Probably the best BBQ restaurant in London!!! Ever...
Probably the best BBQ restaurant in London!!! Everything's perfect: food, drinks, service and the place!
Ps: vegetarians do not fear, veggie dishes are amazing as well

Great place, very authentic and the food is amazing. We had brisket bun and beef brisket, respectively. Very tender and tasty beef.
The best restaurant in London! Food amazing, good beers ans cocktails, good price and the service was excellent :) Ahh don't forget to order the dessert
Absolutely amazing place for food and drink. Staff are warm and welcoming. George our waiter couldn't of been any more welcoming, funny and made our experience some memorable. Thank you Smokestak and thank you George
me and my wife had a lovely dinner,
good meat! great salads.
light and not havey:)
Lip smacking, sexy, smokey meat-bliss! Oh boy. And the peach feta salad was rocking too. Add in great service, filthy puds and a few cocktails and Smokestak was ticking every box. Thanks to the team for a great meal.
Literally one of the best BBQ smoke houses I've ever eaten in. The brisket bun is to die for.
Delicious tapas style BBQ dishes! The meat is nice and juicy. Downside is it can get pretty expensive because you will want to try as many things as possible!
Very popular restaurant with tasty dishes. You can stay for around 2 hours with food and drinks. As it is so popular, you will probably be moved on after that. The place has a buzzing atmosphere and is decorated nicely with dark colours and very dim lighting. Meat dishes are gorgeous. I had a salad with pomegrate which was tasty too but less green and more nutty.
Decent smoked meat, awesome corn on the cob. Most staff friendly but there was a moody one hence 3*
There's quite a few American bbq joints in London but very few of them get it right. These guys get it right and them some! The level of cooking on display is incredibly high.
Food is outstanding. Deep flavours but balanced and nuanced. The ribs (both pork and beef) are outstanding but so are the other items on the menu. Try the crispy pigs tails! Actually try as much as your stomach will allow you to! Drinks are fantastic as well. The peach old fashioned is one of the best I have tried.
This is seriously good food.
We had a fab meal here on my birthday. The Aubergine was amazing!
Delicious barbecue food, preferred it when they had big plate options rather than the tapas style system they have now
Mega food. Get the pigs head on toast as a starter, it's magnificent. Friendly service. Hard to figure out where the front door is haha
Amazing BBQ in Shoreditch with a mellow laid back vibe. Best ribs ever and beli5me when I say the roasted aubergine is to die for.... Bajan owned and proud to see a Caribbean establishment with such an iconic status in London... 5*
What a great place! It was quite late on Saturday night when we decided to come for a dinner, but even though it was close to kitchens closing time, the staff was brilliant and let us enjoy the whole experience of this place. The food was one of the best bbq meat I have ever eaten, but the veggies and desserts were also delicious. Not too expensive and the portions are generous. We had a few good craft beers, but finished with some cocktails which were as good as the food. Staff was very friendly, efficient and professional. The place has a really good vibe, loved the industrial decor, has its own style. Music was decent aswell, in general very relaxed atmosphere. Will definetly come back when in Shoreditch!
Sublime food! Meat is literally melting in your mouth. So delicious! Friendly service is a bonus.
Love love love (times infinity). I've visited Smokestak as part of a large group (dinner- set menu), small group (dinner and lunch), couple (dinner and lunch) and the food is always amazing!!
Can you tell, this is currently our go to place.
Pick anything in the menu and it won't disappoint.
They cater to vegetarians as well.
If possible, try to get al carte menu for large(ish) group, I think they work out better.
The food was ok ( a standard bbq offering for UK standards). However, the service was extremely slow and impolite. On top of that I observed Very low hygiene levels (dirty water glasses, dirty tables , sticky cutleries , toilets in a mess).
one of the best restaurants I have ever been to ! the pastrami was out of this world.
This place is insane. Really amazing. Free ice cream for my nephew while we waited for takeaway then two largers on the house as I had traveled 2 hours to get there. Not to mention the food which was to die for. Brisket nun, ox cheek and fries I can truly say this is a hidden gem located perfectly. Will be back for sure and a dine in experience. Beer was also great. Great work team SmokeStak
Everything I ate was delicious! I ate too much.. but that's my fault, and fact the food was so good!
The best brisket bun ever!!! We reserved online a table for two (if you don t specify that you want a table in your booking, you will probably end up seating in a bar table) and it was a good choice because the place was completely full. More
Perfect place for meat lovers! The beef brisket is cooked to perfection and the pastrami with pickled cucumbers is just something from another world I also recommend going for the coal roasted aubergine with cashew nuts, which is incredibly tasty. They also have a good selection of cocktails and drinks. If you are around, it s definitely worth a visit.
