need to know is, that the vast majority of people come from the United States and want to celebrate their annual holiday here. In addition with the caribbean culture and reggae music, it can be louder later in the evening. It did not bother us, but you have to like that.

We had a living room and a separate bedroom. Everything was clean and in good condition. Air conditioning well adjustable. WIFI also available at no extra charge anywhere in the hotel and on the beach. Stable connection. Beach chairs and umbrellas sufficiently available. If you want to be in the first row on the beach but you have to get up early. That is normal. The place is limited.

Theme restaurants must be booked on time. In the short term it will be almost impossible to get a seat. However, there are always two restaurants available, where you get very good food. A buffet-style restaurant with a wide choice and a restaurant with limited a la carte menus. Here are also made excellent freshly american style burgers. TOP.

We did not use the pool. Hey, we are in the caribbean on a dream beach.

If you complain about aircraft noise and kerosene smell, you should have informed yourself better before, than later use the time in complaints.. The hotel is located next to the airport. Kerosene smell is only minimally present for few seconds by start of the aircraft. Aircraft noise also only until 7 pm. Absolut acceptable conditions for us.

Now a little criticism on sustainability and ecology.

We can recommend the hotel.

Good cleanliness of the rooms, on the other hand you must ask for a view of the gardens or the sea, otherwise you end up with a view of the wastewater treatment plant ... And the smell that comes with it! Some of the staff are okay else should just change jobs. Not a lot of chair on the beach! The food is excellent, the alcohol too! I recommend this hotel. Obviously you also have to like planes because this one fly over the beach! Very nice show! The Abidjan evening shows that the bars close early.

We had to be very insistent to get the room we had paid for at our Travel agents office. Receiption desk could do with alot of hospitality trainging. The music at the pool was so loud as was the music at night. The sister resort at Great Bay was much
better noise wise & it does have a beautiful peach which the Sonesta Maho does not have any unless you would want to walk to where the planes fly in virtually right over you, then to top it off we got foot poison. Never been go glad to return home.

I read reviews after I booked this vacation for my daughter and myself and was in complete panic mode! The reviews on here to say the least were horrifying. I returned from my vacation last Thursday and it was beyond what I had expected. The staff were amazing and made my daughter feel like she was the only princess there! The rooms and hotel have all been updated, to my understanding, as I seen absolutely nothing wrong with their conditions. There was a wide selection of food including a pizza bar that was always open so you never felt rushed to fit to a schedule. I was unable to make some reservations for the restaurants but the staff was very accommodating. The room was not ready when I first arrived but they held our bags and showed me where I could have lunch while we waited. My advise for anyone who is reading reviews when booking any vacation please remember that the majority of dissatisfied people will always write and unfortunately those who had a pleasant experience do not always take the time out to write a review. For many who work 9-5 and juggle a family... the fact that you didn't get a chair when you wanted is the least. Enjoy the weather; the scenery and time with your family and stop sweating the small stuff - try an island-life mindset! I will definitely visit Sonesta Maho Beach Resort again.

Warning! Absolutely false advertising!

Warning! Absolutely false advertising!
When we booked our room we picked a Premier room with king size bed and unobstructed views.
This is what they say is an unobstructed ocean view and a king size bed.

February 15, 2020 1:00 am
When my wife and I decided to go to bed, we realized the sheets of both beds were dirty (body hair, maybe pubic considering how they look) I called the front desk to let them know about it and to request to have the sheets changed. The man who answered the phone said he was going to send someone.

By 1:18 am nobody had shown up so I decided to call again to let them now about it and asked how long would it take because it was already late and we were very tired and needed to sleep. The same person at the front desk answered in a very hostile and aggressive manner, he yelled at me saying that he had already sent someone and that he had seen him on his way and hanged the phone on me.

By 1:25 am nobody had shown up yet so I called again the front desk and the same man answered equally rude and aggressive.
However, this time I reminded him that we are costumers, who paid $400 dollars a night, he is not doing us a favor because we already paid for a service we are not getting. His response was "well I don't know what's going on" and then again he hanged up the phone in the rudest possible way.

