I like this place for the vibe and the food but it is a bit pricey, almost unnecessarily so. There are certainly other great food options more reasonably priced. I also went there one evening and there were only a few diners so most of the tables were available. We still had a 15-20 minute wait only to be seated at a table that we saw was available all along. That was a little frustrating because they never did explain why there was a wait.

Great atmosphere. Good food. Good service. The food was not 'amazing' per se - I has the blackened salmon and I felt it needed more seasoning. I also tried their wings. They were nice but I wish they were a bit more moist and flavoursome inside. It was mainly covered in their sticky sauce which tastes good - the chicken just needed to be more moist and seasoned inside.

Would still recommend to go - their fried chicken and red velvet waffles looks delightful.

Last night finally went to the place everyone talks about. By using just the eyes, the ambiance is really nice. The back space outside is beautiful. We arrived and had to wait 30-35 minutes, then we were seated outside but walking in we see all these empty seats. We asked to be moved inside, I guess it was the worst mistake. Crystal was our server, after being seated my sister & I order a drink she gives my guess more time to decide then she disappears for well over 15 minutes. We have to ask this really sweet busboy who originally helped us move inside to get our server. Still no drinks arrive and finally she takes entree orders, I ask "honestly speaking how long will the food take?" She says they were busy running behind so will take time so she would order appetizer so I did because I was starving; my sister ordered the plain cornbread. Now the chicken wings was delicious and so was the cornbread, the butter they provide with it was simply tasty. About maybe 20-30est minutes later food comes (we asked about it maybe once). I ordered blackened salmon which was really good, moist and the citrus sweet potato mash was nice compliment but the green beans had me a little disappointed. The menu started garlic sauteed green beans but I didn't taste anything garlic but they were cooked well not over done. My sister had the salmon burger while we shared the Mac n cheese. The Mac n Cheese looks great, comes out in cast iron skillet butt was very disappointing all you rate is garlic garlic garlic. It was missing something we couldn't really tell, maybe salt maybe paprika maybe black pepper I don't know but it wasn't great. The cocktails were good, being a native Brooklyn I had the Brooklyn Bellini it was cute. My sister had the Brooklyn Brown. Overall I don't see what the hype was all about and I don't think I'll be going back again. My aunt said it's hard to go to southern food restaurant because it's our culture and we get over critical if things aren't tasting/looking right.

The food is just ok and is a bit overpriced for the quality. My main issue stems from the door guy making me take my winter hat off in the middle of winter when the restaurant was like 60 degrees. Not only that but like 7 guys walked in after me wearing a hat and he didn't say a word to them. Needless to say I put my hat back on and he came over to tell me to remove it. I said I would when he made the others that walked he refused to do so and so did I. Probably won't return there are so many other quality spots in the area.

Excellent customer service. The location and relaxed, but trendy ambience make for a great date night. I had a great time and while the conversation was plentiful before dinner came out, no one said a word while we ate.
I had the steak frites. It was juicy, cooked to perfection and left me very satisfied. Everyone in our group was happy.

I'm sitting in a faraway place out there in NY state, a place they call Long Island. I will not be having this. Long Island is a far departure from the hectic busy life of Manhattan, so I drove long and far to get to Brooklyn and get me some classic chicken and waffles.

SoCo is a trendier version of Roscoe's. When Roscoe's gives you big plate, bit portions, SoCo gives you big plate and not-as-big portions. No matter, the food was pretty delicious. I had the staple, the popular, the legendary:

-=-Buttermilk Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles-=- $18. Good, expensive, but unique. Who will not bow down to Red Velvet waffles. It was soft, but lightly not-overly sweet. The chicken on top was really the highlight here though. It was not oily at all for something fried. There is a definite emphasis on the "buttermilk" part of the name. The chicken meat itself was soft and went down pretty easily despite the constant food gorging of my NY trip.

Maya was my server at the bar, and she was attentive for the most part at during the busy hour that I was there. She offered the Mother's Milk Beer on tap which was a good compliment to my meal. Hell, beer is good with anything. If you find yourself in Brooklyn and don't want to make the hours-long wait at Grimaldi, check this place out.

I hate patronizing black owned businesses but I was really disappointed by our visit last night. Usually when I come here I sit at the bar but this time I decided to bring my family to enjoy the food and sit at a table. My food lacked flavor, the service was very slow, we received our food before our drinks and my server forgot many items from our orders. Although my server was very kind, his service was also slow. A table next to mine had drinks spilled on them by a waiter as well. In all I believe they were just having a bad night and I hope when I return next time everything will be up to par.

Service was amazing. Food and drinks bought out promptly. No long wait, acknowledged upon entering the restaurant. Bbq chicken dinner was good, chicken and waffles not so good. Waffle was very heavy and didn't taste like red velvet, it tasted like they use cornmeal. Chicken was boneless and bone in and over cooked.

