We went to a birthday party here yesterday and they made everything very easy. The kids had a blast and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Will be buying a pass for my kids for their Christmas present.
We also do the Christmas experience here witb Santa and LOVE it. It's so special for the kids and Santa is lovely to the children.
Took my 2year old & we had a good time on the snow tubes. Good snow. Ok for organisation in a sense of keeping the kids area sectioned well enough away from skiers as they come down the slope(the kids exiting the tubes section is right where skiers are ending their run), they sectioned it off after about a hour of it open freely.
Foods ok. I also understand customer service has its days and not everyone is perfect. But customer service in the cafe by wait staff (a male of which we had), could of done with a smile instead of making us feel like we annoyed then into doing their job whet toddler broke a cup. I get it (my daughter broke a cup), but whenever someone broke something in my store I would never look at them the way he looked at us . I m just saying as constructive criticism is all. Customer service takes a business a long way when done right
Great times had at Snowplanet. We took the kids there for some tubing and they had a blast. Bonus was the cafe for the grown ups, great food and atmosphere!
A great place to enjoy all the fun of skiing and snowboarding all year around. They also have a dedicated inner tube slope. And when you're done, a giant fireplace to sit next to and warm back up.
An awesome day to spend on the slope. A lesson with an instructor for the kids was well worth the price - gave them the confidence and the basic skills to continue on their own.
Some tips.
Early arrival is a must. Be there 9:30 for 10:00 opening to avoid the queues and to make sure they have enough gear. By midday on busy days all the most popular sizes are gone.
A bit more signage and explanations about where to store the gear when not in use, would be helpful. Beware that any gear placed on the bags at the bottom of the slope is collected by the staff and reused for new customers. Apparently the right place to keep your gear is inside, in any of the racks by the benches.
Tubing in skiing boots is forbidden. If you want to take a break from skiing and just go down in a tube - gotta change boots first.
The restaurant was a bit of a let down. The staff are evidently ran off their feet because tables don't get cleaned for a while, and there's cutlery and napkins missing on the tables. Keep an eye on how crowded it is, because by lunchtime you'll struggle to get a table. Also, avoid chicken fajita - the chicken was really dry, and the DIY fajitas don't quite work.
Excellent place to practice sky and snowboard, everyone in there are really nice.
Very good indoor ski resort, the restaurant food is very delicious.
The food was bad there childrens burger are no better than McDonald's burgers and the pork belly was burnt and dried out and tough
I feel they were under staffed today. Took ages at the clothes rental, the children with special needs needed more help but with not having enough staff that couldn't happen, the food took a long time as it was super busy at lunch time... the kids had a good time tho but werent sure what to do with the second hour after their lesson...
This was amazing and so much fun. Before skiing go here!
Enthusiastic, caring, supportive instructors and staff, everyone really patient, food and drinks excellent
Awesome experience. Food at the cafe was good. Plenty of food for the price. Quick process to get on the slope.
Overall the experience is positive. There are 2 activities: skiing and snow tubing. The covered area is not very big, they can introduce some more fun activities.
Was a really fun group experience. The food was pretty decent, the staff friendly and helpful, and had a blast with the snow tubes with a bunch of my colleagues
Very authentic skiing experience. Set up similar to ski fields and great winter wonderland for the kids.
Went on a weekend evening, exceptional value for money, especially if you take your own jacket, gloves and helmet.
The only place to hit the snow in Auckland. Period.
Good place for beginners to start. Nice easy slop and plenty of instructors tobook for lessons
This is a really great area for people to learn their chosen snowsport. I feel like if I had learner here it would have been a lot quicker than on the mountain. Just b pre-warned it is a lot harder on the mountain
The overall experience at Snow Planet was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The corporate games were fun and great for time building. The restaurant food was excellent and very well organised!
O for AWEOME!!! We are a rural, coastal school...so - for us - WHAT IS SNOW>>>> Our tamariki loved it...thanks!!
Went for granddaughters birthday with some of her school friends they had a great time in the snow and some food afterwards ample parking so no hassles
Great fun tubing with young kids. Great parking, clean restrooms and kids functions available
Our two kids have just finished the 10-week Rippers & Riders course and they loved it, a lot of the credit has to go to their instructor Luke who was absolutely fantastic with the kids and our youngest (only 4 & 1/2) in particular. For a young guy he showed awesome patience and encouragement which meant that the young ones experienced the most important thing - fun - in spades. Nevertheless, their learning curve between lessons 7 and 10 was impressive.
7 Summits (the bar/restaurant) definitely needs to invest in a 2nd till at or near their service area.
It's a very popular venue and generally a good experience.
My reviews off this place keep CHANGING, and it is really a mixed bag on how you experience it. I Had lessons there and the staff have been great, front desk great... But unfortunately I and my friends have find the hire dept staff are always rude when busy or near going home time.
There a good offer on at the moment for pass and hire late night. But the place is sooo busy, it runs out of gear and the line for the lift is bad..
Original Review 2018- "Awful staff in the hire area which really let the place down. Staff at reception and bar are good" two stars.
Had a response from the team at snow planet, (Lucy) they seem generally concerned about the bad customer service we experienced. Lucy kindly gave my wife a free pass and ski hire for day.
So went back six months later... Reception staff were really welcoming. being the weekend it was really busy with children parties, groups and families. But the staff managed to cope really well with the high demand and were on top form.
I do think its a tad expensive (but suppose they have got a giant freezer to keep cool), there lots of good offers on grabone and bookme.