Finally, someone showed up at 1:30 am with a sheet (1) on his hands giving it to me, pretending that I should change my own sheet. (Are you kidding me? )I asked him to please do it because that is not my job. He came into the room and realized he did not bring enough linens so he left the room again to go and get the rest of the set, i.e bottom and top sheets and one would think fresh pillow cases, not the case.
So, the house keeping person went back one more time to go and get the pillow cases after we asked him to please change them.

By 1:45 am he finished replacing the dirty sheets and pillowcases of only one bed. He was going to leave without replacing the sheets of the other bed so we told him that he needed to change the sheets of both beds because they were both dirty and that we had let the person at the front desk know about it since I called the very first time at 1 am. He then told us that the person at the front desk didn't tell him anything at all about it. He went out again to go and get the set of sheets of the other bed and one more time he didn't bring the pillowcases for the bed so he had to go another time to get the pillowcases.

Finally by 2:08 am the man who came to change the dirty sheets finished replacing them with fresh ones. As you can read here it took one hour and eight minutes to have a clean bed where to sleep.

I guess the manager whom my wife and I spoke with earlier about the ocean view issue was not kidding when he told us verbatim "I don't care about Trip Advisor, Google, Facebook, or any kind of reviews, use my name if you want."

Very crowded, Tiny Beach with big surf, food needs a lot of improvement where is comes to variety and taste. The best food in the resort was pizza, but I did not fly to St. Matreen to eat pizza. No choice in beers, only Bavaria, which is OK, but nothing more. Alcohol is just basics, No JW Black. Rooms are nice and contemporary, but that does not make up for other shortages.

Beautiful resort, decent price and the rooms were nice, super close to the airport, I think the taxi was about $7 U.S. a number of restaurants to choose from although none were outstanding in my opinion, same goes for service but that's where they lose the star. A number of little shops in front of the resort, right on the beach whether you want to relax or watch the planes come in. Big pool with plenty of seating around so you didn't have to struggle to find a seat. They gave us 3 bottles of liquor in the room to start which made it nice to have a few drinks before going out. Was there for a wedding which have the party stayed at Ocean Point, after seeing the rooms there I'd say spend the little extra and stay there instead, yes it's more and yes it's worth it...don't get me wrong Maho is nice bit Ocean Point is definitely a step up

I am presently at this resort in room 694 , I was here before the storm 2 times and it was wonderful. My wife and I decided to go back since it was rebuilt , we made a mistake coming back. The food is horrible, reservations are impossible, some of the staff are miserable. I cannot get a Diet Coke anywhere. The only good thing is that the resort is all new and clean.

Visited from May 27 - 31st. Resort is really awesome. Room was clean and comfy. Food was great on some night and on others were ok. One thing i noticed though that the staff looked overworked which resulted in porr customer service at times. I had a great time though, the beach next to the resort is awesome. I will definitely be back and no one was sick during my visit which was our number one concern before the trip.

Rooms were clean and beach very beautiful. Some staff were very nice but most need management support to understand that this is a service business- if staff are grumpy the.n this is not the job for you. Some staff were very rude especially at the bar. We had a party of 18 and ordered 8 drinks, the bar person asked why are we ordering so much- one chastised us to make sure we drink out the beer and not waste it. Drinks are really poor as the bartenders seem to not be trained in making proper drinks and seemed more interested in getting tips. Food was poor for the most part- I ate outside the resort on a number sold days. There was 1 bartender at the palm grill where there 60-70 people at a time so drinks too 15-30 minutes to come. Lobby rarely had coffee- the coffee container was always empty.
Management need to take a proactive approach to trading staff. I saved up money and time to make this trip and expected some decent service but was disappointed. I know there are issues with the recent disaster but please focus on customer service . Love the island but may not stay at Sonesta again

Get used to lines.

Get used to lines.
Line to check in, Line to the elevators. Line to be seated in buffet, line at the buffet counter to get food.
Food choices are very limited.
No fruits, no seafood!

Think of holiday inn free included breakfast.
Rooms also remind of cheap hotel - 2 beds, reasonably clean. That s it.

Beach is ok but you have to reserve seats in advance!!

Service is non existing in almost everything. Looks like severely understaffed.

