Sol Toro Tequila Grill Review

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!! We came here for my birthday dinner. It was my me and boyfriend s first time here and they didn t disappoint. We told, who we assume is the manager, that it was our first time. We were seated quickly and waited on fast. Our waiter was absolutely excellent. I wish i could remember his name. He made sure we had everything we needed and that everything lived up to our expectations. The manager also kept checking on us. They also gave us a free fried ice cream not even knowing it was my birthday. The food and dessert were EXCELLENT!!! We will definitely be back.

Why isn't there one of these in Long Island???? I love this place. Great chips and salsa and great margaritas. My go-to spot when I'm at Mohegan Sun.

Had a great first experience at SolToro! Our waitress Stephanie was amazing and knew the menu like the back of her hand! The chips were warm and tasty with the salsa or tableside guac. The fish tacos were amazing as well!

Nice restaurant with lots of great choices on the menu..not cheap,but still reasonably priced for the casino .
Our waitress was quite nice and helpful with any questions,and a couple of good suggestions .

The two times we were there our credit card number was copied and used for purchases out of CT. Use cash if possible. The food is great but there must be some thieves there.

We eat here every time we visit Connecticut. It is our absolute favorite date night spot. Tableside guacamole is phenomenal. Get the empanadas and a margarita as well! Can't go wrong!

My wife and I went here for dinner. Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere. The best Fish Tacos and Guacamole I have ever had. Awesome wait staff, super nice and attentive. I highly recommend everyone check this place out!

Well, I am a local and have been coming to SolToro for a while and all I can say is that it used to be better.

The atmosphere was changed a while back from a nice rustic wood decor to a new white "Cancun Resort Restaurant" style. Not good, not intimate at all now. The food stayed the same, which WAS great, but on 12/31 I went and the food as completely changed for the worse.

Food. I ordered the simple chimichanga. The meat was more like a ground hamburger with a gravy sauce, not like it used to be. The rice was dry and the black beans were way over done.

Service. The waiter was nice at first, but when we did not order drinks, he attitude changed to a fast food service type place. Not impressed

Menu. The menu is small. Much smaller then years passed and one side of the two sided menu was dedicated alcohol, a little over done.

SolToro is ok at best. For the money, go to Michael Jordans and eat on the sports bar side. Always a great meal with more choices.

Food is great, waitstaff very nice and attended fairly quickly after being seated. Didn t give them a 5 star because of my only complain which is the hostess. You would expect the person to be the face of your establishment to be warm and friendly but she just looked like she was there because she had to. The way she attended to us was very dismissive and cold. This is our second time eating here and it was the same the last time we came. She should definitely have some customer service training.

Tasty Mexican food. Guacamole made table side was very good. I enjoyed the sangria but wish it was made stronger. Fish tacos were delicious, rice and beans were also very flavorful. Great music playing in the background. Good quick friendly service!

Be careful when ordering the Nachos. They will ruin your meal. They are so big and delicious, doesn't leave much room for your dinner. Loved this place.

Resort style fake Mexican food. Meh at best. The tableside guacamole was good, but everything else was just ok and overpriced, including the drinks. Wouldn't recommend.

The best variety of tequila around. Plus they make their own salsa. One of the better and classier Mexican restaurants you will find. Update had a some great drinks there and great conversations with the staff. Good people. Thanks for a great night. Ps the nachos ans and salsa are free!!!

We had a great time and the food was delicious ! Table side guacamole made fresh just the way we like it! The hostess went out of her way to make us comfortable with our seating arrangements and our waiter JOSH was very attentive and he gave us excellent service and was extremely helpful! Definitely a place to visit!

Decent quality food. Good service. Margs are over rated, super sugary, low quality tequila. Pictured is the empanadas and wontons. Which were great.

The waitress was absolutely amazing! Loved the ambiance. Food was amazing. The only complaint I had was when the hostess brought us to our table, she didn't care to see if we were following. She dropped our menus on the table and walked away without saying a word.

Typically one of favorite bars to grab a drink and small plates to share, not sure what happened last night, but our Espresso Martini was not sweet & delicious as usual, we couldn t drink it, even after adding water, and our queso was a blob of gooey cheese, not queso. Very disappointed.