Will visit again, and Lucy certainly made up for our original bad encounter.
Cool place to get cold. Make sure you have a waterproof glove, great price for family. Easy renting clothes, so much fun with the tubing with kids.
Went for the Christmas winter wonderland. Had a good experience. Want to go back and try snow boarding.
THE BEST SANTA EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! So much fun and "santa" was great very attentive and interactive. We ALL thoroughly enjoyed it! Would definitely do it again! THANKS SANTA!!!!!
Nice experience. Great facilities. Cashier queue very slow though. Otherwise all good
I always have a blast here even though I'm no good at skiing or snowboarding. Fun for the while family and friends.
Bad lift attendant made me wait 3 min!
I do training here!
It's cold, and awesome. Get to learn how to snowboard and enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant. Good way to spend the day. Definitely not the cheapest option, so maybe wait u til they have a special, or if you have snowboard/ skiing gear.
Always great fun. Especially to brush up on my skills before the winter!
Had loads of fun here one night with my work mate, the food was good, as well as good quality wine and coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful and facilities are good. Great place for learning to ski and get good training
We had my birthday gathering there. The scale is okay but the staffs are super kind and friendly! Enjoyed heaps and thank you!
Cool facility especially being so far from actual snow. Clean with friendly staff
Only complaint would be that the bathrooms and dining area are pretty awful. But I mean there's snow here which is great for snowboarding.
Great place to get up to speed with skiing before hitting the mount
We came here as we saw an online special (on the day of which we went) for hot summer nights, travelled from way out, only to say that we couldn t get this advertised specials as it had finished the day before. We showed the staff the special on our phones and they refused to honour the price even though it was clearly advertised. Ended up walking away as the staff were rude about it.
Suitable for beginners. T-bar going up is too slow though.
This is a good options for learning to ski all year round. My daughter had some lessons and the instructor was great. The cafe serves tasty food but is quite expensive and takes a very long time to be served. Overall a very enjoyable place to visit.
Tried snowboarding for the first time and took the private lesson. The trainer was very friendly and had an amazing patience.
Great!!! Fun with kids all afternoon...
It's a place to go.
We had our work Christmas function here, was an awesome day enjoyed by everyone and the food was amazing and there was so much of it. Highly recommended if you are looking for a fun filled Christmas function that will be enjoyed by everyone from littlies to the older generation!
Great place to learn or hone your skills as an aspiring park rat
Snowplanet were able to accommodate our school group of 60+ easily and everyone had a great time.
Loved this place as a great place for practice park skiing with many greats rails and jumps. But we have not had a jump for a long time. The terrain park plans also haven't been changed for a while either. Love this place but haven't been a long time due to lack of new terrain park.
We had our company Xmas due at snowplanet this year . Had an awesome day in the snow and surprisingly good food in the bistro. The staff was super friendly. All around a great place.
Good fun for the kids and good way to learn before going to the snow. Did get quite crowded at times but, staff were all super friendly and helpful. Keep an eye out for grab one deals to as can get expensive.
Liked it until sliding on the ice for a serious injury.
ACC must also hate it with a vengence.
A great pity as tis a wondeful way to keep fit and stay tuned for real snow experience.
Excellent place, staff so helpful, coffee great. A little expensive but the Santa Grotto was Amasing my grandson loved it and so did his Granddad.
I went to this place a few months ago, I bought the all day pass but ended up only spending about 2 hours there due to the rude staff. it was my first time visiting snow planet and I had no experience. i had fallen, because it was my first time and i didn't know how to get up, one the female staff member just looked and me and was trying to push me away because I had fallen in front of the escalator and I didn't know how to get up, she just pushed me out of the way and carried on instead of helping me get up. As I got up and carried on, the other staff members that were teaching people looked as if I was bothering them. I simply packed up my things and left. not a good experience wouldn't go back
Awesome fun a little expensive but good deal on night rides
Snowplanet has got to be the worst unorganized place in New Zealand. I came all the way from Sydney just to experience indoor skiing and once I got to snowplanet they were fully booked! I booked myself online to secure my place in there but once I got there they said that the place was full! Fortunately I was refunded.
Really well set up for children's party. However lack available staff to support the party.
staff are friendly and helpful, and this place is awesome! my daughter's never seen snow before so it's a great treat for us Aucklanders that don't get snow. prices are reasonable
Great for learning to ski during the off-season. Rental gear is getting pretty tired, but the snow is always there.
Lovely place, fully equipped and very attentive and helpful staff. We went there for a children's party. Well organised and the food was delicious, and the kids voted it the best party ever! A very popular place so the crowds were a bit much at times. Staff were friendly and helpful
Excellent substitute for the real thing. Great family fun.
Little bit pricey but worth it
A wonderful experience for our students and the staff always go the extra mile to give you the best experience.

School. This was an outstanding experience for our Year 6 students as an end of year reward. They had never touched snow let along skied so the excitement level was high, the poor kids could not comprehend how cold it was going to be, so were a bit shocked the first day, the second day brought more layers. Snowplanet staff were excellent with the amazing training they gave the students and all but one student was able to ski confidently at the end of the first day. The second day saw our students going higher and skiing with more confidence. Definitely a place we will go again. Thank you for providing such an awesome experience for our Decile One students, they will never forget it,
It's good if you go on the cheaper nights doesn't compare with the mount tho
It was lots of fun! But it s a shame you have to pay for every little thing even with a day pass :(
Awesome place. Our Xmas function was organized smoothly. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is so cozy place, food is delicious. Thank you, guys!