Mexican and especially Dominican Republic resorts have waay better food and service.

Also there s nothing to do on the island as a whole. Planes landing nearby get old pretty fast.

Bottom line: go to Punta Cana.

Nice hotel. I just feel it needs more elevators for the amount of people staying at the hotel. It just takes forever to get to your room. It also feels you need to fight for a spot in the elevator cause while you wait more people start to show.

Im staying here now. Before the storm i would rate this hotel at a 5 +. This is my 2nd day. My rm phone doesnt work, u have a puddle in my room from the air conditioner. I booked my reservation 11 months ago requesting a certain area, of course it was unavailable. The only thing thing that is keeping me sane is Damon the bartender from the Sunset Lounge. SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HOTEL AND GUEST SERVICE

It's nice and clean. the staff is nice for the most part, when the security isn't hounding you to see your wrist. The food was either a hit or miss nothing really special to brag about. You'd think that the place literally sits in front of the ocean that there would be seafood galore but it was the complete opposite.

I've stayed at this property several times prior to hurricane Irma and loved it.I understand they are trying to rebuild but everything at this hotel is not right. May be they should have waited a few more months to reopen because they are definitely not at the same service level they used to have! The remodeled rooms are nice but it looks like they slapped it together. The curtain rods were already broken in our room and no screens on the sliding door. So you can't leave door open to enjoy the beautiful cartibean breeze. Supposed to be all inclusive but restaurants are short staffed and over booked! Good luck getting a meal and when you do get a table they were extremely rude!!!! I do want to give a shout out to Sheryl bartending at ocean point! Yay she's still here and just a beautiful person. Always love her , she makes you feel like family! And the saving grace was Cecile, she is a waitress at ascot pub. After being treated so badly by every server on the property we stopped by ascot for our last dinner before leaving the island. We weren't expecting much but she turned out to be amazing! Best server we encountered. I hope she is there next year! She had a huge smile and seemed to love her work! She saved our weekend! Thank you Sheryl and Cecile!

Overall good place, clean rooms, responsive house keeping and bar service. The entertainment could be better and restorant , buffet staff need to be better - running out of things, servers take long time sometimes, need to be more friendly. They could be overworked, so this is a management issue not workers. Would give it 3.5 starts since some needs to be done.

Location is great! I really like the location, we got a good deal stay here so I don't want to complain too much, however, the service here is really bad! Like super super bad, we had 3 staff members being nice to us during our whole 5 day stay :( I can over look that but I can't over look the mold everywhere you look! There is mold everywhere!! I don't know how this place passes health inspection! We did stay in one of the older rooms from the 80s so maybe that's the reason why we had mold everywhere, the moldy smell hits you right away as soon as you enter the room older room. Once again we got a good deal staying here so I don't want to complaint too much but I would never pay full price to stay here. So if you come here make sure you stay in one of their remodeled rooms. Great food though! We were happy with the food! So the reason for 2 stars is the staff and the moldy old room.

First night at this resort and I would never recommend it to anyone. No air and isn't allowing refunds of moving us to their sister resort $300 plus a night, everyone here deserves better than this. I love this island but will never stay at another Sonesta again. Worst company management.

From the moment we arrived we knew we had found a special place. We enjoyed everything from the accommodations, the friendly staff and phenomenal food and bottomless beverages. The weather was heavenly and we vowed to come back next year at the same time. Thank you so much for one of the best vacations we have ever had. I had just retired from the airlines as a flight attendant for 29 years. I have been in hundreds of hotels and without hesitation I would recommend this retreat to everyone I know. Go, go, go!!!!!

I'm writing this review while still on the resort....

I'm writing this review while still on the resort. been here 3 days so far. what a disappointment other than the rooms being modern. i will list the problems encountered.

1. shortage of staff in most areas. (excluding palm's grill and housekeeping staff), results in lack of service and wait times.

2. staff training in guest services which is lacking. if you get an employee who makes an effort you are lucky. i asked for a cappuccino second day at the buffet rest and was told we're don't have it yet i saw a gentleman walking away from the rest. now i wad not pleased being lied to. after making a fuss a cappuccino was made.

