Our waiter saved this from being a one star review.
My family of four had Christmas brunch at the Four Seasons. First, the good. The food was plentiful and tasteful, as I had previously experienced. Expensive, but worth it. The dining room staff was especially friendly.
Our experience, however, did not begin well. My wife made reservations weeks in advance and asked for a table by the window in the main dining room. She was told at the time that the restaurant did not reserve tables; however, they would do their best to accommodate us. We were among the first to arrive and my wife again reminded the woman at check-in that we had requested a table by the window. We were taken to the main dining room but led to a table away from the window table we had requested. No other parties were in the dining room and all tables were open. We asked if we could sit at the requested table. The person who led us to the table left to ask the woman in the front who was assigning tables. After several minutes, he returned and told us that the table we requested was saved for a party that sits there every Christmas.
Okay Four Seasons, either you reserve tables or you don't. Just be up front and tell us. And, if so, put a reserve sign on it.
Our waiter, Dee Dee recognized our disappointment and ultimately arranged for us to sit at the table we requested in the first place. Dee Dee made our day! She was extremely attentive and exemplified true customer service and the Christmas spirit. It's amazing how one simple act of kindness can impact a person's experience.
I have no idea if that table was truly reserved or we were fed a bunch of bull, but it left a very sour taste in my mouth.