Delicious margaritas, chips & salsa, and tableside guacamole. The prices are a little high, but that s to be expected in a casino. The staff was super friendly and attentive. There were LOTS of tequilas to choose from. We will be returning.

We went on the night of their grand reopening and there was a small mix up with the hosts. Our server John was awesome and totally made sure we were well taken care of. The food and drinks were delicious and the bottomless chips and salsa were a good. The gacu was also delicious, and they make it right at ur table. My friend had a burrito and i had the steak tacos. We wish we could go more often.

Great food. The guacamole is the best I've ever had.

My husband and I are local and have been eating here for years, it has always been good but last night was exceptional. So much so that it inspired me to write a review. We had a reservation and were greeted by a smiling, friendly hostess and shown to our table right away. Our server was a bit in the weeds as the restaurant was full but he made sure to keep the chips and salsa and waters coming while we waited. We ordered the table side spicy pinapple rita, which took a bit of time, but was well worth the wait. It was probably the best margarita I've ever had. We opted for a few different appetizers to share over entrees for dinner and everything we had tasted fresh and delicious. Our server Atif (I hope I spelled his name right) was super attentive and friendly, which is hard to do when you're as busy as he was (I know, I've been a server for 20 years). Having worked in a restaurant for so long, I am probably more patient than others when having to wait for food or drinks, and while some of it did take a little longer, we were checked on by our waiter and a manager on more than one occasion and were out of there in plenty of time to make the show we were seeing. Overall this experience was a 10 out of 10 for excellent food and beverages and overall service. I would highly recommend.

The service was awesome and the food was fantastic! Some of the best guacamole I've ever had! Putting roasted vegetables in the guac?!, brilliant! The street tacos, omg amazing! Katie behind the bar was so friendly and took care of us, and it was our first time, will definitely be back! Scott the manager was a breath of fresh air on how pleasant he was! Great job!

Duck tacos w/ avocado vinegarette and chips w/ guac James did a great job, he took good care of my gluten free status as well as my vegan friend. Food was incredible.

This place has amazing food. Very authentic and tasty. The ambiance is also pretty cool. They make guacamole right in front of you and are willing to add whatever you want to it to make it a truly unique experience. Drinks were generous with alcohol. Have to go here!

Worth the wait. Food is top notch. The house salsa that comes with the chips are insane. A little pricey but that hurts less when the food is good.

Nice Mexican restaurant (recently redone). Food was good, service was good...waitress was attentive and came back frequently making sure we were well taken care of.

Always thought of this place a 3/3.5 because we have only had two excellent server/bartender(s) (Frank & Wanda). Margaritas are wonderful!! Food consistent. Wanda, our bartender was the epitome of excellent service. Attentive, personable, aware of all of her guests. Nice change for this place!!

Went here last night, got in line behind a lady that was asking a question at the host/hostess stand, which was what I also needed to do. As I waited 2 more groups of people came and stood to my left. It was near impossible to not see that I was next in line. There was several employees at the the stand and for lake of better terms appeared to be doing nothing other than standing there, that is the impression it gave anyways. If there not there to assist they shouldn't be standing there because there is no way to differ there title from host not doing anything to waiter or waitress waiting on directions. All the work was being done by one person, and just for description sake was a young black girl. After finishing with the lady she completely ignored me and proceeded to assist the next person to my left instead, my intuition would tell me it was intentional, but how can I prove that? I stepped in and said "excuse me I'm next", and asked what the wait time was, and she snapped at me quickly before I even finished, "Hour Plus"!, I walked out!

I like microwave enchiladas, but I don't like paying $26 for microwave enchiladas.

Great authentic Style Mexican food integrate atmosphere. The tortilla chips and salsa which are free are fantastic the chips come out nice and hot.

Never go wrong with some Mexican food, no wait even though we made reservations. I had the stuffed jalapenos and shrimp tacos. My wife had blackened fish tacos. Delish!!

