Very tasty food, the service was good in the beginning. But as soon as you finished the food the staff were constantly at the table and we felt we were being rushed out to make room for the next customers.
It was a real shame as the flavours were really good and the meat was cooked very nicely with some good vegetable sides. Its a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. I would say I have tried it once, it was good but wouldnt go back again as the atmosphere wasnt that great when you go out for dinner and you cant even just sit quietly for a moment after your meal. Really need to rethink their customer service considering they include a service charge in the bill.

Convivial Boho eaterie with modest offal offering. Shoreditch clientelle and good, laid back atmosphere. Went for offal and had cow cheek, head and marrow. Food was so so. However, decent prices, great ambience and gorgeously shabby chic toilets

We only have good things to say about this place. The food is great, the drinks are very good and the wait staff is always spot on always there to check on your drink and offer to bring a refill before your drink is gone. Would recommend checking it out.

Best food i had in London!
The ox cheek is bind blowing, the little burger with beef brisket and chilli is something that you never want to finish and the sticky toffee....well...is just heaven.

The old fashioned is spot on and service is very attentive.

Have a seat outside....is very relaxing.
Been here 4 times already...i never been dissapointed.

The staff was very nice and helpful and Covid precautions seems to be taken seriously. The food however wasn't great. Both meat and sides were way to greasy and salty. I don't know if that's the usual standard because I had heard good reviews about this place, but I was quite disappointed.

Great barbecue to be eaten here. The fried asparagus, chargrilled greens, brisket and lamb rib really were superb dishes that I would recommend to anyone. The only dish I would not consider buying again is the aged beef rib as I didn't feel it was worth the expense compared to the lamb rib. If you're looking for a great barbecue place in central London and enjoy high quality food; then Smokestak is definitely the place for you.

Eat out to help out- great deal and amazing taste! We went different burgers but i regret that, should have 2 beef brisket, soooo good! We had pig tail and salsa to start with, pig tail was very crispy. Had caramel ice cream for dessert, loved it but it melted quite quickly, so eat fast or it can get messy haha. Recommend!!

The food was excellent, a fine balance of innovative and delicious cuisine. The service as you would expect was first class too. We heard great things about this resturant and it lived up to the high expectations!

Food was absolutely delicious! Great customer service from staff. I really enjoyed the food, the chef kindly added some pork ribs to my beef ribs because he said we waited a while - I didn't even notice to be honest. I was just happy they had everything on their menu as we came here late because we went to another rib joint nearby and they had no food. So I'm glad I enjoyed this meal with my hubby and son.

Great place! Good atmosphere, the whole place smells of smokey BBQ as you walk in (kinda fitting) and the food is great!! Not stupidly priced. But not cheap.
Almost everything we had was excellent however my favourite dish was the mushrooms on toast, rather odd for a BBQ restaurant, but they're amazing!

Came on the recommendation of a good friend who knows me very well! Simply exceptional BBQ food. The ox cheeks and pork ribs were a highlight.

The prices are at the very top end of what I would consider paying and a 12.5% service charge was automatically added to our bill for a table of 3 customers, so points off for that!

I can definitely recommend Smokestak if you've recently been paid and fancy treating yourself to some quality meats.

Ex Dinerama pop-up now has its own permenant resturant taking BBQ to the next level (and beyond). Pork ribs, Ox Cheek, Beef Brisket & rarebit jacket potato side are highlights! Great veggie options too! Outside seating, cool decor, local craft beers! A must go! Booking recommended if you're a bigger group or at the weekends.

Booked for a table for 4 for a Saturday lunch and was blown away by food and service! Highlights include the entrees and side dishes - pigtails, baked jacket potato, beetroot and whole fish were all delicious and bill was affordable for what we had. Will definitely be coming back!

The pork ribs and grilled aubergine were absolutely heavenly! A great find in the middle of shoreditch. Some of the best ribs I ve had in London. Soft, fatty and tasty! The service was great, seating outside and reasonably priced for what you get. Definitely going to return!