Miriam was Amazing! She took us on a journey of food that put us in a coma :) Starting with the small bites.. Brisket on bun full Flavor, Sausage had an interesting taste but Great, don't be scared to to dip in the applesauce. Cevechi comes alone ask for flat bread with it. Porkbelly is phenomenal! The Pastrami was like nothing we have ever tried, so tender and full of flavor. And the Potato was an explosion of flavor.
And for desert... there are 2 choices... DON'T DECIDE.... GET BOTH... you will not be disappointed.
Really great food; the smoker works wonders to any meat! The only dish I wasn t too fond of was the brisket; which was a little dry. Other than that, I really enjoyed the ox cheeks and the charred greens with pomegranate and peanuts. And the toffee pudding was ridiculous. FYI :)
Great Place for good grilled Meat. Even Vegetables are grilled and mixed with special spices! Ambient is also very special, combination with wood and concrete. Stuff is very kind and they helps you withe the menue!
Came here for lunch and had amazing experience. Small portion of food but great atmosphere. Many veggie options and it tastes fantastic. Would return again with friends.
We had the pork belly ribs, beef ribs and brisket. Very good quality and taste. Service a bit slow but was peak time on a Saturday evening.
Great place and great food. The meat was fab, but it was the salted caramel ice-cream with praline that stole the show for me. And I'm not even a dessert person! Defo give this place a go
This place is awesome! Convenient rates, considerable portions and the staff are always very kind.
Pork rib is tender and rich, beef rib is soft but dry, and they all don't have a lot of flavour. Needs lot of BBQ sauce for taste
Amazing place if you wanna impress someone on a date, or just to enjoy nice food
Friendly people, nice brutal design, enough vegan options (which are really decent), even though the main focus is meat
P.S. bathroom door slides sideways, for those of you who's keep pushing it like I did and end up thinking it's occupied
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Our waitress Louise was friendly and informative about the food ( we did ask a lot of questions!) The food was delicious and well presented.
We met the head chef and GM who were very happy to talk to us. Highly recommend
Great place! Smoking good food and genuinely friendly staff. Don't miss the Brisket! The desserts were surprisingly good too! Definitely going back!
It is one of the unmissable experiences of London. It's so good it's not fair. Where fine dining meats taste and it all happens in an unassuming, laid back surrounding.
Later update:
I've revisited this place and the quality has remained the same, prices have gone a bit up but the experience is still worth the money many times over.
The best thing on the menu along with the mushrooms on toast
Nice vibes. Beef cheek is tasty. Beef brisket looks better than it tastes. But still, I would go back again for sure
I appreciate the effort, and I admit the meat is quite good, but this place is overrated in my opinion. The staff is helpful, with the clear intention of kicking you out as soon as possible, that'd be 1h30 for a table for 2. The menu is attractive and looks reasonably priced, until you see how tiny all portions are. Wine list is uninteresting and very overpriced, quite predictable in Shoreditch. As for the decor, feels they've been dragged away with the industrial style and definitely overdid it: use the toilets only if absolutely necessary.
Had a good Friday evening dinner at the socially distanced version of Smokestak. With their menu limited in response to current happenings, we ordered the beef and pork belly ribs with a ginger slaw to share.
The pork belly was tasty with the more burnt parts definitely being my favourite. The beef rib was slightly dry, so I d opt for the fattier meat option.
The desserts were my favourite part of the meal. The ginger ice cream was amazing, served with a nice sticky toffee pudding. I know it should be sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, but that ginger ice cream definitely was the main event!
Please like if you found this helpful!
Came to Smokestak for a 4th of July celebration and we loved the bbq! Recommend getting the crispy ox tail to start, the pork rib, the beef brisket, and the beef rib. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic as well.
Has great outdoor seating that isn t too loud and very friendly service. Didn t wait too long for the food either. Would 100% come again!
This place clearly knows how to satisfy their clients. Always with a super friendly mindset. The food is reasonably priced, always fresh and clean.
Food was good, front of house needs to work on manners. 90 minute turnaround and was asked to hurry and move up. After work in London is as much social as culinary. Wouldn t go back for this reason, there s better places in the area.
