I visited here once to buy something from the pharmacy. Seems like a clean and organized hospital overall. There is a bar and a small shop in the ground floor.
I have been coming to the Lucas Hospital for years. But I always thought it was a very nice hospital. But a lot has changed. Unfortunately I had to be there a few times and was helped by doctors in training, but they were great. But a complaint. The orthopedist who helped me, I found bad. 25 times therapy has not helped. Now walk behind the walker with a lot of pain.
My wife delivered a baby in this hospital. Because baby had a fever we had to stay for a week for antibiotics and checks.
We had spacious room where all three of us can stay. That was great experience and being with them all the time and helping my wife was good for all of us.
Almost all the nurses were extremely polite (there were so many of them), though some of them are not that experienced and helpful in providing "right" answers and assistance, while others were just fabulous. But that is expected.
During the labor my wife asked for the epidural and doctor showed up within minutes, and everything went fine.
Highly recommended.

I had to have an echo made of my hip, but in East I could only go on December 16th. That is too long for a decent person was also thought and OLVG east gave me good advice to go to the walk-in Radiology OLVG west, one can walk in in the morning and in the afternoon, in the afternoon from half past one to three o'clock . On the left side of the wall there are all papers that apparently need to be read first The waiting person explains what the intention is, that thing in my hand, number 16 is my sequential number. chairs too short, drag a chair from somewhere else, it is now 7 past half past 2. I have already called the OLVG / Lucas / Andreas if I did not need or could not make an appointment, just walk in between the specified time. at that moment 6 people waiting, number 11 has arrived, but who is joking I am surprised when I read the writing that is stuck to the wall. People with an appointment take precedence, people with an emergency appointment take precedence. Bla Bla Bla. A little walk-in, for who, not for the 6 who are there. Then something happens that literally drove my pants off in his Amsterdam style. The lady who calls the patients apologizes to them because they could not be helped exactly at the agreed time, they immediately think, "Oops, what a tidy". Great hospital. Friendly and highly skilled doctors and staff in the neurosurgery department. After a year of worrying at another hospital, I ended up in this hospital. Had surgery from my problems immediately.
Although I do not really like to come here, I can only say that I am always helped neatly and quickly. One of the best hospitals in the area! lovely people

This hospital was once great, but since it merged into the new organization it has been nothing short of bad. I already try 3 times to make an appointment for an operation and can already call back 3 times tomorrow. From now on I will go to the VU!
My mom was there for a heart attack. She was 'fired' too early and had to come back within 2 days ... Also the parking policy is ridiculous. 1 for 15 minutes = 4 per hour! The lords there want to get rich quickly over the backs of the people who don't even want to be there .................... SHAME!
Since the merger with OLVG Oost, healthcare has become a lot worse. Unsolicited and unmentioned I turned out to have an appointment in East instead of West. Respectless way of dealing with your clients in this way. Ophthalmology only has 1 telephone number, so you have to be careful where you meet.

2,5 uur gewacht in de hoop dat ik zsm aan de beurt zou komen.. Nou ik kwam maar niet aan de beurt. De service is heel slecht bij de spoedeisende hulp. Je wacht daar en mensen die zelfs na jou zijn gekomen die komen zelfs aan de beurt..
En laat me ook helemaal niet beginnen over de huisartsenpost daar beneden.. Wat een puinhoop. Medewerkers bepalen voor jou of je pijn hebt of niet. Er worden meningen gegeven over jouw eigen pijngrens en vinden het niet spoedwaardig terwijl men niet zomaar komt omdat er niks aan de hand is. Al vraag je om een afspraak wordt het niet gegeven, maar je betaalt wel jouw zorgverzekering elke maand.. Ik heb erop gezworen nooit maar dan ook nooit meer te komen daar.. De service is niks, en al ben je dood aan het gaan van de pijn alsnog hebben zij schijt aan je..