This is the place that your nose will lead you to!
Amazing barbecue restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch. You can smell it miles away, so no need for directions.
Regardless if you're vegetarian or classic meat eater you'll find something delicious within perfectly barbecued dishes on Smokestak menu. My absolute favourites were sea bream crudo, charred greens and scallops but beetroot, January King or aubergine were as good as. Not mentioning the meat of course
Decor is adequately rustic and quirky, front of house staff very friendly and chefs extremely skilled.
Definitely best bbq I've ever paid for. Already thinking of my next visit

Delicious food. We had pork cheeks, pork tail, and pork jowls to start followed by the large pork ribs and brisket for mains. Sorbet and rhubarb crumble for desert. All excellent. Thoroughly stuffed. Cocktails were excellent too. Well worth a visit. I will definitely be going back

Top class smokehouse cuisine in an accessible location at extremely affordable rates. I was actually a big fan of the charred vegetables and the aubergine, and the meats (brisket and ribs) were phenomenal. Service was exceptional and the whole experience was worth it. Definitely worth the visit

Really great food and filling, we were so full when we left. Our favourite was the pork belly and jacket potato, definitely try those. It's a sharing plate restaurant so get about 5-6 plates from the menu for 2 people.
Amazing customer service. We asked to move tables as we were in an awkward spot at first. Staff found us another table quickly and were very polite and accommodating. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting a cool, unique experience.

Tasty bbq! Cane here on the 4 for 10 eat out to help out offer. The crispy pig tails were really tasty. The brisket burger was also very good. Aubergine was reasonably good although I remember it being better on my previous visit. Chips were fresh albeit a bit over salted. The malt ice cream was tasty & refreshing. Customer service was very good, it was maybe a little loud inside.

Worst service I have ever encountered in London. 3...

Worst service I have ever encountered in London. 35minutes for 1st round of drinks to arrive. An hour following that for a single starter to arrive, followed oddly by all the mains 15minutes after. When we pointed out that we were awaiting 3/4 of our starters they whisked away our mains - to tease or to punish? We eventually got our starters, then the mains, with a single mini ramekin of sauce to share. Our second round of drinks required asking no less than 4 members of staff (let's be honest - no waiter worth their salt would choose to be associated with this rude and disinterested bunch) to bring them, and even then they only got 3/4 drinks correct. They neglected to clear the empty glasses and bottles from our table and at no point appeared to care, much less apologise for their level of "service" (even using the word service is rather a misnomer for what we endured). The food was average but not a competitor even for mass chains such as Bodeans. The decor itself was surly and dark and zero efforts at social distancing or any other Covid-safe measures were in place. Deeply, deeply disappointing experience with zero reasons to ever return.

Amended next day: remembered one positive - the pigs tails in sticky soy molasses were deliciously moreish

Very good meal at Smokestak on the weekend. This place is essentially a tapas BBQ joint whereby you can choose from a variety of medium sized dishes which is perfect for couples or a large group. Highly recommend the brisket buns, ox cheek and jacket potato.

You'll spend more but it's worth it.

Great vibe for friends getting together, high ceiling, dim lit lighting and
a cozy dining atmosphere.

Pigtails: 10/10 for creative ingredient and cooking method. Crunchy to the bones.
Ox Cheeks: 6/10 taste somewhat too salty and the sauce doubled the intensity instead of balancing.
Brisket bun: 9/10 Comforting and balancing flavours.
Salt baked beetroot, goat cheese, hazelnuts: 8/10 with the nuts as the star of the dish
Beef brisket, mustard barbecue: 8/10 better served in the Brisket buns
Thick-cut pork ribs, pickled cucumber: 8/10 Harmonised but will be perfect if the meat fell off the bone effortlessly...
Jacket potato, smoked rarebit: 9/10 lovely cheese, crunchy potato skin and outer layer, soft and creamy at the centre.
Sticky toffee pudding, clotted ice cream: 10/10 same awesomeness as in Hawksmoor but the clotted cream ice cream won it here.

My come-back order will be Pigtails, Brisket bun x2, Beef ribs, Jacket potato and Sticky toffee pudding

Very interesting and unique interior. Almost feels like you're the one who is being smoked. Food is great, but do yourself a favor and don't order too much like we did. One main is enough for two people as the flavors are strong and the meat is fatty. Make sure to get some veggies or salads. Try the ox cheek and brisket bun starters.

That place so unebelievably below average. It starts with the menu which is totally not transparent and clear (seriously check it out before you go). You have no idea what the starters, main, and sides are. In addition, they don't serve lamb or chicken (like what?).. we ordered a bottle of wine, it was so off, sommelier agreed to it and they were so kind to take it back and brought a new one. the new bottle was again so off but we didn't want to make a scene, didn't drink it, put it aside and just paid for it (don't order any wine under any circumstance!). the price was ok but considering we all left the place hungry (everyone had a main and a side) it's reasonable. the employees were friendly which barely brings it up to a 2 stars.

never ever will I go again and def. recommend NOT to go

one of the best places in London. Service was fast, lots of options for food. Brisket bun out of this world, as were the charred greens and jacket potato. Pork rib slighty dry but other than that, an amazing spot for sharing great food.