3. the hotel advertises shuttle service to mullet bay and phillipsburg. the hotel decided to stop in may. also advertise no reservations but that's a lie too.

4. lack of items.. bars dont have half of what is on their menu, and running out of food items or at the bar, tap beer.

5. disorganized at check in, ocean point. waited in line for 20 mins while there were empty tables.

6. lacking staff friendliness large percentage are not. they don't say hello or don't even smile when providing a service.

7. ascot pub closed during our stay, so why was it not done before opening of the resort OR why not offer the menu in the interim at palms grill in addition to current menu.

8. no ice cream even at the buffet.. this is the first i have experienced at a resort even Cuba had it.

9. no room service that i am aware of since there is no menu in room or advertised.

10. lacking variety and restaurants

11. no cafe. why on earth would one not be added during construction or at the least set up a temp one.

i spoke with many older people who frequented sonesta before the new build and have stated that the food and service has downgraded the original staff are no longer there except for once female bartender. i believe many of the issues lie with management and poor planning. i was employed for many years with a major hotel chain and see the many flaws. as well on ways to improve. this hotel should have reviewed the large chain resorts on how they operate and incorporated some of those practices.

A memorable vacation with my little family :)
I had a lot of concerns before leaving due to the many negative comments.
In general our stay was pleasant we were able to drive around the island and visit different beaches.

PS: The indoor playpen for children is very practical for rainy days.

The staff in the restaurants are very rude and not willing to be helpful. The bartenders around the pool and restaurants are rude and also very slow to help. Asking for something basic like a banana daiquiri was denied due to a lack of banana. No banana in the Caribbean. Unbelievable. Overall a decent resort but very poorly equipped at bar, rude staff slow to help, and very understaffed overall.

The food was horrible at all the restaurant s except Jing s, we paid for rooms with 2 beds we did not get it, my kids had to sleep on hard cots the whole stay, they waited until 1 day before we were to leave to change our room. The buffet was disgusting they have no variety of food, nothing was ready and they ran out of food in 2 minutes had to wait at 10 to 15 minutes to get more or they would run out. They have no waiters to bring drinks to you at poolside you have to get up and get it yourself. The music is horrible by the poolside you cannot hear it or they aren t playing it. Front desk services was horrible! I went with a party of 15 we were DISGUSTED I will never recommend this place to anyone. Go the FRENCH SIDE!! My niece room had ants crawling on the bed and we went to the front desk to complain, only to find that there were several customers complaining about the same things. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!

The pros beautiful resort, nice pool and the fact we get to see airplanes fly in and out right over the beach.
I did like their room system with the sturdy bracelets to indicate you are a guest; can open room door with it and not having to need a card which you can possibly lose.

Many cons I may have to say...
It took us over 2 hours to check into our rooms.
The bathroom, beautiful set up but both the toilet and shower did not have sliding doors. So if someone was showering and someone else needed to use the bathroom they had to wait. Beds werent as comfortable.
There were no pamphlets in the rooms with information on the resort, activities, dining options etc.
The buffet food was unflavorful and didnt have much variety. Pizza was the only life saver. But sometimes there would only be one person back there and would have to wait a while for pizza. The power went out a few times at the buffet.
The sit down restaursnts had poor customer service. We was one of the first to sit down when it opened for lunch but other people that came after us got their foods first. My cousin had birthday reservations and they said nothing was in the books and they could do nothing about it. We went back and forth between 2 sit down restaurants for 1 hour and ended up dining outside the Resort. (SKIP JACKS) is the restaurant we went to highly recommend this place. Amazing customer service, delicious food and waterfront seating.
There should be a 24 hour snack bar in the Resort for people that get hungry overnight, or outside of meal time. Variety of Savory and sweet options and drinks.
All of the employees seemed very miserable. Only one I can remember which was very sweet and friendly Elizabeth at the casino/bar, thank you for your amazing customer service!!!

I understand the hurricane happened last year. But if your not fully ready to open, dont! I heard from some people they werent suppose to open for another 6 months. The staff arent happy and are not properly trained. Construction is still happening in multiple locations on the resort.