My mother has been walking for half a year with a foot that has been repeatedly treated incorrectly by incorrect diagnoses by incompetent personnel. Communication between staff and client is very poor. I'd rather be treated by the vet.
Excellent emergency unit also for kids. Very kind and well organized. It was so natural to speak english with the staff. Our Son got very quickly an excellent service. The visit was 100% covered with our German health insurrance, so nothing to pay on-site.

Arrived there with ankle injury at 23.00. After waiting in different corridors without anyone in front of me, at around 1.00 they finally could make an X-ray. At 2.00 they concluded that my foot is OK and I can go home and take paracetamol in case I have pain. After 5 months I receive invoice of 266 EUR, basically for having X-ray. When I called them for more details, they could not explain where exactly this amount comes from, but I have to pay it. And I still have pain in my ankle which is still a bit swollen.
Waiting for 6 months for an appointment with the dermatologist, 5 minutes late I had to make a new appointment that could take another 6 months.
To peace only the parking did not again spend 6 euros for parking
I can't say anything else that I think it's a good hospital. I came from the hospital in Sicily. A big trauma about being loved. 3 days of sweating and only then shoulder surgery and wrist surgery and then 3 more days without care and hygiene and afterwards eating and drinking. Still in an orthopedic hospital. (Get a sling of 50 euros in a shop!) Never get admitted to hospital Italy .. You can no longer get out of it because of the dose of morphine and pain. . Had to be operated on again in OLVG after returning after unsuccessful operation, but was very well taken care of and was even allowed to stay a day longer to be "pampered". Staff and surgeon were great. Now good memories (despite bad luck and misery) thanks to lovely nurses. Now checks and still personal attention.

The pediatric staff is fantastic. Very kind and prepared. The emergency room was also very kind. We are not Dutch and we spoke English all the time with the staff. It was a struggle to find so much humanity.

Ik noem dit ziekenhuis altijd liever het herstel-huis en is zo een beetje (helaas) ons tweede huis. Onze zoon is hier geboren en deze ervaring heb ik als bijzonder ervaren, vooral dankzij de hulp en de zorg die we toen ontvangen hebben tijdens alle hectiek.
Onze zoon is naderhand met enige regelmaat op de gipskamer te vinden en ik kan niet anders zeggen dat het stuk voor stuk toppers zijn daar! Ook de artsen van chirurgie waar we verschillende ervaringen mee hebben, zijn allemaal erg kundig en de afdeling acute zorg heeft mijn man ook heel goed verzorgd. Allemaal lief, vriendelijk en deskundig personeel.

Elke bezoek bij hem duurt rond 5 minuten waarvan hij 4 minuten hij is bezig met zijn computer en telefoon en dan zonder na te kijken schrijft recept uit weer antibiotica
Suzanna (spelling?), a nurse in the emergency room is AMAZING. I cut my hand open with glass and suspected I needed stitches. I was the only one in the waiting room and barely waited 1 minute before I was called in to be seen. My nurse, Suzanna, was incredibly kind, calm, compassionate, efficient, professional, and extremely detail oriented. I so appreciate how much attention she gave to each wound on my hand (5 of them total). She was very precise in matching up my skin folds. The whole emergency experience with her was so noteworthy, I had to write a positive review. If I could give her flowers for how great her care was, I would. She deserves a raise! :)
Vorige maand een slaaponderzoek gehad. Hoewel ik ruim op tijd was duurde het even, voordat ik werd geholpen. Twintig minuten na de afgesproken tijd ben ik gaan informeren. Ze waren me gewoon vergeten. Na 10 minuten ben ik alsnog geholpen. Alles bij elkaar heeft het maar 30 minuten geduurd, voordat ik geholpen kon worden.
Vandaag had ik een afspraak voor een uitslag van het slaaponderzoek. Vannacht kwam ik uit de nachtdienst en belde op om te informeren of het van belang was dat ik perse fysiek aanwezig moet zijn voor de uitslag en of het niet telefonisch kan.
Dat kan niet, omdat (wazige reden, blablabla) Nogmaals gevraagd of het echt van belang is dat ik aanwezig ben, omdat ik nog wat testen moet doen? Dat was niet zo. Ik moet wel perse langskomen voor een gesprek die mi ook telefonisch gevoerd kon worden. De afspraak kon alleen nog verzet worden. Nieuwe afspraak gemaakt.
Toen begon het toch aan me te knagen. Ik betaal 170,- premie per maand. Dit is de eerste keer in jaren dat ik gebruik maak van de zorg. Je verwacht toch een bepaalde niveau van service.
Els van de afdeling KNO weer gebeld. Deze keer klonk ze nog chagrijniger als de eerste keer. Aangegeven dat ik mijn afspraak wil annuleren. Op de vraag waarom, heb ik aangegeven dat het slechte service niveau mijn motivatie was.
Ik dacht dat ik boeren in Brabant had achtergelaten. Er lopen hier in Amsterdam nog genoeg rond.
Wij hebben aardig wat ervaring met dit ziekenhuis.

