Shogun by Saisaki Restaurants Review

In town visiting a friend of mine and she recommended this place. It was packed and I see why! We got seated quickly by a pleasant hostess. Waiter came to table, greeted us quickly. Knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks came out quick! We had the calamari for an app. Great portion size. Then we split a tower. The half is a great size for two people. It was delicious! The only thing I didnt like was that the tables food didnt come out all together. So at one point one couple was eating while the other just watch on. Lol a lil awkward! Other than that it was GREAT

It takes a lot to please my taste buds, and I must say Harpoon Larry's really met my expectations. The only downfall is the waiter could have been more friendly, but we all have our days.

Took long to get a table. The same with our drinks. Then they changed my order without asking and told us they didn't have what we ordered?

Blackened fish on she-crab soup was excellent. Solid choice for good seafood.

First time eating here. The food and service was great

Ordered a blackened crabcake sandwhich with sweet potato (yam) fries, and an order of buffalo oysters. Fried oysters topped with buffalo sauce, crumbled blue cheese and bacon. Delicious. The server was very helpful and friendly allowing us sample beers before ordering. The environment was nice, however the music was a little too loud for lunch time and it was very cold.

Food was great but giving 2 stars because I'm pretty sure me and my husband have food poisoning we both had shrimp and couple hours after we got home we are both sick! Smh dont think we'll be back anytime soon smh

Food was wonderful, and my server was the best, definitely will come back again and I recommend this place to anyone that enjoys seafood

The Holy Gumbo was very good. Not too spicy, and well seasoned.
Would like that the dinner included side items for 5 stars.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about this place

We have been here before and the food is ok, not what's expected from a seafood restaurant, they put a lot of seasonings on their food but their batter tastes dry, we ordered fried shrimp, scallops and fish. Fish was horrible. Oysters Rockefeller was tasty but they weren't hot, more like room temperature.

Atmasphere good fast and friendly service ran in for take out we just got a bowl of the she crab soup a good size bowl at 7.99 however it was the worst crab soup I've ever tasted. Very disappointing.

The atmosphere was on point w/ great service and patriots.

Good salad and steamed shrimp. But, the bathrooms should have been cleaner, and smelled better. Overall, I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps, it's overrated and living on a legacy of a once great seafood place.

Waiter was amazing! I forget his name, but it was 3 Fridays ago. Very informative, great oysters!

The food is great...get a designated driver, you will want more than one rum runner, they taste that great....the bay burger, tuna sandwich and key lime pie are my favorites

This is a great restaurant! Food was really good and dining on the patio was great. I previously said this restaurant was "not for us" but I got my restaurants mixed up. I highly recommend Larry's.

I was a little surprised being so near the coast that they would have more experience with fish, but it wasnt bad.
I just felt like the decor didn't match the prices and the fish didnt match the hype.

The pandemic may stop us from enjoying things we love, but the scallops at Harpoon Larry's are worth taking desperate actions to enjoy the things we love.

Wow what a good place to go. The manager saw that his server was busy giving customers her attention, which she should do, but he came over and got our order so we didnt need to wait. Thats team work. Will be returning.

This is the place to go! Mondays are the best because you can't get 75 cent oysters anywhere. They're drinks are all good. Especially the oyster shooter with vodka. Their appetizers are all amazing, especially the she salmon soup. The atmosphere is great top all the waiters are super friendly and have no issue explains some items on the menu. I highly recommend try this place out!

Lots of variety for seafood lovers. This time around we tried the she crab salmon (pictures 2 and 3, which was salmon on she crab soup.

I like Gumbo but I am to tired to make it. They do a pretty good job at it.

Maannnnn listen! As an AVID seafood lover my hubby and I went here for date night tonight and OH...MY...GAWD this place blessed my tastebuds from theee very first bite! Starting from the beginning there was no wait, the staff was amazing and very welcoming. We sat at the bar and had drinks (which were DELIGHTFUL as well) while waiting on our food. I ordered the Captain's and my husband ordered the stuffed flounder and when I say it was good...I mean it...was...GREAT! Everything was seasoned to PERFECTION and the crab cake was ACTUAL crab cake and not filled with all that extra breader. I'm sorry I started eating before I realized I hadn't taken a picture but the portions were plentiful as well! Needless to say we will be back!

Decent seafood although food (crab soup / seafood platter) was only warm when serviced . Good service, waitress was quick to correct (heat up) and was friendly. Would come back but not first choice

Excellent seafood and great atmosphere! We got the Harpoon's Combo, Calamari, Crab Dip, Fried Shrimp and Clam Chowder. Everything was so delicious we couldn't pick which dish we liked best. The Angler Fish by the driveway sign was very creative.

Horrible service. More interested in their phones and playing around with co-workers than waiting on customers.

Hubby and I enjoyed shrimp po-boy and mahi tacos, which were pretty tasty. They could add one more shrimp to the poboy, but otherwise it was delish. Service was great and food didn't take long to deliver. No complaints.

Went on shrimp night and it was perfect. Shrimp were what they are supposed to be .. big, plump, and not over cooked. Our waiter was adorable and we wanted to adopt him, but we're dirty old ladies, so...

Fantastic waiters and waitresses that contribute to a very chill atmosphere, despite the covid pandemic. Speaking of the Covid Pandemic, they've got that down covered. Masks required to your seats, which are plenty spaced apart. Also hit their great bar to get a little buzz going while you enjoy your time.

Best she crab soup I ve ever had! This is a must, especially for seafood lovers or friends and family in town visiting. It is a little pricey, but you definitely get great portions. Their drink specials through out the week are nice.

Seafood. I had a really delicious citrus adult drink, loved it.

Rum runners here are a favorite of mine, and always great seafood. If you treat the staff well, they tend to respond in kind. Always have a fun time at Harpoon's!

I have lived in Hampton Roads forever and always passed over this place, but finally opted to give it a try. The restaurant itself is big, and seems to attract a younger crowd rather than families. It was clean, and our server was courteous and quick. The food came out pretty timely, and man was it a lot. You definitely get your money's worth at Harpoon Larry's. Food was pretty good, I could knick pick if I wanted to but overall it was a good experience. I could see myself going back again!

Visiting Newport News, VA from Raleigh, NC. I was pleased with the service and most of all the food. Awesome dish, food was cooked and plated well. I enjoyed my dine in. Great place to eat.

A few things I love about this place. The Rum Runners ... a slushy cocktail served with a shot of either 99 bananas (my fav) or 151 loaded into the straw. Their Oyster selection. A favorite for my husband who always seems satisfied with the local offerings. The feel. Seems like a neighborhood restaurant mixed with a chain restaurant ... In a good way ... Clean and well decorated, with lots of space and both bar and family-friendly seating options.

Unfortunately, I've never been super blown away by my food choices, but perhaps I'm just not picking the right things. Appetizers are pretty solid but never seem to be happy with my entree. Husband seems to fare better and he has the more sensitive palate. Will need to revisit this review after I've worked through the menu a little more. Definitely worth the return trips!