I already had my visit to St. Maarten. I dont think I will go again but if I do I will NEVER go back to this resort!!

Just returned from a week at this hotel. I d like ...

Just returned from a week at this hotel. I d like to give them the benefit of the doubt as they are clearly still trying to get their act together, but there was a lot that went wrong. AND a lot of bad service/attitudes which has nothing to do with their reopening.

Check-in: They did bring us the cold towels and Champagne, so that was nice as lobby is HOT and wait is LONG. We arrived about 2:00 and were told our room wasn t ready. It was FINALLY ready at 3:45 (check-in is at 3:00). The woman who checked us in acted like this wasn t the hotel s fault and made no offer to do anything. After I complained, they sent us a bottle of wine and a small plate of dessert the next day. Elevators broke several times, are hot and open at every floor sometimes.

Room: Our room had clearly just been cleaned as the floor was still wet. Our stocked mini fridge was dirty and empty. Ice machine is on 4th floor, but it was broken on day 2 of our trip, so we had to go to front desk for ice! Overall, we thought the room was fine great view except you can t see the sunset (we had premier ocean view). We did have to ask FIVE times over two days for extra pillows (finally got ONE). Took forever to get warm/hot water in the shower if it actually got warm. Had to run A/C and fan to drown out the coughing next door and music at night. There was a slight sewage smell in the hallway at times.

Amenities: We only went to pool and the beach area by the Palms Grill. Didn t go down to actual beach and get chairs as that got crowded early. Most of the time, we got two loungers under an umbrella by the pool. You usually want to claim your chair(s) early like when you go to breakfast. Only one day was it totally packed without any chair available. They do close the pool pretty early to clean it it might have been 7:00 pm? Wi-FI SUCKED it was so slow that the TV would hang for 1-3 seconds constantly as you watched shows.

Activities: They did have a lot of activities at the pool including water aerobics, daily games like trivia and bingo, etc. Didn t go to fitness center nor the casino area. My son is almost 13, so he didn t go to the kids club, and the teens club still isn t open. They had a beach dinner party one night that was nice. Live music every night until 10 or later (NOT nice when you re trying to sleep, so run the A/C fan to drown it out). On their website, they mention nightly theme parties, live entertainment and outdoor movies other than the beach dinner party and nightly music, I don t recall theme parties nor outdoor movies happening.

Food/Drink: The drinks typically came in small, plastic cups (nothing like the big drinks they show in the video on their home page, lol!). Recommend bringing your own Yeti or something! As for the food the Ascot Pub was closed. Jing s Kitchen is HORRIBLE food and a joke as a buffet. The front desk will tell you that you don t need a reservation to go there, but they are totally rude and roll their eyes if you show up without one! The Point probably had the best food, so make your reservations there as soon as you arrive took us three days to get in! We mostly ate lunch at the Palms Grill and breakfast at the Ocean Terrace (buffet was just okay). We did the Palms for dinner once but thought the sides were horrible, and it really wasn t fun cooking our own meat. They do run out of stuff on a regular basis, too. When all else failed, we got pizza from Napoli. Most of the time, you were waiting for pizza, though.

Overall, I d say the place has potential maybe once everything is working and open. But they really need to sit down most of their staff and talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE and attitudes. Holy cow, it was pretty bad at times with how we were ignored or talked to or even looked at (until you pulled out some cash, lol). The best service we had was by a woman named Dorian at the Palms Grill she definitely stood out from the rest as she was actually NICE to us and didn t act like we were a huge inconvenience! I have mixed feelings about staying there again or recommending.

My husband and I spent a week at Maho April 16 - 23/15. We loved the resort, food & people but did have a bad experience. Upon leaving I noticed that my new bright blue runners were missing. I wore them there and then wore flip flops for remainder of week as it was very hot. We checked the room very thoroughly and reported it to security. They were approximately $180.00 Cdn. I travel extensively and have never had this happen before. It put a bad ending to a great trip especially since we treated the people well and tipped very generously.