Very bad! I arrive with my girlfriend who has continually vomited and is without strength ... she had food poisoning ... before visiting it we are asked 100.79 otherwise they would not have visited because it was night (and therefore? ? there they are sick only during the day?) about 30 minutes between payment and various dossiers that we could do very well after the visit but instead no ... in case of serious illness we would have died before and then visited ... as if that were not enough, afterwards all this and after a further 15 minute wait, we go to the doctor and, without doing anything, he tells us that he shouldn't eat or drink and just rest ... unbelievable they didn't measure anything, not even the pressure or pressure .. ... things from the other world ... result we spent a very bad night and they even walked the 100.79 !! Our baby had to stay in the premature ward for a week. I was very criticized by a nurse from that department. (Because I only had a few hours to visit once a day) They also gave our baby home too soon. He didn't even drink his bottles yet, nor was he on his birth weight. Another nurse also disagreed that he was already allowed to go home.
I had my mother in holyday for few days,she had a simple cyst surgery in Italy and we went to this (hospital) where at 1help the woman refuse to change a bandages , because she mind have bacteria. I have no word to say anymore.

3 we went to marnixstraat where there is a 1help for tourist. And we get fast help and they replace the bandage with no complain.

Been to this hospital few times and every time I had an outstanding service and care.
The place is clean, colourful, quiet and rather cheerful, the routes are clearly indicated and the staff is extremely helpful and polite.
I actually live virtually next to a University Hospital in Amsterdam, but I rather cross the city and come to this hospital, rather then use my local facility.
Reasonable service. No coffee-tea machines unlike the vu hospital. Also reasonably long waiting times

Became ill with high fever and effects from leukemia and had to go to the hospital while visiting Amsterdam from US. Anti-biotics by IV, transfusions, platelets, 4 days in hospital. Great care and charge was about one-third of what my US hospital charges for out-patient transfusion alone. The care made US healthcare look absolutely second-rate.
Nice hospital, a while ago I visited a few times more often someone who had been hit by a car in the center. Nice hospital, warm atmosphere.

I am American and needed a prescription because my backpack was stolen at a bus stop and my prescription was in it. I am on Prednisone and I really can't go without it. My first stop was at the pharmacy where I was treated so nicely. The male pharm tech went out of his way to help me. He actually stopped a doctor and asked if he could help me which he could not. He let me use his computer to check my email where I was trying to get my doctor in the United States to send me a prescription via email. When I had been waiting awhile the pharm tech suggested me to go to what I think was the clinic area. It was #6 in the hospital. It was very easy to find and again the people there were extremely nice. I was able to get my prescription written there and filled at the pharmacy. My experience was more than excellent. I was able to enjoy my visit to the Netherlands, despite my rocky start.
When you enter its ER for emergency surgery, you have to wait two days. You may be sent home in the morning right after the surgery, as I was. Then comes a huge number on your bill. It is not a bad one, or to say it is one of the best hospitals in Amsterdam. But it is too busy.

went to the ER after a bike accident. although not particularly quick (total time around 3 hrs), I received good care, with good consultancy and a temporary cast to reduce risk with a wrist fracture.
one other time I had a minor eye surgery which turned out fine, although the doctor barely spoke English.