Im giving 1 Star for there customer Service.. So I placed an order at 5:40pm today over the phone. For the B54 which is the hamburger. After I paid I asked how long would it take. I was Told 25 minutes. So I said ok np I m gunna wait in the car. At 6:00 I called and they said another 15 minutes - So I ran Inside and paid for the food and then continue to wait In my car And if u know Soco there is No Parking on Myrtle Ave. So I had to stay in the car to make sure I don t catch a ticket now it s like 630 and I asked you know where is the food? When I turn around and look outside I see the traffic cops giving a ticket to the car behind me so I ran in the car went around the Block-
I decided to call Soco and asked to just give me the money back because I can t be waiting and driving in circles and I can t afford to catch a Bus stop ticket. When I went back in to Soco for the refund they said oh let me check to see if The Food is done- I said OK I went back to the car waited but at this point now a traffic car is behind me running the siren and they wanted me to move so I got in and I had to go around the block for the fourth time... When I got back to soco around 6:45 pm the food was done... Soo I have no problem with the food the food is great but the customer service sucks if you take an order and you say 25 minutes.. then it should be that Not an hour for 1 hamburger...

So when u take phone orders give the right waiting time..

Good food and atmosphere but slow service. It took about 25 minutes for my food to arrive. I ordered the wings, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Collards were mediocre and they wouldn't take them off my tab. Had a great cocktail with whiskey and strawberry puree.

This review doesn t deserve any stars except that the waitress was extremely nice and did a great job at attending to us. My meal had a hair in it, and all I was offered from the restaurant manager was a $2 discount. The least that could have been done was that my meal was comped and to be given a sincere apology not just a $2 discount. I will not return to this establishment even if I was offered a free me.

I went here yesterday and was denied to eat here because I was wearing a hat. I am a professional women with style and was astonished that this rule applied to women. Ive been to more lavish places and NEVER had this experience. Normally the no hat rule applies to men. You deserve a zero rating in my opinion. Smh..

food wasn't bad had a great reasonable menu. the only reason I would never come back here is because two doors down from this restaurant is a construction site that has a gang of rodents running up in down the block making it very disgusting when your sitting out front. this made me not even want to eat anything n im not odn there was atleast 30-50 rats big small running all over the block even jump on a mans shoe it was disturbing to watch

I was here celebrating my birthday/on a date and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It was my second time there so I feel confident saying their food is of consistently good quality. Our only snag was with the host (white man with a man bun is the best description I can offer), who was cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming; instead of greeting us as we came in, his first thought was to tell us that they were booked. He then walked away before we could reply and my boyfriend had to follow him, get his attention, and inform him that we did in fact have a reservation. As far as making solid first impressions, he did not meet the basic standards of a good host. Luckily, we didn't have to speak to him again and received wonderful service from our server who was kind, professional, and charming.

Yesterday was my first time visiting Soco. I've wanted to come here for months and finally got around to it. I was SO excited. The staff was very unprofessional, one of the busboys hit on me right in front of my date. I ordered a salad and the salad came to my table not cut at all. My date had to cut it up for me I was so upset. The manager caused a scene inside and outside of the restaurant. Even as I told him that he was ruining my experience and that I didn't want to speak about the issue long than I had. He should handle problems with his employees internally. He then told my date that if he was in the same situation he would've "slapped the busboy". Other than the salad the presentation of the food was 10/10 . The manager was so ready to get his employee in trouble and it was very obvious that his behavior is inappropriate quite often cause two of the female employees expressed her uncomfortability with him in the workplace upon arrival. Food was lovely but it was outshaded by the staff. I was so disappointed.

The pecan pork-chop was excellent. Juicy! With it, my friend and I ordered a pitcher of the fresh watermelon puree and rum concoction, an original of Soco. It was also quite tasty, but not quite enough to leave you satisfied.

Nice environment, friendly staff. A bit pricey; The Shrimp, Lobster, and Grits was delicious, but a bit pricey. For $29, it wasn't a big portion at all. The Mac & Cheese was very good as well. Enjoyed their brunch menu.

Upon the high recommendations of my friend I decided to try out Soco and I was very happy that I did.

The food: We ordered the red velvet chicken and waffles, the mac and cheese, and the brisket. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the red velvet waffle was ok, but nothing extremely special. The brisket was spicy and tender and paired well with the collard greens and mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious - like probably the best I have EVER eaten... I wish I could accurately put into words how amazing it was, but instead I just recommend that you come here yourself, like today, and try it. You will be blown away.

The price: The prices were standard for NYC - for the food and one drink, it came to just under $100 with tip.

The staff: We ate at the bar because it was packed on a Saturday night and we were hungry, so we interacted with the hostess and bartender only. The hostess was extremely friendly and even checked in on us. The bartender although very busy was friendly as well. The only downside was that the food was delivered a little slowly from the kitchen.

Overall, a good experience and definitely worth coming back another time. They have a good variety of southern foods on the menu that I am excited to try out (and I will definitely be back for the mac and cheese!)

Amazing food, fun atmosphere and divine drinks. If you have a group make sure to make reservations excuse you will not be seated until your entire party is there. The staff is super friendly and brunch there was a highlight. Make sure you like the people you are dining with because it is cozy. The white cheddar grits with shrimp and lobster, their famous red velvet waffle with fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and cornbread were all nothing short of heavenly. If you are in the tequila mood delve into the he Hibiscus Agave Margarita you won't be disappointed.