Unfortunately, this place has gone down in quality and up in price since the major renovations have taken place. This place was fabulous when they first opened and I've been coming here for over 10 years. I remember being there on one of their busiest days, 12/8/2012 and could not believe how great the service, staff and food was. Fast forward to 2019: They got rid of the tall, unique tequila bar which was really a staple. I understand what they were trying to do with a modern design, but it has really lost its charm. Every interaction with the wait staff seems very transactional. The "large" guacamole, 2 avacados hastely prepared tableside, priced at $20 is absolute highway robbery. Completely unreasonable, but they know that guests will order guacamole when they go to a Mexican restaurant. The house margarita mix is good and the bartenders are a good time. Overall, this is a decent place to get your taco game on before a concert or hitting the tables/slots, just don't expect anything special.

Waitstaff was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. My wife and I were attending a show and came in for dinner before hand. We order the tableside guacamole and the tuna ceviche. Both were delicious, although we ordered medium guacamole and found it not to be very spicy at all. We were used to a little more kick. The fish tacos were fresh. We ordered the fish blackened for some extra spice. We would definitely plan a return visit.

I wish I could give more stars. This food is Out of this world! Some of the best food I have EVER had. Currently eating a chiro. Staff was excellent, food is magical levels of good. I am moved by this food. Hats off to the chef for creating such fantastic food!

First time at this restaurant and loved the experience! We went for a friend s birthday and since I have some food allergies, I usually just order a simple salad to make sure I don t accidentally eat something I m allergic to. To my surprise, our waiter, James, was really accommodating and knowledgeable of substitutes I could have to avoid foods that I can t have. I was so impressed! I don t think I ve been to any restaurant where a waiter or waitress has been that helpful to me. The food was amazing and the service was even better! I highly recommend this place! Ask for James if you want amazing service!

Thank you very much we had an amazing experience here and the food was amazing. We had great Service, If you want to be treated like a valued guest this is the spot for you. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a solid meal. You did not feel rushed you could enjoy your meal. The food was delicious, and the prices are reasonable as well. We will be returning soon.

Do not order the margarita unless you really like sour mix. Dinner was fine but the desserts were underwhelming.

They used to be great until they changed the place and made it all goofy looking inside. It's Mexican, nothing you did looks Mexican and the menu sucks now too. Booooooo

I had the duck tacos, I thought was pretty good, My co worker had the enchiladas he wasnt impressed. my bill was 30.00 I did get a drink...shhh dont tell. The waitress was nice she was also the bar tender .

Excellent appetizers and entrees. My husband and I were unhappy with the fact that our original waitress did not attend to us, after sitting for 15 minutes Josh the waiter jumped in and took very good care of us. He is definitely a fantastic server and Soltoro should recognize him for his hard work. Thank you Josh for your great service, we will definitely be back again soon!!

Everyone even the picky eaters in our group loved their dishes. Waitstaff were all extremely nice.

Good food, great tequila selection, friendly staff

A little pricey but waitstaff was very good and the food was tasty. We got Sangria and it was very good. My wife s tacos were a little dry but overall a good spot.

Service could be better, the food is pretty good. I do like the new remodel of the restaurant, that came out very nice, it's a lot brighter.

Had to wait about 40 minutes but was able to hit the slots during that time, food was excellent! Staff was excellent! Great atmosphere!! Loved it there! Would definitely go back!!! A little pricy but it's the casino!

Good food and we enjoyed the bottomless chips with salsa. One of the best values at Mohegan Sun, it is unfortunate they are only open on the weekend.

Great atmosphere! Tacos are awesome wish they were a little bigger but the nachos are huge.

This place has gone down hill. What used to be a wonderful beef burrito meal is now an understuffed burrito with a dash of rice and beans!

So disappointed. Service was also a fail. Our dessert was never brought out,. We decided to just pay the bill and leave.

The service at this restaurant was the worst service of any restaurant I ve ever been too. Don t get me wrong the food was excellent but that was the only good thing about the restaurant. You walk into the restaurant to be seated, (a pretty much empty floor) on a Saturday night, the host takes you to your reserved table, which already has customers at it. After seated, we didn t get water until after our appetizers were served. When we tried to get the attention of a nearby server to ask for water, they said that, oh your waitress will get it for you. How are they still in business!? I can say, hands down, will never go back to this restaurant. I never give restaurants reviews, but I felt it necessary to alert those who want to spend a nice evening out at Mohegan Sun. Don t waste your money on terrible service.