The GP post from the OLVG location West is a drama. Long waiting times, few doctors and you are always sent home without medication. Really outrageous ...
I saw Dr. E.A. Heldeweg in urologic department.Old school urology. This doctor is not at all interested in your problem. The answer is ready without going in depth into problem ( recurrent cystitis after intercourse) - antibiotics. After the cystoscopie it was me telling the urologist about potential risks of a cystitis provoked by this exam. As a result - a prescription of amoxicilline for 10 days. Scandalous. This antibiotic would not only kill the germs in the bladder but also the rest of bacterial flore in my body, especially taken for such a long time! Recurrent cystitis might also come from gynaecological problems ( vagina flore) or a disballance within intestinal flore. But the urologist in this centre cares less about any possibilities and non antibiotic solutions. He had his answer that it would be too hard to find the reason of my issues before even conducting the exams (x-Ray of abdomen, ultrason of kidneys and bladder + cystoscopie). This doctor dumbly follows the protocol, didn't seem at all to be implied and genuinely interested by the patient and apparently has no interest in finding a real solution. In France I would definitely be advised at least some homeopathic treatment to see if it works, an advice to consult the gynaecologist or other. All the pain and time for recurrent use of antibiotics. That's what I wanted to avoid coming here to consult. "I don't care" and non personalised approach of dr. Heldeweg are deeply frustrating. And this ease of using antibiotics (penicillins) not at all conceived especially for bladder problems for a long period of time without even mentioning the use of probiotics after the treatment .... Medically criminal.
A visit to the ER , I was treated in a timely manner. All the staff were efficient and friendly and made my visit as pleasant as possible. First experience of a Dutch hospital
Super nice hospital. Come here since my birth. The doctors are friendly and helpful. When my mother was in the hospital, they were also very understanding. Nobody wants to be in a hospital but we do have a better time with all the good experiences.
I gave birth to my daughter in the birthing center at OLVG West. My natural, painkiller-free birth went very quickly and smoothly.
The room was large and comfortable, there was a birthing tub available and ready. They also had a bed and birthing stool available. The midwife helper who was available was great coaching and offering useful tips.
All in all, I felt treated with respect, things were sanitary and safe and I had a positive experience. I'd recommend anyone looking to give birth in Amsterdam to choose OLVG West as their first option!
The only thing you need to consider:
- You have to pay for a wheelchair, so tell your partner to bring coins! I had to walk up to the birthing center while having really strong contractions because we didn't have any change. :/
Vreselijk ziekenhuis. Ik zal hier noooooit in me leven meer bevallen. Schofterig behandeld. Mag nog blij zijn dat we het overleefd hebben. Wat een slecht ziekenhuis. Komt de volgende dag iemand aan me nest dr excuses aanbieden dat ze mij en me baby aan ons lot hebben overgelaten. Top hoor. NOT heb niks aan die excuses. Vreselijke ervaring lijkt wel de middeleeuwen daar. Je hebt helemaal niks aan gerenoveerde bevalings suites als er geen bekwamen artsen zijn.
Helpful staff, if you are respecting them they will respect you. Make sure that you have health insurance with you, because it can get quite expensive.

Slechte telefonische bereikbaarheid een een parkeertarief waarvoor ze je auto eigelijk zouden moeten wassen en aftanken.
Denk dat iedereen zijn best doet maar dat het op onderdeel planning en procedures niet goed op order is.
Mooi voorbeeld is een portal welke de specialisten en medewerkers zelf niet lijken te gebruiken en soms niet kennen.
Gelukkig zijn er alternatieven maar daar moet je wel bewust voor kiezen anders komt hier vanzelf uit via je huisarts...
Dit voorkomt een hoop frustratie & teleurstellingen.