This is my favourite food stop! The meat here used to be nothing short of sublime but since the original owners sold it standards have dropped ever so slightly. That is not to say the standard of the food is not still 10 times better than most other restaurants in and around the area. I remember when Smokstak was a stall in the winter wonderland and then was situated in dinerama so I have been a patron for many years. The burgers are to die for especially with the extra chillies on top, although the last time I went they forgot to give me any chillies at all! As the chefs change so dies the saltiness of the meat but after last week I feel this may have been addressed. If you have the chance and are in th2 mood for a tender slow cooked gourmet beef burger, this is the place! Excellente!!
Delicious, make sure you book ahead. Everything on the menu is worth a shot
Great food and the meat was delicious, although the place is a little too dark for dinner
Very basic table and chairs not comfortable. The brisket a bit tough. The guy that took us to the table when we eventually decided to come to the desk too cool for its own good. The waiter brilliant.
Love the brisket! The atmosphere used to be nicer, don t know exactly what has changed. And please bring back the potato cheese side dish as it was the bomb!
AWESOME!!! SPECTACULAR!!! AMAZING!!! TREMENDOUS!!! STUNNING!!!.... One of the best barbecue restaurant/steak house in town. Everything was perfect, mouthwatering but the ox cheek was goosebumps, something like a mouth sex. All the meats were perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was excellent, friendly and with a good knowledge about the dishes. Definitely I'll go again to try more and I highly recommended this place.
Incredible consistency. Great BBQ. Meticulous staff. It really is one of my favourite restaurants.
Everything is delicious, well thought out and had nicely balanced flavours. Eclectic menu for a BBQ joint, but it works really well.
One of my favourite places in London! The vibe is great, vintage and chilled, the staff is amazing, always helpful and assisting. The food is sooo delicious, surprisingly enough for both meat lovers and vegetarians! Highly recommended, it's a place you always want to come back to
Visited this place with my daughter and Son in Law. You have to try the coal roasted aubergine, packed with great flavours, absolutely awesome!! 30 day aged brisket very tasty. I will be back for some more.
Great food at a Great price with a good atmosphere
The pulled pork and the beef brisket were great! Highly recommend.
Very crowded place and seating is pretty tight.
The food was good and the staff was fast.
A big disadvantage is that you smell like a smoked piece of meat when leaving the restaurant.
Love this place. Great staff, interior an delicious food. Great value for the price too, considering it s London.
Lighting is so dim it's hard to read the menu's.
Menu is poorly structured to the point of being confusing, with not much of the way in choice. Staff were happy to explain the menu to us but knew exactly what the problems we were having were, which suggests the menu needs a redesign if this is a common problem that staff have to constantly solve.
Food was good, but nothing to shout about had better in London, from several different places.
Then had the cheek to charge two pins a bottle for tap water.
Would recommend not to go here.
Very good food. Reasonably priced for the area. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the service was not good. We had to spend a long time trying to get someone s attention any time we wanted to order a drink or add some food. Staff didn t seem overly interested in being nice to customers or welcoming.
Well meaning staff but the Sept Eat Out scheme isn t worth it, shared tacos, slim brisket burger and a cone once creame. Underwhelming
Good and tasty dishes. A little expensive but tasty. Personally, the BBQ dishes were a little over complicated for my personal preference. But, they were delicious. The aubergine and brisket stood out. Easy to miss as you walk past,so keep an eye out for the door and tiny logo
Really delicious food - the salted beef, pork belly and jacket potatoes were our favorites. Also lovely, friendly and efficient waitress who served us downstairs in the bar.
I don't get it. I'm a meat lover, came here because of the good reviews. I was so underwhelmed. Very basic bbq snacks, no more. Felt pretty gimmicky. The meat and bbq sauce were pretty.. Meh. Not bad, just very very basic. Def not somewhere to go if you're a foodie, in my opinion. But I'm clearly a minority here, I guess trendy young East London crowds dig it.
Come a long way from serving the most mouth watering brisket buns to this incredible restaurant. The ribs and brisket as you d expect are great but somehow the smoked aubergine still managed to be one of the best dishes. Nuggets were also awesome.
Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it s not the most affordable place but it s in line with other restaurants of the Cali we in the area.
An all time favourite in London, my favourites are the crispy Ox cheek and their jacket potato and of course the brisket. Could not believe that I could love a jacket potato as much as I did, its quite special for those who are underwhelmed by the sound of it.
One time when I came, part of my meal got really delayed and so the first part of my meal was cold by the time I got it. The staff use their initiative and have excellent customer service skills, bringing me a free replacement for the cold food on the house. Top stuff, and will continue to go here for a long time to come.