One star each for the aubergine & jacket potato dishes; all the meat ones we had were entirely unremarkable. What was remarkable was the service. Appreciate it s a busy restaurant and they need to keep covers ticketing over. But being kicked out early, having been seated late and with swathes of empty tables around you (and which were empty for some time), is just rude. As is being made to wait in the doorway. What an hour and 10 minute birthday dinner it was.

Too much noise for so little bang.

It's a very cool/hip place with a nice atmosphere as advertised.

Unfortunately that's where it ends.
I'm a big fan of BBQ and I have to say this place does not quite make it. Their sauce is good but the meat quality was a total disappointment. Every meat dish that we ordered was either over clocked and/or dry, plus besides the sauce the meat had little flavor. Even the veggie dishes were so-so.

Fair prices, nice service, good for a friend's gathering but not for an amazing steak out night.

Pretty much as you would expect with a place called Smokestack. Excellent smoked meats and other smokable items. Delicious ox cheek croquetta style cubes with anchovy mayo. The belly rib was to perfection. Could have done with a cold non alcohol beer as was not drinking but none available... but that didn't stop me walking away feeling very satisfied indeed.

The food at this place is out of this world.

The Ox cheek is amazing !!

Mushroom on toast was delicious.

Pork belly simply melts in your mouth

The brisket is insanely tender

Auvergne with feta is to simply die for as is the potato jacket with mustard

The rating here isn t a reflection of the quality of food but of the length of time it takes for food to be delivered. Food is actually a 5!!

The staff is lovely but needs support to deliver the exceptional food at exceptional levels of service

Would recommend but be prepared to wait.

Hands down, the best BBQ I ve had in London. Absolutely delectable dishes. High quality meat, full of flavour, and really, really great veggies and side dishes.

I only gave it 4/5 stars because they provide rather blunt knives. It s a bit of a joke trying to cut the food with the knives at the table; end up with bits of food flying off your plate. You need a real strong and sharp knife to cut through everything from the butter grilled potatoes to the top quality steak. If they just get new knives, I d give them 5/5.

We had planned to visit smokestak for my birthday right before lockdown began I had been a couple of times previously including my last birthday and loved the place. We came back and had a great night the pulled pork, brisket bun and pit beans were absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately I was disappointed that my favourite dish the sea bream was no longer on the menu and that the ox cheak something that I rave about (and was still amazing) was a a bit burnt which was a bit disappointing considering the quality I had experienced before. The service however was fantastic and I would recommend to anyone who hasn't to try this place out.

It was easy to book a table for 4 but somewhat disappointed with the fact that they put us on 2 round tables connected to each other rather than a table for 4 (the table was booked 4 weeks in advance). The waiters were friendly though they kept doing a count down (2hrs -1.5hrs -1 hr - 30min - 0min) till they almost kicked us out by coming to our table with the check and a card machine. The main menus is overpriced for the amount offered (13 pounds for 2 slices of brisket on a tray!) Also during the night the portion changed sizes. I was very disappointed and I will not be going there or recommend it to anyone again.

Major let down. The table was so small it had us knocking our knees. The portion size of the brisket, for 13 pounds, was literally 2 thin slices. I liked the jacket potato but wasn't included in 13 quid. When it boils down to it, 2 slices of brisket for 13 pounds in crampt positions was steep.

As soon as I walked in I loved this place. You are instantly hit by the smoked BBQ aroma, followed visually by the pass where the food leaving is prepared in full view for all to see and even the option to sit here. Staff were very helpful, allowing us to move table to suit our children, changing our order, and numerous cutlery that was replaced due to my 3 year old dropping it.....nothing was any hassle. The decor is cool and well suited to Shoreditch. Food, staff, place and service are excellent.

The Smokestak restaurant is located on Scalater Street in Shoreditch.
It provides grilled and barbeque style meals in simple, rustic environment.
Currently the restaurant is conforming to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and so there is reduced seating capacity than normal.
The crispy pigtails are a favourite mainstay. Also ordered the pork belly ribs, pulled pork bun and a side of chips. Everything was delicious.

Amazing smoked meat. The interior is quite interesting as you sit right next to their smoking ovens (?) and slabs of meat cool down right in front of your eyes. The portions are relatively small and pricy compared to more mainstream bbq joints, however, they do fill you up. When ordering meat thats all you get so make sure you take some sides as well, there wont be any chips which i found refreshing and made me appreciate the fantastic meat that much more.

Great experience at smoke stak. Coming from Texas and loving BBQ I wasn t to sure about eating here. But they did not disappoint. We started off with the ox cheek. It was delicious. We shared the eggplant, pastrami and some fries. Claudia was our waitress. She was awesome. 5 stars from me.