This is our 3rd time here and it has never disappointed us! Drinks were very good. We had some apps tonight, ceviche and nachos. Both were delicious! Our waiter, Kerby, was so nice and knowledgeable. He was always available if needed. Even the manager came to see how things were. This is an example great customer service.

Sol Toro is my go to place for mexican cuisine and great tequila. Reserved a table on cinco de mayo for a bachelor party. They were more than accommodating. Highly recommend the high roller margarita. Loved it so much my girlfriend and I went back last night to have another. Frank makes them perfect, fantastic bartender. Him and Katie create a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere at the bar together.

They boast the slogan--tequila, guac, and tacos, and they do deliver on all three. Believe it or not, we visit Mohegan just to enjoy this eatery, which serves a delightful, colorful Southwestern fare, including the slogan three, but so much more.

On our latest trip, we ordered fish tacos and chopped salad, which were both excellent. The salad had candied pumpkin seeds, avocado, corn, and lots of other goodies, making it a lovely sweet salad. The fish tacos (3) are made with mahi (grateful it is not tilapia), and are tasty served with lime and salsa. Speaking of salsa, the bucket of chips comes with the best roasted tomato salsa anywhere. Worth the calories--and thankfully, none of those come from Canola. They use a true vegetable oil, which gets high marks from us.

Manager Rebecca Muraski makes it a point to visit every table, like fine restaurant managers do, and we find that to be exceptional, considering this place is inside a casino. Also, our server Kat was excellent, and anticipated our every request in just the right level of interaction.

We highly suggest Sol Toro (Sun's bull) for your next Mexican craving.

Rude staff and got the worst stomach pains after eating there and nothing I had was spicy...

I decided to try SolToro after a coworker highly recommended it. Unfortunately it turned out to be the worst dining experience. I ordered a strawberry margarita and willingly offered up my ID knowing that I look close to the age of 21, (I am turning 23 in May). The waiter looked at my ID and then gave it back to me without saying a word. Then I proceeded to show a friend at the table my new ID as I have the new type of Rhode Island ID. While my friend was looking at the ID, the waiter came up behind him and rudely snatched it from his hands without saying a word.

Bothered and confused by the waiter's actions, I confronted the hostesses and asked what was going on. The hostesses basically ignored me and laughed at my questions. They treated me as if I was trying to pull a fast one on them and give them a fake ID. I was very frustrated and annoyed so I went back to my table and waited for someone to come over and let me know what was going on. The manager eventually came over and stated that he thought my ID was a fake and said he was going to call the front desk at Mohegan to ask about it. I insisted that it wasn't a fake, I showed him my credit card and my former college ID and also gave him permission to do whatever he had to do. During the mean time (20 mins) we were ignored by the wait staff besides the obviously stares while they were gossiping about the situation. I felt very uncomfortable / mistreated. The manager finally came over and told me I had to sign a waiver basically saying I am over 21 and if I am not I would take all responsibility / penalties, which I was completely fine with as I AM OVER 21. The whole time the manager was at our table he acted as if he didn't believe me / I was lying. After signing the waiver, (at the very end of my meal) I finally received my margarita.

Overall, I was completely horrified at how I was treated as a customer at SolToro simply because the wait staff was unaware that RI issued a new type of ID. I completely understand that Mohegan Sun restaurants unfortunately get many fake IDs but I don't think that all customers should be treated as if they are liars based on ignorance/ suspicion. I would have been completely fine if the waiter had simply asked to verify the ID when he first looked at it.

It is a shame that horrible customer service ruined good Mexican food.

Great food. Very, very pricey. You'll pay the cost because you are stuck in a casino. I probably wouldn't go back just to eat there but if I'm at Mohegan for a show, I would consider this place for dinner.

The food is good. And the servers are very attentive.

We came here for our anniversary. I got the margarita with don Julio spot on. We got the guacamole and the chix wing. Well done. Our server Maria was kinda, knowledgeable and gave service you would expect!