I recently spent 7 days at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort for the purpose of attending a conference. On the upside, the housekeeping in the rooms is excellent, and the rooms are spacious and well furnished. On the downside there is a general absence of precautionary; the only path to the dining halls and restaurant (save and except the path that leads from outside the main entrance) is via the pool which is wet and treacherous to traverse; the food is mediocre and on one occasion I got food poisoning; while there are several food options, few meals (especially breakfast) were prepared with the lactose intolerant like myself in mind; there were long delays in replenishing empty serving dishes at the buffet; the cutlery was not always clean; and most horrific was the disgusting smell of sewerage in my bathroom. I reported the smell three times and on all occasions the staff came up with either an air freshener or disinfectant!!! I was unapologetically told that the hotel was full and so I couldn't be afforded a room change. Management clearly needs to look more closely at these issues, take ownership, and strive along with the staff to deliver a better experience. This property is ideally located on a beach front and minutes away from the airport.
The potential is enormous, but attention to detail, empathy, and general concern for the wellbeing and safety of guests ought to be taken more seriously. I regret that I cannot in good conscience rate my experience better than 1 star/poor.

Less than a month ago I along with a large group spent 2 weeks at Sonesta Maho Beach (SMB). We arrived to SMB after 3:30pm. Upon check in, we did not receive a cold towel and drink. A few ppl from my group were met with a few different issues and were treated rudely by 1 staff member I particular. The others did all they could to rectify the problem.

The food was very bland and the selection was the same daily. They quickly ran out of food. A lot of the staff at the buffet and Palm Grill were rude. I was told by one of the staff members they sometimes aren t friendly because if something isn t done properly, the owner often sends them home. (Not something that should ever be told to a guest.) Do what you need to do without being rude. Everyone pays the same rate and deserves the same kind and cheerful hospitality which unfortunately almost never happened.

Reservations for the specialty restaurants were almost impossible to get.

The pool lining was lifting. The staff at the kids club were rude and didn t seem to have sensitivity training when it comes to children.

The rooms were always cleaned in a timely manner; however, the amenities weren t replenished.

My family and I love St. Maarten and visit often; however, this was the 1st time visiting with our children, family and friends. Which is why I choose this hotel for a large family oriented group. I thought we would make this our regular hotel since we plan to make SXM our yearly traditional vacation.

I was quite embarrassed at the complaints that I received from the group. I do hope you read all reviews and take what is said into consideration when implementing change.

Horrible experience. The rooms dirty, sheets stained, Infested with bugs. (as seen in photos) We went to the pool and ordered two sodas at the bar, my kid wanted another soda, so I went to get one more soda, the bartender said "you already got your drink" and she didn't serve us. Later we found a cockroach by the slide where our kids swim! (We will update this review as our vacation proceeds!) We do not recommend this resort to anyone!

Beautiful and clean resort!! Polite and helpful staff and the food was very good at all the restaurants too! Daily activities by the crystal clear pool and waterfront stage. My only concern was we had no hot water here and there and if you don't get a poolside room you have the view (and odor) of the sewage treatment plant! Other than that, was an awesome stay!

Went with a group of friends. Had an amazing time. Yes the entrance way and front of the resort were still under heavy construction, but once you enter the ocean side you don't even notice. The best part of the resort were the staff, some of the friendliest and most helpful I've experienced on vacation. Make sure to say hi to Sheryl at the pool bar!

This resort has potential. The beach is gorgeous, white sands and crystal clear water. The hotel is currently under renovation so there's a lot of construction noise at the moment. We stayed in a newly renovated room on the second floor and it was beautiful. We arrived at 2:30pm, they said our room will be available at 3pm, we didn't get it until 6pm. While we waited for our room we went to the restaurant to eat. At this time there was a very drunk and disorderly person sitting at the bar. Security was a little overly aggressive in handling the situation. They threw him on the ground and his head hit the tiles and started bleeding a lot. They couldn't pick him back up so he was left there for over 30 minutes yelling and screaming until police arrived. This happened about 10 feet away from us while we were trying to eat a burger. It wasn't the best way to start or trip. The wait staff is very rude and we are pretty good tippers. We ended up getting drinks and food ourselves wherever possible just to avoid being waited on. I wouldn't go back. It didn't feel like an all inclusive vacation with all the inconveniences.