Just unbelievable food, highly recommend the beef rib and brisket. I m sad now though - no other meat will ever measure up! Get your butts to Smokestak
This place never disappoints. Everything from food to drinks and service was fab! My favourite BBQ in East London
Love this place! The food here is delicious! Could not recommend this place enough. Great menu, fun atmosphere, professional staff and tasty drinks.
Definitely the best smoked meat that I ever tasted.. staff was very helpful and cheerful.. every single thing on the menu that we ordered was super delicious and the prices are beyond acceptable. Earned a place on my personal best restaurant list
The food here was absolutely amazing. Met all our expectations and the staff were lovely. Really attentive and good chat. The aubergine was unbelievable. Social distancing wasn't done very well but then I guess its hard for businesses trying to stay afloat.
Winner winner brisket dinner. Add fries and greens, washed down with house lager. Very happy man. Simply delicious food cooked well.
This place is phenomenal. All the meats taste amazing - try the brisket in all forms!
Outstanding food, great service, beautiful location
Very tasty food. Could have been more/larger vegetable portions. Great atmosphere, and great service
Been a countless number of times and never been disappointed. Consistent smoked food (not just meat!) at its best. My only (snobbish) complaint is that the wine menu is limited and simple, but has never spoiled the experience.
I have eaten here a bunch of times but last night was super disappointed. Brisket was ok (6/10), beef rib literally tasted of nothing and pork belly was ok (5/10), both smothered in bbq sauce which is a big no no and generally meat was not More
Really good food and service was very quick too. Unfortunately they had limited options on the menu due to a power outage in the area.
Slightly on the noisy side and indeed very smoky!
Expensive, but really inventive menu with unique flavours on offer. To top things off, probably the most correct Brisket on offer in the UK. Limited menu is limited to just the good stuff.
I was definitely impressed with the quality of the food and the service ! I would return !
Having been to BBQ restaurants in the US, I can say with no hesitation that this restaurant is beyond the UK and on par with the US.
Good bbq, their own style but delicious. Small menu but varied, and while obviously meat heavy, you can get a bunch of small dishes to try. Gets very busy but if you plan to drop in for a quick meal and a drink it works well. A bit pricey, but very little competition doing this kind of thing well in London, so still recommended.
Went here with friends for EOTHO, we didn't have a reservation and you can't virtually queue so we did have to wait a while for an outside table, but they allow you to order drinks - so this makes the time go by quickly! All of the staff More
Came here after seeing it on YouTube. Was not disappointed! We shared some brisket and pork ribs and both were delicious. Some may say it's expensive but you are paying for the quality and the time that has gone into making this food - I don't know anywhere else that cooks their meat low and slow like this (12+ hours I heard one staff member say). Perfect as a treat for fans of BBQ food.
We ordered their delivery during lockdown (note that you must preorder) and had an amazing meal. Though the food did arrive a bit late, the food was superb and portion sizes quite generous. Highly recommend the beef brisket bun, beef ribs and sticky toffee pudding.
The food and service were ahead of our expectations. We absolutely loved the vibes of this place. Wonderful spot to take the family out for lunch.
Going back for a second time this evening. Great BBQ restaurant. Love the small plate concept so that you can share and try lots of dishes around the table. Tables for two can be a little on the small side though if you're ordering lots of dishes. Cocktail list has my favourite on too, try the Penicillin!
Excelent food. The Is cheeks are great and must be tried when you visit Smokestack
If you are into barbecue, this is the place for you. I tried the rib and it was really nice. In the menu they have a group brisket that needs to be booked in advance. Looks like I should go back for it!
Downstairs they also have a dive bar
A fantastic BBQ joint with such delicious options to choose from. Their dishes are made to share some you get to try various options. While the best dishes were stellar, the fish and vegetarian dishes were beyond phenomenal.
Amazing food & amazing service!!! I'll be back soon.
One of the worst customer service experiences I ve ever had in my life, no exaggeration, the MANAGER literally asked me to take my bare hands, take the bones from my finished plate, and put it into another bowl.
I m 100% sure I ve experience better service and food at KFC.
Please do not waste your hard earned money here.
Good company and happily accommodated despite it being very busy. Friendly staff. Nice food, arguably the food didn't make it great for me so bring good company and enjoy staff
Stylish interior, friendly staff.
The food is absolutely stunning. MUST TRY.
Highly recommend: beef rib eye, mushrooms on toast, sea bream.
The best meal i had at London, would come again if I go to London. Super crowded, luckily i made reservation. The brisket is to die for, the porks ribs wit pickle also (this is coming from someone who hate pickles), this dry aged beef ribs a bit more expensive compared the previous two but its all worth it if you compare with other londons food prices.
